does what it's supposed to for the price By A3VMYA44F3XZMJ on 2005-09-03
(Updating my review after 6 mos of use.) I've found the Homemedics PS-200 "Perfect Steam" has been fine for all types of clothing. This is the smallest, value-priced model, so I wouldn't expect it have enough steam for thick upholstery or to press creases and folds (It's upright. Commercial steamers don't do this either without a flat surface! They're for removing wrinkles- not pressing clothes.) I bought it to use instead of a steam iron- and for the same price, it's faster and easier. It has worked for denim jeans, suits, blankets, wrinkled khakis and dress shirts. Read the manual for tips- it helps to have the pole all the way up. When the hose starts to gurgle, water is condensing in the hose. Just hold the hose straight up and let the water drip back into the tank. The manual says this is normal and the condensation does not affect the steam. I find it's ready in 15 seconds! Also, steam runs consistently when the clothing is hung higher than the pole- meaning I have to hang clothing from the top of a door frame or shower rod. The hose is long enough to reach but (obviously) the pole could have been made to extend a foot taller. It's small enough to fit inside my tiny closet. Distilled water is a must in Colorado. The water does need to be emptied out after each use or else mildew/mold will form. You may have to lift and tip the unit over a sink and shake the hose to completely empty. I was expecting much less for the price and was pleasantly surprised.
great but have same probs... but have solution By A209G57KXCBF4C on 2005-12-14
I had the same problem with the steam petering out. What is happening is that there is buildup of minerals in the pipes and it eventually clogs. The way to fix this is to take off the hose and the reservoir and put vinegar in where the hose was and where the reservoir was. Let it sit. Then take a turkey baster bulb and put it over the opening for the hose and flush. AFter a little work it will finally free up and you are good for another 8 mos. If you used distilled water it wouldn't do this but that is ridiculous.
As for the how breaking....mine did that after about 2 years. The plastic simply fatigues. I called homedics and they said they will send me out a new one free immediately.
The above sounds like a hassle... but this steamer beats the pants off the Conair and the Shark and..it sounds like it beats the rowenta.
The only thing I don't like is that the pole could be longer.
Loved It Until I Didn't.... By A1LQHCS4T3SLVC on 2005-02-18
My sister and I each received one of these steamers as a gift for Christmas, 2003. In a now familiar chorus, after nearly a year of use, hers started tripping the reset button every time she used it, and just today, the hose snapped off of mine, just like reviewer G. Williams.
I loved this little steamer, and probably used it an average of 4 days out of the week. I never had a problem with the performance until now...and the broken hose is a big one! How ironic that just today, I was bragging to someone about what a good little machine it was. Famous last words.
update: 5/05...i went on the homedics website to send an email about the hose. there was no product category for the steamer, so i just picked one of the other products and wrote about the steamer anyway, asking how to buy a new hose. after about 3 weeks, i got a reply from their CS who said they would just send me a new hose...free! it came about 3 weeks later...during which time they had gotten mixed up and sent me an additional brush, and even called my home and left a message about the mix-up and apologised profusely. I was really pleased with the way this was handled.
So, now my steamer is back in business, and I am once more wrinkle free...at least from the neck down.
Meets our needs just fine. By A2RDKYFUPXT4M7 on 2006-03-07
The garment steamer was easy to assemble and begin using. The user manual is adequate -- we'd recommend special attention to the need to hold the hose up high frequently to drain any condensation back to the reservoir -- to avoid sputtering on the garment. Because it does exactly what we expected it to do, we rate it at 5 stars -- a very nice applicance for a reasonable price.
good idea + cheap price = poor design By A2TZ4TE9JLNM0R on 2006-12-08
I don't typically review products but in this instance I had to. When I first received this product I was ecstatic. The concept was simple and the implementation was effective with a low price to let anyone indulge. I've used this for about 6 months and was happy enough to buy 3 more to distribute them as gifts. Lots of people surprisingly don't have one. The price point was competitive and the flaws at first were minimal.
Until mine broke... first let me say that the steam comes out quite quickly. It's relatively consistent and doesn't sputter too much (unless you tilt the hose forward). When you use it, take the brush off... The stiff nylon brush seems more likely to snag delicate fabric than iron out wrinkles. I haven't used any other comparable product so I have no basis for comparison. I thought I was getting a bargain with others costing 50-100% more. With that I still expected a quality product. Boy, was I disappointed. Taking it out of the box I found the design to be awkward. The water tank seems unnecessarily complicated and a bit undersized. When hanging something heavy, the unit just doesn't feel that stable. I've used distilled water only and even doing so, after a few weeks, leaves the water cloudy and bacteria-ridden - not a pleasant sight. The part that connects water tank to the unit is very unique and complicated with small parts - 5-6 to be exact including 2 valve/seals and a delicate spring. Just for a connector!? With that part breaking alone and you might just have to throw the unit away.
