Works great with my iCarPlay unit... By A1XPNKJWTITV0W on 2004-10-15
I bought the Belkin TuneDok last week in preparation for a long road trip with my iPod and my newly purchased iCarPlay from Monster Cable. I was a bit concerned that the TuneDok might not allow the iCarPlay's cable to plug into the bottom of the iPod, but the hole at the bottom of the cradle is big enough. The suction cup at the back of the cradle keeps the iPod from moving around, and the cradle itself is adjustable for different angles depending on the location of your cup holder. All in all a great accessory for iPod fans.
Very handy for using the iPod in your car By A39W90XIONOXON on 2004-08-16
This is a real simple product. Just place it in your cup holder (it comes with three sizes to choose from), and place the iPod unit into it. A suction cup keeps the unit in place.
It does a fine job holding the iPod steady when you are using the menu. Nice and balanced. You can place the iPod at an angle or keep it flat. I prefer keeping it flat.
Not much more to say other than the price is reasonable at $17.99 (as of August 16th).
Works in Theory, but not well in practice By A3O5GQYE23E0AH on 2005-10-11
I purchased this for my Toyota truck and my 20 gig iPod. SURPRISE! The dock doesn't fit if you have your iPod in a case--iSkin, or other one. Hmmmm. Have to remove it from its protective case to use this? Put the base in the cupholder. SURPRISE! It isn't deep enough to bottom out and hold the iPod steady, once I remove it from the case. So, I have a wobbly holder that holds my iPod in place--sort of--once I take 5 minutes to remove the case.
Thank you, not. Save your money and buy some songs from iTunes.
somewhat of a hassle By A29PQH8RIUG4KZ on 2004-12-21
This car holder for your ipod is useful, but a bit of a hassle to use. It grips the ipod through a suction cup. There's 2 problems with this. As it grows older, I imagine the suction cup won't suck as well and a big bump may cause the ipod to fall out. While the suction cup is new, removing the ipod from the holder is a two-handed operation and requires adjusting the tilt, which is a hassle.
Another problem with the tunedok is that it doesn't have an integrated docking plug. If you want to plug in a power adapter to your ipod, you have to tilt the dock all the way sideways, locate the port on your ipod, align it with the hole, and then aim. Needless to say, you can't do this while driving, and definitely not with one hand.
In short, the use of this dock requires preparation before you drive, not as you're driving. Not very convenient. Sure it's relatively cheap, but this inconvenience makes it almost not worth buying. You might as well buy a sticky pad on your dashboard and put the ipod on top. It's quick and painless.
Really Handy By A2V0D4S0Z2P993 on 2004-05-24
I got this for my new iPod and I'm surprised to see how great it is! Firsat I thought this set isn't that great but when I got it I just realized how perfect it is. Awsome quality! There is this option to adjust the iPod in many different ways. There are two or three cups, come with it, so you can just change them if they didn't fit your cupholder. Holds the iPod really good so it, iPod, wont be damaged. You can also get these from eBay if you think that the price isn't worth it cause you cacn get much cheaper from eBay. Beleive Me!
- iCarPlay and 60 GB iPod Photo don't play well with tunedok!
     By A1YS1X3XF669XK on 2005-03-12
I bought an iCarPlay along with my new iPod Photo 60 GB and I thought this would be a great addition for my car to go along with the iCarPlay.
After reading the review that said it worked fine with the iCarPlay, I bought it. Now that I have it, it doesn't work with the "thicker" 60 GB iPod photo. I shouldn't say it doesn't work, it does put quite a bit of stress (more than I will allow) on the dock port when it is firmly suction-cupped into place with the iCarPlay unit inserted into the dock port. I had visited Belkin's site to ensure compatibility and they said that it would work (just not with an iPod mini).
So to get it to work with the larger, 60 GB iPod Photo will require an unnatural act performed with a hacksaw (remove the little piece that goes across, leaving only the two pieces that stick out to support the iPod from falling). That should solve the problem and at the same time, void the warranty...Bummer, but for the current price, I'm more worried about potential problems with my iPod than this unit.
This is my only gripe and it is very specific. To even encounter this problem, you'd have to use this product, the Monster iCarPlay unit and a 60 GB iPod Photo (the only one that is currently this thick). If you are using anything else (like a smaller form-factor iPod), then you won't have this problem.
Everything else about the unit is great. I was worried about the suction cup at first, but it appears to hold the iPod with no problems at all. Nice work Belkin.
- Product Good- Description Bad
     By AWIH1ME9JDVZ0 on 2005-01-19
"Innovative AirGrip technology holds your iPod to your car dash/cup holder" Oops, AirGrip holds the iPod, it does _not_ attach to car dash. I'm sure that it would be jim-dandy if I had a center cup holder...
