    (13 reviews)
Best Price: $233.99 $160.09
The GN 9120 is a wireless headset that works the way today's in-office professionals work. Offering an unbeatable range of personal mobility in the office, a robust talk time and a host of innovative features and benefits, the revolutionary GN 9120 will give complete wireless freedom in the office. The unique conference call feature lets you hold fully mobile, secure conference calls not restricted to meeting rooms or ruined by crackling speakerphones. In today's busy, interconnected world, multi-tasking has become an essential component of the workplace. The GN Netcom GN9120FLEX Wireless Headset with Flex Boom is a mobile communications solution that allows you to keep your important conversations going even while you head down the hall to your next meeting or pull out our pen to sign for a delivery. The cutting-edge design of the wireless GN9120FLEX gives you the freedom to think on your feet without having to hang up your phone. With this wireless headset and boom, you can be up to 300 feet from your desk and still keep your telephone conversations going. And even better, the GN9120FLEX's secure, multi-unit conferencing capability allows up to four other headsets to join a call, which means that there will be no more shouting into a speaker phone or listening to a voice that sounds like its coming out of a tin can. Simply place another headset in your charging station and press a button on your headset, and you'll be ready for the next conference call. What separates the GN9120FLEX from other wireless systems? In a word -- security. The GN 9120 uses the Digital Spread Spectrum (DSS) protocol, originally developed for secure military communications, transmitting on a frequency of 2.4 GHz, as opposed the more common, and less secure, 900 MHz analog frequency. To prevent eavesdropping, the GN 9120 features a multi-layered security system. First, the signal hops 90 times per second for security that's virtually airtight. Second, 64-bit encryption scrambles your voice when it's traveling between the headset and base station. And finally, the smart power management system controls the signal range. For instance, if you're 15 feet away from the base, that's as far as the signal will broadcast, protecting your voice from eavesdropping outside of that range. Weighing about an ounce, the GN9120FLEX fits comfortably on your ear or over your head, giving you the complete freedom you need to move while you're on the phone. There's no question that once you try the GN9120FLEX, there will be no going back to traditional cordless handheld phones. What's in the Box GN Netcom Base unit, headset, headband, earhook, earplate, earcushion, base foot, connection cord, and power adapter.

After 3 years of use, nothing better still By A1DSPWDQ3C64IV on 2007-01-31
I'm amazed that this GN Netcom wireless headset is not the de facto phone for homes and offices. It probably is quite popular, but I rarely see it in other people's business or home setups. Yet this device is so far above anything else out there, and that's after using 3 of them in our home and office for almost 4 years.
The GN headset defies logic: it weighs less than 2 ounces (you don't feel it on your head), yet I can walk 130 feet away from the base, and even though there are 3 walls between, there's no interruption of sound. No cord! How anyone can use a corded headset is beyond me. This thing allows my wife to garden and talk with friends; she'll be out there weeding and pulling veggies and then moving back to the kitchen, all while catching up on her phone calls. I move freely from the office, to the garage, even out to catch the UPS driver, all while handling business calls. I spend literally hours on the phone each day, and the battery has never run out of juice. It goes for a couple hours straight without any need to be placed back in the charging base.
Other features I love:
** The boom mic swings up out of the way when you don't need it. I often leave the headset hanging around my neck.
** Very, very comfortable. Like a light pair of glasses, I often forget that I have it on.
** There's a mute button right on the ear piece. If I need to cough or speak to someone in the room, I can do that in private.
** There's also a volume up/down buttons on the ear piece, but once I set it years ago, I've never touched it since. If a caller happens to be too loud, it's easier for me to move the ear piece slightly off the ear.
** Hookup to the phone takes 60 seconds, and no manual peeking. It works with any normal phone system.
** The recharging and holding base is nice. When you place the headset back in its base correctly, you hear a slight "tic" noise, notifying you that you're now recharging again.
This GE Netcom comes in 3 different microphone booms (the piece that swings down to your mouth and holds the microphone). We own all three. In general, if your environment isn't very noisy, either the Noise-canceling or SoundTube one will work fine. I like the SoundTube model the best, it has a slight better sound than the Noise canceling one. If you don't experience a lot of background noise, its the one to get. The 3rd option is okay, but the only reason you'd want it is if having a longer boom bugs you.
I've had 3 of these GN Netcoms now for well over 3 years. In all that time, I've only need to replace one of the batteries once. That to me is amazing: 3 years of rechargeable battery life and still going! The spares are about 1" square, and take all of a minute to replace.
I just can't say enough good about these things, and again, wonder why they're not like the Aeron chair and seen everywhere. Once you get one, a normal corded phone or corded headset seem like horse and buggy.
PS: I bought these back when they were over $300 each. At these prices, they're a steal. And no, I don't work for Netcom, or have anything to do with their sales.
Impressive, but... By A35F0JXECEXFJQ on 2005-08-18
Our office has just purchased the GN 9120, and I find it to be perfect, except for one thing. However, first the good points: The sound and tone are wonderful. I walked a half-block away from our office and still had terrific sound and quality. The convenience of the hands-free headset is unbeatable. And the set-up was very, very easy and uncomplicated -- even for me!
However, if you have a multi-line phone system, it will only work on one line. If you are using it at home or in a small one-line office, it's the perfect solution to multitasking. Unfortunately, I had a difficult time explaining to a client this morning that I had not hung up on him -- I was using the headset on the main line when a call came in on the second line. I disconnected the first call and also managed to disconnect the second call!
The bottom line is that this is a wonderful product for small offices and home, but it just doesn't quite fit the bill yet for other types of settings. The good news is that I understand the manufacturer is working on a multi-line system, so I am waiting for that.
Superior Headset By A8HO4MK5HRXP7 on 2007-02-16
If you want a truly superior wireless headset, this is it. Hook-up is easy, controls are intuitive, sound quality is great both hearing and transmitting and I have not noticed any interference from external sources such as runing Microwave ovens or other wireless devices. One caveate, this headset is designed to go between a standard phone and handset. It plugs into the handset jack. It does not have a plug to hook into Cordless phones, Cell phones, etc. If you have a phone wirh a standard Handset and want wireless freedom, this is a great buy.

