Dremel 8000-02 10.8-Volt Lithium Ion Cordless Rotary Toolx$69.42
    (72 reviews)
Best Price: $69.42
Higher speeds 5,000 35,000 rpm, same as Dremel corded models. High capacity 10.8V Lithium Ion battery pack for longer run times. Battery fuel gauge lets you know when its time to recharge. Variable speed to handle a greater range of applicat
Remember how cool we all thought that first Dremel was? We're reliving the feeling with this one: lighter, faster, smarter, better, and stronger. The main improvement over the last generation is the battery source: lithium-ion. There are so many reasons to applaud. Lithium holds its charge up to six times longer in storage than nickel-cadmium batteries, so it's ready when you are. Remember the disappointment when you were ready and your battery was low? That won't happen with this one. It's got a battery fuel gauge that tells you how much life is left before a recharge, so you won't be caught without your Dremel, and if you choose to keep it on its charger, you won't cause memory and shorten the charge capacity. It's small, it's light, it's comfortable and maneuverable; it's everything the corded models are, but without the cord. We love it.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste

The first truly useful cordless Dremel By A2PQBEWW2Q03V7 on 2003-11-27
I've used Dremel tools for over 15 years now. I've mainly stuck with the corded ones, as the battery-powered versions tended to run out of charge quickly, had less RPM, were generally heavier and usually had a lot less torque. The lithium version has none of these drawbacks. Because there's no cord it's more comfortable to hold (and much more convenient to use!), about the same weight as a corded model, and has plenty of RPMs and torque. Battery lifetimes are very good, and the "fuel gauge" seems to be reasonably accurate. (Exactly how long a charge will last depends greatly on what you're using it for--working on balsa wood uses a lot less power than, say, grinding metal.) Battery charge times are quite short, about three hours to charge a completely empty battery. (But thanks to a "smart charger" it should only take a few minutes to charge it after a typical job.) An added bonus is that lithium batteries hold their charges practically forever, so there's no need to "trickle charge" them; just charge it back up after you're done with it and put it away, and it'll be ready to use the next time you need it. The only nit I've found so far is the need to remove the battery to charge it. (This is probably for safety's sake.) It'd be slightly more convenient to just put the whole unit in the charger after use, but since it doesn't need charging that often this is really minor. I'd consider this to be an entirely practical replacement for a corded Dremel. For everything I use my Dremel for (mostly small models plus the occasional home repair task) this one seems more than adequate. It's a sturdy unit that should last a long time. My one concern about lifetime is how long the lithium battery will last; only time will tell.
This is a first look By A2DYN2VHOIVUDX on 2004-04-15
I've been using Dremels for a long time and always wanted a decent cordless. With the advent of decent cordless power tools (the first one that I had that was actually useful for something was an 18 volt DeWalt drill that went right through stuff my corded drills wouldn't touch, but that's another story) I've been waiting for Dremel to come out with a good cordless.I've been hesitant about the earlier cordless Dremels but this one looks like "it". So far it's done everything I've asked it to do but I haven't asked it to do much--I got it specifically to deal with a piece of acrylic that my cordless Rotozip melted instead of cutting--I figured the adjustable speed on the Dremel would take care of that and was right. Just an aside about stalling--if you're stalling a Dremel then it's time to take a good hard look at a Rotozip, which, if you've never played with one, is kind of a Dremel on steroids--Dremel has an equivalent, the "Advantage", but only the one model and not cordless. The lack of a provision to charge the battery with the tool attached is just carrying through the current practice with cordless tools--it's assumed that one will have two batteries, one on the tool and one on charge if this is an issue. There's space in the case for a second battery. A "gotcha" to be aware of with the lithium ion batteries, always store them charged--if they self-discharge below a certain point a protective circuit kicks in and they disable themselves--this is a safety issue--trying to recharge a lithium ion battery that is discharged below a certain point can result in an explosion (I'm not talking about a little spill--exploding lithium batteries in emergency-locator transmitters have brought down light aircraft). The bundled accessories are, near as I can figure it: Aluminum oxide stone #932 and #8193 Silicon carbide stone #84922 Aluminum oxide abrasive wheel #541 2 rubber polishing wheels #425 3 Large felt polishing wheels #429 5 Small felt polishing wheels #414 1 cutter, looks like a #181 1 drill bit, #150 1 Mandrel #401 (for felt pads etc) 1 Mandrel #402 (for sanding disks, cutoff wheels etc) Sanding cylinder mandrels 1/4" and 1/2" 4 80 grit 1/2" sanding cylinders 3 120 grit 1/2" sanding cylinders 4 80 grit 1/4" sanding cylinders 3 120 grit 1/4" sanding cylinders 11 sanding disks 17 cutoff wheels, 3 are thicker than the others, the others are in two containers of 10 and 4 but can't tell any difference between them. 1 wrench with screwdriver tip that fits screws on mandrels 1 case with a good deal of unused storage even after all the accessories are stored.
