  • Good lightweight case

    By A271MRL7XMZFAN on 2005-08-03
This is a good computer case in terms of being lightweight and having lots of pockets for storing things. My one reservation about it is that it's no more than about 40% leather; the rest is plastic (or pleather).

  • Great Quality

    By A2GANR9I6XHTU9 on 2006-08-21
I had a hard time finding a laptop bag in the stores that was big enough for a 17 inch widescreen and when I did see a couple here and there they were of inferior quality. Then I came on Amazon and saw this one. This is the Perfect bag with ample room to store all you need. You can fit a lot in the bag besides the laptop. It contains several other compartments to store whatever else youd like to take along with you. The bag is made of high quality leather and has an adjustable strap you can either attach or just carry the bag by the handle. This is a very well made notebook holder and you will be proud to carry it. Highly Recommended/Good Value for the money.

  • "Excellent Product At A Very Reasonable Price"

    By A161L5ZRHYAF2P on 2006-03-24
I own a HP Pavilion zd8000 laptop with a 17" screen and I wanted to buy a light leather case for it. I searched HP website and they highly recommended the Targus TLE400 for my laptop. I am glad I bought it because my laptob is already 9 lbs in weight and all the other cases for sale out there are too bulky and too heavy. This case is very light considering is made of leather, it only weights 5.1 lbs.
Even though is a light case and it will accomodate a 17" screen comfortably and you still have room for the power cord and other miscellaneous components you might need to carry with you.
It's rugged and I am sure that it will last me a long time but at the same time Targus offers a Limited Lifetime Warranty, so you can't go wrong.

  • No complaints

    By A340H40KL7X4OO on 2007-01-23
I've been using this case ever since I got my laptop back in early December, so after using it for two months now I can honestly say I have had no complaints. I can easily fit everything I need into the various pockets/compartments. Plenty of room for my power cable/adapter, USB full-sized mouse, car adapter, and even room for my portable USB speakers. I have a 17" laptop and it fits perfectly fine in the middle. I'm only a college student, not like a high-class business professional so I will admit I was a little skeptical when I got it that it would look maybe a little too "glossy" or something, but after a day or so I barely noticed and it really does look nice.

Great product and it definitely does what it's supposed to do, I recommend this product based on my use thus far.

  • A Quality Product

    By AWI5RI03379E0 on 2006-07-31
My new MacBook Pro 17" fits the Targus TLE400 case with room to spare and padding to protect this expensive laptop. I also carry around the power adaptor, a mouse, file folders and paper for meetings, and frequently a GPS sensor. The case is relatively lightweight, but made of good material. The leather is very nice, but there is also a lot of plastic in this case. However, it is also of good quality. I like the rubber skids on the bottom of the case and the double zippers for most closures. The removable velcro mesh pocket is great for storing the Mac's power adaptor and an ethernet cable. I never use the cell phone pocket, but I do use the pencil/pen holders and the various size pockets for media, spare batteries, etc. I enjoy the comfortable shoulder carrying strap, but I frequently also use the smaller handles when picking up or moving the case/computer. I would buy it again.

  • Nice Leather Carrying Case -- Recommended
    By A3HA6J88ZA5AZC on 2007-03-23
It is always chancey to buy something judging by its online pictures, but I made a good choice for me in selecting this case. In fact, I bought two at the same time.

The leather, as some others have noted, is not soft, but I did not expect that in an item in this price range. I wanted something that was made of leather, looked somewhere between casual and formal, and that would protect my notebook from scratches, bumps, rain and wind. This bag does all that. It is not at all bulky and that was another feature I was looking for.

The model I purchased was for the 15 inch screen computers, so if you have a 17 inch notebook, you would get the larger size; but the construction is similar. I did not want a huge carrying case because I don't carry extra USB or printer cables, or a bunch of DVDs, yet there is ample room for a power supply and the basics.

If you want to step up from the canvas type carrying cases, then you should definitely consider this case.

