Aerolatte Stainless-Steel Deluxe Edition Frother with Stand, Chromex$20.99

(62 reviews)

Best Price: $30.00 $20.99

Safe and easy to use, the Aerolatte milk frother eliminates the need for expensive steam-based machines. It works directly in your mug or glass using an innovative whisk-head to turn milk that has been heated in the microwave or stovetop into rich, thick foam in just 20 seconds. Use for lattes, cappuccinos, milkshakes and hot chocolate. Made from food-grade stainless steel. Includes instructions, recipes, a handy stand and 2 AA batteries. 5 Year Guarantee.

Whip up an easy after-dinner cappuccino for guests with this steam-free frother with stand from Aerolatte. The frother foams skim, whole, and soy milk alike for fluffy hot café lattes or cold chocolate malts in seconds. (Frothing water-based powdered milk is not recommended.)

The frother features a sleek chrome body with a slender 18/8 stainless-steel whisk, designed for optimum foaming efficiency, and is compact for easy travel. Two installed AA batteries power the whisk as it froths milk up to 60 degrees C. For best results, turn on the frother with whisk placed near the base of the mug and slowly raise and lower the unit as foam develops. Foam forms in only 15 to 20 seconds. To avoid splatters, turn the frother off before removing from the beverage. The included chrome stand holds the frother secure while protecting the whisk wand with a sturdy, circular base and two sets of arms that fit snug around the frother body.

To clean the frother, run the whisk in hot soapy water and rinse. Wipe the body with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the frother in water or place in the dishwasher. Aerolatte offers a five-year guarantee against defective parts or craftsmanship for this product. The frother measures 8-3/4 inches long, and weighs 1 pound upon shipping. --Jessica Reuling MPN: 491464 -

  • Coffee lovers dream tool !! Awesome !

    By A15IXL30JNS03F on 2005-07-31
I must admit, when I first heard of these immersion frothers, I was very skeptical. I had tried many frothers, cappuccino machines with built in frothers (work great first 2 times, then they always clog) and plunger frothers (can you say carpal tunnel syndrome??) etc. After much time AND much effort, there was very little reward, almost no froth and much frustration, not to mention cleanup. I tried the plunger types repeatedly to the point where I was sure I'd have blisters. Did I mention having to disassemble & clean all the frother parts after? :o)

So began my quest for an easy, effective way to obtain cappuccino style froth for my morning java. I searched java junkie message boards and decided to give the Aerolatte a try. I couldn't have been more amazed and pleased.
This little gadget runs on 2 AA batteries (included) and comes with a metal counter stand so it's easily accessible. I unboxed it and gave it a whirl, seemed sturdy and surprisingly fast. Now for the coffee test. Hmmm. So I brewed a pot (french press) of strong coffee and poured a little half & half in my mug and let 'er rip. All I can say is AWESOME!! I was totally shocked at how quick and easy the Aerolatte whipped it into froth. Seriously, comparable to the froth from Starbucks. I couldn't believe it.

The instructions recommend skim or low fat milk, which also frothed up just as thick and rich. Wow!!!! When you are finished, run the unit under under the faucet or in a cup of water to clean. Incredibly cool that you create the froth right in your coffee mug. Simple as that, no extra equipment to clean.
Be brave, experiment a little. I prefer heating my mug with sugar & half & half in the microwave for 30 seconds, froth for about 30 seconds & pour in coffee. Voila Coffee house quality cappuccino and no pots or tubes to clean. Pretty spectacular!

Details: Gotta admit, the stand that arrived with mine is cool to look at, very high-tech, but poorly designed & a tad annoying as you need 2 hands to remove the frother or put it back in. Ok, but not ideal. Luckily, Aerolatte must have realized this, as they have since redesigned the stand & replaced with an even cooler (hopefully more functional) design.
The battery life is excellent (at least 4 weeks of daily use), however I would recommend investing in rechargeable batteries and charger, as the unit is much more efficient and faster with strong batteries.
My first Aerolatte burned out after a little over a year of heavy usage. I loved it so much I purchased another. The price is reasonable as my unit was packaged with the unit, stand and matching shaker for toppings (cinnamon, cocoa, etc)

Highly recommended. You will not be disappointed! Bravo Aerolatte

  • More than you expect

    By A1F6M3MYMIWIP2 on 2006-03-08
I bought this item in a store in Austin two years ago. I was regretting the purchase the moment I paid (I thought that $20 was too much for a milk frother, because all those cappuccino and espresso machines include a frother, but it never works as you expected, so, why this little thing was going to work better than those machines?). But then I tried it. I made a mess the first times but I loved it. Some weeks later, I went to a store to buy an old fashioned-Spanish style coffee maker. A perfect combination for my Aerolatte! I forgot about machines.

