  • Not waterproof

    By A2VQ6HI483J010 on 2005-01-16
There is an amplifier at the outside end of this cable. The compartment totally filled up with water after a few rain storms. I get no signal at all because of water damage. I had the connector oriented correctly accourding to the instructions, but it still filled with water. The lid eventually fell off...

I'm going to buy another cable because I need it. This time, I will seal the amplifier box with silicon glue. You should do the same thing before it rains.

  • Don't forget the Cable!!!

    By A1A535TCGNMVPI on 2005-01-29
Don't forget this extension cable for Sirius! As most people find out, you need to place the antenna outside for a good solid signal that lasts. With this 50 foot extension you'll be able to put it just about anywhere, plus you can hook TWO of them together to give you a total of 120 feet (50 + 50 +20 on antenna) without loss of signal.

Plan ahead and know if you'll need the extension. Many go and put the money into the Sirius receiver, boombox or home kit and get all ready to hook it up only to find out they need more wire. And not just any wire wil work!

I have one myself going from outside the window through one room down into my bedroom where my boombox is. Without this cable I'd be using the Sirius in the attic! Most people fine the need for one or two of these cables, and watch out as they're often hard to find in stock as they sell fast!

  • Why the price hike??

    By A1FKHVLXAHF4PO on 2005-10-05
My reception was so-so until I purchased this 50 ft. extension and moved the antenna outside. Now it's great!! This is a needed accessory for any Sirius owner. At $19.95 it was a terrific buy. Why the major price hike in this product? It now may be cheaper to go to your local electronics store to purchase this extension.

  • On my 3rd cable in 20 momths!

    By A7U72ES3G5JF on 2006-07-24
Warning: Stay away from this Terk SIR-EXT50 extension cable, I've had to purchase 3, thats right 3 cables in 20 months. After the 1st died (9 months) I brought it back to Best Buy for an exchange. Was told I must exchange with Terk. Returned to Terk by certified mail, never received response or exchange Terk does not back this product up. Went to Best Buy & purchesed another, died yesterday after only 10 months of use. Now I'm on my way to Radio Shack to try out the MONSTER sirius 50ft Extension Cable. Wish ME Luck

  • Just What I Needed!!!

    By A3W3DTI81G3O7H on 2005-08-20
I used to have my antenna setting on a window sill in my house and I only received reception 8 hours a day. Ever since I purchased this extension cable and mounted the antenna on the outside of my house I always get reception. Install was a breeze and for $20 you can't go wrong.

  • Doesn't work with car antennas
    By A2N5KS1R10TPJL on 2006-01-07
Like most people installing the Sirius radios outside, I discovered that using the car antenna that came with the kit actually works better than the directional home antenna (and it's low profile to boot).

Be aware that this cable doesn't work with the car antennas since they're usually shaped like an L. It will only work if your antenna end is straight. Not sure why this wasn't disclosed in the description.

Also, regarding waterproofing. The instructions say to install it in a specific direction. It looks like if installed in that direction there would be no way for water to get into it. If installed upside down, it would fill with water.

    Other than that it works.

  • Works with XM, too
    By A3K71KMOH91VHF on 2005-07-12
FYI, this Sirius extension cord works fine with XM radios. I have used this cord with both radios and it is compatible. The Terk XM extension is more expensive than the Sirius one but looks identical. XM users could save several bucks by buying this cord instead.

  • Good Product
    By A1ECBSZ1E3VSEV on 2005-09-03
I don't understand why retail stores are selling this item for twice the price, but when I saw this on Amazon I bought it. There's nothing special about this, but it's heavy duty and seems sturdy. I was just thrilled that I didn't have to spend forty dollars on such a simple accessory.

  • great product
    By A3JRBGM4KNCID6 on 2005-09-25
works great had no problems.....very easy to install..i work at a factory and i have 2 of these connected to my exact sirius receiver...plus the home kit which makes a total of 121 ft of cable and no problems.....

  • Get it here.
    By A3SX25ZA939LYL on 2006-01-18
This item was back ordered everywhere I checked but Amazon. This thing easily connects to the factory antenna giving a total of 70 feet. Reception is excellent and Howard has never sounded better.

  • Serious Sirius with Terk Sir-EXT50 Indoor/Outdoor Extend kit
    By A5UDMHDTXJS2B on 2006-08-01
    Finally, the perfect signal.
We previously purchased the Terk SIR6 Outdoor Antennae to improve the signal to our Sirius radio. We live in a low area on heavily wooded property so the signal can be temperamental. The Terk Sir-EXT50 I/O Extension Kit allowed us to place the antennae up on the roof. Now even in bad weather we have great reception. On most days we tune in to the full TEN bars on the signal meter. Now we are more Serious about our Sirius than ever.

  • outdoor extension
    By A2TCJI5IG5CEWP on 2006-08-21
The extension works well, but outdoors, it needs to be protected from the elements, or it shorts out!

  • Allowed me to use my Sirius Home Radio.
    By AUX9KZUUB3YCE on 2006-12-19
An excellent extension (if needed) for your indoor Sirius Satellite Radio system.

    I found the antenna that comes with the home unit for Sirius Satellite Radio inadequate because;

1). It seemed weaker (in reception) than the corresponding car antenna
2). I couldn't place it on a indoor window ledge that had the proper direction for receiving a strong signal.

I eventually solved the problem by using a Sirius Car antenna (the one with the magnet) and placed it in a good outdoor spot to receive the satellite signal; the 50 foot extension allowed me to connect the outdoor antenna to my indoor Sirius radio by channeling it through a window frame. Now the satellite radio works just fine.

A great product that allowed me to use my indoor Sirius radio as I had intended. 5 Stars!

