  Got this for washing the car and it really lives up to all the good reviews on the site. The metal parts are sturdy and thoroughly armored by black rubber all around. The problem with most hardware store nozzles is that they always deliver a lower flow of water than just the uncapped hose itself. The Bon-Aire on it's lowest pressure setting mimics the high-flow/low-pressure delivery of an open hose and is great for getting 'sheeting' of the water to occur when rinsing the car after a wash which means less spotting. The spray is continuously adjustable up to a high-pressure stream (very strong) by rotating the collar and you don't have to hold the nozzle in place to maintain the setting -- unlike conventional spring-loaded nozzles. The only thing that takes getting used to is that you have to rotate the collar all the way left or right to shut off the flow, so you won't have the "instant off" action of a normal nozzle if you're working with a setting somewhere in the middle of the range. A perfectly fine trade-off for me given the other great features.

  The Bon-Aire Ultimate Hose Nozzle really is the ultimate in garden hose nozzles. It will boost your water pressure to a degree that makes cleaning the deck or house a breeze. The spray is adjustable to allow the same nozzle to apply a gentle spray to water the garden plants. It turns off by twisting the head right or left. Life time warranty, price is right, nothing else needs to be added.
  
  

• My breakproof nozzle broke

  I've owned this nozzle for a year now under normal home use and was very satisfied with it until the large plastic (fiberglass?) valve fractured and came off inside the aluminum housing. It's got a "lifetime warranty", but a "return to sender"mailing address. After this experience and expense, a brass nozzle from Ace hardware will once again serve me just fine. Buyer beware!

  I'm really tired of garden hose nozzles that break or don't work properly. I ordered this on a whim and it is great. It is easy to use and control the flow of water. It's solid and it won't break.

  In fact, my adult supervision (wife of 35 years) asked me to order a second one - she really likes it, too (that's more than a miracle in and of itself...). But you have discontinued the item. Get these back in stock - they are well worth it....

  Our hose is in the driveway, so we've gone through a few nozzles that get run over by the car and break. This one survived that test, and I can throw it on the concrete without worry due to its rubber enclosure. I abuse it and it takes it all in stride. Easy to change the spray, although it wont supply a mist, so your delicate plants should stay away from its spray.
  
  P.S. (2007) Since original review, my car ran over the nozel and severly distorted it. After that, some slop decided to steal it by cutting it off at the hose level with a knife. The latter couldnt be helped, but the distortion of the nozel from the car-run-over will prevent me from replacing it with another.
  
  
• Ultimate is an understatment

  I had bought the steel version of the Bon-Aire Ultimate Hose Nozzle years ago and it was fanatastic. But this newer aluminum version with its 2-direction shut-off is even better. (2-direction shut-off means fully clockwise or fully counter-clockwise shuts off the flow of water.) Additionally, on the fan spray end of the adjustment, it turns into a low pressure bobbler before it shuts off. At the other end of the adjustment, just before the fine pinpoint power spray, it's perfect for rinsing of decks, cars, sidewalks, and driveways. I have 4 of them now... one for each hose around the house.
  
  
• Not good for a garden

  This nozzle turns on and off as advertised, and it can shoot a nice, solid stream of water. But its spray setting is too hard. My wife will not use it for watering her garden. That makes the nozzle useless for our purposes.
  
  
• You Better have LOTS of pressure!

  I bought mine at the local county faire. It worked great in the display, but when I hooked it up at home, BLAH. The setting we use most, the wide-shower, was hardly a shower at all. The flow was low and the pattern was MUCH to heavy for delicate plants.
  
  The distributor GLADLY and quickly sent a replacement, which also aperformed in a like manner, so I checked our pressure. We have 85 lbs. PLUS at the bib, however we use a 100' hose, and an hydraulic hose reel. That device dropped the pressure to about 44 lbs.
  
  After replacing the hose with a 50' one, performance increased. Still, the wide spray pattern was nothing like what I saw at the demo. Additionally, to obtain this setting, it takes a bit of fidgeting back-and-forth in order to get it just right.
  
  Overall, it's STILL not the ultimate nozzle,... just so-so.

  I just bought this hose nozzle last month and it's the best hose nozzle I've ever bought. The hose nozzle is made really tough, you could take a hammer and bang it and still won't break. The amount of water this thing pumps out is crazy. It's like a mini-firehose. I do wish that it had more spraying options, like a fan-type spray, but I don't think it's possible due to it's design. All in all, it's a great hose nozzle, with a lifetime warrenty so if it ever breaks (if it does break), you'll get a replacement.
  
  
• Disappointed

  I had great hopes for this hose nozzle. It seems very sturdy and well made. I like that it shuts of in either direction. I was just expected a lot more flow. My water pressure is about 60 psi, and the garden hose that I use is a 5/8". In order to get any pressure or distance, I have to adjust the spray to a fine stream. The wide fire hose spray is very low pressure and doesn't travel very far.

