  • Noise cancelling mic, not speakers!

    By A1DA3FZZVFG47Y on 2004-02-07
Overall these are very good headphones. I'm no audiophile but *I* like the sound quality. It's not too hard to make the bass distort on these if you turn up the volume and bass in WinAmp. However I've found that if you don't turn up the equalizer's bass much at all, the bass on these headphones really is well reproduced. Just don't overdo it on the equalizer, and the headphones will take care of replicating the bass just fine.

The microphone seems very solid and well constructed, as does the whole headset. The microphone's audio quality on TeamSpeak so far as I've heard from my friends hearing me, leaves nothing to be desired. The microphone has a wide swing range so that you can swing it out of the way completely or position it in ideal relationship to your mouth.

At first when I bought these headphones they hurt my left ear quite a bit after about an hour of wearing them. After poking at the headphones a little bit I noticed that the left earpiece wasn't swivelling like the right earpiece. This was causing the headphone to press my ear back to my head, as the headphones have quite a snug fit. After some very strong "wiggling" on the left earpiece I heard a "snap" and the earpiece began to move freely (like the right.) Annoying that I had to do this, but the headphones no longer hurt my ear and really are quite comfortable (the most comfortable mid-size headphones I've owned.) So I'm happy!

Amazon's labelling of this product is a little misleading. It is not the headset that is noise cancelling, but the microphone. The headset is just a normal binaural headset. However, the noise cancelling microphone will be much appreciated by your TeamSpeak / VOIP friends!

The only gripe I have about this headset is that the inline volume control seems to dim the volume more out of the left ear than the right. This is a *slight* difference and only the most sensitive ears can hear it, but it is definitely there. For me, this makes the inline volume control only really useful for lowering the volume so that I can hear things going on around me. This is nice at work, where I have to talk to cooworkers throughout the day. In my opinion a headset in this price range should really have the impedence on inline volume figured out perfectly, but hey -- you can't have everything, especially not at this price!

That said, the inline mic mute works like a charm ;-)

Overall I am very satisfied with the PC150.

  • Great Microphone For Dictation!

    By A1KPABN9P0IMDI on 2004-11-23
I just got this headset in the mail today. Previously, I'd been using a Logitech USB headset, which while the Dragon NaturallySpeaking program rated it as great signal quality, and always been frustrated with the accuracy and speed of the dictation program.

When I first plugged in these headphones, I was initially disappointed because the NaturallySpeaking program rated the signal quality actually lower than the USB headset..... HOWEVER... I've been able to tell a HUGE difference in the program's ability to recognize my speech for the better. I'm happily dictating this review with very few accuracy problems (NaturallySpeaking 7 BTW).

I would recommend this headset for somebody needing to use dictation software without hesitation.

  • Great Headphones

    By A2SFMXZ6EEMOCR on 2004-02-15
After breaking various numbers of headphones over the years, I finally decided to try a new brand. After reading the reviews of these headphones, I decided to try them out (when my other ones broke) Was going to order from Amazon, but it said 1-2 weeks for delivery...

Anyway, I'll give the pros and cons of these headphones:
    Pros:
Great, GREAT sound. Everything is clear, bass is great, they seem to have many more channels of sound which is awesome.
Mic is great also. Very good sound quality, slides in and out easy, stays where you put it. Low profile.
    Padded headband.
Padded earphones. Very low stress on your ears. Once you take them off you didnt even know you had them on. No "ear rubbing"
    Nice long cord.
Mic and vol controls are on the cord.
    Nice overall look

    Cons:
The earphones are kind of small. However, the sound is still great and alot better then the full ear headphones I'm used to.
Skinny cord, small plugs at the end (had to nit pick for the cons)

Thats about it. These are great headphones, giving awesome sound, combined with a very good mic, and some nice extras to boot (long cord, padded headband)

To the guy posting below me, maybe your soundcard sucks. These sound awesome with an Audity 2.

