La Crosse Technology TX6U Wireless Temperature Sensorx$12.35
    (57 reviews)
Best Price: $19.95 $12.35
IN or OUT Temp Sensor Weather Resistant Dimensions: Sensor: 5.5" x 1.625" x 1" Specifications: Power requirements: 2 "AA" Alkaline batteries © Many modern homes have up-to-date clocks or mini weather stations that depend on radio-transmitted data to stay calibrated and current. The La Crosse TX6U works outdoors by sensing temperature and transmitting that information to an indoor station. It can transmit to a base up to 80 feet away. The TX6U can be added to augment information coming to La Crosse units already in operation. Remove batteries from base units first and activate sensors; then replace batteries in base units and press no buttons until a display appears. Multiple sensors can be assigned a number so that it will be clear which information from which sensor is displayed. The TX6U operates on two AA batteries. Its housing is made of durable, neutral-tone plastic. The sensor works with all La Crosse weather clocks and stations except the Professional Weather Center Series: WS-2010, WS-2210, WS-2310, WS-2315 and WS-2510. For options in wall mounting, two screws and screw anchors and a strong adhesive tape are included. The TX6U measures 5-1/2 by 1-1/2 by 1 inch. La Crosse provides a one-year limited warranty on its sensors. Each sensor comes with a detailed instruction sheet. --Garland Withers

Not designed for accuracy By A1Z52VAYDR742T on 2005-03-19
The specs on this unit are +/- 2 degrees "under normal conditions". That probably means "at room temperature." At winter temps, freezing and below, this unit is over 5 degrees off. La Crosse more or less admits to this on their web site. The saddest thing is that the LaCrosse base stations display outside temperatures to 1/10th of a degree - for a sensor that is +/- 2 degrees at best and generally not even that close.
High failure rate By A2A8YQKZYZDTX1 on 2005-08-28
Very disappointed with the lifespan of the LaCrosse remote sensor. The original I received with the weather station failed after four months, and a replacement I purchased lasted about as long. I like my LaCrosse weather station a lot and have had no problems with the main unit, but I don't want to purchase a new remote unit three or four times a year.
What's the temp? By AO7KQACMM6U0B on 2006-03-12
The sensor works well and so far the batteries have lasted really well considering they are in the cold all day long. The only concern or warning I have is NOT to put the batteries in backwards. Most electronic devices withstand that without permanent damage. Not this device. Be carefull putting the batteries in! Otherwise a good product.
Poor reliability By A332MQ5TTG4CM1 on 2007-04-18
I have owned two of the outdoor LaCrosse Wireless Temperature sensors. Both have failed within the first 1.5 years. When the sensor goes out, you will not see the outside temperature on the indoor display. I will NOT purchase another LaCrosse unit.
Lacrosse temperature sensor By A39AWL2FKWDFK6 on 2006-08-23
It works. It's simple. It shipped fast and without hassles. Life is wonderful.
- Temperature Sensor
     By A202GVL9ZFPOZZ on 2005-09-03
This sensor did exactly what is suppose to do. I took it out of the box, followed the instructions and it started working just fine. LaCrosse makes a very good product.
- works like a charm
     By AKWLP42EAMBYQ on 2005-09-06
I had to replace the original sensor b/c the double-sided tape did not hold up to the painted surface of my home. It was tucked under the roof and safe from the elements but did not hold. It hit the ground from approx 8' up and the dog chomped on it a bit. It was still intact with some bite marks but did not function. This time I used both the tape and the screws and it has held up well. Time will tell but I expect it to work as well as it has for my parents for some time.
- Remote Temperature Sensors
     By A1GJDC1IIDZABD on 2006-02-23
These sensors worked flawlessly from the moment that we put the battery's in them. So far they have registered 2 to 75 degrees without a hitch. We are very happy.
- Unreliable, Short-Lived
     By A33QZFFLGAD2UJ on 2006-11-03
This was the 3rd of three remotes I've had linked to a La Crosse clock/thermometer unit. The first fell and broke, but the second and third units simply failed. While they worked, the range on the units was very poor. I had difficulty at times in getting a signal within 8 ft. through a window in line of sight with the remote. As nice as it is to have a remote temperature sensor, La Crosse doesn't seem to be able to provide reliable products for that purpose.
- Disappointed
     By A1V9V338S9WVYF on 2006-05-19
The clock has performed well the past 2 years but the Outdoor Sensor accuracy was off 3-5 degrees when operating. Now the sensor works only indoors within 6 feet of the clock. I must replace the entire package.
