The Best Investment for All Your Battery Needs By A37STETYXHTL84 on 2004-07-04
This set includes 4 AA cells Made in Japan for Sony by Sanyo, as well as a timed charger, NOT a smart charger as its similar looking Sony variants. The Sony Power Charger can recharge 4 AAA or AA cells at a time. Unlike the Panasonic BQ-390 which I also used and reviewed, this Sony uses a timer to stop charging. The Panasonic BQ-390 has advanced circuitry inside to monitor charging through temperature, voltage drop, and the cell's internal resistance, so that you'll get more precise charging and less damage from overcharging of simpler chargers. Sony also offers a similarly advanced product, but this model is a cheaper timed model. It charges the 2100mAH cells for 8 hours straight, or 800 mAh AAA cells for 7 hours straight. If you charge a partially used cell, it will not detect when the cell reaches full charge, and might overcharge. It's best to charge a fully depleted cell with timed chargers.
Timer Charger By A3Q0UCHM8DSDG7 on 2004-07-19
This is a timed charger, but well matched to the supplied 2100mAh NiMH batteries. The manual recommends charging after a full discharge, so it may overcharge your partially depleted cell or an older cell with lower capacity. As long as you recharge a fully empty, ~2100mAh cell, it shall be fine. The included cells, actually made by Sanyo-GE, are premium cells, and only surpassed by Sanyo's latest 2300mAh cells.
Great batteries By A12YC1CY1XZ6KQ on 2005-01-22
This was the best deal I found on rechargable NiHM batteries and that too these are made in Japan by Sony. It has a capacity of 2300mAh.
There is one problem with this. This charger does not automatically shut off when the batteries finish charging. So the first time I charged them, I kept waiting for the indicator to go off and I realized after 18 hrs that they are not going to go off.
So, though the batteries are good the charger is not. I would suggest people to go with another sony rechargable model that sells here for just a few dollars more.
Charging time By A235FOR6C9N2 on 2004-05-27
I bought this without knowing what the charging time was. I took a risk since it was at an affordable price and found out to my dismay that the charging time is as follows:1-4 batteries: 2100mAh Approx 7 hours 1700mAh Approx 6 hours 800mAh Approx 7 hours 700mAh Approx 6 hours I haven't used the product yet...I just got it today. I don't know. I might return it for the Kodak 1 hour charger one for the same price (18.99) but the deal is gone for this product, it's back to 19.99. Anyways...pretty fast shipping though =)
World Class Feature By A1UEL5C1N6E5SE on 2004-09-20
Anything that eliminates an AC-DC adapter from my luggage gets my attention. This is a small unit that has 110-220 volts US plug built in. No wall wart to schlep. Hooray!
Update: 15-March-2005 Plastic lid broke off. Not a biggy but should have been sturdier. Still pleased with it's usefulness and travelability.
- Great batteries & Charger
     By on 2004-06-25
These 2100mah Sony AA batteries and charger are the best I own. I have many different brands, Energizer, Kodak, Panasonic etc. and probably a 1/2 dozen chargers. As some may or may not know batteries that are "trickle or slow" charged will last a good bit longer. This charger takes about 6-7 hours before the full indicator light goes off. On quick charger 15-60 min ones they still fair well but of course not as nearly as long as slow charges. If you have a digital camera and are using disposable batteries this is a necessary cost saving purchase. So often in Camera reviews people complain "It eats batteries" It is best to have 2 to 3 extra sets and a set runs down - who cares! Throw them in the charger and switch sets.
- Great Battery Life...Good Work Sony!
     By A28D0T2P228L3O on 2004-10-20
I use these batteries for my Wireless Desktop & for my MD Walkman. Takes a while for them to die which is very good. No one wants to constantly charge a rechargeable battery. LOL. Anyway, good life on these batteries....
- They last forever
     By A24EM0VCXOD0XH on 2005-10-14
I have a Canon S2 and I haven't had to switch the batteries after a couple of weeks.
- Sony Power Charger with 4 Ni-MH AA Batteries
     By A7M6LMB1OTG7N on 2005-07-08
No noticed problems working with Canon digital camera
- perfect solution for the inexpensive Canon A520
     By A30R2FLZS3JXWE on 2006-03-21
This kit is exactly what I needed to keep my wife from throwing her camera in the junk drawer for good. The camera's flash would burn through the alkalines at a rediculous rate, and these Ni-MH power through hundreds of shots with ease. I'm really impressed - especially at the price.
- Great product
     By A3B4QFFWA40GV8 on 2005-08-02
This is especially great for my digital camera, which uses it's batteries somewhat quickly. The worldwide voltage feature was a plus for me, but you'd think that they would also include worldwide socket adaptors and not just the two-pronged American?
- Rechargable Batteries
     By A1ATUUOGPF8SA8 on 2005-09-26
Good product. Take 7 hours to charge though. It's a good idea to have a set of these in the your camera and have a spare set in your bag.
- Good charger
     By A2WR1791DDM8O1 on 2006-03-21
First charge took all night. Subsequent charges took approx 6 hours. Batteries last long in digital camera.