Nice but underdesigned By on 2004-05-14
I bought one of these at a local brick & mortar store for a project I'm working on. I am impressed with the power of the device and it is a really neat tool, but unfortunatley I've already had to return two of them for a defective speed control. While using it, the first one all of a sudden just jumped up to full speed and stayed there regardless of where the speed control was set. In other words, it was no longer variable. The second one did the same thing. Since I saw replacement brushes available for their tools (and therefore they must consider it somewhat user serviceable) I decided to open it up and see what it looked like inside. One of the transistors on the circuit board had gotten warm enough to melt the solder and shorted out two of the pins on the transistor. I'm on my third one now (just returned them at the store) and I first bought one about 2-1/2 weeks ago. Great tool but Dremel needs to work on their quality control.
I love this Dremel !!! By A37ZQUXK94A5HB on 2004-04-22
Mine is utilized for robotics projects--it finds a lot of uses with metal. I also bought the press accessory with it. This little accessory helps me make straight cuts and drill holes.I'm telling you, I use this thing constantly and it works like a champ! It is powerful enough for me to cut all my brass and aluminum with the precision of that of a doctor. For as handy as this tool is--I'd pay twice as much to get one if need be. I've had mine for 5 months too. One HUGE word of advice. WEAR SAFETY GOGGLES! I know this may sound lame, but it saved my @ss!!! When cutting some tubing, my disk exploded at full RPM's and the shrapnel hit me in the goggles. (Of course I had my fat head over top of it while I was cutting) Just be careful. The tool is A+, but the little thing could be dangerous if you slack on the safety.
Dremel Lithium Ion Rotary Tool-Model 800 By A10GWBOGUQ5PPB on 2003-11-11
Finally, a cordless rotary tool that holds it charge while being stored. Now I don't have to worry about charging my tool's batteries the night before I need it for a project. And the Lithium Ion batteries are environmentally safe--unlike Nickel Cadmium batteries. This tool is surprisingly smooth, yet seems as powerful as my old standby corded Dremel Model 395. At 35,000 RPM it is the fastest cordless rotary tool I've seen on the market. I like the sleek, ergonomic design. Based upon my previous experience with Dremel tools, I expect this tool to be trouble free for a long time.
- Nice....but
     By A3FON9LQUAWD0 on 2005-07-15
I've used Dremel tools for years, but never actually owned one, so this year, after taking up RC airplane building as a hobby (Dad really wanted a boy ;-) ), I decided to go with the Li-Ion Model 8000. The Li-Ion technology is incredible, plenty of power, no memory effect, keeps it's charge...just about perfect.
One of the reasons I went with a Dremel was the attachments, here's where the disappointment comes in...many of the attachments don't fit this model (I hope I can add the word "yet"). So if you're ordering this and it's your only Dremel, make certain the attachment says it fits the 8000...don't assume, like I did, that there is backwards compatibility...there isn't. I learned this the hard way with both router table and hand-held router.
If you're considering this, an incredibly handy addition is the chuck...no more messing with collets...hooray! Also, you'd be wise to buy the 145 piece accessory kit, it adds a lot more versatility in cutting, shaping, and grinding.
All said, this is one of my favorite tools...now if Dremel would make some cool accessories that fit it, I'd be giving this five stars, rather than four!
- Cord or cordless?
     By A2PL4KZQJ0VFOB on 2005-05-12
I bought the Dremel 10.8v rotary cordless drill for the purpose of removing tile grout. At first it worked well. But, the battery only lasted 45 minutes. Then the problems started. The 1/16 inch grout bits only lasted a few minutes then broke. I had better luck when I was removing 1/8 inch grout because the 1/8 inch bit lasted for hours before it started getting dull. Since the grout bits are not well made, I found another brand that cuts much better, much cheaper in price, and last longer.
