Decent Product By AV1YU7SUT7ZO8 on 2005-02-14
You get what you pay for. This thing's not going to grab your feet and do obscene things nor is it feature-laden. Getting certain parts of your feet massaged can be difficult because lacking proper leverage the massager will push your feet around; like when you try to do your heels.
The motor pushing the counter-rotating balls is not very strong and can be easily stopped by the weight of your leg. I'm 6'1, 210lbs. If I put the full weight of my leg through my foot onto the massager, it stops. I'm not talking about pressing, just letting my leg rest so the entire weight focal point is the part of my foot resting on the massager.
It's worth the price but keep an eye out for something better.
Wonderful product! By A2SNI0MYFPH6B2 on 2005-10-28
My husband and I received this as a wedding gift. My husband is in law enforcement and stands on his feet 12 hours a day and I get tired of rubbing his feet! After receiving this massager, I have not had 1 request to massage my husband's feet. He loves this massager. The heat is wonderful and the spinning balls relieve muscle tension and pain in your feet. It would make a wonderful gift and I would buy one again if the current one ever breaks!
Does the trick By AX63ZVWU66BOG on 2005-05-23
Simple. Didn't want to deal with having to refill water, etc., just wanted some foot rubbin'. I find that sometimes from its motion my feet slide around a little, but I pretty much can usually find a way to make it work to get those hard-to-reach-spots.
The motor burns out quickly!!!!!!!!! By A2RRJQXRSWVBJ0 on 2006-02-04
I like this foot massager, I just which the motor would not go out. I purchased 3 different ones due to this problem. The 1st one I bought was from a local store and within 2 weeks the motor burned out. I took it back. I bought a different one from amazon motor burned out within 1 week. Same thing with the other unit, so I said forget it. I know it has a manufacturers warranty but I did not want to pay the extra cost to ship it and I did not want to continually have to get it serviced. So cut your losses.
Love this product!!! By A11X2OMJCPS9PP on 2006-10-25
I love this foot massager; the heat option is very soothing. I love a hard foot massage, and this hit's the spot!!!
Few things: Follow the instructions; don't use it for more than 20 min at a time. I did it for an hour the first time and my feet started to hurt.
Also, it helps if you wear some kind of socks (but try it both ways). When the feet are naked and the heat is on (they start to feel moist), and for me it just didn't feel right. But with addition of socks, it's perfect.
This was a good investment for my tired feet.
- Achy feet? This is a great solution.
     By A1TKAUA30IUW7X on 2007-10-09
I'm a student in Chicago and walking around downtown really make my feet tired at the end of the day. I spend 10 minutes on this thing and the aches disappear instantly.
PROS: Affordable. Cheaper than getting a massage at the spa. Very relaxing.
CONS: A big machine, not quite portable. Heats up slowly (when in heat mode). Massaging discs too close.
TIP: Use this with socks on. Bare feet cause a lot of friction with the rotating plastic surface and is very uncomfortable.
- Pretty good
     By A1V7FCHSHOHI2I on 2006-07-10
Pros: No messy water, inexpensive, does a good job massaging, you can always buy pumice stone attachments separately.
Cons: The rotators move the feet around to much so you have to hold them steady, not very warm
Overall: Perfect for me. My priorites were getting a good foot rub without spending a lot of money. I'm using it as we speak. I'm pretty happy with this one. I might get one for my mom now.
- Less than two months?
     By A1EWEX0JWDMFR0 on 2007-06-26
Since I have mild neuropathy in my feet my doctor suggested I try a foot massager. It really seemed to be helping when it went kaput. It lasted less than 6 weeks before the motor burned out. I thought I was quite careful not to put too much pressure on the machine when using - but alas it should have been sold as a novelity not a real massager. I may have expected too much for a 40 dollar machine but I was most disappointed.
- From a neuropathy sufferer...
     By A3P4D8PNHJUT44 on 2007-01-18
I received this for Christmas. I have intractable neuropathy as a result of trauma to back, legs, feet. Also have a morphine pump.
Anyway, due to the nerve pain, I'm always on the look-out for products that may be helpful to my feet. Yet, as a retired paramedic, I am very particular about what products I will try.
I saw this foot massager while christmas shopping with my mom at Kohl's. She must have noted my interest in it as she gave me one of these for christmas.
I, too, do not care for the water massagers due to the hassle of using them and for their set-up time and messiness. This looked to be a geat product. I have been researching for and looking for a good infrared heat/massager for months.
For anyone who has neuropathy these comments will make sense...Any minor trauma to my feet feels like millions of shards of glass stabbing my feet. Like yesterday when my dog ran across my feet and her claws dug into my feet it left me agonizing for 10 minutes. It drew blood and now I have no sensation of this still healing wound. Such is neuropathy.