  • Awesome Headset for Gaming and Music

    By A2E2XDGFAAVEE7 on 2005-12-04
I have always wanted one of these "leet" professional gaming headsets, but because of their price, I never really got one. Until about two months ago, when the price dropped by 46%, I bought one without hesitation.

The first thing I noticed when I got it was that the earpad cushions are not the "smooth" type shown in the picture, rahter, they are big and puffy. But the difference don't affect the over-all look of the headset when you are wearing them, and they are actually very comfortable to wear. I have uploaded a customer image to the gallery showing the actual earpad cushions.

When I first try the headset with some music, it sounded good, but not exceptionally good. I tried it with some computer games, I couldn't really locate the source of any footsteps that well, I was only able to tell the general direction where the footsteps are coming from. On the other hand, the microphone was awesome when I first tried it, clear, crisp, noise-cancelled. It has produced the best sounds of my own voice that I have ever heard. I couldn't stop talking in the game. Haha.

So now, after two months of usage, I have noticed a SIGNIFICANT improvement in the headset's sound quality in both music and gaming!

First about music, I listen to trance, some of my favorites DJs are Armin van Burren, Tiesto, Dyloot, and Mystre. Nowadays, once I put the headset on and start the track, I almost wouldn't want to take it off or leave my desk. Sennheiser definitely did not disappoint me in this headset. I would rate the headset "exceptionally good" now comparing to the "good" of when I first got it. I couldn't really describe what it sounds like, but you can definitely tell its astonishing difference from an ordinary pair of headphones. And this makes me wonder how "godly good" the more expensive models of Sennheiser will sound like.

Now for the best part about gaming, I am one of the older jaded gamers who still plays Counter-Strike. And in CS, the ability to tell where the enemies are from their footsteps gives you a great advantage. This ability requires skills (which take practice) and headphones (which take money). The skills enable you to distinguish the different sounds and where they are coming from, for example, you can distinguish between your own running sound, others' gun shots, and others' footsteps. A great headphone can help pinpoint the exact location where the footsteps are coming from, while an ordinary headphone can only tell you the general direction. Now after two months of usage, PC150 has became such a great headphone! I can tell exactly where the opponent is, in front of me, behind me, to the left, to the right, even above or below.

This is exactly what I was expecting from this Sennheiser PC150 headphone, the awesome music sounding and great gaming enjoyment. I am completely satisfied now.

One thing that made me wondering is that why did it take two month for the headset to reach its optimal state. After some googling, I found out that it takes some times for the diaphragms inside the headset to reach their designed, optimal, final state. To speed up this initial "unfinalized" period, what audiophiles do is "burn in" their headset by leaving it on playing a wide variety of music at a sound level slightly higher than normal listening level for tens of hours. This article answers some questions about "burn in" in detail.
    http://www.delldjsite.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-7193.html

Other than the above, the microphone is just awesome, the headset is still as new out of box, because I took good care of it =p The cord is long, which allows me to go back and forth between the two desktops, but sometimes gets caught under the chair =x The volume control on the cord is very handy. Finally, the cushions are really comfortable and not that tight for my BIG head, so I didnt have to bend the headband like I did for my last pair of headphones.

If you are looking for a good pair of gaming headphones and you listen to some music, this definitely will not disappoint you.

  • Should have bought a USB headset

    By AAJOV2S9O7OO on 2005-08-26
The headset itself is fine, I'm just sorry I did not go with a USB headset. The audio is "okay." However, if you have a desktop computer, as opposed to a laptop, you will have to get a microphone extension if you have a computer with the headphone jack in the front and the microphone jack in the back. You could plug the headphone into the speaker jack in the back of your computer, but that will mean going to the back of your computer to unplug the headphone plug and reinsert the speaker plug when you want to listen to your speakers. It's a pain. Better going with USB that combines both mic and headphone functions and can easily be plugged and unplugged. This is especially true if you mainly use a headset for on-line audio conversations using MS Messenger or similar software.