One sad day I found that the battery compartment was damaged. I thought that perhaps some water came in. I looked for another Aerolatte, which was difficult because I have not seen it in Mexico and I was not planning to visit USA soon. I found this item in Amazon, and I placed my order in October last year, when the cold and misty days make you desire a good cup of coffee or a well shaken hot chocolate... When I requested it I did not care about the problem with the batteries (I thought: "Well, I will keep it without the batteries"), so until I received it I noticed that this problem was corrected by placing the battery compartment at the top of the item (instead of on one side), and it also included a few extra technical features in order to avoid the water gets in, so I can keep it with the batteries inside all the time. The item was successfully redesigned. The stand is a plus.

    Recommendations:
    a) Trust the instructions inside (very well written, not only grammatically speaking, but for a non expert coffee maker, like me);
    b) Believe in the recipes included: yes, you will be able to make multicolor layered coffees;
    c) It works better with non "low-fat" or "light" milks or products;
    d) The hotter the milk, the better froth; and,
    e) Change the batteries that come with the product, those are a nice courtesy, but don't have enough energy, and the Aerolatte works with strength. Low batteries cause that your froth goes away too soon.

I blindly recommend this product, I love it.

  • Better than Pump, easier than Steam wand

    By AQSW6WDVCJGB8 on 2008-02-14
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R1BN5KOVH1H4OJ 1st time, I didn't even know what I was doing but I was able to make high volume of nice foam (very fine and creamy) from Aerolatte. I own a Briel cappuccino maker with milk frother/steam wand. It steams milk well but require Barista level skill to make good froth! I also own a Bodum pump which requires way too much energy. Aerolatte is my most favorite tool to froth milk now. It works well with both cold or hot skim milk and very fast (10-15 seconds). Sorry about the video, that was my 1st time using it without prior practice. I can master it in less time now. Milk froth tastes a little airy (not as good as using steam wand) but still better than using hand-pump.

  • Not just a pretty gadget

    By A1K1WHYJMJ5YZY on 2006-06-29
This frother is the best new kitchen gadget I own. Not only does it work efficiently, but it makes the best froth, from low-fat milk (preferred), in just a few seconds. Best method: put just a bit of milk into a glass measuring cup, froth for a few seconds, then heat in the microwave. Spoon onto the top of your hot coffee. Cappuccino at home in no time!

  • Aerolatte frother, heavy duty version

    By A2INSELRQCDUIE on 2007-01-09
This is the third Aerolatte frother I have owned; the first two performed well, but eventually the switch gave out and the machine became unusable.
This version seems to be built out of heavier-duty metal, and it comes with a stand which looks nice on your counter. It would be even better if there were a way for the stand to be mounted on a wall, to get the frother off the counter.

I use rechargeable NiMH batteries in the frother, and they perform well for quite a few weeks, based on using the machine about 6 times a day to froth skim milk in a mug.

I have tried and bought other brands of frothers; in particular, I own two types of "Bonjour" brand products. They are much inferior, and the one that uses 4 AA batteries is useless for foaming milk in a mug, since it spatters milk all over your front. Nice when you're dressed up in shirt and tie, ready for the office!

  • Great Device
    By A23LE504VHIF6X on 2007-05-28
I actually have both the Aerolatte frother and the Bodum Schiuma Electric Milk Frother Set. This is a superior device to the Bodum - purchase the Aerolatte. As other reviewers mentioned, it is a great home milk frother. Clean-up takes a second, no clogged espresso machine steamers, works very quickly, and looks good. It does make froth comparable to the average Starbucks.

However, it does not make froth compared to exceptional coffee places. After moving to Seattle, I learned what a really excellent latte actually is. There are just too many variables (temperature, humidity, steam pressure, espresso machine etc.) to make one of these truly exceptional coffee drinks at home.

This aerolatte frother is an excellent at-home alternative for daily use or something exciting when entertaining company. If you aren't an over the top coffee snob, you will be thrilled with this device.

  • Not the best way to froth your milk.
    By A28JE1K2R6STBT on 2007-07-17
I love the design and i really wanted to keep it since it seems to be very easy to use. But my luck was not constant - i use 1% milk and even when it's cold, the foam is not as good as it should be. And even if i get any, it would disappear in a matter of seconds.

I used to have a Bojure milk frother and i had amazing rezults - not only i could use even half and half and get a nice foam, i use warm up it and sometimes i was able to get foam good enough for latte art.

Very disappointed that i had to return it and start my search again.

