  I love this "Martex Vellux Blanket". It has the look and feel of luxary at a reasonable price. It adds a nice extra layer of warmth that could be used with a comforter in the winter or by itself in warmer weather.It washes up beautifully. I washed it in cold water before I used it and it did not fade or shrink and was even softer then when it came out of the package.Be sure to check your lint trap after drying though,I had quite a build up of fuzz after the first washing.

  The cranberry is a beautiful shade.It is even deeper than the picture here depicts and adds quite a festive look for the holidays. I am mixing and matching it with the whimsical flannel "Snowman Plaid Print" sheets and comforter and it made an easy and inexpensive seasonal decor.

  This full/queen size is ample enough for a queen size, and may even be a little big for a full.It came with laundering and storage instructions and was packed in a plastic zip case.The instructions had the "WestPoint Stevens Inc" name on it, so you can be pretty assured of a quality item.

  Nice for a new look, for comfortable cozy warmth for your bed, for holiday visitors, or just to wrap up in in front of the fireplace or TV.And at this price you could get a different color for every season.

• VELVET SOFT - SUNSHINE WARM

  While Martex calls this blanket "Vellex" I found it closer to velour - it's extremely soft and light in weight yet provides maximum warmth.

  A plus for the appearance of this blanket is that it's equally at home in the bedroom or den. There's a wide variety of colors so you can easily find one to fit your personal color scheme.

  We keep ours folded on the sofa for quick naps or extra warmth when reading or watching television.

  I've never written an Amazon review before, but the extremly poor quality of these blankets-I had ordered 4 unfortunately-compelled me to warn future consumers. Only the top and bottom edges were finished, they were very thin and the color was faded and VERY discolored where the blanket had been folded in the packaging so there are faded discolored lines throughout the blanket when you open it-and no amount of washing will change that-so they are useless and it will cost too much to ship these bulky items back so I'm stuck with them-it was like purchasing irregular 3rd or 4th quality factory rejects-

  We purchased this blanket to go underneath our comforter for that extra comfort during the colder weather. It does just that! The blanket is very soft and comfortable. It washes up just like new as well. I think it is great for traveling as well. You never know when you will need an extra blanket. Another great feature is that this blanket comes in a wide variety of colors, so everyone can find just what they are looking for. Enjoy!

  What the manufacturer is calling "White" is actually a dirty light yellow color. The blanket is so very thin that I can see my hand right through it. I am extremely disappointed.

  Wonderfully soft, no pilling, available in great colors!! Ever try to fall asleep with too few/too many covers? You need this blanket! Wonderfully light, use it by itself, or on top of the coverlet for those spring nights, or as a second blanket during the winter! You can't go wrong!

  I dont prefer comforters, sheets or blankets on top of me while I sleep(Too heavy). But still I want the warmth of a blanket.

  Vellux provides just the same warmth while remaining remarkably light.

  I got this from Sams Club a year back after seeing it on lots of Hotels. Paid less than twenty bucks for this. Washed it straight out of the box like the manufacturer had suggested. Used it year-round and have no complaints till now. Believe the editor. This is a good buy.
  
  

• Falls apart.

  I bought this blanket several years ago and only recently went to use it. I figured since it was sitting in a bag, I'd wash it first.
  
  Well, what I got was a washer FULL of lint with what looked like a needlepoint canvas. The thing fell apart in the wash!
  
  I called their horrid customer service, and the jerk I talked to refused to acknowledge that this could happen. He wanted me to send him the lint! Five pounds of lint?? It took me an afternoon to clean the crap out of my washer!
  
  I'd strongly suggest that anyone who wants a blanket that lasts steer clear of this blanket. That, and the absolutely awful and nasty customer "disservice" of this company.