Follow-up: I'm sending it back. It's uncomfortable-- heavy, tight, lousy ear cushions. It's always interesting to me that positive reviews of a product get more positive ratings than negative reviews. Buy this headphone and make your own judgment.

I just got the Plantronics Pro 1 headset from CompUSA. Amazon has similar versions that are approximately the same price as the Sennheisers, but more comfortable and the sound is about 50 times better. Also, the USB is great!

  • Great
    By A2IM24ISXZPK7L on 2003-10-01
I just got this today from another web site, but so far it's great. The mic is great quality. Honestly, I was only dissappointed about one thing. Everyone can hear what you are listening to. I am used to no one hearing what I am listening to ( I also own Sennheiser HD280 pro's, highly HIGHLY recomended). However, I play counter-strike and these headphones are simply incredible for telling where people are walking, also the mic is convenient and moves easily. All around good product, except for the sound-proof issue. I am satisfied.

  • Great but Mic Craps Out
    By A3EF5SY8M3DKE2 on 2005-11-02
    Well.
I have mixed feelings about the product.
    Sound is great.
I have a pair of Grado GR 80's and the Sennheiser's come very close to sound quality.

I will recommned them, particularly at the price I see now (40.00).
I will admit, I do not see other reviews or complaints about the Mic ceasing to work but that is my experience now.
I have owned them for three months and have not used them much.
Only for BF2 and I do not play on a squad or that often...so it is really a surprise.

Have swaped out another mic and it works fine but the Sennheiser...no more.

So, you may want to look around sites dedicated to Sennheiser and make sure this is not a pervasive problem.
Also, the lack of available support through Amazon for returns or exchanges has taught me to go to Frys, buy it, try it and return with no restocking fee up to 2 weeks.

So, anyway...good quality sound but beware mic shorting out.

  • Best headset around
    By A1DJDKMC8VCACL on 2004-03-31
I am using this headset for gaming, music and watching movies and if satisfies all my needs. This is a high-quality sound product, designed smart and with superb technology inside.

The headphones sound very good, the sound is a tad off perfect, but most people won't hear any difference between these and $1000+ studio speakers. The bass is low, deep and energetic, the highs are sharp, crisp and very detectable, the midtones are almost identical to the real sounds.

The noise-cancelling mic is very good, my online buddies in Unreal Tournament 2004 kept saying how well I sounded over voice chat, my voice was like in real life, crystal clear and no ambient noise at all. Great!

Ergonomics are very well done, the headset doesn't bother you, even when playing for a few hours. The long cable is a great idea, it's so refreshing to be able to stand up and grab something three feet away from your seat and not feel your headset cable pull you back like a dog leash. The clip-on volume control/mic mute is also a very smart addition.

These headphones aren't cheap, but well worth the price. This is a great headset for serious gamers, the only (very minor) issue that I can see as negative is the fact the headphones don't cancel noise, so if you turn up the volume above 80% (abnormal level) others can hear the sound coming out of them.

PC150 is the only way to go for serious gamers looking for a high-fidelity headset.

  • Really, really nice
    By AVJINCWC85L4K on 2004-03-25
This is the "best" headset I've owned so far! Let me start with the sound quality--it's fantastic. I play FPS online and need to know the exact direction of sounds in the game. 5.1 speakers are great, but when it came to headsets, I was always at a disadvantage. The Sennheiser PC150's solved the problem. It's like having surround sound speakers on your head! The mic is very responsive during my sessions on Teamspeak, very crisp and clear according to my teammates.

The headset itself is super comfortable, but after a few hours of gaming, my ears do start to hurt--it's unavoidable. The earpieces are very spongy and covered in fabric, but a little on the small side. The mic is sturdy and swings up out of the way when not in use. There's also a nice foam pad on the inside of the headband for added comfort.

The price may be a little high, but the sound quality is the best. If you're a hardcore gamer--get the Sennheisers.