  • WORKS GREAT
    By ANOPVE34SIPFE on 2006-03-11
The added 50' was plenty long enough to get my antenna mounted outside in an industrial complex with heavy interference.
    Works great, definitely worth it.

  • Good Product, Good Value
    By A74WM3JXI4S92 on 2006-03-16
The Sirius antenna extension kit is a simple, straightforward product that performs at least as well as advertised. The extended cable length not only allows for more effective and flexible outdoor placement of the antenna, it also apprently does not degrade signal strength. Materials and construction quality seem especially good and, at under $30, it's also a good value.

  • Worthy Investment
    By A10SCLIAL4GUE7 on 2006-03-17
In December, we purchased a satellite radio receiver and had nothing but problems with it. We ended up returning it after less than a month. On a good day, we had about 20 minutes of uninterrupted service with that unit. HOWEVER, we replaced it with another receiver and decided this time to go "all out". In additional to the extension kit, we also purchased a Terk SIR6 Outdoor Home Antenna. The reception on the new receiver with these two components is AWESOME!!! I'm in Northern California, East of San Francisco in an area with not a lot of interference. I highly recommend this investment.

  • Good for the price.........I guess
    By A3GSDI3E7TG9OG on 2006-06-29
Being an electrical engineer probably has something to do with the fact that I do not really like the connectors that are used on the satellite devices. But, I also understand that the quality of the components used and the overall price have to match up. So all in all, this is a good product, but would love to see a more solid connector used, i.e. one that screws on, rather than one that snaps into place. The only reason I say this is that I have had one of these cables perform poorly with some slight lateral pressure to the snap-on connector.

  • Once I got a good one..it worked fine.
    By AIICPDTRVZYBV on 2006-01-17
What can you say about a piece of wire? The first one sent to me didn't work at all...it was defective. They quickly sent me a new one that has to date worked fine.

  • Good product.
    By A1WI38BMXM7G7Y on 2006-02-01
This extension is pretty much what it says it is and worked fine. I'd note that the end that plugs into the device does so with a very snug fit so that if you have a receiver that you intend to move between your home and a car, you have to worry about breaking off the connector in the radio.

  • Read about these potential pitfalls before buying
    By A1QLUXNUBGRGAU on 2006-02-03
I have two gripes about this product.
    1. The cover for where the two wires meet is designed to work with a straight male cable plug. My Siruis came with a 90 degree male plus which makes the cover useless which means I will have to jury rig some cover for it to keep the rain/snow out of it.
    2. The wire is the thickness of a coaxial cable which was much thicker than my satellite wire. I have my satellite wire stuck under the molding of my window but that is impossible with a wire this thick so I am not even using the extension.

With all of that said though it did work as advertised with no loss in sound quality.

  • Crystal Clear
    By ANYDQWZNI0RI on 2006-02-23
The extension cable solved my problem, as I had to locate the antenna on another part of the house. I even put two staples though it when routing the wire and left them.

  • Terk SIR-EXT50 Indoor/Outdoor Extension Kit (Sirius)
    By A22NTL8CLDSOM6 on 2006-02-26
This was just the complement my sirius desktop radio needed in order to extend through an outer wall. I recommend this product highly.

  • works great
    By A246VLOF1XCYVL on 2006-02-26
The additional 50'length of the extension really helps to position the antenna outside for enhanced reception.

  • Terk SIR-EXT50 Indoor/Outdoor Extension Kit
    By A7SS6AMAXNG3M on 2006-03-18
Paired this up with the Terk outdoor antenna. Cable is ok, but a bit too inflexible as it is easy to potentially crimp it. I also really do not like the plug that it uses to join itself to the antenna - it seems very insecure and likely to separate from the male joiner, yielding a short in the line over time. It should have some type of positive locking mechanism like threads to guard against this almost certain occurrence. In short, it works, but for how long remains to be seen.

  • Straight forward extension
    By AGRO4A21F0HY4 on 2006-03-20
If you need an extension kit for your satellite radio, this will help you connect your existing antenna to gain an additional 50 feet in length. Its straightforward, and the connection it makes is secure, the only question I have, is why do these original satellite radios include a longer cable to begin with? (instead of 20 feet, they really should provide 50 feet, and add the extra minute cost to the original package up front). That's a question for the executives, management of these manufacturer(s), I guess.

  • Great Extention
    By A12W4O4P0V6ZWJ on 2006-04-12
Not much to say here. Follow the easy directions, run the cable and have sirius everywhere

  • Bonnie's Review
    By A3CCEQWBYFGUAZ on 2006-07-08
The extension works great and is especially good for us as we live in the Everglades and don't get good reception from inside our house. My husband runs the receiver outside and we get great reception. We love our satellite radio-- it's almost the only thing we listen to any more.

  • Terk 50' outdoor extension antena (Sirius)
    By A2M28IZIAKI07R on 2006-07-19
I was getting so frustrated losing my signal to my Sirius Sportster until I purchased the Trek 50' extension antena. I moved and mounted the antena to my roof and now it works great. I now have 7 to 10 bars instead of the 3 I used to have, I strongly recomend this purchase.

  • works great as an ext. cord, useless as a signal booster
    By A1GCIOKPZKFGWN on 2006-09-18
I bought this thing because Sirius recomended it to boost reception, which it didnt make nearly any difference.....however, if you need an extension cord, this works great

  • excellent antenna extension cord
    By AQIUCPL0N418A on 2007-01-12
we purchased this for our sirius sat radio because we could not obtain a strong signal with the antenna that came with our radio. with this extension cord we were able to easily extend the antenna and achieve a super strong signal.