The garment pole uses really thin/cheap tubular steel - almost like an aluminum pop can. The 3 segments are secured together with 2 flimsy plstic holders similar to how a collapsable camera tripod stand works. Well, that's the part that broke. After not using it for a while I discovered the unit was 1/3 shorter one day. The plastic "hinge" snapped. The hose that rests on the pole sat 1/3 shorter and was permanently crimped after only 2 days of discovering the flaw. I suppose it's still useable but I haven't used it much in the first place! I don't abuse it or move it around. Warranty seems pretty useless too since I emailed them and they told me to return the unit along with $5 "handling fee" for a replacement. It may be free shipping from Amazon but for me to mail the unit back and pay another $5, I might as well have bought a better brand with a superior design. This one flaw broke, but I can see lots of other parts breaking too.
In summary:
The plastic hinges to secure the 3 sections of the pole vertical are too flimsy.
The pole is made of thin metal that could break easily.
The hose crimps easily.
The nylon brush will snag delicate fabric.
The brush will sputter if tilted even slightly forward giving your fabric wet spots.
The valve is unnecessarily complicated and delicate.
The drain plug is a plastic screw.
The unit seems to be able to clog easily even if you use distilled water out of the box.
The unit is not bottom heavy enough.
The unit is not tall enough.
The customer service is substandard.
I guess you can't expect much for $50. I just hope my friends have had better luck than me with this unit.
- Nice machine for the money
     By A65PVGQOYKYHX on 2005-10-17
I read an article about steamers, and decided to try this one because it has all the features suggested for a good steamer, and at about 1/4 the price of commercial grade ones. It does a nice job, so far, I have to say i am very pleased. I think if you take care of it, by emptying out the water container and small amount of water left in the bottom of the machine between uses, as the instructions suggest, this little steamer should be fine for household use. I like to freshen things up between dry cleanings and it really does the trick and saves lots of time.
- Water Reservoir poorly designed
     By A1WJPT5IYI6VY3 on 2005-10-04
I too have experienced the water tank caving in and not working properly if you forget to take the water tank out of the steamer unit, and mind you, you must also remove the cap from the water reservoir even after you remove it from the steamer. I have tried putting hot water in the tank in an attempt to regain its original shape to no avail. I would not recommend buying this steamer for this reason.
- Beats ironing, but some cavets...
     By A2LCBGF5GT9I55 on 2007-08-19
The Home Touch (Homedics) Perfect Steam definitely beats ironing. This product is a replacement for the Joy Mangano My Little Steamer product from HSN that I received as a gift, with which I had nothing but unpleasant experiences.
The Home Touch heats up very quickly, and I'm able to steam a week's worth of dress shirts and pants within a half-hour.
Some slight annoyances:
- The garment hanger needs to be taller, especially for us people who are 6' tall and more. And it can be a little sturdier.
- Maybe I'm missing something, but the wheels should be able to lock. My unit will sometimes roll around while I'm steaming.
- I can't see the error/warning light while steaming. It would be helpful on the top of the unit instead of hidden away on the side.
- You may need to experiment with the type of water you use. I found that my tap water would cause the error light to come on. I'm now using distilled water, which seems to do the trick, but am next going to try my hand at filtered water.
All in all, this is a solid product. I recommend it.
- Home Touch Commercial steamer
     By A12ZDUXONVISGP on 2006-02-27
The steamer is nice, it does get clogged often even with distilled water...you have to use distilled water in it. It is difficult to make creases with it but it does help with wrinkles in skirts and sweaters. After using it a few times I would still buy it again.
- Not as good as expected
     By A1TP4DJ4TKTIRR on 2006-02-25
I just purchased this steamer and I expected more from it. The instructions say to attach the brush to the steam head but does not address why and when to use the brush and whether there are times one should not use the brush. No tips as to best way to steam in the instructions, whether to pull on the fabric or just hold it up and steam away so you are on your own to figure this out.
I followed directions and attached the brush to the steam head. Started to steam a newly washed knit sweater. The brush pulled at the fabric and casued it to pucker and wave so I quickly abandoned that and moved on to a newly washed 100% cotton shirt. It was OK but ironing it would have given better results and the collar definitely could use an iron to touch up.