  • Amazon is a little misleading
    By A282Y4RYQAL7TI on 2004-07-23
The headphone is a fine and good quality one. However, amazon keeps calling it a noise-cancelling headphone, which it isn't. Only the microphone is noise-cancelling, not the headphone itself.
    Overall, I enjoyed this purchase.

  • Not good for PowerBook G4
    By A3TVQCE446K8BE on 2006-11-10
The headsets sound is very good and I am pleased with it. However I am not pleased at all with the fact that I had to do quite some digging before finding out that the microphone of this headset cannot be used with the line-in input of my PowerBook G4, because the line-in is NOT ok for microphones which need additional power.
Ok, my fault for not checking in advance, but for sure it would help to have Mac compatibility sign on the products.
So, if you need a good headset and microphone for Mac DON'T buy this product, but go for an USB based set (Logitech models as an example, if you don't want to spend a lot of money). If you have a PC and/or you just want a good sound, Sennheiser is really ok and a good price quality ratio.

  • Simply excellent
    By A3EG14V3KGX147 on 2005-06-08
Up until a year ago, I had been using the Plantronics Audio 90 headset. I was pretty satisfied with that, as it had decent sound quality and a decent microphone. However, its main problem was its durability. I had them replaced a couple of times and when it broke after the warranty, I decided to spend a few extra dollars and splurge on a higher quality headset.

WOW! All I can say is that the Sennheiser PC150 is superior in every way. I used to think Audio 90 sound quality was good, but the PC150 blew them away. At a recent LAN, my friend wanted to test out my headset, so we swapped for a bit. I was astounded at how bad his Audio 90 in comparison to my PC150. Likewise, he was impressed. Since then, I have bought high quality headphones for travel and their sound quality is only slightly better despite having a significantly higher pricetag.

The microphone on my PC150 is also very good. I've listened to my recorded voice and it's crystal clear. On the other hand, there is a noticable amount of static coming from some of my friends' mics when we're on Ventrilo. I know it's not a server issue, as a friend who also owns a PC150 sounds crystal clear.

But the PC150's durability impressed me more than anything else. The Audio 90 is notorious for its breakability; there are accounts of them breaking even when the owner takes perfect care of them. Well, I treat my PC150 like crap. Drop them on the table, drop them on the floor, roll over the cables in my chair, you name it. But they've taken these beatings and have continued to deliver.

Congrats to Sennheiser for making such a great product. If you want a headset with outstanding sound, microphone, and structural quality, you won't go wrong with the PC150. It may cose twice as much as an Audio 90, but this one has lasted me longer than three of them.

  • Very Impressed
    By A1JXVILWGFMST1 on 2004-05-17
These headphones are everything I could expect. They have come with 100% satisfaction.

I am a gamer first and foremost, and in games, these cans impress. Upgrading from a broken $30 dollar set from radioshack, these sennheisers are legions better than I can remember. Sounds are crisper, bass clearer, and highs aren't too bright. Directional sound is also a big plus. I am able to guesstimate where my opponents are and sometimes wall them in CS =).

For music, these guys blow me away. Tool is my band, and for one I can hear Danny Carrey in the background on the hi hat, and I am able to distinguish between the beats. Not until I had these headphones did I realize the complexity of some of the background music, as before I had only heard it as a sludge of noise (comparatively speaking).

For ~$60, I feel I have more than gotten my money's worth. Amazon got the shipment through to me very quickly, and even with Mega-ghetto shipping. Packging was great. 100% impressed.

  • Comfortable and Worked as Expected
    By A197BQFMF77D24 on 2006-05-14
I got this headset so that I can use Yahoo PC to phone calling. The sound quality of the headphone is excellent. The bass is nice and strong when I used it to listen to music. The microphone worked great. I asked the people I called whether I sounded as good as when I called them using a regular phone, and they all said that I sounded good. Finally, the top part of the head band is cushioned and sits comfortable on my head. The headset can be worn comfortable for an extended period of time.

