Identical to higher priced ripoffs by Monster and the like By A3JZ5L52FM318H on 2005-06-02
As stated in other reviews, bits are bits. If they get from one system component to another, you're doing just as well with a $5 cable as a $60 one. Monster and other companies are ripping consumers off with gobbledeygook buzzwords designed to obscure the mind and open the pocketbook.
I have installed this cable in my system, and its performance delivering 5.1 channel audio and DTS from my PS3 to my receiver is flawless. It performs identically to the other more expensive optical cable I have.
As of my last check of this product page, $1.31 as a list price and $2.98 for shipping makes for a total of $4.29. This is an outrageously good deal, beating even many other discount outlets. If you have a receiver that uses optical digital for audio input (as opposed to HDMI, which most newer receivers utilize), you simply can't go wrong. A definite must-buy at this price.
Why pay more? By A1ODRRGE97D2E0 on 2005-01-05
I recieved one of these toslink optical cables so I could connect my xbox advanced A/V adapter to my digital suround sound receiver. It worked just fine. In my opinion it doesn't make sense to get esoteric about optical cables for home Audio/Video applications. Save yourself the money.
Remember -- bits are bits! By A22ZH05KUC94O on 2005-05-17
Either a cable is going to carry the bits from one end to the other, or it isn't. Optical doesn't need fancy stuff like gold plated contacts (yes, there are vendors who make optical cables with gold-plated contacts!). This inexpensive cable works great, and is going to sound every bit as good as a TOSLINK cable that costs 10x as much.
Works without any problem By A1FF7CE30GSOH9 on 2006-02-02
I used this cable to connect my DVD player to the receiver and what a difference in sound quality. I agree with other reviewers, thought this cable is non-brand name, there is no difference in quality of the sound.
Not the one in the picture By A14H5C8FC62GDA on 2007-11-07
OK, First of all I have to say that even though many people say that it does the job (which it does) it is extremely unacceptable to put a picture of a product and to sell another. That being said, I agree that the product did the job, but I had to do some work on one of the sides of the cable because it does not have the correct adapter.
Imagine that you get your product, you connect to your Playstation 3 or DVD Player or whatever. You see that it fits, it works, but then you see the other side of the cable and it is different, when you try to connect that to your home theater you realize it will never "click" so you need to put some silly putty or invisible tape to keep the cable in its place!! do you think that is acceptable? I think it is definitely not!
I know the product is cheap and I shouldn't expect a lot from it, but the least I expect is that the product I see in the picture is the same product I get by mail.
- Junk, absolute junk
     By A1KXJCXS6HFRQZ on 2007-10-10
First of all, the cable pictured isn't even the cable you receive. I liked how the plastic protector was linked to the cable. Well, the one I got did not have that. The cable itself is the most fragile looking piece of fiber optic, but I guess that's to be expected from such a cheap piece of junk.
Now, I bought this cable to link my xbox 360 to my receiver. But the end of the connector has a lip that prevents it from even locking into the socket. So it's basically worthless without a little modification. Anyway, this cable sucks so bad. I don't even think it's worth the cheap price I payed.
- Can't Beat The Price and Works Just As WELL
     By A1IRN3U5PVH44F on 2008-04-07
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R26L22MPAJ6ZJ Don't waste Money, just buy it !! - - - Looked at Wal-Mart and they are selling the same type cord for $25 dollars...It's All Fiber Optical so just Buy it ... I Did and i hooked it up to my playstation 3 then to my reciver and the Sound is Great. :)
- Get what you pay for...
     By A2RMLVG7G1C7UF on 2007-12-13
This was a very cheap optical cable. I have purchase other inexpensive optical cables before and they work fine. This one is just cheap. The connectors are just a bit to small, so instead of snapping into the receptacle they just fall out. I was able to wrap the end with some plumbers thread tape to get it to stay put. This cable will be replaced as soon as possible.
- Does the job
     By A3KCWQMEOLRC2U on 2007-03-12
It's an optical cable... as long as it isn't cracked and signal goes through sound will be great. It worked for me. No need to spend more! Shipping was high ($6) but price was good ($3.99). I didn't have to spend gas money to drive to store and pay $20 for same thing. If you need an optical cable... buy this! 6' was good for me... My theory is always get it longer than you need!
- Works as good as the $30 dollar Monster Optical
     By AJ0C0I8T64GEJ on 2007-04-16
I have this optical cable coming out of my PS3 and into my Sony receiver.
I can tell you that the sound quality is just as great as it is with the Monster Cable Optical Cable (3 ft) because I have one of those cables hooked up to my HD Cable box. I even used the Monster Cable with the PS3 during the first week - and I tell you, there is no difference between the two brands.
Don't get ripped off - spend the money you save in games or dvds!!
- Wrong Item sent - No Response
     By A2RE03O1GG3IX9 on 2007-11-06
I was also sent the wrong cable (Toslink to Mini-Toslink) by mistake. I emailed the seller to correct the mistake, but I did not receive a response. This was very misleading, as the product description and the posted picture lead you to believe you were purchasing a Toslink to Toslink cable.