Ok. I can understand the great reviews as far as the functionality of this product. I just received mine and took a look through, and it looks like it can hold all my stuff. I searched high and low (gave up on the feminine bags) for something to hold my 17 in. Mac Book Pro, plus the cords as well as all of my personal files. I was happy to find this one, but while looking through it, I found myself gasping for fresh air because of the nasty chemical smell of the lining and the pleather! That indicates cheap, cheap, cheap. If you have ever looked at the fake designer purses on the streets of NYC, you know what I mean. I'm very surprised that nobody mentioned it in their reviews!

I think i'm going to have to return this, unless someone can tell me the smell goes away. Even if it does, I'd seriously be concerned about the toxicity of the material. I'm sure if they did actually use leather like they claimed, they probably would have splurged for better lining, too. You may end up with some tumors, but at least you have an affordable bag!

  • Great Deal
    By AIO5Y7PPYR3JJ on 2007-06-11
This is a great case for under fifty bucks. It looks professional, is solidly made, and has plenty of pockets. The space for the computer could use more padding, particularly since it has room to spare. (Don't use this bag for any computer smaller than 17".) I didn't notice any odd smell, as another user noted.

  • I don't think it's that great.
    By A3SMZU1RJIASIV on 2007-12-11
The zipper doesn't open all the way so it is hard to remove the lap top
from the bag. I think that if the zipper was made where you could open it all the way it was going to be a good bag for a lap top.
But now you have to be careful not to scratch the lap top.
I don't recomend this product if the zipper is not made so it can be
opened all the way so it will be easier to take the lap top in and out of
    the bag.

  • Good stuff
    By A32FNYQVSHYM04 on 2007-06-27
The bag looks good. The main problem is the lack of leather. Both faces has good quality lather - for that is looking good, but sides are made from very cheap rubber, including the phone pocket. I was a litlle disapointed, I would prefere to pay 15USD extra and to be all leather.

  • When a Roller Bag won't do
    By A2GGKJ318HO2GE on 2008-03-21
Sometimes a roller bag is overkill for my 17" HP Pavalion Laptop. For an inhouse or local city meeting - I needed a carry an over the shoulder strap attache for my 'puter.

    The Good:

Carries my 17" laptop and a suite of accessories in convenience and style. Swallows the power brick, backup & software disks, travel mouse, 4 port powered USB hub, 160 GB pocket drive, a case of w/r DVDs, A Canon point and shoot digital camera, extra SD memory chips, 4 AA spare batteries/charger and a power strip.

    The Bad:

Needs slightly more padding for my taste. Bought a padded sleeve that has become so popular these days as an after market computer accessory doing double duty - after judging the level of shock protection offered was inadquate and the zippers are possible lethal weapons - not able clear the laptop w/o scratching the big hunk of plastic case. An ok - inexpensive workaround.

    The "Ugly"

Ok, not really ugly - but I liked the movie metaphor.

I'm a guy - so what do I care about how luggage looks, right? Well - I expected genuine soft cowhide leather and got something a little less. My rollerbag ...Targus TXL717 17 XL Rolling Notebook Case is nylon - ok - I expected Nylon. Targus constructed a notebook case using nylon in less exposed areas, and what is probably SPLIT leather - still attractive till you get up close - and then you see how it met its pricepoint. If I'm going nylon, I 'll get nylon. This bag is a mixture of materials with leather surfaces. Bought it as an impulse item. Next time I'll spring a few more bucks for quality leather - harder to find for a 17" laptop case. The case is still worth 4 stars in my judgement. Based on price and convenience - I dinged it a bit for construction and engineering. Would I buy it again? - yes (but would have slightly lower expectations)...