This is a five star product because of its exceptional value.

  • Initial Impressions
    By A4NMIAZ8TUYXY on 2004-08-18
Just got my copy of these headphones. I was looking forward to a decent pair of headphones and wanted something better than what comes with your average portable CD player.
I also wanted something that could let me fool around with voice over IP and spech recognition.

My first thought on putting them on is that they feel a little cheap, because the casing sounds hallow and you get this mess material sitting on your ears instead of leather. They look a little funky with the big roll of padding just under the band that wraps around your head. My wife thinks that I am wearing ear protection, instead of a set of headphones because they are big, I guess thats what you look like after wearing tiny little portable CD headphones for past 2 years.

Anyway the sound is decent, but I miss my old Sony MDR-V300s with their soft leather pressed against my ears. I hope these will hold up in the head band section and not break like my old MDR-V300s did.

After playing a game Im convinced the sound is good and my ears are not too tired from wearing them for a couple of hours.

  • Sennheiser PC150 are well worth the simoleans
    By A14RHLCY7DXZ0S on 2004-09-26
    18 Month Update:

For the past year and a half I have abused this headset, but it still sounds great. My cord hasn't broke, the foam has not hardened or deteriorated. I originally bouhgt them for the mike. I never used the mic once. I don't know if it works now or if it ever worked. I have grown to appreciate the volume control on the cord. I still give'm five solid stars. I wear these for hours with glasses and I couldn;t be any happier.

    =============================================
Original post on April 28, 2004:

I've been trying headphones on at various chain stores without much success. But now, I've decided to go and try out Dragon 7, and I needed a headset with a mic. Money wasn't the main criteria. I guess comfort with eyeglasses was my main priority with sound quality a close second. Man was I suprised. I've been listening to music all afternoon and I'm happy. Very comfortable, in fact I can take my glasses on and off without a problem. And for the price the sound is great. The bass doesn't get muddy (Geez, I hate that). My hearing is a little short around the midranges, but I've been picking up the vocals much better than my walkman set or the radio. Did I mention that these rascals are comfortable. I haven't tried the mic out yet, but if it works half as good as the rest of it I'm jazzed. These puppies: A bargain at almost twice the price. Thanks Amazon.

  • One of the best headsets
    By A2DFTVME10EYMJ on 2005-04-22
    Pros:
-Best headset/headphones/earphones I have ever owned (though I am no audiophile)
-Crystal clear sound at all levels
-Awesome bass, very clear and loud
-Very clear sounding mic, doesn't pick up background noise
-Very comfortable, even if worn for 5 hours straight
-Fits securely on my head, won't fall off
-Good mic placement, away from face so there are no breathing sounds
    -Nice, long cord
    -Remote is very useful

    Cons (I'm nitpicking):
-Most expensive headset/headphones/earphones I have ever owned
-Maximum volume is not loud as I would like it, although I would never listen to it that loud.
    -Heavier than most cheaper headsets
    -Foam is a bit hard
-Might hurt after a few hours if you have glasses, they don't cup around your ears like high quality headphones

Overall, this was a great buy and I am very satisfied with this item and I would recommend it for anyone who needs a excellent headset.

  • Good microphone, poor headphones.
    By AXGJDFKXTASRA on 2005-05-06
I bought this in hopes that I could use this set to replace my desktop mic and Sennheiser HD497 headphones. The mic is impressive. Everyone on ventrilo says I sound 100 times better than I did with my 15 dollar mic. However, my problem is with the headphones.

While I am no audiophile, I do like for my music to sound good. These headphones are no where near quality headphones. My 20 dollar Sony's sound better than these headphones. If you are just going to use these for gaming, they are fine. If you want to listen to music and game, get something else. If I find that something else, I will post it. 3 stars for the mic but it wasn't worth 42 bucks. 0 stars for the headphones.