  The product description was great and I was looking forward to a cosy and heavenly blanket :-) To my dismay this product was nothing like that... It is ultra thin and like a paper thin foam sheet used in packing material ... lol.. It's both funny and disappointing... The thing is not a blanket at all... The sides are cut as if someone did that with a pair of scissors... the sides look real tacky.. This is one of those types of blankets that will not trap your body heat inside.. infact since you can see your hand from under the blanket, the cheap blanket will give way to any body heat emitted and the heat will easily escape from the blanket.
  
  The other thing is that this is no twin blanket... Being single I sleep on a twin bed, and its nice and cosy.. got three heavy duty blankets to keep me all warm in the winter... all of them are quality and ultra cosy and heavenly! So these three blankets are exactly the same size - all by different manufacturers... which tells me that there is a standard size for twin blankets...
  
  ... Though this blanket is quite a bit smaller in width than my three blankets. It's so silly... to call such useless things, blankets...
  
  Save your money and please invest in something that will enhance your sleeping experience.. after this bad purchase experience I went to a Sears store in close to my home and purchased a nice blanket :-) and love it!
  
  
• wow do I love this warm blanket!

  The blanket is light-weight, yet they are surprisingly dense. I have purchased velour type blankets before, and found them wanting as far as warmth, and did not last long. The weave is much denser, and it makes them so good at keeping you warm, but not overheated. You feel like Goldielocks...just right.
  
  These are twice the quality you will find in stores and surprisingly less than I paid for the last ones. The material is strong, showing they will wear well. I don't think you can beat the price for there. I sit at the computer and write for hours, and they are perfect for a throw on a sofa. I bought two and loved them so much, I am ordering more. Very highly recommended. Shipping was quick, too! Worth every penny.

  I order a good deal of items from Amazon, always reading reviews before making a decision. This is the first review I felt compelled to write. The blanket was unfinished at two ends, and there was a two inch cut in the material in one corner. For $20, I think you would do much better heading to your local mall. This is not plush at all, and it looks like a kid threw it together. It will be going back.
  
  
• Vellux Blankets Are SO Warm and Luxurious!

  I've had my navy blue Vellux blanket for our Queen size bed for several years now. It's amazing at how this blanket holds warmth! In fact, we use it as a bedspread. Sometimes, it gets a bit *too* hot!
  
  It feels velvety and sensual and looks that way, too. We've washed it lots of times and it's never faded...not once. It's quite a bulky blanket, though, so you'll likely have to wash it all by itself. It's not heavy, it's just, well, *substational*.
  
  We loved it so much, we bought our son a twin sized one for his bed!
  
  If you're looking for an attractive blanket that's warm and soft, Vellux is a wonderful choice for your bedding needs. It's well worth the price!

  This blanket is soft and warm without bulk. It washes well and is larger than most blankets (making it perfect for sharing with the spouse). All in all a great buy!
  
  
• The third one...

  This is also my third Vellux blanket. All are still kicking. Even the 2nd one which was munched by the dog. This is a replacement for the 2nd. Love the washability, the softness, and light weight. Use it all year (as long as the dog isn't eating it!!!)
  
  
• Very Disappointed...But don't know who to blame.

  I ordered a King size Martex blanket in LAVENDER as a christmas present for a friend. When I received the blanket it was in terrible condition. It appeared to have sun-fading or just plain ol' dirt down the full length of the blanket in every area that had been folded and had creases. You could barely (and this is NOT an exaggeration!!) tell that the blanket was supposed to be LAVENDER...it looked like the whole blanket was supposed to be a dull, dingy GRAY color.
  
  Like I said, I was highly disappointed with this product. I don't know if it was the light color of the blanket that made these marks so noticeable or if it was just an oversight by someone in a warehouse. Amazon should really double check their items before shipping them out or get better quality control people, I mean it is their good reputation on the line. I ended up going to my local JC Penney's and purchasing the blanket in CRANBERRY, which was brand new and of perfect quality.
  
  Since this was the first time I have ever ordered anything online thru Amazon, I am now very hesitant to order anything else. I did order a few more items for christmas and thankfully they seem to be in excellent condition and working fine. Hopefully I'll never have this problem again.
  
  I will be returning the blanket and I expect a full refund.
  