    Conclusion:

An ok bag in what I think is split leather at an attractive price. Buy a padded sleeve for your laptop - gives it extra shock and scratch protection using this case. The sleeve then becomes a PITA at the airport - a two step process to take the laptop out for TSA inspection. A better padded roller bag or case is a better choice here - leave the sleeve and this case home when you take your 17" laptop for an airplane ride

  • I am pleased with my purchase
    By A3P9OBZUKT6IVM on 2006-12-28
I really like my new case (TLE300). It's perfect in size, lightweight, and not too big or bulky. If you want a bag to carry books and stuff in as well as a laptop, this is not the bag for you. The section for the computer fits my 15.4 inch screen laptop (and chillpad) perfectly, and the accessory section has ample room for cords, battery, mouse, pens, etc. There is also room for a few files or magazines. On the outside, there is a cell phone case on one side (which I won't be using for a cell phone, but will be using to hold a set of keys for easy access). I also like that it has the small feet on the bottom. The outside is mostly all leather -- or at least appears to be -- with the inside being lined with black padded material in the computer part and a black shiny-type fabric in the accessories part. The handles and shoulder strap are part leather and part nylon. I think it looks really nice! Also, Amazon's info gave a delivery estimate of "January 9, 2007 - January 15, 2007", but I ordered on Christmas Day and it arrived by UPS just 2 days later on 12/27 -- and that was using the free super-saver shipping! Anyway, I think it is a pretty good deal for the money and am happy with my purchase.

  • Exceptional Case for the Price - Targus 15.4"
    By AE0NKROWCHV1S on 2007-05-27
I am very happy with the Targus case I purchased for my Dell Inspiron E1505 with 15.4" screen. However, the leather really appears to be a mock leather ( how do you really tell these days ??), but I don't care, because this case is so well made.

On one side of the case, it has two zippered pockets. The larger of the pockets has ample space and organized slots or netted compartments for cords, earphones, mice, pens, and business cards. The zippers have large sturdy tabs that are eye-pleasing, and functional. The metal clasps for the optional carrying strap have a matted pewter finish like the zippers. The strap is a durable nylon with a neck contoured, and padded neck pad that I appreciate each time to swing it around my neck to carry my laptop from the car or train to where ever. The case's carrying handles are not suitable for carrying this case any distance. They work well for putting the case on a desk or chair, or carrying the computer within the office, but that's all. Since I prefer the strap to carry it, the cases' handles are adequate for my usage.

The other side of the case has a large velcro closed flap suitable for files or notepads. Velcro closures are used on the areas of the case that have compartments or organizers, so there is no worry about broken or ripped snaps. The bottom, four corners of the case are reinforced for protection, and balance. This case is well designed and functional.

I am so happy that I purchased this case. For the price, it is a great value.

  • This is the second case I buy
    By A239X7XL2H5UND on 2007-07-16
You cant image how great the leather look and the incredible low price!!!.

Tha case can holds everything you need, cables, keys, telephone, CD, USB, pen, personal cards, it almost has a especial bag for cables, you can have every thin in the place, really organized.

  • Nice leather but cheaply made
    By A1QXDMG5VPLGCL on 2007-10-12
The leather seems to be good quality but the workmanship seems very cheap and the padding is insufficient. Cheap polyester satin lining throughout held together by single row stitching. I didn't trust it, so I returned it for a Samsonite.

  • Leather?
    By A3SONKMGI65GXD on 2007-05-06
Describing this case as leather is at best optimistic. Leather is used, but sparingly. If I had seen it before I bought it, I probably wouldn't have. That being said It will do the job, lots of room for my MacBook (13") and price is not bad.

  • Excellent quality, a bit too large...
    By A1MROVLWFWXOFR on 2007-01-10
The notebook case is pretty good, excelent quality, good leather, elegant, with enough space to carry everything you need, your computer stuff, folders, papers, pencils, etc.... the only bad thing, at least for me, is that it's a very large case, i think it could have been a little smaller (on its height and width) and still hold a 17" notebook.

  • Very nice for the price
    By A1ZNN4OGOON19T on 2007-01-11
The case is very well built and sturdy. It even stands well in an upright position due to good construction of the bottom base of the bag. It fits a 15.4" nice and snug with a good amount of padding evenly distributed around the notebook compartment, including the edges on the side. I think it is a very good value for the price.

  • Targus Notebook Case
    By A2XOYNLPHXAB03 on 2007-01-20
I was pleasantly surprised. It has all the room I need for ancillary items besides my computer.