- Excellent product
     By A3D3OX9GKRW49M on 2006-03-19
It's very useful easy to carry , works with both 110 and 220 volts, very practical!
- Seems Like Cool, But Shipping Delay is Dissappointing
     By on 2004-07-14
I ordered this product a week ago and it's still not have been shipped; despite the "ships in 24 hours" expression. The other items in the same order were delivered days ago, but Sony Power Charger is still waiting for shipment...
- not available
     By AFEIAWRKOG3K2 on 2005-09-14
I ordered this item 9/05 and waited a week for it to arrive. Then I got a notice from amazon that I had refused the shipment and was being issued a credit. When I finally tracked someone down at Dynadirect they stated that the item was no longer carried. It would have been nice to know that before ordering! The Charger may be fine but getting it via Amazon is not!
- Great batteries with a decent charger
     By AWIXZVLE2R8FI on 2005-10-25
Batteries have a great run time. Charger is satisfactory.
I am satisfied with this product
- Power charger does not equal rapid charger
     By A1KMZGC4Z06DJO on 2007-01-27
I just got this a few weeks ago to charge batteries for our digital camera. Haven't used it much yet but it looks like it works fine.
My only issue is that it takes 6-7 hours to charge the batteries. This isn't really a big deal for my home use but it might be for others. There are rapid chargers out there that charge the batteries in an hour or two.
Also this unit doesn't indicate if the battery is already charged. Its a pretty basic unit for a pretty basic price. Just fine for basic use!
- Good
     By A1V9DKHHOYKVV0 on 2006-02-20
I bought these batteries for my Canon A510. The batteries were good upto 300 flashes.
- good for 1.5 years
     By A3JD57W0SVOTR on 2006-04-12
Bought this about 1.5 years back. Worked well. Now it is not working. The indicator light blinks, but the battery is not charging. See if there is a better one available.
- Works fine, but a solar powered charger would be better
     By ALT8FQMGCV7BG on 2007-05-05
The BCG-34HLD works fine, though the charger's 360mAH output rate means it'll take a about 6 hours to charge the 2100mAH batteries. I bought it because it had a decent amount of charge to it, and hey it's comparatively cheap, but now I wish I had bought one with a charger that would accept a 12V lighter connection so that I could hook it up to a 5V solar panel. At sundancesolar, they sell a kit with 2500mAH batteries and charger that has a lighter connection so you can use a solar panel. At a 800mAH rate, 2500mAH batteries will only take about 3 hours to recharge and you don't have to be plugged into the grid! I'll probably use these Sony batteries in a new solar charger.
A few things to be aware of with NiMH batteries:
*If NiMH batteries are repeatedly partially discharged and then recharged, it is necessary to do an occasional complete discharge followed by a complete recharge. However, more often overcharging is the cause of voltage depression, so for this charger, you must keep track of how many hours the batteries have been charging (5 hours, 50 minutes).
*NiMH batteries self discharge about 1-3% per day, so they should be charged when you'll be needing them. This makes them a bad choice for emergency equipment that is stored away for long periods. They should also not be used in equipment that continues to drain them after they've been discharged as this can render them unusable.
*Alkaline batteries start at 1.5 volts and gradually drop to less than 1.0 volts. NiMH batteries remain at a 1.2 volt average for about 80% of their discharge cycle.
- POWER PLUS
     By A33NGJBCV99MMQ on 2006-03-11
So very practical when travelling internationally as I do ! It can charge both AA & AAA so takes care of my MP3, digital camera, etc. on the run.
- Worth it
     By A2EH0VZ852IADD on 2007-02-28
The performance is good and I got this for a good deal last september
- Great product
     By AAEW2VVLHBYX3 on 2005-08-03
Batteries charged within time it said they would. Batteries have been used for 3 hours and still running strong.
- Good but costly
     By A3M1FV3Q8YBZ0G on 2005-07-28
It looses a star to the price in comparison with others. The overall product is good, works in any voltage and frequency which is good for people travelling to other countries.
Charging time is high which can be brought down considerably.
I have got two pieces of these and they are working very well. No heating problems and very convient to pack and store.
- LOL

A battery charger is a battery charger, nothing special about anyone of them , except that this one is in expensive.. Must buy!
- Very good charger
     By A3RNR1DMOY8FLO on 2006-07-19
Really very good. I use the batteries with my sony digital camera and I take about 300 photos before recharge again. It is highly recomended.
- Charger ok, but not the battery
     By A31CBCDOTI3DW8 on 2006-09-11
I bought this pack from another online store. After using more than 1 year, the battery power seems to be not as good as before. Getting a chance to use Energixer, I can tell there is a big difference from the 1st day of using both. Engergixer can stay longer. After half year used, and no sign of any degrade in power capacity.
- very good
     By A3NFQRYZA83QCZ on 2006-11-11
this charger is very nice,i use this one for my canon digital camera it comes more than 50 photographs once you charge.
- Good quality
     By A3WFXFCLASQMP on 2006-11-16
The charger supports two kinds of battery (AA and AAA), auto-voltage and four batteries can be charged at the same time.
However, the max current intensity is only 2100 mAh
