  • 5-star kitchen for 5-star kids

    By A14X8PU4E3APFE on 2005-06-29
As my kids began to outgrow their Discover Sounds kitchen, I began scouting around new kitchens. I checked out the many plastic molded kitchens, but opted to go the wood kitchen route. Of the wood kitchens, this is far and away the nicest, best equipped, and most attractive kitchen I've found. The sink is removable and can actually be filled with water. The faucet swivels, the clock hands are movable, there are two shelves in the cabinet beneath the sink for storage, two shelves in the refrigerator (in addition to the freezer compartment on top), and a white grooved shelf in the oven that serves as the removable oven rack.

There is room for lots and lots of playfood, dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and small appliances. I love that the color scheme is suitable for both boys and girls, and much more appealing than the more institutional-looking wood kitchens.

The assembled kitchen is approximately 42" wide X 43" high X 16" deep (excluding handles and knobs). It took my husband and I over an hour to assemble, and as each additional piece gets attached, it locks the piece together very solidly.

There is room for multiple children to play simultaneously, as my children often do. It is a major piece of our playroom, and an integral part of my kids' day-to-day play.

  • The best one out there

    By AYGFGP8B3C40L on 2006-11-17
This is the best kitchen out there. My kids have had it for about a year now. (4 and 2, a girl and a boy) And they LOVE it. They play with it everyday. We have TONS of kitchen accesories and they all fit. The freezer is one open space, the fridge has one shelf, the stove has one shelf and the pantry has one shelf. So this doubles as your storage too. My husband put it together, no problems. And i must add...the box came very damaged (it's very heavy and i guess the ups guy wasn't happy about that). It ended up that 4 major pieces were badly damaged. I called kidkraft and they sent brand new pieces (the big sides) no questions asked!!! so to top off a great product is a great company.

  • Amazing Value. The quality on this is unbelievable for the price!

    By AHFQ37FMQESFH on 2006-10-24
I purchased this kitchen last Christmas for my girls. When it arrived, both my husband and I were amazed at the quality. Assembly instructions(although it takes a few hours) were very clear and all of the parts and pieces were color coded and numbered. I consider this piece to be "furniture quality." To top it off, it is absolutely adorable and my girls (2 and 4) love to play with it. It is definitely the type of piece that can be passed down from generation to generation. If you are considering purchasing some of the kitchen sets from the pricier mall/catalog stores (you KNOW which ones I am talking about), consider this first.

  • The best kitchen for older children.

    By A2FP67E49XI91C on 2007-02-22
My 8 year old daughter wanted a play kitchen but I thought she was too big. I did some research and went to a lot of department stores looking for an age appropriate kitchen. Need I say she is also very tall. I found this large kitchen on Amazon and thought I would try it. I received it and the box was very heavy. I knew it was wooden but I did not think REAL WOOD. Well after about 2 dedicated hours getting it all together, I had just found the PERFECT kitchen for my very tall 8 year old daughter. If you are looking for a sturdy and beautiful kitchen then this is the one. I cannot say enough good things about this kitchen.

  • Perfect for my daughters

    By A269T73N5G9RDV on 2006-11-25
I researched awhile before settling on this kitchen. I wanted a wooden one that wasn't too pricey, but still sturdy enough for my kids. I had owned plastic kitchens in the past and they aren't sturdy enough because they have a tendency to tip over. This one is perfect! I have 3 daughters, ages 16 months to 9 years. Since I received this I can't get them out of the playroom. They play almost constantly with it, and my 9 year old son even gets in on the action. Assembling was rather easy as all the parts are numbered with easy to understand instructions. I though it would take hours considering all the screws included, but it took me only an hour and my husband only helped on the first 4 large pieces. The only negative was that it smelled chemically after opening it and assembling. We had to crack the playroom window in order for the smell to air out of the room overnight. I suggest that you open the box after receiving and let it air out for a day or so before assembly. The smell was enough to give us a headache. But I highly recommend this kitchen for anyone looking for a middle of the road price for a wooden kitchen - and some of those wooden kitchen's can be very expensive. It is large enough for a real feel in a kitchen, but not so oversized that it consumes the whole room. The clencher came when I was shopping for food-stuffs and went to Target where I found all varieties of food (meat, veggies, fruits, can goods, boxed goods, etc.), for a dollar each. For $20 I filled the whole kitchen full of stuff. This is really a perfect kitchen for my kids.

  • WOW!!
    By A1G84V9M8CC1T on 2005-11-21
This is the BEST kitchen I found in the three months I have been looking for one. It's beautiful, sturdy, and the kids just love it.We added some things to it to really make it special! I put some small cup hooks under the top shelf to hang pots and pans and some kitchen utensils including a pot holder. Now I encourage the kids to clean up the kitchen when they are done playing and every thing has a place. This makes it enjoyable to tidy up while teaching organization!!!!!THIS IS THE BEST!!!!!

  • Great for older children too!
    By A20AOHBFYPHCGE on 2007-02-02
Would highly recommend this kitchen. Kitchen is very sturdy (wish I had bought this instead of the plastic one I bought when she was 3) and great for older children. My daughter is a tall 5 yr old and other kitchen centers were too small for her. This one is perfect and she will get plenty of use out of it for many years to come. It does take time to assemble (almost 2 hours) so warn whoever will be doing the job. But the quality of product is well worth it.