I HAD to get the grout removed and this was the only tool I found that would do that. But, after a few days the Dremel broke. I still had grout to take care of, so I bought a corded Dremel to continue the work while the cordless was sent in for repairs. To the credit of Dremel, the cordless was promptly repaired and returned along with a free accessory for my trouble. I started using the cordless again and it stopped working again. This time it just stayed on fast speed. So, off it went to the post office again to send in this thing for repair. It is repaired again, but this time I am using the corded Dremel.
I also tried the tool on other jobs such as removing paint from a window frame, sanding a small section of wood, drilling a pilot hole for a screw, and cutting off a screw that I could not remove. What I found was that the Dremel did a fair job if you have a steady hand. However, some of the accessories either break easily or grind down quickly. And these accessories are not cheap. You can easily spend 3 times the price in bits and accessories than what you pay for the tool itself.
The bottom line is, this thing is mostly good for small work such as crafts. But, can also come in handy when a large drill or sander just will not fit. Just stay away from the cordless.
- Not impressed
     By A3435XUKOVX40C on 2005-08-05
I am not impressed in the least with the 8000-01 model. I have been using dremel's for a number of years now and this is the first one I have purchased.
I am a service tech and do alot of traveling for repairs. I work on a lift or high on a ladder so extension cords are troublesome and possibly dangerous. Most of the places I go have limited outlet availability so the cordless model seemed perfect for me. I have used it less than 2 months and the speed guage is already malfunctioning, the battery lasts about 30 mins at best and it takes 3 hours to charge. I was going to purchase a spare battery but the average price I could find is $45 compared to $70 I paid for the tool. Not very cost effective in my book.
- Lithium-Ion is SOO worth it!
     By A5JUBH1NXHZQW on 2004-06-23
I've always wanted a dremel and thought that the cord would be fine. But now I'm glad I went with the cordless. I use it in the back yard, around the house, at work. Not only that, Lithium-Ion technology is outstanding. Blows doors off those old nickel rechargable batteries.Lithium-Ion is the same technology being used in the most current cell phones. It doesn't have memory problems like the old rechargables so you can charge it at any time, YOU DON'T HAVE TO WEAR THE BATTER DOWN BEFORE YOU CHARGE! Also, the charging time is a fraction of what it used to be. If I run out, I put the battery on the charge for less then an hour and I have enough juice to finish the job. Typically, full recharging only takes 3 hours. I highly recommend that you get this dremel (8000-01 10.8 Volt Lithium-Ion) if it is your first time, second dremel, or a dremel enthusiast.
- Handy for some things but Stalls way too easily
     By A2X06FP2PQ6EK0 on 2004-03-12
This can be very handy when you need a Dremel tool but can't or don't want to get out the extension cord. Biggest drawback is that it Stalls way too easily and that trips the internal circuit breaker. Then you have to shut off the tool, wait a few seconds, then you can turn it back on. That means that a lot of simple quick jobs are going to take a lot longer than they should have. Only option is to be very very careful not to Stall the tool but then it will still take longer to finish the job. I'm not using this tool anywhere near what I had hoped to, instead I'm getting the extension cord out and using my regular Dremel. Other drawback is that the Battery Packs are very expensive considering their size and power. I would still buy it but overall I'm disappointed with this tool and will continue to look for an alternative that doesn't have this tool's problems.
- Great Tool
     By A259CSZH0ULO04 on 2003-12-03
I wish I'd bought one years ago. I've only had it for a month, and I've used it several times. I do wish, however, that I'd bought it at Sears. They sell it for $65. Edit: When I reported the price at Sears to Amazon, Amazon matched Sears price, lowered their price from $75, and gave me a refund on the difference, accounting for the tax that I would have paid here in Indiana. i.e., Amazon stays up with and ahead of competition. I even got free delivery.
- No strings (or cords) attached
     By A2MW5O8JHDH3AW on 2006-07-04
I had a dream I could find a small, rotary power tool that I could easily wield in one hand with accuracy approaching a dentist's drill. It was a tool not only convenient in size but did not have a heavy cord constantly "catching" on my chair, back of my arm, on the corner of the table etc. It was nearly as powerful as a corded version and ball-raced so it was quiet and smooth in operation. At my local home store amid the squeaking and clattering of lumbar carts and smell of cut pine I was awakened to the realization my dream may have come true...and her name was Dremel?? (Dr.Freud would have fun with me) The Dremel Model 800 Lithium-Ion Cordless (not 8000 as Amazon states) will not replace an orthodontist's precision $1000, stainless instrument. At under $ however, it's about as close as it gets. No dreaded anticipation here as this little Dremel is quite fun.