- NOT for iPods with protective covers
     By A31JDCJ3ECCX8C on 2006-03-10
If your iPod has a protective cover (e.g. skin, casing, etc.), then the iPod will not fit in the holder of this kit. Otherwise, you can fit a bare (uncovered) iPod on it well.
* The kit fits well inside vehicle cup holders of various sizes, including adjustable cupholders.
* The holder swivels, so you can have your iPod facing straight up or at various angles.
* The opening at the bottom of the holder is convenient for plugging a charger into the iPod.
* The holder uses a suction cup to firmly grasp the iPod. It actually holds the iPod well.
- Simplicity Works Best
     By A1QFMC6B2O1QMG on 2004-10-21
OK, it's not very good-looking and it sits in a drink holder. The thing is, it's so simple, it makes sense! You have the iPod right where you need it, close to you and to the electrical plug-in. I use mine with the Monster iCar FM transmitter and it works really well. Look around though, you can find the TuneDok for about $10.
- SO convenient!
     By A1BRHB16VNIJCN on 2005-03-02
It Protects your ipod, holds it where you want it, and can be used for a docking station on your desk aswell!!!
plenty of room for any "plug in's" you might have for your ipod at the base. doesnt move around in the car like the DLO trandspod does. and IF the suction cup ever does wear out, its easily replacable for about $1...
- Won't fit all cars
     By A2ZWPZOOR2TZF6 on 2005-03-06
Things will vary depending on what car you have. I have a '99 Honda Accord, and this product does not fit snugly into the cup holder. It is stable enough to hold the iPod without falling over though, and I haven't found any better option.
- It does its job
     By A32Z1TDULHZNVK on 2005-08-16
The Belkin TuneDok is what it is. There are 2 different base sizes and a rubber grip to pretty much fit all standard cupholders. There is also a length extender if you feel your ipod sits too low. It securely holds the ipod and is easy to move.
My *only* gripe with this item is that it's not convenient if you have something coming out of the base of your ipod, as the length of motion is limited by the base of the dock station. There is a hole to run the wires through, but if you want to pick up your ipod you can only life it away so much as it the holder limits the range. A simple fix for this was to just place the iPod in the holder upside down so that I could remove it from the dock without having to deal with unplugging the power cord.
- Very good, but check your cup holder first.
     By A16TB9ALD71LHC on 2005-08-20
This is a great product, but sometimes when you put it in some cup holders, the weight of the ipod will tumble it. Is better when your cup holder is like a ring and not a hole.
- Very functional, but doesn't fit with case ...
     By AW349P2T3AHAM on 2006-01-14
The Tunedok definitely does what it'ssuppose to do. The only downside is that it doesn't fit with my Video iPod case on. So, I need to keep taking the case on & off.
- worth this price
     By A2NY8L35YRV6T4 on 2005-08-13
This cup holder is worth for its price. Fits perfectly in my car.
For those who cannot fit, try having the cup holder with one inside the other.
The suction caps helps ipod from moving and a great accessory for ipod.
But if you keep changing the album/music while driving, this maynot be helpful. you might have to take the ipod out with the whole cupholder. because the suction caps holds the ipod so hard that it may not be possible just to take the ipod from the holder without getting distracted or looking down while driving.
- A Simple Solution
     By A180SYNGLMUXLD on 2005-01-13
After researching various solutions for using my iPOD in my vehicle, this product seems to be the simplest. So far I am pleased, however I feel like after time, the suction cup that holds the iPOD in place will deteriorate. Also, the "cup" part that goes in your cup holder was almost too small for my Jeep Wrangler. Another concern is that my vehicle has very stiff suspension and I'm sure if I hit a big enough pot hole or if I was on a dirt road that the iPOD would go flying out.
However for most vehicles on the road, this is a simple and affordable way to manage your iPOD.
- A must have accessory for an iPod enthusiast!!!
     By A3QW19PZ240XYY on 2004-11-29
I just ordered a 4G 20GB iPod along with this accessory. This is a perfect accessory for your car or your home. It's a simple installation, just choose the cup size that fits in your car and you're ready to go. You can also use this in your home as an iPod desk stand simply flip the base upside down and insert the screw (the neck that will hold your iPod) and tilt or adjust it to the angle you like. Your iPod stays tight in place, and plus it has a clip to help you keep the audio cables in place. I would recommend every iPod user that has a car to get this cool accessory that also matches your white iPod color!
- If you have cupholders & an iPod, you need this accessory!
     By A1F9Z42CFF9IAY on 2005-06-07
After months of dangerously fiddling with my iPod connected to my car stereo with the iPod just resting on the passenger seat or between the two front seats, I finally got the Belkin TuneDok. What a life saver it has been.