I've tried this massager several times. I thought the poor heat was due to my neuropathy; others agree tho. I couldn't tell the difference between the settings of blue [non-heated] & red [heated]. I put medium to light pressure with my feet and no matter what it feels like the million shards of glass sensation. I do not think repeated use will build up my feet for this. [I may rig it up to use on my back, tho...]
I thought the design was innovative with the simultaneous/opposite rotational knobs. It is very light weight, easy to turn on-off; user-friendly.
I now have flat feet due to plantar fasciae release surgery so I had no trouble getting it to touch my 'arch' Yet, I do believe it could help more people if there was a setting to maybe raise the middle inset of rotating knobs for high arches.
I thought the edge was not quite right of an angle to rest in a comfortable manner while sitting on my couch nor in a chair in my dining room, nor my office chair. It was a good idea to include this though as it could help feet from slipping. I just didn't get the right angle & it kept me from being able to relax my ankles thus my feet.
I live with my mom who gave this foot massager to me. She has tried it and she likes the product a lot. So it was not a complete waste.
I just wanted to write this review for other neuropthy sufferes who may be contemplating getting one of these units for themselves. I would say to try one in the store first, if possible. I received as a gift so I had not tried it before.
Also, I would be interested if Brookstone had a similar product. I find their products to be of better quality than HoMedics' products.
- Not soothing, like walking on marbles, very little warmth!
     By A2HZN6P5H6E0NV on 2005-01-02
I was very disappointed in this massager. The rotating massagers feel like you are walking on marbles. The massaging pads are not soothing to the feet at all. The instructions say to allow a few moments for the infrared heat to warm up. After 20 minutes I was still waiting. The infrared heat was barely warm. I expected more of the product. It does not live up to the Homedics company reputation and it is twice the price of the other foot massagers. Don't buy this unit.
- I want to give it a 5 star rating
     By A1COI6MS1A7OIY on 2006-10-09
I want to give it a 5 star rating but IT DOES NOT REACH INTO A HIGH ARCH!!!
- Nice gift, easy to use.
     By A1ULAU0PVGHSDI on 2006-04-09
Got it for my mother. The nice thing is that it's not messy at all as it doesn't use water.
My mother really likes it and uses it all the time. At this price, this was really a great gift.
- mmmmm...toasty!
     By ANRLBE03796DS on 2006-01-19
I put this under my computer desk and it is awesome to massage my feet while I spend too much time online! Without the hassle of filling it up with water I definatly use it more, and it stays clean and presentable so I don't feel like I have to hide it if someone came over and saw it. You use it with your socks on so it stays clean and hygenic. I love it.
- Feet slide off. Didn't enjoy it. Returned it
     By A3TJ6HX5US1QR2 on 2007-05-29
I bought this at Walgreens and brought it home. At first it was a nice treat, especially with heat.
But my problem with it is that your feet slide off. You put your feet on it and the rotators move in a circle and slide your feet off, so you have to use your calf and leg muscles to hold your feet in place over the rotators. Theres no mechanism to hold your feet in place, so you cant relax your feet and legs and just enjoy a good massage.
- should have read the reviews first; stopped working after 20 mins.
     By A2K53QAMK0GUNP on 2007-11-11
My wife and I spent the entire day looking for a decent foot massager and finally bought this one at the store because it was reasonably priced and had the features my wife wanted. Got it home, plugged it in and it worked fine for 20 MINUTES then conked out completely. It died under her feet and refused to work again. Thinking it was some sort of fluke, I looked it up and found this page which contains several other accounts of this product crapping out on the first use. Seems to me a product this shoddy should have been recalled a long time ago and taken back to the lab for retooling.
Ignore any other decent or shining reviews of this product. Don't even take the chance. Based on the stats, the odds of this unit breaking down on you are amazingly high. If I'd read the reviews here first I might have saved myself the hassle of packing it back up and driving back out to the store to return it.
- not firm enough
     By A2LOTYI1GA1UM4 on 2007-05-23
The foot massage did not do that -massage. It was a very light touch so did nothing to benefit my feet. When I tried to put more pressure, it hardly moved.
- Best I have tried yet!
     By A1CPWVGJG09G91 on 2007-12-24
I just received this as a Christmas gift and I am VERY pleased. I spend a lot of time on my feet, and I love a good foot massage. This is a great product for the times when my feet are hurting from a busy day, or if I just want a relaxing massage. It is so much better than those that just vibrate. I have read the reviews that complain about the rotating balls pushing their feet off, or not being able to withstand much pressure from the foot, and I did not find any of it to be true. My feet rest easily on the rotating disk, and I can easily apply various amounts of pressure with no problems at all. I would HIGHLY recommend this to anyone!
