Too bad it doesn't come with the GPS back plate By A1KX455PHAYEC3 on 2006-04-06
If you have a race bike with a light aluminum handle bar, it probably has a diameter of more than 25 mm. Then this mount is the one you need. It comfortably fits any handle bar with a diameter in the range of 25 to 32 mm. It comes with three rubber strips of different thickness to adjust to the proper size.
It is too bad that you need to purchase this mount on top of the bicycle mount that is delivered with the special clipped backing for your Garmin. The standard mount does not fit any rail with a diameter larger than 25 mm.
In my case, I switched bikes and my new bike had a wider bar. So I'm lucky to have a mount now on both the old and new bike. But if you start from scratch, and have wide handle bar, you are faced with two purchases.
Sweet By A3OO37FF3WP35X on 2005-09-26
Biked Winter Park this last weekend, the handle bar mount didn't budge even over the roughest terrain. Kept the GPS in good view. Easy to install. If you bike with a Garmin 60 this is a must own.
I wish I had read the other reviews first By A3899QHBDK32HM on 2006-10-22
I'm not sure why the other reviewers are so charitable, given that they indicate the product does not work properly without help from rubber bands. My GPS fell off twice over small bumps on the first ride. Imagine the horror of seeing your $400 GPS bouncing down the road behind you...
There is no reasonable alternative to mount the unit on the bike, so I will cross my fingers and use two strong rubber bands to augment the unreliable item purchased from Garmin. It couldn't cost Garmin much more to produce a good bracket mount.
Having said that, the60Csx is really tough and designed for abuse. With all the skidding and bouncing, it only has a few scratches on the corners. The display was protected by the design of the unit (it is recessed).
UPDATE: I found one that works! It's a bit heavy, but no problems with this one, no matter how many bumps. It's about $28 or so.
Search Amazon for; "RAM Handlebar Mount Garmin 60". You should find it.
It works, but too bad its not included in the bike kit By A2XI7A76G721RG on 2007-07-03
I wanted a bike mount for my new road bike, and I thought it would be nice to also have a car mount. So, after reading the reviews here, I decided that instead of buying the bike mount, I'd by the car mount with this adapter, and hope that the car mount bracket used the same mounting system. It does! So now I have the car mount and the bike mount with the large rail mount.
Perfect if you want to use your GPS on your bicycle By ACHTDPEQYSEQL on 2006-10-08
I have been using this bracket to hold my 60Cx to my handlebars and I have been extremely happy with the purchase. I use my bike as my primary source of transportation and it has been easy to get around thanks to the street maps that I loaded onto the GPS. As other reviewers have noted, you definitely want to also tie the GPS to your handlebars. I use the wrist strap that came with the GPS. My bike fell over one day and the GPS popped right out of the bracket and was left dangling above the ground. If it had not been tied, it easily would have impacted the ground.
- Solid and easy to install
     By AMQE947XSRUS7 on 2006-01-02
This product performed exactly as expected. It was easy to install, it is a great price and kept my GPSr in perfect position, both for my eyes and the satellites in the sky!
- great on motorcycle too
     By A8AEVAIMEKNJ on 2006-02-20
Mounted the 60c on my motorcycle using this item. Works well. Seems very stable though I wrap the wrist band around the mirror for extra safety.
- Garmin 60 bike mount
     By A233MMRZR1CTFG on 2006-04-07
Be careful with this mount. Use the lanyard as a backup. GPS can and will come loose from bracket. I also use 2 Livestrong bracelets to hold gps in place. The mount broke in two last weekend an inch & 1/2 from top. Just ordered a replacement. I hope Garmin has improved design. This bracket was purchased 9 months ago. It has aproximately 2000 miles of road bike use on it. The Garmin 60 CS is one tough unit. It has hit the pavement more than once and only has a few scatches.