  • Not just for coffee lovers
    By ANZSNCCEC6YHF on 2006-01-10
I have been using the Aerolatte for about 2 years and find it so useful. Not only do I use it for coffee toppings, but for all those powdered vitamin drink mixes and anything that needs to be disolved in a liquid, like Barley Green and Super Food, and Ruby Reds. Eveything gets blended so beautifully with no thick residue laying at the bottom of the glass. This tool is so invaluable that I can't do without it. It is one of my favorite kitchen aids and always sits next to my sink.

  • Excellent convenient frother
    By A1YR4WU4NFSPQF on 2006-02-23
I like my milk frothed when i make an espresso latte or cappucino. It was always a hassle to use the frother on the espresso machine which always required some work to clean. This little frother is great - I heat up my milk in the microwave, grab my frother and in 3 seconds the milk iw ready for the espresso. A great buy.

  • Aerolatte Original 18/8 Stainless Steel Frother
    By APIQK9VWN1ZBD on 2006-11-10
I RV with my husband and friends and at times we are out in the boonies with no latte stands available. I now make on the stove espresso and use my Aerolatte original frother to make perfect capaccino's. My husband thinks they are the best!!! It makes perfect foam and I don't have to worry about a big machine....

    By A3E759EB7AK721 on 2007-06-10
This tool can take milk and produce quite a bit of froth as long as you have
healthy batteries installed. I have noticed that this frother is not as good with pre sweetened milk, the froth doesnt seem to make for some reason.
Simple pure milk makes the best froth with this.

  • Great
    By A1L8MA8WO818N9 on 2006-01-31
What we like best is the stand for location and protection. The frother also is very easy to clean. We have a ready gift for future holidays. We can't ask for more.

  • Just wonderful
    By A1IZELD1R6ZJ67 on 2007-10-31
The foamer on my espresso machine broke, I couldn't find a manual Braun foamer at Target, so I went online to look for one.

I had a bad experience with a battery foamer before (had different, propeller-type blades, but I don't remember the brand) so I studied the reviews before taking a chance on the Aerolatte. And am I ever glad I did!

Morning coffee is once again a luxurious experience, using a French press and this Aerolatte foamer. When the batteries are fresh, it whips up a mugful of sturdy foam in seconds.

You do have to change the batteries often, and start with cold milk (which I then put in the microwave for 50 seconds), but the results are just fine even if not quite professional.

I put a couple of packets of Splenda in mine before starting. It seems to work better than sugar. Something about the dextrose or maltose or whatever bulking agent they use, perhaps.

  • Don't buy this product!
    By A1GUAP9HXPVRCN on 2008-01-29
My first Aerolatte died after a couple of years. When I tried to contact them about the guarantee I had to e-mail someone in Europe. The e-mail received no response. Neither did my phone messages. I finally sent a fax and after a month or two they told me to contact a store in New Jersey who never responded to my inquiries. By that time I had purchased another Aeorolatte & that one uses batteries so rapidly & vibrates that I stopped using it. You have to heat the milk first in a microwave and the Aerolatte isn't that easy to use & can take off the finish in your coffee cups. The foam isn't great either. The products aren't reliable & the guarantee is a farce. The Aeroccino, although more expensive, is a much better buy as it heats & foams in one container & the foam is much better. Don't buy an Aerolatte.

  • Frother...& mixer!

Nice looking stainless steel frother. Batt operated. Does a good job of mixing my hot chocolate too!

  • Addicted to foo foo coffee drinks
    By A22COS8U2VWKOZ on 2007-03-21
This device works great with half and half, but it does have a little trouble
with cream. It really slows down with thick liquids. I found it works better when the cream is warm. However it is a great product and it does froth your dairy products for your coffee. As long as you stay towards the top of the liquid and the liquid you are frothing is not to thick. I have been able to save money enjoying coffee at home with a head on it and that was the goal!!!

  • Great Product
    By A3R92YX1HF2KBH on 2007-09-03
This is a fun item. It works like magic to froth up or mix about anything. Cleans easily by just running it under the faucet. For example, you can take a large glass, fill it 1/4 full of milk, add a little chocolate, and aerolatte the mixture to fill the entire glass to a milkshake consistency. You can live without this item, but after you try it, you won't want to.

  • Easy to use and clean
    By A3GHCSLHZZW6S2 on 2007-12-04
This frother works perfectly for me. I eagerly opened it, pulled out the battery protector tab (batteries were already inside), turned it on in a cup of water to clean it for 10 seconds, and proceeded to use it with milk. The stand saves a lot of space and keeps this little tool clean, dry, and handy. I love having froth in my morning cup of mocha now, and sometimes a hot chocolate in the evening. This handy tool also helps 'mix' the hot chocolate in the hot milk, so it has additional benefits. Nothing bad to say about this wonderful innovation at all. Thank you to the brains who created this very efficient gadget.

