Great travelling mouse By AU4GSBISXO43P on 2004-05-10
The cord management function on this mouse has got to be the best of its features. You can wind the cord around the base of the mouse, and the USB plug clicks into position on the underside, protecting the optical sensor. I'm using the mouse with Mac OS10.3 on an iBook, and both the right-click button and scroller work exactly as they should. There's no thumb-click button, but frankly, that's not the most useful feature anyway on a notebook-sized mouse. There's nowhere comfortable to put the button on a mouse this small, and it would end up being more in the way than anything else, as I have found on other models. This mouse is also visually pleasing - a sort of greyish-silver metallic color on the top surface where your palm rests, with a tasteful greyish-blue imprint of the Logitech logo, and black all around the sides. If you haven't used a notebook-sized mouse before, the size takes some getting used to, but the particular rounded design of this mouse makes it a comfortable fit in the palm. Also - I ordered this mouse on a Friday afternoon with supersaver shipping, and I received it by the following Monday afternoon! Great value for the price all around.
One of my best investments By A2WSI8HOWHFDOT on 2004-08-23
The Logitech Notebook Optical Mouse Plus has perhaps been one of the best (cheap) investments I've made. It's smooth and accurate, and, most importantly, fits well in my hand. It has been so reliable and so efficient that I doubt I'll be buying another mouse for quite a while to come.
Cord did not reach around my laptop! By AT343GQB0AIRU on 2007-07-11
Whereas this mouse has many nice features, the cord is far too short to be useful on many laptops. I have a Dell 700m notebook. It is a small laptop, but all of the USB ports are on the left side of the computer. This mouse cord is so short, it won't reach to the right hand side of the computer! It is almost absurd to think that in this day and age, such a critical design flaw would be overlooked.
Bottom line - If your laptop has USB ports on the left side of the computer, this mouse WILL NOT reach the other side.
Hands down the best mouse you can get for your laptop By A2C3LN3XJ68B1Y on 2006-10-20
This is a very high quality mouse and it's extremely portable. I've had this mouse for over two years without any problems. It's extremely accurate b/c of it's optical light, but it's main strong point is the fact that you can wrap the cord around the mouse for storage. Definitely one of the best investments I made for my Sony VAIO.
Great mouse By A2CHXIKHGQ6WQ2 on 2007-04-19
This is actually my second Logitech Optical Notebook Mouse Plus. The first one failed due to wear and tear. I found that if you wrap the cord around the mouse a lot, as it's designed to do, it can wear out the wire. I now just click the USB connector into the mouse without wrapping the cord and it works great!
- Replaced it twice
     By A2YH1W5W9GLRHQ on 2005-09-30
MMm.. it's not a bad mouse, nice and light, with a place to wrap the cord. Good response and click wheel. BUT I've had to replace this mouse twice now, and am convinced that there is indeed a design flaw, namely how the cord attaches to the USB dongle. Basically they've made the wire going from the usb to the mouse as thin as possible to make wrappable, but problem is that it consistently wears and tears. After a month or two, it just works sporadically.
- Great Laptop Mouse, but...
     By A1IM1CPCX8I383 on 2005-04-18
I love this mouse, and I use about 6 days a week for anywhere from 2 - 6 hours and it has worked great without any flaws for about 9 months until it stopped working on me yesterday. I guess I should've expected this because of all the use I put it through, but it just stinks to have to spend money on a new one.
This is why I'm giving it only 4 stars.
Anyway, lets focus on the positive. This is, I think, the best laptop mouse on the market. I love that it wraps up, and you don't have to worry that the cord is going to get tangled in the other stuff you have in your bag. It's also the right size. Not too small, but small enough to pack away. This mouse makes it so much easier to navigate your laptop. Nevertheless, if you use it as much as I do, be prepared to replace it in about 9 - 12 months.
- Excellent, While it lasted
     By A35Z1QH3JQEZG6 on 2006-03-24
Portable, compact, and was very reliable, until it suddently stopped working, EXACTLY one year after i bought it. But, im probably going to end up buying this one again, because it was great and cheap. But i guess you get what you pay for.
- Stopped working after a few months
     By A31AH0L6UXHQPK on 2007-04-22
I see that a few other users also had this failure issue after a few months. Very strange, worked great for a few months...I thought i had a winner after using several other products that failed. This one no longer works after a few months. Help! Can anyone recommend a notebook mouse that I can depend on?
- I love this little guy
     By A2M1R62VDEI7QY on 2007-05-11
As it says in my title, I love this mouse. I can't stand using the little touchpad on a laptop so the first thing I bought after my laptop was this mouse. It uses a laser so there is no ball to get all gunky (laptop gets taken strange/dirty places) and the cord wraps around the side very tight and neat when I put it away. It is very easy to slip this in a purse or laptop case. I highly recommend it!