- this is the bike mount for the Garmin eTrex Vista HCx
     By A33YZNZIRA3H97 on 2008-06-07
If you have a Garmin eTrex Vista HCx GPS, do not buy Garmin's bike mount because it does not fit. Buy this rail mount instead to mount the GPS on a bicycle handlebar. The adapter that comes with the Vista HCx clips right in to this rail mount.
Unfortunately, this mount is not as secure as the mount Garmin makes for their Edge GPS units and it only allows you to mount the GPS on your handlebar, not on the stem.
There is also a small diameter version for thinner handlebars (like many mountain bikes): Garmin Rail Mount Adapter (010-10496-01)
- Solid product!
     By A3L072SMB8LTBK on 2006-04-17
i'm using it to mount a garmin gpsmap 60cs to the handlebar of my mountain bike. i also include a small safety lanyard (just in case), but haven't had any problems. . .even on extremely rough terrain. thinking about buying another one for my motorcycle.
- unuseable
     By A121O01M5R2TAJ on 2006-11-20
my Garmin CS60 WILL NOT stay attached without rubberbands. To add insult to injury the service people at Garmin have not responded to two e-mails. Do NOT buy this produce untill Garmin actually tests it in the field and comes up with a better system.........FYI I LOVE my Garmin CS60. Just not for bike use.
- Is What It Is
     By AAM9R5SLN7CVM on 2007-02-12
Its a handlebar mount - nothing fancy. Kind of surprised about the negative reviews. I bike fairly hard through a pot-hole peppered city and on light offroad terrain and the thing litteraly has NEVER budged. Solid.
- Don't Bother
     By A1MVSPLHCRM22T on 2007-03-21
If you have a high end road bike, don't bother to purchase this bike mount. It won't fit on the handle bars. I tried this mount on a couple of road bikes from different manufacturers and they all had the same issue - this Garmin bike mount was too small for the handle bars. The adjustements for bar size are very limited.
There is an "oversized" mount you can buy from Garmin that will work on the larger bars. However you have to buy this kit AND the oversized mount. What was Garmin thinking?
- Works well - if it fits your bike
     By A18REBN1UPCRN on 2007-08-06
The unit held a GPS60CSx securely in place on a straight bar hybrid bike. I could not transfer it to my road bike though as the bracket does not fit around Bontrager drop handlebars (they are too thick).
- Why is this so cheap?
     By A1L31K3FQI5HZ0 on 2006-10-30
I agree, this is a flimsy piece of plastic that will not hold the GPS unit over a few little bumps. I expected more from Garmin. Consider this: Touratech Mount for Garmin 60C series. Its a solid unit. It costs a little more but you won't be replacing your GPS unit due to it falling to the ground.
- Great for motorcyles!
     By A8M33D5ILINDK on 2007-03-02
I needed to find a speedometer for my off-road DRZ 400 motorcyle and using the Garmin 60CX with this mount is a perfect soulution. Mounted in about 5 minutes and holds my GPS solidly. Love it!
- Works good on my ATV
     By AHUNWJ9OFQIXP on 2007-03-12
I bought this mount to use with my quad (suzuki ltr450) and it's holding up great so far. I only wish the mount rotated because it's mounted at a slight angle in the handlebars.
- Worth the money but could be better
     By ACS3PYTJE5TU9 on 2007-05-08
I purchased my bicycle mount for my GPSMAP60CSX about a year ago and have used it numerous times. Most of the use has been on roads or fairly smooth trails. I have done some fairly rough mountain biking with this mount on 2 occasions. I did manage to break the very top of the mount (the hole where the round button on the back of the GPS unit fits) when my knee knocked the unit. I think the area at the top of the GPS cradle could be strengthened if Garmin decided to redesign this product. I can still use the mount but the GPS will come out when I hit large bumps in the trail (road riding is not a problem). I would recommend looping the wrist strap around your handle bars as a safety at all times to avoid loss or damage of your very expensive GPS unit. For mountain biking use I think this product is certainly worth the $20. For casual riding with a mountain bike you should have no problems. As mentioned by another reviewer, this is not compatible with a road bike (at least not mine). I have a Cannondale Synapse and this mount will not fit around my handlebars. I am still looking for a way to use my Garmin with my road bike.