  • Good headphone and great microphone
    By A35KWU7SEIJ156 on 2005-05-06
I have had this for over 6 months, no problems so far. The product quality is very good. It feels comfortable when u put it on vs the other headsets I have used. The only issue is probabaly that this is not very portable and can get a bit too big for everyday use. But it does everything it advertises to do exceptionally well.

  • Sennheiser PC159 Headset review
    By A30RO3WY32H6JZ on 2006-11-15
I have owned this headset for over a year. It has some very nice features such as its own volume control wheel on the cord as well as a switch you can move back and forth to mute and unmute the mic. The mic itself works wonderfully, and I have never had anyone complain about the sound quality on Ventrilo.

There is a single fault I have with this headset. Just one, but it's a biggie. My word, THE PAIN. It starts out feeling pretty comfortable when you first put the headset on. After about 30 minutes of wear you start to try to adjust them on your ears or reposition the sliders on either side to relieve the tension on both of your now red ears. I have not been able to find a configuration that works for me to make them useable for more than 1 hour at a time. I don't think there would have been this problem if they were the kind of headphones that completely enclose your entire ear, rather than just press against the outside of your ear. The earpads themselves aren't the super soft foam that is typically on headphones that rest on the ear either, but rather is a more coarse and somewhat scratchy foam that only compounds the irritation added by the pressure.

Strangely enough, my Sennheiser HD202 headphones have never given me a single bit of trouble in the pain department. They entirely enclose your entire ear and produce AMAZING sound (and are very inexpensive too might I add!). If only they came with a mic!

In conclusion, I would say if you have a pretty small head, then these would be great for you, and I'm by no means saying my head is enormous or anything. I'm 6'2", 190 lbs, so my head isn't petite, but I don't think it's out of the normal range of human cranium sizes at all. The sound quality is decent for a headset, the mic works great, and the additional features of the headset are wonderful (volume wheel/mic mute switch)! Just people with normal sized heads beware of the pain that will be coming. :)

  • Amazing Mic Best I owned!
    By A3RE35GXYCEZWG on 2004-10-31
The mic works really well. The sound is even greater! The best thing from this mic is the bass its so good and so clear not distorted, better bass than a whole stereo I think! Definetly great mic best mic I ever owned!!!! very reasonable price for the quality! Don't get a pci 155 unless you dont have sound card cause pci 150 is just as good!

  • hmmmm

At first when i got these headphones, they were great. But now, 2 weeks later they dont work. i plugged in another pair of headphones in my computer and they worked fine, but i just had these 2 weeks and they died out on me.......im wondering if there is a replacement warranty?

  • Great headset for the price
    By AKJZDFNBQV76V on 2005-10-24
The 4 stars are just to leave room for improvement.

I definitely recommend this headset above any other in the sub-$100 headset price range. The minor drawbacks are:

    Minimum volume a bit loud
Ear muffs rest on edges of ear, not around ear - a bit awkward with glasses

The most impressive feature of this headset is the mic - it works exactly as you'd prefer in every situation, picking up barely any background noise yet cleanly picking up your voice without any understanding of proper position etc.

  • Best bang for your buck
    By A1PVHY6WF6B10K on 2005-11-02
I do a lot of MMO gaming with voice software like Ventrillo and Teamspeak. When I traded my old Sony headphones and desktop mic for this headset I was impressed. No more echoing over the speakers, and great sound quality to boot. For this price you can't go wrong. The only 1 bad con I must say is the cord connection @ the headset seems rather flimsy. Although mine have been functional for over a year without issue.

  • Perfect for under $50
    By AU2DR1UQBZOOM on 2006-05-14
Anyone who thinks these are tight is crazy. It's like wearing nothing at all... nothing at all... nothing at all (/end Flanders quote).

Seriously though, I have a Conan O'Brien sized head and these are so comfortable it's scary.