- Looks, performs, and feels cheaply made
     By AH75486RIRWH3 on 2007-06-02
I bought this mouse for every day use with my laptop which I use as a permanent home desktop computer. What a disappointment! I have always trusted the Logitech brand, but they missed the mark here. This mouse is too small and does not fit my average sized hand. It looks and feels cheaply made, and I don't expect it to last very long. The scoll wheel is crude, and you can actually count the notches as you scroll. To move around a page, I have to pick the mouse up and re-position it on the pad to go very far. I have only used this Logitech mouse for a few minutes, and am ready to drive to Wal*Mart for a replacement. I bought it to replace a Microsoft wireless mouse that developed a problem with the left button. As a webmaster, I use my mouse more than the average person and have worn out several. $9.65 + shipping was a poor investmemnt. The only good thing I can say is that the shipping was fast.
- Ok but not great
     By A3UZO0OLPV0I67 on 2007-06-13
The problem with this mouse is that the cord is very short. It works ok on my work laptop with the usb ports on the right, but on my macbook with usb on the left it doesn't even reach around the computer!
- A++ Good Mouse. Would use as a pointing device again!
     By A1YHU0ECGRUT7Y on 2005-07-12
I'm using this x.org under openbsd on a Toshiba portege 2000. This mouse is awesome.
My latop has a touchpad, and I hate it. The fact that the latop was lacking a ps/2 port led me to buy my first USB mouse. I'm a cheapskate, so I've been using basically the same two or three ps/2 mice on all of my machines since the late nineties. Wireless is unnecessary, as it is more cumbersome and adds the need for batteries. And more than three buttons is a little extranious for me. I looked at a few of the notebook mice that amazon offered, and this exactly what I'm looking for.
The cable / plug management is really clever, everything fits perfectly and stays in place. I didn't really factor it heavily into my purchasing decision, but now that I've used it a bit, I'm quite stoked about it. The mouse is light, and it matches my laptop's color scheme (kekeke). The price point is decent, too.
The closest thing I have to a complaint is that it feels too small sometimes. The mouse works right away in X, and it takes a bit of tweaking to get the mouse wheel functionality running. It's well documented, I've just been too lazy to do it yet.
- The Mouse for Me!
     By AKI79JNK7EFJY on 2005-07-29
I really like this mouse. It's nice and small, lightweight but doesn't feel cheap, and has a matte finish that doesn't make my palm "sweat". I personally find corded mice so much less of a hassle than dealing with batteries, recievers, etc. The cord is thin and flexible. Actually, I am using it with my desktop computer as well! Only (minor) complaint is that the full featured Mouseman software isn't packaged with the product. The mouse does, however, work instantly with Windows XP (perfect plug and play).
- Great travel mouse!
     By A3LG41ZMMYE0Q9 on 2006-03-09
It's great, haven't had a problem, travel size and good fidelity, feels smooth and runs flawless on almost any surface.. cool!
- Mighty Mini
     By A1LDDK3WCBEEUB on 2006-03-19
This is a great laptop mouse that is small and the cord can be wound around and stored. The laser allows its use on any surface except glass, including your lap.
- Not too shabby .. =)
     By A1FA2UHTFIPDHR on 2006-05-04
I bought this Logitech Optical Mouse to replace an existing one and I'm very pleased with its accuracy, lightness, and ease of use. I had thought about purchasing a wireless mouse but I didn't want to worry about it dying on me while on the go. It's convenient for those that travel with their notebooks because the cord can wrap around the base and have the usb plug snapped into place. The size of it is not too big or too small...it's perfect. I have not found one flaw in it yet.
- Accurate, but a little small (it *is* a Notebook mouse)
     By A1TMKU9UKTQXEH on 2006-10-07
The best feature in this mouse is the way the cord winds around the base- pure genius. It works as it should, but try getting a mouse pad- I know they call it an all terrain sensor- But it's not. When used with a pad or on a white smooth surface, it works like a dream.
The mouse is rather small though, and not the absolutely perfect size for a hand. However you'll notice this only if you use the mouse for as many hours as I do. It fits its purpose perfectly as a Notebook mouse though- And that's what it's meant to be.
- Great Laptop Mouse
     By A38JYX0GXXZTH on 2007-01-11
I bought this last summer to accompany my then-new laptop, not expecting much for the cheap price, and in fact anticipating (judging from an older review or two) that it would break down fairly soon.
Nothing of the sort. This mouse has taken a lot of falls and beatings and works as well as if it came out of the box.
It's rather small, especially if comparing it to my desktop MS IntelliMouse, but you can tell that from some of the user shots above. Those who are used to the big, 5-button mice, don't let this make you hesitant of buying a small 3-button one--your hand adapts very fast (indeed, the IntelliMouse starts to seem too heavy), and the absence of buttons can be made up for with mouse gestures (available, at least, in Opera). In return, you get a very portable and inexpensive mouse.
The one thing that could be better about it, and why I give it four stars, is that it the cord well at the base isn't very deep at all, and there's no locking mechanism for it (only for the actual USB plug, for when you disconnect the mouse). The cord will constantly unravel around it, and will cause annoyance when you move your mouse around. In other words, you will usually have to opt for having the cable extended the whole way and lying somewhere off to the side, rather than retracted into the base.