I have owned three Dremels, this is number three and my first cordless. The previous two worked adequately, nothing to shout about just did their job as expected. I would never purchase Dremel's previous cordless models and haven't to date. Small, cordless tools usually equate to poor power and no torque. There have been several earlier models at 7.2v and 4.8 termed MultiPro and MiniMite respectively. The consensus I've found were that torque and power were abysmal. I had a great deal of concern regarding this "new version". Would it actually replace my corded Dremels? In a word, yes.
With Lithium Ion technology, both torque and power (length of use) I found impressive. It exceeded my expectations. This is not a last minute, dump-something-on-the-market product from Dremel. I have the impression they really put some R&D into it. I don't know if the torque is equal to my corded. I can't tell the difference. (A compliment in disquise) The battery lasts longer than anticipated, again another compliment. The 3 LEDs are of questionalbe accuracy, but a nice benchmark to go by. The variable speed dial is quite accurate on mine, allowing me to speed up or slow down with a great deal of control. The fit and finish is as good as any previous model. The battery is easily attached/removed and quite cute. "Why does it remind me of a shoe off a Cabbage Patch doll?"
My only significant complaint is ergonomics. I fully admit this may be subjective. As can be seen, the tip has a rubber-like covering for better tactile feel and grip. It is also indented or tapered on the sides and underneath. It feels awkward to me. I think the problem could have been remedied if the tapering circumscribed the entire tip rather than just the sides/bottom. I'm pretty average when it comes to the size of my paws. I couldn't imagine someone with dainty fingers trying to hold this thing with one hand and getting maximum precision. The tool's weight is primarily at the other end, so the tip constantly wants to lift up (battery other end drops down). The center of gravity is toward the back 1/3 of the tool. Similarily for those with large paws I would think the difficulty might arise from the tip being rather narrow and the shaft lock button easily pressed. My solution? I use it inverted with LEDs facing down. This way I don't accidently hit the shaft lock button with my forefinger and the tapering on the bottom is more adapting for it (forefinger).
"Bling". Something that pleasantly surprised me was the ability to use many of the same accessories the corded models utilize. I shop for many mini tools from Micro-Mark, a small tool speciality site. In their catalogs it explicitly states the Right Angle Drive, Dremelite, Flexible Shaft and Plunge Router Attachment accept the 800 series, the only cordless model. This makes a huge difference to me as it now opens the world to most of Dremel's attachments for cordless use and at the same time doesn't make my corded model a dinosaur. Best of both worlds, cordless capablity with corded power and attachments, great! The case is another nice surprise. My previous Dremels had tiny, cheap cases that were clearly designed for light hobby use only. This case "appears" like it could be dropped off your roof and survive (no I haven't tried, I don't need Freud's advice that badly). Except for it's plastic hinge, it is of a build similar to my Bosch, Makita and Porter Cable tool cases. It's quite sturdy, capable of holding the unit, charger, accessories and two batteries (one battery in unit). It will also hold the manual in it's lid. A capable design.
The Dremel gets five/five stars not because it's perfect as the ergonomics are a bit quirky (to me), but there's nothing currently on the market that equals the Model 800 in price and capability. It's the best of its current class.
The Pros:
***No more cord!
***Impressive torque and power (for cordless)
***Pretty good compatibility with Dremel accessories
***Three LED power status indicators
***Convenient well designed case (will also hold extra battery)
***Price. (If purchased at Amazon or on discount elsewhere)
The Cons:
***Price. Accessories = profits. Xtra battery? Ouch!
***Ergonomically formed handle?
***Get it here or on sale. (Prices vary greatly for this unit)
Summary: Corded capability in a mini rotary and no "strings attached" is now reality. No more dreaming.
- Gona be hard to beat this one
     By A38M6MDSE2N7QH on 2003-12-09
I have owned a dremel corded tool for about 10 years. I wanted a cordless dremel to use at work. I bought a 7.2v cordless...but I did not use it. It did not have enough speed on the high end 15,000 rpm's. I took it back...for a refund. I looked at the 9.6v cordless dremel, but it was too long...the 10.8v cordless dremel... Light weight, fabilous battery, the control knob a plus...I have had it for 1 month and no complaints.
- Dremel Quality?????
     By A37LXRNGUSSC7Q on 2006-04-29
I have had Dremel tools for years. Still have a 115 volt drill that has worked fine for years.
