The Weather Channel WS-2310TWC Professional Weather Stationx$140.00
    (19 reviews)
Best Price: $299.99 $140.00
Professional Weather Station, Features Wireless Indoor & Outdoor Temperature, Records Min/Max Rainfall, Temperature, Wind Chill, Barometric Pressure & Dew Point Totals, Shows Wind Speed & Direction, Forecast Icon, Weather Data Can Be Uploaded To Your PC, Atomic Time & Date, 12 Or 24 Time Display, Time Zone & Alarm Setting, El Backlight, Transmission Range Up To 330' With Input From 3 Sensors & Wall Hanging Or Free Standing. This device is geared to the serious weather nerd rather than the amateur as it gives a more complete picture of weather patterns and has more complicated accessories and a more complex screen to decipher for readings. About the size of a thermostat, the base unit mounts on a tabletop or wall and has numerous wireless gadgets that feed information into the weather center. First, the station reports the humidity and temperature in Fahrenheit and Celsius for indoor locations and outdoor locations using a remote sensor positioned up to 80 feet away. The weather station records the minimum and maximum temperatures and humidity readings within a 24-hour period and recalls them at your prompting. The unit also displays wind chill and dew point temperatures for folks looking for very exact weather information. Other features of this station include a weather tendency indicator, which predicts weather for the next 12- to 20-hour time period based on air pressure changes in easy-to-understand grapichal icons. Air pressure, either absolute or relative, is shown just below the weather forecast icon in inHg or hPa. A remote wind transmitter provides detailed information on wind speed and the weather station reports measurements in mph, km/h, m/s, knots, or Beaufort. The base unit also shows wind direction via an easy-to-read compass display. This kit also includes a remote rain transmitter, which measures and displays data on rainfall for 1-hour and 24-hour periods and also provides a total rainfall amount in either millimeters or inches. The wireless station even has a storm warning alarm to give you ample time to prepare for foul weather. For added convenience, the wireless weather station has a clock that reports time in hours, minutes, and seconds in either a 12- or 24-hour time mode and the accurate date and day of the week. For precise time- and date-keeping, the gadget has a built-in antenna system that receives signals from the WWVB radio transmitter in Fort Collins, Colorado, which is in turn is regulated by the atomic clock. This weather station comes with its own software on CD-ROM that allows users to upload up to 175 full sets of weather reports to a PC. Other accessories include a thermo-hygro transmitter, a rain transmitter, a wind transmitter, and a serial port cable. The wireless weather station requires three AA batteries for the receiver and another two for the thermo-hygro sensor and is covered by a one-year warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde

Weather Channel WS-2310TWC Professional Weather Station By A2JBAY1V4RQOBC on 2006-02-26
I have had this weather station for about 4 weeks. It is working properly and does all the promised functions. Setup and installation were easy the manual covers all the needed points and has some good insights. The included monitoring program works well, but is not too deep and is difficult to modify or reprogram.
Overall I am satisfied with this product and I would recommend it.
Good Bang For The Buck! It Is Still Working 3 Years Later! By A3DSCE7ZVQW7CL on 2007-02-05
Good enough for me, but I like to tinker with things. Has been running continuously for over 3 years, have replaced the batteries a few times, they dont last forever but the power drain is reasonable. It has survived 3 hurricanes, none were a direct hit but it has recorded wind speeds of 83 MPH. After about 2 1/2 years of operation the anemometer stopped working, knowing it was out of warranty I pried it open and found the magnet it uses to trigger the wind speed sensor had rusted and fallen out. I glued another ring magnet in with 3M 5200 RTV (Killer Stuff By The Way) and it is running like a champ. This item is about $[...] to $[...] less than the Oregon Scientific WMR-968 and it comes with the software and cable you need to connect it to your PC it is a super deal, you can spend $[...] to $[...] connecting your Oregon Scientific unit to your PC. After setup and calibration all you need to send your weather data to the Internet is a program called WUHU (Weather Underground HeavyWeather Updater) and an account at Weather Underground, check my weather at wunderground.com Station Number KFLROCKL4. For the money I cant beat it, I wish I had a Davis but I cant justify the expense, maybe when I win the Lotto...