Then I tried a linen-type jacket and it, too, puckered so I put that job aside. Then I removed the brush attachment and got better results but still not as good as expected. I washed a cotton shirt and medium weight cotton capris, took them out of the dryer and started to steam. They looked better than when they came out of the dryer but still look like they could use an iron.
Next test was a cotton knit shirt and that did well as did a very lightweight pair of cotton slacks. I steamed a heavier weight denim-type pair of pants and they didn't do too well. Garmets felt a bit damp so I hung them out in the air to completely dry.
Conclusion is that this steamer would work the best on lightweight fabric and knits, like T-shirts, but one can always put those in the dryer for a few minutes with probably the same results.
The steamer was easy to set up. When I first started steaming clothes everything worked fine--heated up quickly. I used distilled water. Mind you the instructions say you must use distilled water even though the picture on the box shows the water tank being filled at a sink faucet. The steamer shut off when the water reached a low point. I refilled the water container and touched the "on" button but after no steam came out I realized I have to press the reset button to get the steam started again. A couple of times I turned the steamer off while I looked for more items to steam and when I turned it back on I also had to press the reset button. While on my 3rd container of water, the steamer started to shut off for no apparent reason and I had to keep pressing the reset button.
From reading other reviews I thought I could whip through a bunch of clothes in 40 minutes but it took me much longer than that since I kept going over and over the garments trying to improve the results. In the end I could have ironed these garments a lot faster and I would not have used 1 gallon of distilled water. Maybe the steamer gets too overheated after steaming for over 40 minutes which causes the constant shutting down and resetting. Maybe it's intended purpose is only for a quick touch-up of a previously ironed item or maybe I am too picky and expected too much.
A lot of steam comes out of the steam head but it is not like a shot of steam from an iron (no force behind the steam) and from time to time the steam head spit water on the garments. This is definitely not a COMMERCIAL steamer. I have seen those in operation at stores and have witnessed the wrinkles magically disappearing from garments without all the tugging that I was doing.
I was using the steamer next to a sliding glass door in my kitchen when I had an idea. I aimed the steam at the glass door and quickly wiped it down with a microfiber cloth--no streaks. Try it on your windows!
Conclusion: It took me longer to steam clothes than to iron them. Steamer will spit water on clothes at times even when hose is held high. Steamer has a tendency to shut itself off for no apparent reason. Probably is OK for quick touch-ups especially since you don't have to drag out your ironing board. I wish the power cord was longer.
I might return it to the store after I decide whether I would get enough use out of this or if it will just sit abandoned in a closet. Maybe a new iron with vertical steam would work better for me.
- Steamer has engineering problem
     By A3RCRZ24JITZJD on 2005-08-09
I am in clothing wholesale and get samples twice a year which need steaming. This unit quit in 2nd day of use. It took a while to figure it out. The plastic container that holds the water evidently became too hot and the bottom caved inward. This caused the opening too sit too high and it would not release the water into the tank. At that point the automatic shut off would turn off the unit. For those whose units are quitting, if you put water in the bottom and forget putting container there, it will work. I wouldn't recommend this unit to anyone. The manufacturer's need to correct this problem.
- Everything I've Ever Wanted in a Steamer -- at a Bargain!