I purchased the Dremel 8000-01 because I could see it as a very useful tool. Well, the first one I had changed speeds on its own. I would set the speed I wanted, then without warning the speed would slow down or speed up, depending on the tools mood (I guess). Sometimes it did work just fine. So I returned the unit and received a replacement.
The second unit is really, really loud (a nasty high pitched whine) and it vibrates really bad a low speeds.
Needless to say it's going to be returned.
It's sad the Dremel quality control as fallen to this level. Because if the tool functioned properly I would be quite happy with it.
Should I try a third one?
- Speed controller burned out after 2 months of moderate use.
     By A121CHHFUYJI54 on 2007-05-11
I've been using Dremel tools for about 10 years in my model making hobby/crafts, working mostly with soft plastic resin and soft and hard woods. I never had a problem with the corded tools and currently own 2 corded models (the pro with the digital speed control and the newer XPR after my 395 model was stolen). I thought I'd give going cordless a try, particularly since this tool didn't seem to be lacking in power. The speed controller burned out after 2 months of moderate use (sanding, cutting soft resin). I don't know if it was a lemon since it was working fine for two months. It now is only a two-speed, on and off. I'm sending it back to Dremel for service since it's obviously still under warranty but to pay for shipping myself and not even have an RMA to feel secure about sending it in with doesn't strike me as good customer service. At least they're not charging me (as far as I know) to ship it back after they're done fixing it. As a long time Dremel customer, I'm disappointed both with the product and the lack of customer support.
- Very Handy to Have on the Workbench
     By A1TDR47HOR9ZP3 on 2004-12-20
It's a gadget world! Some gizmo's are okay and some set the standard. The Dremel Cordless Rotary Tool is a shop tool that you will find highly useful if you tinker or are a hobbyist of any type that builds things.
What I have learned since buying it. The case allows for the battery shipped to store in the hand tool, meaning you have a place for a 2nd lithium battery. As of the time of this review, Amazon didn't carry the battery, but can be found on eBay using search "Lithium Ion 855". $29.99 is pretty good price.
Amazon does sell the Dremel 697-05 Super Accessory 145 pc Assortment kit. You will need this. Very few tip attachments come with the factory tool kit. For $16.00, it's certainly worth the extra money and it comes with a free blade sharpener.
Not much more to say then if you have a tool bench and you spend time on your bench... you will want this.
- Great for beadmakers!
     By A2D3VCSMJFI4IA on 2005-07-21
I love my new cordless Dremel. Put a diamond drill bit in there and I take it along to bead shows. When I need to adjust a bead hold, Viola! All I need is a cup of water. It also comes in handle cleaning out bead release. To me, it is worth its weight in gold.
Thanks to Amazon I found it and at a great price too!
- It could be a lot Better!
     By A12NB047TDWMWY on 2006-08-14
THE GOOD
This Dremel 10.8 Lithium-Ion Cordless is very light and easy to use. It very versatile because it is cordless!
THE BAD
The bad thing is it runs out of power too fast and it takes 3 hours to recharge. I don't know anything about the "smart charger" mentioned by a previous reviewer.
If I connect the Flex-Shaft and fiber reinforced cutoff wheel, there is only enough charge to slice one 3/8 inch bolt. Then it takes 3 hours to recharge the Lithium battery.
WHAT DREMEL SHOULD HAVE DONE!
Dremel should have designed it with a 18 to 20 Volt Lithium-Ion Battery that will truly "quick charge".
I will dump this Dremel when one of the other "name brands" comes out with a more powerful lithium cordless rotary tool. Unfortunately, Dremel is the only game in town at the moment.
- Very handy, but light-duty construction
     By A322MHEI7WSC6 on 2006-10-06
This is a very handy tool, but not intended for heavy use.
Pros:
Li-ion cordless has no battery charge memory problems
Has adequate power for light tasks
Cons:
Motor lacks torque and stalls easily
Width of the body makes it difficult to work at 90-degree angles with cutoff wheels.
Collet mechanism is made of metal, which is good. However the plastic housing around it it too soft and warps too easily, which is bad. Beware of overtightening the bits, because you may never be able to remove them. I've had a few that broke this way. I always tighten by hand, but when lending them out I usually don't warn the users about it and sometimes they come back with a bit stuck with no way to remove it.