- great item super fast free delivery
     By AQPSJX8UPSBWY on 2005-01-05
I purchased a back messager as a christmas gift. I wanted to buy a foot messager to match the back messager. I saw an awsome deal with amazon and decided 2 purchase (2). I also got a $30.00
credit signing up for the amazon c/card, and received free shipping. I ordered on December 27,04 (late), and was scheduled to arrive jan 6th/8th, 05. To my suprise I received it on dec.31st, just 3 days after ordering. This masseger works great and the money saved just adds to the amazement. This messager without the heat mode sells for $40.00 each everywhere I shopped. I got them for $18.56 each after the discounts. (2 for 1), simply amazing deal.
- not good
     By A1AH5ZVISAI5R9 on 2007-01-18
I returned this item, as it really didn't have enough power to massage hard enough, as I put more pressure on it, it slowed down, so unless you want a tickle, then this is not the item to purchase.
- Relaxed Feet
     By AJ6WH5K6U8X68 on 2007-05-24
I really enjoy this item, I love to treat my feet but I can only use this item for no more than about 5 minutes at a time, the pressure can get to be a little much after a while unless you like deep pressure.
- planned obsolescense
     By A2SDAWVPYD0YI7 on 2007-05-24
This product feels great... for about 30 minutes. Then it never works again. I've tried it three times.
- JUNK!!! DON'T EASTE YOUR TIME N MONEY:(
     By A38YR8DH1LYWH on 2007-07-23
This lasted a whole ten minutes out of the box, it doesn't feel all that good, made of plastic, returning ASAP! :(
- Stopped Working Within 2 hours & Dangerous!
     By A1NHI39C5KIYHK on 2007-12-21
My first impression was that it was a little akward to position my foot to get the right pressure on the right spot. It's a bit of a challenge to keep your foot in the perfect position. It did feel good and provided some relief.
I used it barefoot and was unable to feel much heat from the infrared. The instructions recommend socks. With socks on the infrared heat is non-existent.
The product died on the first night. The instructions say that it might overheat if over used and to let it rest. The instructions also say it is designed so that you cannot turn on the infrared without the motor for safety reasons. But when the motor burned out the infrared stays on. So not only did it fail on the first night, it left the infrared on which violates their own stated safety requirement.
I agree with the previous reviewer that this is simply a novelty item. It is not well design, it is not durable, and according to the company's own words, it is not safe either.
This is not the first time I've been disappointed with a Homedics device. This is the last Homedics product I'll ever buy.
- Stop running or working after 3 days
     By A2R0WRJ0502D1T on 2007-01-10
I like to try it out but after 3 days the motor burn out. I had to return to Amazon for refund. I will not need any new one.
- Not Satisfied With it
     By A1KB6BN6O8UK15 on 2007-01-12
I read plenty of reviews before buying this and thought it was going to be great. It does nothing for me, isn't what it claims to be. I personally wouldn't waste my money on it if I were you.
- I liked it, but my wife hated it...
     By A3U41AGU4VRZMT on 2007-01-21
Maybe I've just spoiled her over the years, but she did not like the way this unit operated. I liked it, but that could be due to me being a guy and it being relatively easy to please me regardless. One of the things my wife did complain about was the unit tended to "pinch" her feet with the opposite movement of the ball wheels. I did notice the balls themselves where plastic with a chrome-like finish on them. Not the most impressive material decision. Overall, I believe your satisfaction will be based on your previous experience with foot massages and your own expectations.
- HoMedics FM-CR Foot Pleaser Foot Massager
     By A2MHA9Y1QTXUGV on 2007-01-28
We use the massager when we are at the computer. Works great.
- Foot Pleaser? Maybe!
     By APL1YA2DTVULK on 2007-05-07
I like this machine...it does help the foot relax and certainly feels good. I was disappointed that I bought used without warranty as the right heat went out a week after I got it. There's nothing deep about the massage, so I felt somewhat mislead by other reviews. It's hard to relax your foot in use because the pressure on the device really causes drag. One rec is to wear socks when using which does help. Another negative is the turning wheels push your feet off the device so it's hard to keep them in one place, esp the place that needs massage...it's disappointing. Having sides or something to keep the foot in place would be helpful. But it does help more than not.
- junk
     By A241QCFV99CZSW on 2007-12-02
I turned it on and after about 15 minutes I smelled a burning motor and then it died wow those chinese are awesome
- okay
     By A17F9C53XQ89HR on 2007-12-28
This product was okay. It is not very comfortable when you are seated and getting your feet massaged. In order to keep your feet on the product you have to have your legs set in a certain position in order to keep your feet squarely on the foot rest.