- This cable works great
     By A37QGON7BCCVYB on 2007-09-13
I have an HDMI cable hooking up my PS3 to my Samsung LNT4065F 40" 1080p LCD HDTV, and I have this cable hooking up my Samsung LNT4065F to my Samsung HT-X70 DVD Home Theater System. The sound quality is awesome and the surround sound works perfectly. Works as good as cables priced 2x - 4x as much.
- great deal for the money
     By A2D92XS7W0BP09 on 2006-12-13
No sense paying big bucks for this type of cable. Although the cable jacket is a bit thin and not oriented for rough handling I am happy with the product and would recommend it.
- Good cable, cheap price
     By A22R0SBEFLYROF on 2007-02-22
Initially I was using a Monster optical cable borrowed from a friend. I decided to buy my own and chose this inexpensive cable. I can not tell the difference between the Monster optical cable and this one. A nice feature of the cable is the end caps are tied to the cable itself, this way they don't get lost. I have only been using the cable for a few days, so I can not speak to the longevity of the cable. Overall, I am satisfied and would buy this cable again.
- Works perfect for me.
     By A10ECTLLXH626K on 2007-04-03
I connected my Panasonic TH-50PX60U to my Onkyo TX-SR504 with this cable. I also connected my Onkyo and my Sony DVD player. Works great!
- Excellent cost to benefit ratio
     By A2BJLE3FZBDE8S on 2007-04-14
This cable costs probably 1/10th that of other cables like Monster but it does deliver the sound. I have connected my 50" Panasonic Plasma TV (TH-50PX60U) to my Harman Kardon receiver (AVR-235) and the sound is as good as my Phillips toslink cable (which cost me twenty bucks). Don't waste your money on other optical cables out there. Get this one, it'll do the job.
- Does what it is supposed to.
     By A1KKE6VX8VPWZK on 2008-01-25
Have had no issues with this cable. Saved me a great deal of money buying this vs. Monster. Try to avoid the hype over the "superior cables", bits are bits a 1 is a 1 and a 0 is a 0 there is no gray area here. The more expensive cables may have better ends and plastic surrounding the fiber optics, but they cannot improve the signal at all.
- Great cables!
     By ADQEM4CCLH7FB on 2006-10-05
I purchased these for my Creative Labs USB SoundBlaster Live! 24-Bit External Sound Card and Logitech Z-5450 Digital 5.1 Speaker System. The sound quality is great and better than the standard connection (1/4" analog cables). The company Parts Express has a lot of other items as well that are fairly priced , so stock up if you need more than just one cable it is well worth it. You will not be dissappointed.
- Excellent cable
     By A2492XE7PBMELT on 2006-12-02
The cable arrived quickly and in great condition, and the tips had small temporary protective covers, too. These cables are indistinguishable from the expensive box-store ripoffs. As another reviewer pointed out, while you have to pay a high shipping price the total cost of the cable is far below what you would pay in a store.
- Outstanding clarity
     By A2Z439RS80BN79 on 2007-01-10
This cable is so good, it puts the limiting factor back into my Infinity speakers. The clarity is truly something to hear.
- Works great
     By A1ZE8OLCEYZ4K2 on 2007-01-10
Works great and the product has a substantial quality feel. Shipping was high, but even then, it was less than half the price at regular B&M stores.
- Good product. Excellent value
     By A2XSW0D9V0EOJ on 2007-01-12
I bought a Toslink optical cable to connect my cable box to my stereo, never having used optical audio before. Wow, what a difference. The sound is crystal clear - just amazing. I can't say that the cable is the difference, but it sure works fine. Can't beat the price. I liked it so much I bought another to connect my DVD player up as well.
- No one will notice the difference. Don't pay more.
     By A22UQ6WTNZZS3C on 2007-02-11
A digital signal just doesn't need "high quality" expensive cables. Don't pay for more than you need!
- You will notice the difference immediately
     By A1LVMHXS9NDCGK on 2007-03-01
Front and rear surround speakers came to life instantly and I'm currently using "giant" floor speakers that came with old stereo systems 10-15 years ago.
- Great Deal...It beats the competition
     By A3OCI2FCWGFDUA on 2007-04-03
Good deal compared to Best Buy and other stores around..
It is worth the time waiting in the mail.
- A great cable at a great price
     By A2357N4OX1KDS8 on 2007-04-22
There is no reason to spend more for a TOSlink cable. By its nature, TOSlink connections either work perfectly or don't work at all. This cable works perfectly, and it is a decent length and flexible enough for most installations. The connectors stay in place and don't fall out like many even more expensive cables I've used.
- Excellent.
     By A2O2I1M1492T7P on 2007-04-30
Nice price, no need for monster's garden hose shielding as it won't do any good as these are optical signals. Work just as fine for a heck of a lot cheaper.
- Great Buy
     By A2U19SNA2ILW1W on 2007-05-13
Cable was identical to what BB and CC sell for $40.00. Package arrived in 3 days and was in perfect condition.
- fiber optic cable
     By A3QEC9G2NPJ303 on 2007-05-13

- Does The Job
     By A6U3DIVX7DU9G on 2007-05-31
Works as it should. I would have to say that I was a little worried that they would be junk but all 4 of the ones I purchased work just fine.