     By A3S7DO2L5CRW6G on 2004-04-30
For years and years I've steamed everything with a hand steamer, not knowing there was any such thing as a descent and affordable commercial-grade item. I was skeptical by the low-low price of this, but I've found it not only exceeds the performance of every bygone steamer I've used, it has many exceedingly handy features I've always wanted. This steamer is a godsend to me!Assembly was easy -- a prior reviewer covered that. The 1500 watts of power delivers incredible steam, and I think it may be part of the problem one of the prior reviewers had about this unit "not working." I noticed that the automatic shut-off feature, intended low or no water, also applies if your wall outlet is overloaded. When I first used this, after about 10 minutes, it shut off -- remember to check the orange light on the side. I just reset the button, back in business. We have older wiring in this building, and any appliance 1250 watts or higher is a big load. It's not this steamer's fault. I seldom have this problem, but this is the only time the unit shuts off by itself, and "reset" does the trick every time. This unit works so FAST! I haven't had to wait a full 40 seconds to warm up, I start with the light stuff, and at about 15 seconds I can get to work. I use this for the things I would never iron (not that I want or need to iron anymore), like: sweaters, silks, light fabrics, knit tops, and suits. It's also brilliant on corduroy (no shine!) heavy wools and cottons, including denim. It does a better job than I'd have thought on linen, the only fabric you might want to iron, like tablecloths or napkins. But I now use this for freshening all my linen garments, and it's good enough that I don't bother ironing them anymore -- linen creases up the minute you put it on anyway, so who's the wiser? The brush attachment really helps on nappy or heavily wrinkled fabric, and it's a great thing to have. I remove it for thin/smooth fabric or shaped areas, such as the shoulders of suit jackets. It is hot enough to do razor creases on trousers, and also hot enough where I suggest you do what I do -- wear an insulated rubber dishwashing glove on your positioning hand, or it's easy to get a scald while doing your creases or shoulder-shaping. It's that much hotter and the steam jets out more strongly than anything else I've used -- and I can't get away with just being quick-handed with this one. This is high praise, NOT a complaint! I love having the garment stand, which frees me up to move around the garment. The hose is a perfect length, long enough to work but not so long it gets in the way. The unit is light and rolls easily, making long sessions far easier, but not so light that ever becomes tippy if you have several garments hanging at a time, before you put that batch away. Perfectly sturdy and stable. Best of all, the huge water reservior means I can get all my stuff steamed without stopping/refilling/rewarming every 5 minutes! So I can really fly with this unit, like maybe 25-40 pieces in one 40 minute session, depending on garment complexity. When it's out of water, I am DONE! The only thing I wonder about is that the water reservior says "distilled water only," and the manual shows someone filling it up under the tap. I fill mine under the tap, like I have with every other steamer around here, and no problems so far.
- Home Touch
     By A2KO0SDTXRI6W0 on 2006-07-25
I think this is an okay product. I have two problems with it. First the rollers on the bottom do not have locks on them. When I barely touch the steamer it wants to move on me. Second the bottom is not heavey enough, when I start to steam a shirt from the inside the steamer wants to tip over.
- Got 5 minutes out of it
     By A249FDMCQ3UEFH on 2006-09-27
This worked great...for 5 minutes. I tried everything to make it work again over three days. I finally contacted customer service and they said there is nothing else to do - send it to them and they will replace it. I'm glad they were responsive, but now I have to pay to ship the darn thing to Michingan.
- Does a great job, bargain priced!
     By on 2004-03-19
I have to admit I was rather skeptical at first that a steamer would get the wrinkles out. Sure enough this one does a great job. It is 1500 Watts of power (the highest I found available) and the steam comes out evenly. It is easy to set up, and easy to use. Forty minutes of steam. Nice design...safe to use. It got out wrinkles in everything except a linen skirt and some very thick vinyl backed curtains. Although I will still need the iron for creases, and linens, it seems to take care of everthing else. Also it heats up lightning fast (less than the 45 second promise!). The pole is not as high as I would like (a common complaint for steamers) but I just hang the clothes on the shower curtain rod which is plenty high to steam everthing.
- Don't throw out that iron just yet!
     By A22JM9VN0ZCC61 on 2007-09-09
Little price when it comes to electronics and technology will always equal second hand quality. Steamers has become popular since recently and every lazy people when it comes to ironing (such as myself)give in to the whole "steaming method" and so far after 2 days of use here's my official review:
Pros:
1.) The price is unbeatable
2.) Takes the wrinkles out of clothes (sort of)
3.) Compact and Portable
4.) Built-in clothes holder
Cons:
1.) Second-hand technology
2.) Though it takes the wrinkles out of clothes i had to run through one spot several time before it does the job... Even more of the time it would take me to iron a piece of garment. In addition, when it comes to dress pants, you would have to use your iron to put the crease or seam as some people would call it, back in the pants because the so-called, "perfect steam" doesn't do that.
3.) Though it is compact and portable, there are other superb brands out there (for a little extra cash) does the job better, puts the seam into pants and so forth that this little "imperfect" machine couldn't do. For example, one i have in mind to get is call "The TOBI" check it out at this site:- [...]
4.) Not safe! when heated, the hose gets really hot and if you're not careful it could burn you. The steam rises the temperature up a notch so if you're in Florida or any of the southern states you can forget about this lol.
5.) Doesn't come with any accessories!! Nor do they offer additional accessories on their site except for a hose/water tank replacement.
6.) Feels cheap
Overall, for the price it's an ok brand but i wouldn't recommend this not even to the average price saving joe. Take my advice and do some more research on the perfect steamer for you before rushing in to cheap second-hand models.