  
• Not what I expected in a blanket.

  After using this blanket for the past month, I found it to be light weight which is one of the reasons why I purchased it, but certainly doesn't move with you as you toss about during the night. The material feels like thin foam and is not pliable. In fact it already has a slight nick in the foam. It certainly doesn't feel like fabric. If it hadn't been used, I would return it.

• Washing machines beware!

  This is the first vellux blanket I've had that left the inside of my washing machine covered with large amounts of wet lint. This wet green blanket left a trail of wet green lint from the inside of the washer to the dryer. I tried washing it a second time to see if it was just because it was new, but the second time around yielded the same result.

  It looked okay when I opened it. Then I washed it before using and my washer and dryer were full of "cranberry" colored lint (wet in the washer and dry in the dryer). The next time I washed it was better but, still some lint in the washer and normal in the dryer. It is not warm enough alone. It might be okay in the warmer months but, not what I expected for winter.

  I bought these blankets and they just haven't held up well at all. I use them on my couch and when the dogs jump up and down from the couch, the blankets tore really easily. I have some vellux blankets on my bed and they seem to be more sturdy.
  
  I'm sure most people wouldn't have any problems with this product but if you have pets, they don't hold up well at all.

  In the past 13 years I have had 3 Martex Vellux blankets. I enjoy the very soft feel of the fabric and they are very washable and dry quickly in the dryer. I had my first exposure to this type of blanket many years ago in a hotel. I tried to buy the blanket on our bed...instead the hotel sold us a new one. I still have it and use it. Occasionally I buy a new one to change colors just as I have very recently done.
  
  
• The Best Blanket Ever!

  I purchased one of these last winter for my bed. I was in love immediately. The product was so soft against my skin, provided plenty of warmth, but did not weigh me down and did not engage the bed sheets' age old game of getting all wrapped up and unusable. After I threw it through the washing machine/dryer and put it back on the bed, the quality was unchanged. Christmas giving was solved. I bought one for EVERY member of my extended family---having the twin sizes embroidiered with the individual child's name on it. It made quite a hit! It deserves all 5 stars.
  
  
• Wrong Color-Beware!!!

  I have received my product by UPS in good condition, but alas.. it was the wrong color. Further more when I went online to send back the package, it only gave me the option to blame myself stating that "I ordered the wrong item" when indeed the computer did not choose my color "automatically" when I selected it. Make sure to select your color, then press "GO" it will then bring up the page with the blanket in that color-then proceed to check out. I hope Amazon.com reads this review so that they may improve on their automation.

  I got this blanket as a gift to my mom in India a couple of years back. Was not even sure if this would suit the climate in India.
  
  Almost every time I go back, my mom asks me to get a new one - either for herself if she wants a different color or as a gift to someone else. Anyone who uses this blanket once will not want to use anything else. It has the best qualities of cotton (light weight and smooth texture) and also keeps the right amount of warmth with good air circulation.
  
  Overall, a highly reccomended blanket.

  Started to use these blankets 20 years ago when the allergist recommended them. They aren't as cozy as some other materials, but they last a long time with multiple washings. They don't lose their shape and are great for someone with allergies.

  I ordered one of these for my daughter's bed. It arrived speedily within 3 days of ordering. It is truly soft, a lovely color and warm. The only reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5 is that when I first washed it, there was a heck of a lot of fuzz in my washer and dryer. I mean ALOT. Then my son wanted one, so I bought a 2nd one in cranberry. It had the same fuzzy issue with washing and drying. I am wondering if that is an indication of how long it will hold up in future washings.

  I love vellux blankets. I finally replaced a king size vellux blanket that I had for fifteen years and put this one on about a six weeks ago. The vellux material is already coming off the backing. The blanket will be unusable before the winter is out. I am truly disgusted with the quality and workmanship of this article. I think that the most casual product testing would have exposed this product as being inferior and disappointing. It is so bad that I wouldn't even replace it with another Amazon blanket.