  • Works well
    By A18ZNXDWCNTTAQ on 2007-12-30
This is a handy little device to froth your hot milk when you don't have a steamer handy. It seems sturdy, and is easy to clean (rinse under hot water is all). I like to have a latte in the morning, and when I was visiting a friend, she didn't have an expresso machine. She did have one of the old-fashioned expresso makers that you put on a burner, and she had one of these devices. I was able to make a latte in about the same time as with my fancy expresso maker at home. It makes a very nice froth, just like my expresso maker does. And it's a good price.

  • Frothing is A-1 - but leaves you "cold" unlike a traditional steam frother
    By A2M0HZ1XTUWG9M on 2006-12-03
I gave this as a gift to a friend, and although he claims it works fantastically as far as its frothing capabilities go - he tells me it has perhaps one downfall which is that because it is handheld, and/or a separate entity from his java machine, that it lacks the benefit of using pressurized steam to do the frothing. He tells me that he now has an extra step in preparing his morning jolt consisting of a brief stint into the microwave for his frothy "moo juice" before it can be inter-mingled with his xtra potent cuppa joe!

  • To slow
    By A28MQ13D5IZLVW on 2007-08-29
I bought this frother as a replacement for a manual plunger type frother. It takes forever. I gave it away within days of purchase.

  • Works Great

When I purchased this frother, it was only $10. Good deal then. I'm not sure about now.

  • Frothed Hot Chocolate
    By A33JPS3OQZACIT on 2008-01-04
This gadget works great to froth hot chocolate for myself & the kids. I got this little gadget for $9.99 on a special from Amazon and at that price it is a good deal. I don't think the $30 list is worth it though.

  • great little frother
    By A1PFXQZ21M32CR on 2008-06-25
I own a Nespresso espresso machine, which makes wonderful espresso, but I have not been happy with the milk steaming device that comes as part of the machine. Since I drink only lattes, I was at a loss about how to make them. This frother has made it all SO easy. I simply microwave the milk while I'm making the espresso, froth the milk (the whole process takes less than a minute), and pour the two together. Voila! GREAT lattes! I LOVE this frother! And it goes under a running faucet to clean--couldn't be easier.

  • Absolutely love it!
    By AFC4JP754LXB6 on 2007-05-30
I love this frother! It makes wonderful latte- I heat up my skim milk in the microwave about 40 seconds, then use the frother for about 5 seconds. Add a little caramel syrup and my coffee and I have an incredible coffee drink for much less than Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts! Much simpler than the espresso machine I bought in January which took about 20 minutes and was hard to clean- not to mention how the steam scared me! An added bonus- my daughter drinks all her milk now since I froth her chocolate, strawberry, or even white milk!!

  • neat and useful
    By A17X8N4UGWA91W on 2007-12-27
I bought an aerolatte for myself and each of my sisters-in-law. We all find it so useful for making capuccinos every time and it looks neat on the kitchen counter-top! Rinse as soon as you have used it and it's ready for next time.

  • Nice product
    By A4U6O56R85PFD on 2008-01-12
The Aerolatte does precisely what the manufacturer claims it will do.Nothing more, nothing less.

Having just returned from Italy, and having been reminded of the delights of coffee drinks with hot, foamy milk, my spouse and I thought we were destined to drag out the old machine with the cranky, fussy steam nozzle. But no! We found this little baby. Bliss.

We've only had it about a week, so I can't comment on long-term reliability. But if it breaks in 6 months, I'll just buy a new one.

  • Stopped working shortly after purchased
    By A2260ONA4AJQ19 on 2008-01-20
The Frother appears to be built well; I really liked the stainless steel construction. However, out of the box, it didn't work that well: would spin very slowly at first and then ramp up to a higher RPM. Once in the milk, it would bog down and stop spinning until I pulled it out again. I replaced the included batteries thinking they were bad, but it didn't help. Finally, after about five uses, it quit working all together. Maybe I got a lemon...

  • Does not live up to billing
    By AAK3CYNKNWUNP on 2008-02-14
Perhaps my expectations were too high, but this has been a bit of a disappointment. Skim won't froth period, 2% will froth if cold, and whole will froth if it is tepid. If you are using this for something besides frothing milk for espresso, etc., this it might be o.k., but that is the lone reason for me for this purchase. I will be looking into an actual frother. Harder to clean up, etc., but botom line I need something that works, and this comes up just a little short.

  • Best Frother for the Money
    By A1HAQP8CJHLGQ3 on 2008-05-06
I've bought many frothers through the years. I use it every day, several times a day. This is the best one ever- I've had an earlier Aerolatte model, but this has been improved- stronger motor and the stand is better designed, never topples over. I'm buying more as gifts, you can't get better for the price. I bought a plastic one for almost twice as much. This one is all stainless steel and it even comes with fresh batteries!