Hope this help, as for mines... it's going right back to Macy's!
- Disappointed
     By AIF9XVOQ852MT on 2004-05-05
I received my Homedics steamer today, and it's going right back, I'm afraid! I sell clothing on line, and I had high hopes for this device, as many folks on the message board I frequent said they couldn't live without theirs! It's not really any easier than ironing, in my opinion, and it won't press seams or collars the way an iron will. I spent way more time trying to get the wrinkles out with the thing than I would have just ironing the shirt I was working on, and it still came out looking kind of "limp." The pole is too short, so I had to squat down to steam longer skirts-- forget about dresses! It will also be way too easy to scald myself, and the reset light came on about 5 times in the first 20 minutes of use, for whatever reason-- there was plenty of water in there, and it was not plugged into a gfi outlet-- I finally gave up. I think I will just invest in better steam iron! It was worth a try, I guess.
- last gasp steamer
     By ARLELFUPJ922N on 2005-02-08
I thought this steamer was terrific for the first few months and then it started losing steam. I don't use it very often so I didn't worry about it too much. Now after a year of use, it finally let out its' last gasp this afternoon and, altho' the light is on, there's "nobody" home. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. It seems to me that a product should last longer than the one year guarantee.
- OH MY GOD WHAT A DUD!!!!!
     By A1CVNV5TX59R8G on 2007-01-06
Okay, I received my steamer yesterday.. I just took it out of the box and assembled it less than 1/2 hour ago.. Easy assembly, so I'm excited. I turn the unit on and go to my closet to get 3 skirts to test the steamer. 45 seconds later, as it states, steam comes out of the head.. Woo hoo, I'm on my way.. I steam a wrinkle out my skirt and I'm thinking this is gonna be great, UNTIL, no more wrinkles are coming out of the skirt and then I realize, NO MORE STEAM IS COMING OUT OF THE NOZZLE! I got a whopping 45 seconds of use before it died! The box and packaging are still in the middle of my livingroom floor! I have unplugged and re-plugged, removed the tank and placed the tank back, turned it off and turned it on again and the only thing that has happened is the hose went from really warm, to warm, to cool, to COLD! I'm sending the unit back for a full refund, I don't even want a replacement. I gave it one star because there is no option for zero or negative numbers!! Buy at your own risk!!!!!
- I have had 3 of these things and it still doesn't work
     By A3QUGZ8347Y31B on 2004-04-26
Okay, so a steamer isn't that complicated right? Well apparently, I got the shaft. I can't get steam to come out of this thing. My parents received one from my grandmother as well, and guess what? It doesn't work either. So i returned mine, and guess what? it didn't work either. I wish i could have the results that the other 2 reviewers had, my business suits were really looking forward to the touch up. Very strange and very inconsistent.
I also read the manual (about 10 times) to make sure that i wasn't on crack thinking that i didn't hook it up right or whatever. not the case. [...]
All i wanted was my suits to be wrikle free.
Sniffle.
- I wonder what the stated mean time to failure is for it.
     By A3ORALXENN71MJ on 2005-04-13
My husband and I received this steamer as a gift, and we were incredibly excited about it; we had always wanted a garment steamer. It worked amazingly well for about 4 months. Now, I am lucky if I get 3 minutes of steam out of it, as it seems to continually trip the reset mechanism, and it quickly runs out of steam altogether. For the stated price, this equipment is a complete waste of money. I am highly disappointed.
- Worked Great Until It Broke.
     By A11RVM2VKT8ZEZ on 2005-02-07
Until very recently, I LOVED this garment steamer. I used it about 3 times a week to steam wrinkles out of my clothes in the morning before getting ready for work. It did a great job. That is, until it broke. The plastic connector that attaches the black hose to the base of the steamer broke. I had used it for approximately 8 months. Dissappointing for what is marketed as a commercial grade appliance. If you're only planning on using your garment steamer occasionally, this is probably a pretty good one. If you're looking for a garment steamer to use on a regular basis this probably isn't the best one to choose.
- Not Bad
     By A107J284FQM5X3 on 2005-10-02
Being skeptical and not very handy with an iron I reluctantly decided to pick one up. I have to say it's not bad at all.