When this unit is working, it's great, I have had a lot of problems with it cutting out. I call the customer help line, and they are very nice, but the fixes they have been suggesting are temporary at best. They are now sending me a new battery which they hope will solve the problems but I'm not convinced this will work. Great idea, they just don't seem to have the technology down pat.
Great sound quality and range. By A1JXJDAF7IR5MD on 2007-01-15
A "must have" for a small office/home office for long conference calls. Both speaker and mic volume are adjustable. Now saving for the "GN 1000 Remote Handset Lifter" so I can answer calls w/o picking up the handset.
- Quality depends on phone it is connected to

We have this headset at work & it sounds much better when hooked up with a "modern" phone. Hooked mine up to an old Bellsouth phone at home and it's been hard finding the "just right" settings.
- Great headset! (and responses to two complaints)
     By A3J8XHAG93LUTC on 2007-07-07
I picked up two of these headsets for use in our home office, on Cisco 7940 voip phones, and am very happy with them. I found nothing about their compatibility with Cisco phones, but was happy to find that they work great -- connected to the handset or headset port (there is a switch on the back of the base for different phone types, the Cisco headset port is wired differently than the handset port).
Highlights that I am happy with so far:
* headset is remarkably light, barely noticeable when on
* base is nice and sturdy -- solid weighted bottom thingy (the circular bit in the photo) and cable management is decent
* it's pretty easy to get the headset off/on the base
* battery is pretty easy to remove (it's accessible when you pull off the headset piece, which is how you switch between head and ear clip), and I've seen replacement batteries (if you need one) under twenty bucks
Response to two complaints below:
1) THE PHONE WORKS FINE WITH MULTI-LINE PHONES
The headset simply plugs in-line where the handset plugs in, so works with whatever settings your phone may have. It is not meant to replace the actual phone, it is simply an add-on wireless headset.
I've found that it works through the handset or headset jack on my Cisco 7940. If you have a remote lifter, it will simply lift the handset to answer your phone (your phone will answer whatever line was ringing, as if you just picked up your handset).
2) MUST LIFT RECEIVER TO ANSWER CALLS
A remote lifter, which I use, is available for the headset. If a call comes in, you push a button on the headset and it remotely lifts the handset of your phone, answering the call. When you disconnect from your headset, it hangs up the phone. Again, this should work with multi-line phones (unless your phone requires pushing another button after answering a call).
If you don't have a remote lifter, you do have to push a button to answer the call -- but the remote lifter is only necessary if you're routinely answering calls out of distance of your phone. Also, you don't have to push a button every time -- if you leave it on the base, simply picking it up activates the headset... and putting it back deactivates the headset (furthermore, if you have a remote lifter, activating/deactivating the headset consequently picks up/hangs up the handset on your phone. (Note: these features are pretty standard among wireless headsets/lifters from most manufacturers)

- Limited
     By A9D256EMMSBSP on 2007-05-11
You need to pick up the phone receiver and than press a button on the headset in order to make the headset works, same thing to disconnect.
Therefore the roaming capabilities are limited.
You can't use this headset on more than one line phones.