  As a professional city firefighter, I have high expectations from a nozzle. It must be substantial, long lasting, well made, and work everytime. This nozzle is just that. I am very pleased. In fact, I bought three: two for my home, and one for the garden hose at the firehouse.

  I've owned alot of different nozzles throughout my life and this one is by FAR the BEST. I actually look forward to watering the lawn with this nozzle. I have a large yard and my other nozzles (high pressured) don't spray as far as this one. Its great for washing my truck too.
  
  Plus this one is GREAT! You can stop the spray by turing the nozzle to the right OR left. Two way shut off. The spray on it can be adjusted so easily UNLIKE any other nozzle I have had. To adjust the spray it turns SO EASY you can do it with just one hand. Plus the outside of this is a heavy duty rubber that protects it if you drop it...set it down or whatever. The stream that comes out of it is very consistent. You can have a fine spray, HEAVY thick spray...flared out spray. Its really nice. My other nozzles were always so hard to get it just right. This puts all my others ones to shame. Oh...and it DOESN'T leak where you screw it on to the hose like so many of my other ones have. Not a drop! Great seal!
  
  This nozzle is made of quality material. It will last a LIFE time...no doubt in my mind. I can't think of anything I don't like about this nozzle. I guess I could say its a little heavy...but I did order the one made out of stainless steel verses aluminum. (sp) But if I had to choose again between the two I would steel buy the stainless steel. As far as a nozzle goes...I really don't think you could buy a better one. Its well worth the money. If you want a QUALITY nozzle that WILL last a long time...this IS the one. (This is the first nozzle I will NOT leave outside because I am afraid someone will steal it.) haha I have never worried about that before with any of my other ones. That ought to tell you something. (Buy this...you won't regret it.) If you do...I would be shocked.

  I had to take the time to write a review because this hose nozzle is awesome. It feels sturdy in your hands and it's easy to control the flow of water when you are watering plants or rinsing down the patio area. It works so much better than any nozzle I have found in hardware stores.
  
  Every year I buy my brother some interesting useful gift for his birthday. It's fun to see my know it all sibling rave about something I found. This year he gets this hose nozzle!

  At the risk of sounding like I work for the manufacturer, this is the BEST nozzle I have ever owned. Every year I go out and spend $10 hoping to find a nozzle that will stand up through more than one summer. This one did it. Most. if not all have plastic on them. After one summer the sun kills it. I have paid $10 for brass nozzles but they have plastic for a handle etc. and it eventually breaks.

  I've tried many nozzles.
  
  This hose nozzle is the ultimate. I've used if for everything from cleaning the backhoe to watering the garden to cleaning the acid wash off of the bricks on our house to just plain old washing the car. It is quite possibly the perfect nozzle.
  
  I will be buying several others for every hose here on the farm.
  
  Oh, well, since we can actually affort $30+ hose nozzles means its not a working farm, but, in the country none the less...I'm not smart enough to avoid poverty as a farmer.

  I have bought a lot of nozzles over the years but eventually settled on two for regular use. One was a cheapo brass nozzle that was passably good for a jet type spray and the other was a selectable plastic monstrosity which was the only thing I could find which would do a range of spray patterns. The problem with that one was that it was cheaply made and I would end up buying one every year. I did a google search for - best garden hose nozzle - I found the Ultimate nozzle at a home store online. It was pricey, but had a lifetime guarantee and just looked like a well built product. I spent the money and have not regretted it. In fact, I like it so much, that I bought two knock-offs for a neighbor and my son (big mistake) The knock-off is no good. I have learned my lesson and will order two more of the originals. The knock offs look the same from the outside, but be sure that you are not fooled. When I took the knock-off and the Bonaire apart, the difference was obvious. The Bonaire is obviously more well-thought out.Great product!

  This is a very good nozzle. The nozzle maximized the water pressure available to me, especially noticeable on hose runs of 100'.
  My nozzle blew apart internally after freezing when I neglected to turn the water off on a cold fall evening. The inside parts are some sort of plastic or fiberglass material, so beware of the cold.
  I always intended to notify the company to see if they would stand behind the nozzle but alas I never did.
  I'm considering the stainless steel version as a replacement

  I bought 2 of these nozzles about 5 years ago and I like it so much that we put one in our shower to use as a shower head and it works great there too. I went shopping just recently for another one and all I could find were copies and they didn't do a very good job of copying. The Bon-Aire gives you just the right kind of spray for the job you need (even in the shower)I really do like mine and I sure hope they don't stop making them.

• Dissapointed....Not what I expected

  My water pressure is not great and this sprayer does not help. I much prefer my old nozzle sprayer with the turn and click choice of different sprays built into the the head. This one is just not good for watering, but it is ok for car washing.

  Infinite pattern adjustment and the materials used make this nozzle a "gift list" item for the people I care about. Although I wont leave this laying around, I am not worried that I might damage the nozzle when I drop it in the driveway. Shutoff works great especially as it cuts the flow in both directions.

  Seems a little light, but still sturdy. The shape of the water stream changes with slight variations in water pressure, so sometimes I have to readjust to compensate. Otherwise, a good solid purchase!