  • Great for gaming and online talk ...
    By A38M8N7JVEL02I on 2004-08-26
The PC150's is an xint sounding headset but not quite audiophile quality ; they are however FANTASTIC for PC gaming (off or online) and for use with TS2 (TeamSpeak2). The noise-cancellation mic is xint and the headset is confortable . Look no futher for a great gaming experiance , but look a little deeper for hard music listening .
    All-in-all a very nice mic/headset and a great price @ Amazon ( sale price down to $36/SHIPPED)

  • Great overall

They sound great and the microphone works flawlessly with Ventrilo, but the headset is a bit too heavy for my taste and hurts my ears after about an hour of use. Otherwise I'd give them 5 stars.

  • Let Down

I thought the Senn's would be a good product.

    Pro's:

    1) Sound Quality is great
    2) Adjustable Volume inline
    3) Comfortable

    Cons:
    1) Cheaply made
    2) Falling apart! The Cusion on the top of the headset is already falling off - (only had for 3 weeks with light careful use)
    3) Returned one and getting ready to return the second.
    4) The Mike Boom will not stay in any position, it always falls to the bottom - thought maybe it was a bad pair, so returned them and this pair has the exact same problem.

  • Awesome Gaming Headset
    By A2D8YXPHF892OU on 2006-02-07
This is one amazing headset, I rely on them heavily when playing Battlefield 2. I do have trouble distinguishing whether some noises are coming from the right or left (but I'm sure it's just my ears -- my boyfriend has no trouble with that aspect.) The microphone is crystal clear, but I haven't yet tested it while gaming. Undoubtedly the results will be nothing short of incredible, being that Sennheiser knows how to satisfy their customers with good quality products. The headset is very comfortable, and I always had problems with my ears hurting after using any headset for a long time, but these I can wear for hours without complaint. It produces a very crisp sound, good bass -- very nice while gaming, as though you were in the game. Before buying these I thought I'd eventually get annoyed by its bulkiness, but they are surprisingly very lightweight -- however, you won't forget you're wearing them. I would have given this a 5 out of 5, but it is a little large for my head, and I wish it was made smaller. Right now it's like a large and allows room to adjust to an x-large skull. ;) One last comment, the microphone is very aesthetic. Where it is black you can bend and shape it to adjust closer to your mouth. Very simple and functional design. I will be buying another set.

  • Nice quality, affordable price..... good buy

At first it was giving me all sorts of problems with the mic.... but after a little use, I guess, it eased into perfection. The Noise Canceling for the mic does work, and does a decent job of canceling out sound BEHIND THE MIC(note the external mic for the noise canceling is right behind the actual mic, hence you need to speak directly into the front mic.) The whole mic probably has a metal wire to support and has a rubber coating, which makes it adjustable (flexible). I found that at a certain position it caught my voice perfectly, and there was NO disturbance/distortion. It can rotate at its BASE (left ear cup), and so can be rotated/placed above the headphones.

The headphones are also of pretty good quality. Its nothing compared to Grados or Triports, but it's better than your apple earbuds, or other headsets I have used. Its better in terms of Clarity of the mids, but Bass is seems to be low compared to other headphones (not other headsets). If you have ever heard Grado SR60, or Triports or Quiet comforts, Remove the Bass from them, Move them a little away from your ears and place a small cloth, and you are hearing these. Please remember that your voice is around the mid to low section. so there isnt any problem in terms of voice clarity. But a simple song like RIGHT HERE RIGHT NOW by fatboyslim is killed by these. They are ON-EAR headphones, which I am not personally a fan of. Like Grados they will apply some pressure on your ears. Also, after a few hours you will want to take these off(unlike triports).

The cord is pretty long (probably 8-9 ft), which is good and bad. I can walk a few steps here and there while talking, but it does get stuck in things. The vol control is on the cord, which is always a good thing, but about 3 ft from the headphones is a little.... misplaced.

Overall, for the price I got it for, these are really good. I wish the headset was as light as triports, and quality a little like GradoSR-80s... but I guess I am asking too much for this price.
I would recommend this to everyone looking for a headset at an average headset price.