  • Targus Notebook Case
    By A34I86S9FT86V3 on 2007-02-17
I was looking for a notebook case for my 15.4 inch notebook computer that was not too heavy and bulky. The Targus TLE300 is sturdy and appears to be well built. The zippers, straps and stitching were better than expected for a case in this price range. The side pockets are just the right size to hold several sheets of paper, a magazine, CDs and the like. Don't expect to fit your entire desk into this bag along with your notebook - but that was not the intent anyway. It is great to take on the plane or to commute to the office. The Targus TLE300 is a great value for the money. The overall quality was better than expected.

  • Good quality, sturdy notebook bag
    By A1J9THN17WP2N1 on 2007-03-22
It's a good quality notebook bag that can fit 17" laptops/notebooks easily. Balances well on your shoulder (unlike some bags that rest lopsided). Good, strong stitch. It can get heavy, but then again you're carrying around a 17" laptop.

  • Great bag and excellent price
    By A3NQOLG52M7ID1 on 2007-07-05
This has been a great purchase. Plenty of room for a 17-inch laptop and is a high quality case with plenty of extra places to store other items.

  • I really like this bag
    By AE8N9KJO4NQ72 on 2006-09-10
I just brought a 17" HP laptop and could not find a bag that I liked to fit it. I found this one and like it and figured if it didn't work that I would return it. I won't be returning this bag, it is great, it fits my laptop and I still have room for all the accessories that I have. My phone, PDA, camera and much more fit in this bag. I now do not have to carry several little bags I can put everything in this bag and be on my way. It even has room for some of my school books.

  • Bag is too bulky!
    By A2JQP6GBFK26B5 on 2006-11-04
I needed a bag that was going to fit at least a 17in widescreen laptop. Ths bag would fit at LEAST a 21' inch monitor! Its just too much. I'd like the slimmest, professional looking, leather bag possible for my laptop and may have to keep looking. You may find me selling my bag on Craigslist! The compartments are great but the bag + the laptop are just too heavy for me to carry on a daily basis. I only use it when traveling.

  • A CASE WORTH BUYING
    By A2NHIBKRI93F67 on 2007-03-03
The Targus Case was delivered earlier this week in a box that looked like a it held a small TV. For just over $50.00 I couldn't believe the quality this case exhibited. My 17 inch wide screen Gateway computer slid inside the case easily but was held snugly with a padded velcro accessory. The case holds my AC cord, a palm pilot, notebooks, file folders, pens, business cards, and even my cell phone. In fact, it holds an entire mobile office. The zippers are heavy duty and the case is very well constructed. It protects my investment and helps keep me organized. The padded shoulder strap that comes with the case makes it easy to carry regardless of the weight.

  • Good Buy
    By A3LIPIQH3UTX95 on 2007-06-08
I was please with the 17" Deluxe leather Notebook Case that I purchase for my daughter's new laptop. The quality and the price were very good. the shipping time was excellent. I would buy from theis company again.

  • Very good buy
    By A143FWC8Z0MMFJ on 2007-07-27
I have purchased several 17 inch laptop cases/carriers and found them all to be too heavy, too bulky, and/or lacking file folder section or other storage elements. The only way that this item could be improved would be to add wheels and a telescoping handle without increasing the bulk/weight.

  • Targus Leather Case a Winner
    By AYI1LDJYGG0ZK on 2007-08-31
The Targus TLE300 Leather Notebook/Laptop Case is a big winner with me! There are spaces in this bag for everything you would need, even files and a cell phone! The mesh pockets in the front zippered section are perfect for storing your AC adapter and file transfer cables, and there are even pockets for business cards which work really well to store a portable USB drive for those quick transfers! It is not overly padded, but sufficient, and the heavily padded area on the shoulder strap helps take the strain off when running through the airport! Targus is a top name in laptop cases, and this one deserves the name.

  • Great Bag
    By A18VF8LXZHI7PA on 2006-08-09
This product is very good so far had it for a couple of weeks, seems strong and stirdy.

  • Awsome!
    By A6INQ7J93HZ2U on 2006-11-04
Product was better than expected. Arrived in a timely fashion. I love it. Would recommend product and vendor to others.