- Nearly Perfect
     By A3DV3VJDMRLTNT on 2007-06-04
Pros: Fits typical handlebars (7/8"-1", 22.2mm-26.0mm), Secure attachment
Cons: Not much but can envision wear issue at the lower clip in point
- Had My Doubts ...
     By A29FXFAV696K29 on 2007-06-19
... but after several thousand miles and almost as many pot-holes my 60csx is still firmly attached to the handlebars of my Harley. I've been tying the wrist strap to the mirror "just in case" but it's been over the worst terrain Colorado, Wyoming and South Dakota have to offer without ever popping loose.
- Nice item to have for motorcycle or bicycle
     By A3E9MXJ04VH915 on 2007-10-07
I purchased two of these handlebar mounting units. One is used on my mountain bike and the other is used on my motorcycle. This mount is easy to install and easy to use. The GPS 60csx and 60cx fit perfectly. However, I have a couple of concerns.
1. The unit is completely made of plastic. While riding, the unit is in full sun--either mountain bike or motorcycle. I don't know how long before the plastic starts breaking down and falls apart.
2. The mount does not allow for minor angle adjustments--you have to find the right spot to mount it on your handlebar and hope it faces you correctly. Otherwise the GPS receiver screen may be difficult to read. Mine has a slight angle to the right but I can see the screen.
Overall, I am satisfied with this mount and would buy it again.

- GPS Mount
     By A2F5TRSG7CQPZU on 2007-01-03
This mount works perfectly. I use it on the handlebars of my Honda Rincon ATV where it is subjected to a high stress and vibration. It holds my GPS perfectly.
- Garmin handlebar mount
     By A36P9BMJGVSS62 on 2007-04-03
Typical Garmin precision - once inserted, my GPS is locked in... it cannot fall out. I actually use mine in my canoes without worry, including when I portage the canoes, inverting the canoe over my head - the Garmin has never fallen out.
Great design
- Fine . . kinda
     By ASED85TK8A3W1 on 2007-05-13
This bracket from Garmin is fine, but does not fill me with confidence, looks like the gps may pop out of it upon hitting a large bump. I use a cable-tie to secure it to my handlebar just in case.
- Tough and Simple
     By A13E2625YUR0M3 on 2007-05-28
The Garmin universal mount for the GPS Map 60 CS series is great - take it from the car to the bicycle, to the motorcycle in a jiffy. Or get two and just move the GPS.
The little mount looks delicate, but don't let that deceive you. I took a spill on my trekking bike last winter, with the mount on the handlebars. The GPS wasn't in it, but the bracket (the thing with the loop at the top and the curved bottom, which actually holds the GPS) took a big wallop, which cracked the loop right at the top. I thought it was ruined. I glued it, which didn't hold, but it didn't need to. The GPS still sits tight and firm. I now use it for the car, and have an intact one on my bicycle - I'm a little risk-averse here...
And for the price - can't be beat.
- Handlebar Mount - For bicycle only
     By A2E1G20882IBWH on 2007-08-05
This was not the product I was expecting. I was planning to use it on my motorcycle, but the mounting clamp was much too small. Make work very well for a bicycle.
- Holds great
     By A2E7ZDV2WBNCMF on 2007-08-16
Bought this mount to use on my polaris 4-wheeler, It holds and works great.Wish it had more movement.
- Awful Mount
     By A25HOSFQDN6F8H on 2007-08-18
I have ridden with this for about 4 months and today it broke completely. About a month ago, the top circle broke and the GPS came flying off the bike a couple of times. After that I strapped it down with elastics, which worked well enough. Today the entire top piece came off and it is now unusable. If you ride on any roads with potholes (almost every road here in Eastern Mass) then I would recommend finding a different mount. If you do buy this mount, make sure to secure the GPS to it with elastics or something similar.
