Best Price: $9.95 $3.51

Meet Kipper™, a loveable dog with a big imagination! Today’s the day to join Kipper, Tiger, Jake, Pig and Arnold in their wondrous world of magic and fun. Birds and fish and mice, oh my! Little critters are great for cuddling – and excitement! Just ask Kipper, as he and his friends enjoy one animal adventure after another. Is a nest just for the birds or can Kipper and Tiger make themselves at home, too? Pig accidentally allows Jake’s bird to escape; can Kipper and his friends find the missing Fluff? In another episode, Kipper is confused – is that an echo or is someone talking back to him? And who’s eating Kipper’s cereal and playing with his toys? It’s one adventure after another when Kipper talks to the animals! Whether it’s a wandering hedgehog, a homeless goldfish, or a playful mouse, Kipper keeps busy with his animal friends. And you can count on fun with Kipper and the cuddly critters! Approx. Run time: 60 minutes

In a cute and cuddly cartoon character contest, Kipper would come in second only to Pooh. Add a British bunch of fluffy and feathered creatures to the show's mix (as seen on Nick Jr.), and the adorable quotient skyrockets, as we see in Cuddly Creatures. Here, Kipper, Tiger, Jake, Pig, and Arnold are up to their pastel forepaws in rascally new friends--Jake's bird flies the coop, a tadpole and a goldfish swap swimming holes, a smart-alecky parrot pretends he's an echo, a mouse makes off with Kipper's cornflakes, then sticks around for a hide-and-seek match, and a wily hedgehog wanders about confounding would-be hunters. Best about Critters is what's not present. All is calm and quiet in Kipper's camp; there are no fits and only minor fusses, a constant in the series that's earned it a trusty following, most likely of mellowed-out little kids and their contented caregivers. --Tammy La Gorce MPN: LYOD1371D - UPC: 045986013712

  • Kipper to the rescue

Once again, Kipper has proved the perfect carton to play just before bedtime. And, again, the values of caring and sharing are displayed in such a subtle way that it was easy to mention these themes after the tape while my son was brushing his teeth for bed. Thank the group in England and Hungary(?) for doing these films!!

  • Not the Best Kipper Video, But Still Worth Buying

    By A38OMRQDX8BZCO on 2005-02-01
We own Pools Parks & Picnics, Fun In the Sun, Let It Snow, and the Playtime DVDs. I would have to say this ranks at the bottom of the popularity list among all that we own, but it's still good ole Kipper, so if you already have a few, it might be worth adding to your collection. If you haven't yet purchased Playtime, I would recommend that one for sure, followed by Pools Parks & Picnics -- buy those before you buy this one.

  • Critter Crazy

Like all Kipper DVDs, this one is great value for money. Seven child-pleasing episodes make for an hour of fun, and this one is especially good for animal lovers. Martin Clunes again provides the voice for Kipper, and Chris Lang for everybody else.

    The 7 episodes are:

The Nest - Kipper and Tiger come across a little lost bird, and while trying to get it back to its nest, they decide to try living in a tree. The worm hunting scene is hilarious, as is the nest building exercise.

Jake's Bird - Jake's pet bird flies the coop, and Kipper and Pig team up to help find it. They find more than they bargain for.

Echo, Echo - A clever parrot makes Kipper think he's hearing things. The parrot is an extremely funny character, with all the "good" lines.

The Goldfish - Kipper and Tiger both have aquatic pets, at least temporarily. The goldfish takes sweet revenge.

The Mouse - Kipper gets an uninvited house guest (The mouse is a little annoying)

Hide and Seek - More mouse play and lessons in counting

Hedgehog Watch - A spiky critter gets the upper hand on Kipper and Tiger.

Great for pre-school or kindergarten kids, and for adults needing a little peace and quiet.

  • My first Kipper purchase

    By A2ABLBY4O5Z3Z1 on 2004-04-16
This was my first Kipper video that I bought for my daughter who was age 2 1/2 at the time. I was expecting a simple-minded cartoon that would have nothing more than colorful movement on the TV. Instead I was delightfully surprised at the storylines, the playful interaction of the characters and lightheartedness that make Kipper such a great series.

We have had this video for well over a year and my daughter still asks to watch it. It is a wonderfully relaxing show, rather than filled with needless violence or conflict. I highly recommend the Kipper series to anyone with toddlers. It is such a great change from the typical video fare.

  • Charming, delighful!

We love Kipper. The pacing is gentle and natural; none of the forty gazillion frames per minute stuff that you can see on Saturday morning cartoons that cripples your child's attention span. The stories are quirky (hedgehog watching, the phenomenon of birds actually eating worms), the characters are well developed, and the best part is hearing my kids run around re-enacting the scenes in British accents. (For some strange reason it reminds me of The Young Ones, that Eighties MTV show about 4 English college students-not necessarily a bad thing.) It is just under an hour, perfect for the hour-a-day TV limit if that's how things go in your house.

  • Very nice, calm video

With the recent recommendation of the American Pediatric Association of not letting children under the age of two watch ANY Tv and those over two only an hour daily, this video is very calm, relaxing with no high stress interaction within the characters. Fast-fed videos actually are bad for children according to the APA but Kipper is very slow paced, easy to watch like Blues Clues (recommended by the APA). We particularly like the British wit and accents throughout the video series and it's very amusing to see the interactions between Kipper and Tiger. Now, combine this with the Wiggles and we might all wind up with British/Australian accents! This is such a very sweet video, not excitable for children, slow paced and very entertaining.

All three of my children love the Kipper video series. This one has taught my 2 1/2 year old how to count to ten. It is amazing how much he has picked up from watching the Kipper videos. I can't wait to order more.

You can't beat Kipper for entertaining young children without making a lot of noise. Kipper and his friends are low-key and calming and just sweet. Great for the pre-school tots.
