  Where has this pineapple slicer been all my life? Fresh pineapple is so much better than canned and this slicer makes preparing fresh pineapple a breeze. Easy to use and easy to clean up. This one is a winner!

  Forget about messy cleanup and wasted (expensive) pineapple - this gadget is simple to use and quickly turns that intimidating hulk into a totally cored, ready-to-eat fruit. Use the cored pineapple shell for drinks or fruit displays. I believe the inventor won an international design prize of some kind - he/she deserves it! You will be eating fresh pineapple within 30 seconds, and it cleans in 10 seconds under running water.

  This handy little slicer is easy to use and retrieves all of the edible parts of the pineapple with very little effort from me. Our kids get a kick out of watching the pineapple being cut into a fun swirl before digging in and enjoying. The empty shell can be used as a decorative server for cut fruit or drinks. The only problem we've encountered is if we cut the pineapple too close to the top it creates a suction when pulling the cut pineapple out out of its shell which results in the handle disconnecting from the bottom portion of the slicer. I think its a great gadget and have purchased one as a gift for friends.

  I am surprised by the unanimous 5 star rating for the product, I thought there might be at least some four, since the plastic cutting blades isn't really the best of its type.
  
  I saw that Vacu Vin have come up with a stainless steel version of the slicer, I hope Amazon can offer this version.

  I love this product! It takes all the hassle out of cleaning a pineapple. The shell is great to use as a serving bowl or for drinks too. Quick, easy to use and fast clean up - what more can you ask for?

  I figured I would take the time to review this item...because when I got it I thought it was the coolest thing ever. It does do exactly what it say it can do...though it would be a lot easier is it was powered. My arm hurt a bit after because I needed to force it down with a lot of pressure into the pineapple. • Pineapple Slicer

  I was looking for the mango slicer but saw the pineapple slicer and decided to go with it instead (mangoes got too expensive). You have to use some force to get the corer to go through a pineapple, but once you get through the end, you can pull the slicer out and viola, neat delicious pineapple slices tumble out. The only caveat is that some of the pineapple meat will remain on the sides that the slicer didn't get to, but you can always cut it away with a knife. The slices themselves are evenly cut and almost an inch thick. Delicious!
  
  Careful with the teeth of the slicer; even though it's all hard plastic, the teeth are quite sharp.

  I love this pineapple slicer. The only drawback is that, since I am short and my counter is somewhat high, I have a hard time applying enough pressure to the top of the slicer. I found it helps if I stand on a stool to get above it. Otherwise, it works great!

  Very nifty kitchen tool. Can be messy with the juice and all - but it defintely gets the core out and makes lovely pineapple spirals.

  When I unboxed this product, I thought that it was pretty cheap plastic, the instructions were too vague, and that I just threw money in the trash. Then I bought a couple of pineapples and put it to the test. This is awesome! The material doesn't need to be surgical stainless steel... it cut right into the center of the pineapple with ease. Also, the instructions didn't need to be more in-depth... there is no further thought process to put into it. Simplicity at its finest! I'd give it a fifth star if it had adjustable width for wider pineapples.

  If you love fresh pineapple but hate the trouble of cutting it up, this is the gadget to get. In under 30 seconds you'll be done. Consider getting the version with a set of 3 slicers. That's the one I bought from Amazon. It allows you to cut out as much of the 'meat' as possible leaving less on the sides to have to manually cut or scoop out. On the first pineapple I tried it on, the large slicer was just right. This single slicer version only has the medium blade which will work fine but leaves a bit of the pineapple remaining on the sides (see comments from other reviewers).

  I have not purchased a ripe pineapple due to the fact that it is so difficult to hand peel. So I have gone without this delicious fruit for too long. I happened on the slicer while browsing amazon and could not believe they had such a tool! I ordered it right then and it arrived in a few days. All that was said about it is really true! It cuts a pineapple in a matter of seconds leaving a very attractive bowel, the pinapple it self.

  This tool makes easy work of slicing pineapple, and leaves little to no waste.
  You can use the pineapple shell as a unique display bowl for the chunks of fruit,

  I found this gadget in the kitchen of the condo we rented in Hawaii. Without instructions to be found, we figured out what it was and how to use it. How wonderful!!! Fresh, spiral sliced pineapple in seconds. I didn't cut too deeply into the shell so it would hold liquid. I froze the shell and used it later as a drink container. Since it was frozen, the shell was like a mini ice cream freezer. The drink started to get slushy. Yum,Yum!! Once home, I located the set of 3 at Amazon.com-myGearstore. I use the med. blade most. What fun we have had.

  This little gadget is great. I never used to buy pineapple because I hated preparing it to eat. Now it's simple and quick. I'm glad I bought several of these, because I'm going to give them to my sisters. I know they'll love them also. • Company Won't Stand Behind Poorly Manufactured Product

  I used my Vacu Vin about three times before the handle broke off, and contacted the company through their website about a replacement handle. After two weeks I received no response and emailed them a second time.
  
  This time I received a hasty response as follows, "I have responded back to you 2 weeks ago and told you that we do not have extra pineapple slicer handles nor do we offer a warranty on this item."
  
  As far as the three times that I was able to use the slicer, it sometimes worked nicely, and sometimes mangled the pineapple. There was always a lot of wasted fruit with this device since it is made to accommodate smaller pineapples as well as larger.
  
  Save your money on this uni-tasker and practice your knife skills.
  
  UPDATE: After notifying them of my intention to post a review with my experience, I received an email offering to replace the device.

  I really enjoy this slicer, it makes slicing a pineapple a snap. Just cut the top of the pineapple off twist the handle all the way to the bottom of the pineapple and lift. It slices and cores your pineapple for you. I am sure everyone that gets this little slicer will love it.

  My husband used to give me a hard time about buying sliced Pineapple in the grocery store, since it is really expensive there in the midwest. He kept telling me to just buy whole pineapples, but I could never figure out how to cut them. I found this thing and bought it, just to try it out. It paid for itself in the first month because I can now get whole pineapples instead of the pricey sliced ones. It's really easy to use, easy to clean and amazingly efficient at slicing an entire pineapple in no time. I am not a huge fan of kitchen gadgets that do only one thing, but this one does it so well, I can't imagine living without it. I buy fresh whole pineapples every time I go to the store.

• Will Never Eat Caned Pineapple Again

  I love fresh pineapple; however, as we all know it is messy, time consuming to process, and, a pain to peel and core. Therefore, because of my busy schedule I was left with just canned pineapple. Last year I discovered this tool and have not eaten caned pineapple since. You just slice the top off a pineapple, place this tool on top and twist your way down, like a corkscrew, to the bottom, then pull up. You get PERFECT pineapple rounds, with no mess, no skinning, and, no coring. And best of all it takes the same amount of time it would to use a can opener on a tin. I cannot recommend this product more. I hope you all will enjoy it as much as I do.

  Although this item works I cannot see it working for a very long time.
  It is very hard to insert and turn and to pull out the pineapple takes some muscle. It comes in two pieces and the plastic handle top does not look like it will last long. I would try and find one that is more durable possibly made out of stainless steel.