- Delicate Tool
     By A2DJRPFY4M99NZ on 2005-01-30
I had wanted this Dremel for quite some time but I found this one to be much too delicate for my use. This particular Dremel Tools' (and perhaps all Dremel motors) use of what would seem to be plastic internal gearing make it unsuitable for tasks such as cutting a single thin wall tile -- even though Dremel sells bits claiming to be designed for this purpose. I mention plastic gears although I have not disassembled the tool to confirm this suspicion but regardless of the actual material used this item is too delicate for some uses that Dremel claims it is capable of. Caveat emptor!
- Problems with parts!
     By AUTH036HTEV61 on 2006-03-28
Overall the unit is great, but wait untill you need you need a battery or charger replacement....I don't think my charger ever worked properly. A new one is almost half the total cost of the unit.....Battery about the same!
- rheostat burned out.....a throw away item
     By A3A44UTKU7MS0X on 2007-03-22
I received this tool for Christmas last year. I rarely used it most of the year because I have a Foredom tool and also a corded Dremel. I kept it because it was a present. I have used it now in carving ducks and some small wooden utensils. I just found out that my rheostat has burned out and the variable speed control doesn't work. Considering the small amount of use that I have put on this tool, I am disappointed in its durability. I would not recommend this tool.
- The best
     By A22LE0GWP36UZW on 2005-02-14
This dremel is the best cordless rotary tool out there it has plenty of power with power to spare there just isn't enough room for me to say how good it is. Plus the customer support is just amazing they care about the customer and they are willing to help above and beyond.
- Just Great
     By ABCMP6RGHCSK on 2006-03-11
I am a regular purchaser on Amazon. It's a Dremel and it performs to the standard you would expect from a old time company like Dremel. I am very happy with the purchase. As usual Amazon ships quickly and often gets to me long before the delivery date they show. The battery stays charged even when not in the charger Dremel states will hold 80% charge for four months without being in the charger..The free shipping on items over $25 is a no brainer...
- Not Everything Expected
     By ACX864S6L43PK on 2004-08-17
Don't get me wrong, Dremel Rotary Tools are nice ... and the idea sounds great ... but I've found the reality to be that they are less useful than initially thought.
Another drawback ... the price of accessories. Dremel must think their poo don't stink, because the prices are outrageous on accessories (which you'll need to make the tool useful).
- Saved us after Hurricane Katrina
     By A2VTLUGHUGAVEW on 2007-01-19
Before Hurricane Katrina, we were living in an apartment in Bay St. Louis, MS, and building a house nearby. The house under construction and our apartment were destroyed, totally. Almost everything we owned was stored in a commercial storage unit that was under 20 feet of water. We could not get to the unit for three weeks and when we did, there was no electricity and everything was knee-deep in stinking mud, dark, and rusted. The only way I could get into my storage unit was with the diamond cutting wheel on my Dremel 800 -- I used it to cut the shank off the high-security lock on the unit. The owner of the units was so impressed he asked me to find a Dremel 800 in Baton Rouge, LA, and bring it to him. We set up a shuttle of charged batteries and replacement wheels -- he used his Dremel to cut off over 150 locks on storage units. Everything in our unit was a total loss but the Dremel performed flawlessly.
- Fantastic!
     By A24FG887YKIL7V on 2006-03-01
This tool has all the power of a corded one, with convenience of cordless. Dremel did a great service to woodworkers and hobbyists by coming up with this one. I can't think of any way of improving on this great tool, other than Dremel offering an extra battery without having to buy a second charger.
- State of the Art in cordless Dremel tools
     By A30E4U49BS5X7S on 2005-02-04
I have used Dremel tools for over 30 years and have recently found that cordless tools of any brand add another dimension to a tools user friendliness. I tried a number of other Dremel like tools that were cordless, but none could compare to this tool. If you need a rotary tool like this one, spend you money on this one. You will be glad you did.
- Great tool, but....
     By A2LIMXCAPNFMX2 on 2006-07-27
Wonderful little tool, though I thought the choice of accessories that came with it was completely random. I had abundance of certain things (cloth polishing wheels, sanding barrels, & cutting wheels) but NO brushes or compound....so its off to DYI-center to start to round out the accessories....
I am completely satisfied with the performance.

This product seems to have the same power as the one that is plugged in. However, there are alot of occasions when I need a smaller rotary tool outside and plugging it is becomes a hassle. I am finding are real great convenience tool so far. Still holding a charge for a long period. It seems to be just what I had hopped it would be.