Avoid this product By A14DD374X1PVQG on 2007-08-22
LaCrosse technical support is abysmal. 9 times out of 10 when you call you will have to leave a voice mail. These units ship with cheap telephone cable that easily pick up interference. You can use the wireless mode to help combat this, but you will only get updates once every 2 minutes. For wind information (gusts) this is unacceptable. Just be warned, you get what you pay for.
It is hard to believe... By A3QMIWXU2RGEMH on 2007-08-24
I pondered this purchase for quite some time. It seemed to offer the same features as the $500+ Davis and Peet Bros. stations for a whole bunch less and even included the software for free. Finally bought it and am quite pleased. My ham transmitter may screw up the rain gauge "inches in the last hour" recording, but I am not even sure about that.
I sure cannot see anything the expensive stations have that this one doesn't have except for its "non-hackability". As a gadget geek, I'd like to know more about the interfaces and the software construction.
Handy By A1QVHFAYQ8LDNR on 2007-08-09
Delighted with the weather station; good design and enjoy knowing wind, rain, temperature, humidity etc.
- Great Value and Functionality!
     By AZZ5D0S5HEQ93 on 2007-10-29
I found this item at a substantial discount at H******** A****** (a specialist in closeouts), and am delighted with it in all respects. I made a cruciform mast out of 3/4" PVC and mounted the anemometer to the top upright, and rain gauge on one of the arms with "U" bolts fashioned out of threaded rod. All the wires are threaded down through the upright and out the bottom and back under the eaves of my garage, at the roof peak of which the mast is fastened. It helps to have a telephone wire RJ-11 plug kit and pliers to shorten the cable lengths appropriately.
Everything worked great out of the box! The instructions are deficient in that they lack illustrations showing how all this goes together, and one has to read them closely to discover that the rain gauge must be partially disassembled for mounting!
- The Manual is not very helpful... All works but the wind barameter
     By A3O0UACM0VY7BE on 2007-01-10
My husband was so excited, when he got this station and could not wait to get it set up. He is a phone guy so he wired it all up under the house and spent many hours setting it up just right, only to have issues with
the wind barameter. We have tried to trouble shoot with the online and
handwritten manuals.
Unfortunetly there is no one to contact nor is there an option to return this product once you have it out of the box.. sooooo needless to say the
excitement is gone..
- Don't Buy
     By A1P6JTNGKEAY3N on 2007-01-25
I owned a Davis instrument for 11 years and it finally started giving out so I bought two of these Lacrosse units, one for my Dad and one for me, thinking for the price it would be a nice replacement but both lasted until the first storm in Oregon and quit..I would never buy this again!! I paid more for a new Davis weather pro and so far am very happy with it.
- low quality, no support, not recommended
     By A255V3JG93LN31 on 2008-06-02
I've had this unit for about 1.5 years. The computer I/F worked for the first month and then quit. The wireless I/F works ok ( I'm running it about 75' ) but the update rate is too slow to support recording any wind gusts. Rain gauge doesn't record properly. Support never returned calls or e-mails so I'm stuck with a broken unit. Not recommended.
- Pretty Good
     By A2JJZSI5CT8DW8 on 2008-06-07
I bought this unit over a month ago. It works fine. It's a pretty good job getting a weather pole and a good location. However, after I got that done the rest was pretty easy. I do have trouble with the instruction being clear on some things. I have trouble clearing the rain gage. It doesn't work like the instructions say. I usually have to reset the whole unite to clear the rain recordings, probably not doing something correct. The wind speed is 2 minutes behind but I knew that up front. All in all I"m satisfied with it and recommend the product, for the price you can't beat it.
- la crosse weather station
     By ASTESNE1ZAC79 on 2008-06-08
The first thing I noticed was the price. If I remember correctly it was something like 80% off.
I had no problems setting it up, and it has worked perfectly. The one thing I really like about it is the ac adapter. I don't have to worry about batteries. I did put them in to serve as a backup. It has done a pretty good job predicting the weather. I would say it is about on a par with the local weatherman.
I would recommend it for anyone interested in the weather. It is one of the buys I have made at Amazon.

For the price, this is an excellent weather station. I have not had any problems with it, and it gives a lot of useful weather information at a glance.