No longer do I have to worry about the iPod flying around when I make a sharp turn. And I even can see the display with a quick downward glance. I can also change songs or settings with one hand easily because of the TuneDok. And it looks better and more sleek too. Passengers have commented how useful this accessory seems-it really puts your cup holder to good use.
My only complaint is that the mount tends to slightly scratch the silver rear section of the iPod. This is the only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars. If your iPod is already used, or if you don't care about getting slight scratches on it, you have nothing to worry about. If your iPod is totally brand new, just be aware that it won't look that way for long no matter what you do.
For the price, if you have cupholders in your car, I would say this is a must have accessory for your iPod.
- Belkin TuneDok for iPod
     By AJCXH9YG0P543 on 2005-09-27
This is a great product and works very well. I use it in my car all the time. It holds the iPod in place yet allows me to use the earphones if I choose. The base is stable and keeps the iPod in place.
- Fits nicely into the cup holder
     By A3KJTHV1NQ990F on 2005-08-02
One thing to keep in mind, however, is that in certain cars, the cup holders are right next to each other. This would render your other cupholder unusable just like you can't put anything in the second cupholder if you fit in super-size drink. Having said that, it fits right and the inclination adjusts great.
- Useful, but not perfect
     By A3IQCTPYQ32ADP on 2005-08-09
I bought the Belkin TuneDok a few weeks ago in preparation for a long vacation road trip with my iPod. I also purchased the iCarPlay from Monster Cable. I have a 2005 suburban and although the TuneDok comes with several "cups" none fit very securely in the cup holder. The TuneDok did hold the iPod securely and the adjustable stand was easy to set so that I could see to operate my iPod. Since the cup wasn't held very securely by the cup holder, it was a bit difficult to operate the touch wheel. All in all, the TuneDok is a great idea but the lack of a secure fit in the cup holder makes it less than perfect.
- It's ok
     By A1UKECSFW24LYJ on 2005-10-01
The product is fine, it really helps you to fix your Ipod in your car so you don't have to worry about it. You get what you pay for it.
- Belkin Tune Dock
     By AOWPCVUSKH3RT on 2005-10-06
The tune dock holds the iPod well - three sizes of holder to accomidate most cup holder sizes.
- It works
     By A1PD6NNCLVBOHD on 2006-11-10
This product works well. You can change the base part in order to fit a variety of holders. Theres room to plug in an fm transmitter on the port dock on the underside. I can even fit my ipod in this with a speck silicone case on it which is convenient.
- Almost great.
     By A2OI0O7K90ELEL on 2007-03-27
Its held in place with a suction cup... clever, but a touch inconveinient to reach around the back to release. Also, the bottom of the holster has a hole to accomidate the cord for the attachments... but then the cord is threaded through the hole. But since there is nothing else on the market similar...
- This is awesome.
     By A1JSCVK4D8K6KT on 2005-02-24
This is the best accsesory I have purchased for my iPod yet. It comes with different size cups to fit your cup-holder, so don't worry about it not fitting. The suction cup holds the iPod very securely. It looks great because it matches the styling of the iPod. There is enough room behind the dock in the cup to store your FM transmitter or cords from your charger.
Maybe the coolest thing is that when you're not using it in your car, you can turn the cup upside down and use it as a stand for your desk. This is a great product, and well worth the money.
- Nice addition for your iPod accessories family
     By AQK2G1D4AABML on 2005-07-03
Once I got the iTrip for my iPod mini, I realized that I was going to need a place to put the mini. This cup holder modification was just what I needed. The package actually comes with a couple of different diameters so that you can find the one that works best with your cup holders. I see that the website shows a suction cup iPod holder and other reference this but the one that I got had a clip similar to the belt clip that came with my mini. This holds the iPod very snugly. the only disadvantage that I can see to this arrangement is that if you have a skin or cover for your iPod you will probably not be able to use this as it will increase the external measurements to outside the clips range. There is plenty of clearance both above and below the iPod for accessory usage (i.e. iTrip and car adaptor.) You'll like this one.
- Does what it should.
     By A15Q0XDTYYAAF9 on 2005-08-02
This thing works pretty well, suction cup holds iPod firmly. You cannot really use an iPod case and the this holder at the same time -- It would be better if they made the width somewhat adjustible or something....
- Great Purchase
     By A3OBII2E6N8FOU on 2005-08-06
This was purchased as part of a gift for my husband and he absolutely loves it. Thank you.
- Oh the things you can buy for your iPod
     By AC1AGFUCH6UES on 2006-04-06
After I bought my iPod a charger, a tape adapter, an FM broadcaster, a case, a running wheel, and a water bottle, I decided it needed a holder to keep it safe in the car. These little Belkin numbers are quite nifty. They hold the iPod in a nice position in my cupholder such that I can glance down at it instead of picking it up when I need to review the playlists/switch songs. Overall a nifty product - now even better that it's a little cheaper.