A great product beyond that, though.
- Nice little device
     By AFGREHPRW6K09 on 2007-04-10
Very handy little USB mouse for my laptop. It winds around itself in a built in slot. Well thought out. The cord may be short for some, but I think it is perfect for my laptop.
- Love this little mouse
     By A1AGGPPP5P79WL on 2008-03-22
I bought this for my laptop because, like others, I HATE touchpads. And this little mouse is just perfect. Works well, plugs right into the USB port, and my laptop (which has Vista) picked it up automatically and I was using it right away. At first I wanted a wireless mouse, but I've used wireless before and they were more of a pain than they were worth, so I wanted to try a wired mouse and I really like this one. The cord is short (so I'm not constantly fighting a wire) and wraps around the mouse for storage and I don't have to worry about it 'dying' on me because I forgot to charge it.
It's smaller than a standard mouse, yes, but it's not so OVERLY tiny that it becomes a pain to use. Even my boyfriend uses it with no problems and he's 6'2 and has pretty good-sized hands and he says the size of the mouse doesn't bother him.
If your USB port happens to be on the left side of your laptop (and you're right-handed) this probably won't work for you because the cord wouldn't be long enough to string all the way around the back of your computer to reach comfortably to the other side. But if the USB port is on the right side or even in the back, you should be just fine.
I personally love the way the cord wraps around the mouse itself for storage. You just wrap the cord into the side grooves, snap the USB plug into place (which covers the optic lens) and drop it into your laptop bag.
Very pleased with this mouse all the way around.
- Awesome, and smart
     By A34IRCLR2S9EOE on 2005-01-08
This is the perfect mouse for a notebook computer on the go, or even at home. First it's not wireless, so you never have to worry about batteries dying. Second the cord has a place to wrap around the mouse (where you can't see it), and the usb part pops into the bottom, making sure the cord is never a hassel during traveling. I can't believe there are not more mouses with this feature. Third it's not ultra small, but just right for travel and hand comfort.
The only thing that keep me from giving it five stars is two things. First no back button, or in other words a third button. The back button saves so much times while browsing the web, i can't believe they don't have it on here. Third, when I bought it, I thought it automatically retracked, like a measuring tape, I was a little disappointed, but i'm sure they'll make something like that in the future.
But right now I think it's the best you can get.
- very compact
     By A37Y4MZZQUM7PI on 2005-08-30
Very compact to fit in my carying case. The way to store the mouse cable around is great. Just don't know how reliable it is after time. Has this mouse for a month now.
- Exactly what I was looking for!
     By A22NKRL9CFKHWC on 2005-09-15
I use my notebook computer as a desktop replacement, and I'm not wild about using the touchpad all the time. This little mouse is the *perfect* alternative. The plug-and-play functionality is seamless -- it doesn't matter when you plug it in; it always starts right up with no rebooting required. It features 3 buttons and a scroll wheel, so unless you're used to using a really souped-up mouse, you won't sacrifice anything you'd have on a regular mouse.
The most convenient feature, without a doubt, is the cord. It winds up neatly into the base, and the USB plug snaps into the bottom. No tangles, no unruly cords, no retractor-widgets prone to breakage. Brilliant. The mouse is small, but I honestly don't notice the difference while I'm using it.
All in all, this mouse is a winner in both form and function. It gives me exactly what I need from a mouse in an incredibly convenient little package. I highly recommend it.
- easy to use
     By A1IA4SWKQ0GMBX on 2005-10-19
I used the wireless mice (mouses?) before, but this mouse is so easy to use. just plug it in and use it. and its easy to wrap up, although i just figured out that you clip the USB plug to the bottom :).
- Very Functional
     By AZE4N2E4O6S15 on 2006-02-21
Does everything I expected. Much easier than the touch pad I
had on my portable. I would recommend it to anyone who would
perfer a mouse to a touch pad.
- An absolutely flawless mouse
     By A25WB0K0H1JZYU on 2006-03-04
I have been using mine for over 1.5 YEARS and it is still going strong as the day I bought it. Great build quality, convenient wraparound cord, and very smooth movement. It's just a great all around mouse that I have not found one negative thing about after using it everyday for such a long time. Have used other more expensive wireless, as well as, wired notebook mice of friends and relatives but nothing has come close to replacing this one. When and IF it ever fails, the same model will be replacing it. Great investment, very highly recommended!
- Awsome Mouse
     By A3AE6EYK72YKFK on 2006-08-19
The Logitech Optical Notebook Mouse Plus (USB)is perfect for laptop use and storage. The USB cord stores away very neatly to fit in a laptop bag without the cord getting in the way. The size is smaller than a regular mouse, but is easy to get used to. Very comfortable, I use it a few hours each night with no issues at all.
- good for the price
     By A2XBS0K5YS5X2M on 2006-09-09
it works very well, especially for its low price
the only drawback is its cord is short, but for a notebook, it's fine