I gave it a good test and bought a brand new button down shirt that was folded and pinned. It took most of the wrinkles out and the shirt looked pretty good. Not sure yet how to do creases very well. I have to say that so far I am happy with my purchase! It certainly has worked out better than every time I have used an iron:)
- Great for the price! I'm very happy. :)
     By AJ19F2LD02L11 on 2007-08-29
I have a big family, so ironing all of their clothes was truly a chore and often it went undone, but now every time I do my Laundry I "iron" what needs to be ironed, it's great! I'm buying a second one for x-mas for a gift to my mom. It's ready to go in 4 seconds. The pole could be a bit taller, and the base could use a brake, to prevent it from tilting over, not that it has happened, but it could happen. To create a crease on pants, I place my pants on my bed (an ironing board might come in handy), then I'll create a crease. for me it fit my budget, its fast and convenient, and it does its job. it takes the wrinkles out! Remember that if it runs out of water a safety switch goes off, and one might think that it's broken but just remember to reset it before sending it back. And try not to let this happened. Also if water is left on the tank to long it becomes grouse! so just use a bit of bleach and rinse it out. I have had this for 2 months now and I use it for an hour straight every week to week and a half and as often as needed there after. It still has not needed to be cleaned with vinegar as the instructions recommend. good buy. hope this helps :)

- Great product
     By AIU5MO5SSHB7Z on 2007-10-07
This product works great. It is easy to assemble and heats VERY quickly. The only issue is water leakage if you don't follow instructions and hold the hand steamer above the base unit. It also requires a fairly large storage area due to its size.
I found it to be very useful for steaming draperies.
- Great price, convenient and effective.
     By A2T157Z2JKM2O7 on 2007-04-04
I was looking for a good way to remove wrinkles as our front-loading dryer has a tendency to create copious amounts of them! This steamer is: priced attractively; ready to steam in under a minute; has enough steam for almost an hour; and works on a great variety of fabrics. I would love the hanger to be more stable, but it does the job.
On the service end, the lid to the water tank was broken when I unpacked the unit. This doesn't say too much for quality control, but that's another story. Contact information was a little work, but after emailing the company they very promptly sent me out a replacement tank free of charge. Kudos to Homedics!
- Hate ironing - love this
     By ACBBEVVSNJ32F on 2008-02-26
I have had clothes hanging in my closet that I haven't worn in ages because I just won't ever get around to ironing them. Now that I can just run the steamer over them, my wardrobe is resurrected. I'm not suggesting they come out crisp and pressed as if ironed, but all I want is for them to be not wrinkled and presentable. I am very pleased with the steamer for that job. The steam starts in a few seconds. It is very easy to use even if it takes a little getting used to; after a little practice, I've gotten the hang of it and can get my clothes ready to wear in just a minute or two as I pull them out of the dryer. The main deficiency, as I've seen mentioned in other reviews, is the fact that the hanging pole is nearly worthless for the steaming process -- too flimsy, to wobbly, too short... I just use it to hold the wand and hang the clothes over a door or even just hold them up so it really isn't a problem (as you can see, I didn't even dock for it in my rating). As far as dying and not coming back on; I did discover that if it runs out of water, you do have to press the reset button BEFORE you turn it back on and then it worked just fine again -- but before I discovered the process I was groaning a bit thinking it really had died. All in all, I am very happy with my steamer and the ability to painlessly get my clothes ready to wear so easily.
- Best "Iron" I ever had!

Well, after my girlfriend started using the Home Touch Steamer we no longer use our Iron. And, it makes our clothes last a lot longer! Because we have soft water in our area, I buy distilled water - keeps the unit clean and our clothes clean too! Love the unit, and, I reccomend it 100%.
- Low Cost "Occasional" Steamer That Works Fine!
     By A3N4Y4DFDIP5J2 on 2007-02-08
If you're like us, who just need to steam out a few wrinkles every now and then, this model works fine. We just bought some new suits in Hong Kong, brought them back and figured for the cost of a pressing for each of the three garments, we could get this steamer.
Yeah yeah, it's not a heavy duty and it has some cheap parts, but if you use it only a couple times a month ( or a year), it will hold up. The unit is not badly designed or super cheaply made, but they did scrimp on some things, like the plastic drain plug (I just take the water container out and the hose off and tilt the unit over, draining it that way!). The hose attachment is made well and will last for the occasional user.
Steam pressure is adequate to take the wrinkles out. The telescoping hanger rack could have been a little taller, but is ok for most garments.
So, if you want a steamer for the cost of 3 or 4 pressings, this is a pretty good choice.
- Will not replace your iron

Just a quick note, not a true review: if you are looking to replace your iron, this will not do it for you. Good for touch-ups, will not give you a crisp ironed look.
