Firefighting By A1V06HMMTEC1RZ on 2007-09-26
I bought this because I have always been fascinated with the area of firefighting. This documenty style film highlights some of the companies within the FDNY. It give the viewer a true idea of what life within a Fire company. What is unique about this film is it examines the continuing "Brotherhood" that has alsways been at the heart of the fire service but it looks at how 9/11 has effected the firefighters that survived the attack as they struggle with the feelings of welcoming new firefighters that have "replaced" those that were lost.
I would highly recommend this film if you are looking for a true glimpace into fire house life and the continuing brotherhood that endures despite suffering one of the hardest things in the department's history. It is a very well done and respectful documentry film about the FDNY post 9/11
Great City, Great Department, Great Men, horrible tragedy By A2CT092NCPXE0Z on 2009-12-23
This is a documentary about the greatest fire departments and in the world and in the history of fire departments. The FDNY. The film focuses on the brothers who are left behind after 9/11 and the new guys that have come in and are coming in. It's a tough film to watch without getting teary eyed. The bond these men have is beautiful. Best line of the movie, "You're on the payroll, you ain't in the brotherhood. You ain't in the brotherhood till the brothers in the firehouse say you're in the brotherhood."
I highly recommend this movie if you are into firefighting.

Brotherhood: Life in the FDNY By ACIF6M3OX54IM on 2009-10-19
This is a wonderful look into the lives of the FDNY. The main objective of this video is to introduce the viewer to three differnt stations in New York. The main story focuses on their response and training elements. Another story is the possible moving of Engine 252 being moved closer to downtown Manhattan. The story give the viewer a brief look into not only the humor but the self defense comments that keep them from going crazy. Some material may shock smaller views and parents should keep that in mind if planning to watch with children. A great movie.

Brotherhood is a documentary filmed over the course of one year that followed the lives of firemen as they work and live in their "house." The filming took place after 9/11, often referred to as "that day" or "the tragedy"--it was very subtle in its power to inform the audience of how firefighters work with and depend on each other and how "that day" affected those who remained behind. The sign in board from "that day" is set behind plexi-glass, so that they will always remember. You can observe how they use humor and depend on camaraderie to help them deal with the variety of things they have to see and handle.
Also, you see how connected firefighter's are to their immediate community. Most of the time, this aspect of firefighting is overlooked. The children from the neighborhood stop by to visit, see the truck or help the guys wash the engine. Behind the film is the underlying story: Engine 252 Brooklyn was being threatened with closure--they are centered in one of the poorest areas in FDNY. The community pulled together to save "their" firehouse. It is easy to see why people think of firefighters as heroes; this film reveals that they are quiet heroes who mop floors and clean sinks. God bless them all, everywhere.
Great movie! By A3A21GEHLCR49C on 2008-01-05
This has to be the best video made about the F.D.N.Y. I really enjoyed it. It makes you feel as if you are really a firefighter and the love you end up having for those brave men. Enjoy! I know I did.