  • Best money ever spent!
    By A1JMUB15T2HVBJ on 2006-12-28
I hesitated about spending this much money on a toy for my three-year-old daughter, even a really nice toy. But she kept insisting she wanted Santa to bring her a "stove" so she could cook (I cook a lot, and she is in the mimicking phase). So I researched kitchen sets extensively and the reviews from all over the Internet kept bringing me to this one. I could not be more pleased with this purchase, for LOTS of reasons, some of which are listed below:

    1) My husband, engineer by trade and furniture craftsman by hobby, is incredibly picky and critical of nearly all pre-fabricated kits/sets when it comes to things like this. A few years ago I purchased a very expensive, professional-grade dollhouse kit for him to build for a Christmas gift, and he was woefully unimpressed and I have never forgotten his displeasure. So I was really worried about this kitchen, and so was he. About halfway through the construction of this kitchen, he looked up and said, "This is one of the best kits I've ever seen." Which is the highest possible compliment he could have given, I promise. It did take him between 2.5 and 3 hours to put it together, because there are a LOT of screws. But the upside is this seems to be a remarkably well-constructed, sturdy piece, so it's worth the effort.

    2) My daughter is completely in love with this set. She opened it first (biggest present under the tree), and my husband and brother-in-law moved it into her room so that we could get to everyone else's gifts under the tree. My daughter followed the kitchen to her room, and we had to bribe her out for the rest of Christmas Day to open other presents, eat, etc! And she has repeatedly told me how much she loves her "stove." She received a set of play food and a shopping cart to go with this, and she has spent many hours "shopping" and then putting away her groceries and "cooking dinner."

Considering this set is so well-constructed and she is only 3, I think this purchase was well worth the investment for several years of quality imaginative play.

  • This is so delightful and well made! Soooo Pretty too!
    By A8NW0CXNM6VSR on 2005-12-27
I bought the model with the refrigerator and phone for my granddaughter and it is so precious! I was expecting something screwed together and flimsy but KidKraft uses metal screw plugs (I can't remember what they are really called) to put this together and it is very sturdy and the screws won't strip out the pressed wood. (It does weigh 80#s!) The hardware that is used to put this together is all organized in a little tray so it was very easy for me to find what I needed, normally you have to spend the first hour sorting out the screws. The directions are pretty easy to follow, I only had problems figuring out how to attach the top but it only took me a few minutes to get it right. I am a woman who has my own tools so I tackled this project by myself and it took me a couple of hours, if I had had help it probably would have been completed much more quickly. (I do recommend tearing off the page with the tray items to keep handy so you aren't constantly flipping back to that page since you need the tray items on every step.) My granddaughter's eyes lit up when she saw it and she played in there for hours (she will be three in January and loves to play pretend). This is such a cute addition to her girly room and I simply love the pastel colors. I love the quality and the design. Perfect!

  • Fantastic

I bought the type with the fridge attached. My daughter loves it. I researched kitchen sets well, and this by far was the most reccommended! Love it Love it Love it!!

  • wonderful play kitchen for pre-schooler
    By A38GZB849MC77X on 2006-08-08
We bought this for my daughter's 3 year birthday and it was a huge hit. It is very solid, a nice size (almost 4 ft high by almost 4 feet long), big enough for 2 children to play with simaltaneously, and most of all NOT PLASTIC. My husband and I were amazed at the quality for the price and I think my daughter will get several years worth of play out of it it. I highly recommend it (keep in mind it took my husband 2-3 hours to assemble)!!

  • An incredible kitchen
    By A3NR3CQUG94Z9H on 2007-02-28
I purchased the kitchen for the four year old girl I was adopting. The kitchen was delivered within a few short days of my order, which was faster than the date I was given. My friends set it up while I was away. When we entered my home we took my daughter to her new playroom and she began to gasp, then laughed and jumped up and down when she saw the kitchen. She immediately ran over and began to play with it. She is the size of a two year old and is able to reach every area of the kitchen. The colors are bright and there is plenty of room for storage. She has played with the kitchen everyday since we have arrived. I researched play kitchens for several weeks before purchasing and this kitchen is well worth the money. I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a superior kitchen for a family member.

  • Super kitchen!
    By A1AN3JMP7W0MLN on 2006-07-14
We bought this for our girls (4 and 2 yrs) last Christmas so we have last year's model so I can vouch for how well this has held up. They still love it and play with it daily. Great wooden design and sturdy construction, but let me tell you this is no small undertaking to assemble; it is easy but time consuming. If I only could have paid Santa to assemble! Other than that, as compared to the other wooden kitchens, it is a great product at this price point and much better quality than the plastic ones that make noises etc. as it is larger and in reality kids will use their imagination and don't need all that other stuff. My girls cook, bang, open doors and shove stuff in it and it takes it like a champ! The only drawback is that is is primarily made in feminine colors so if you have a little man that loves to cook Target now carries a great little wooden kitchen that is blue and has a stainless steel look to it plus they carry great wooden food and accessories.

  • Best Kitchenette Ever
    By on 2006-11-09
My 3.5 year old daughter loves her kitchen. I put it at the entrance of our kitchen where I can see her while I am cooking. So when I do kitchen work she does the same thing at her kitchen. Because they love to imitate at this age...Kitchenette was easy to put together. Looks great and it is very sturdy. She loves all the cuboards and microwave and the refrigerator. The sink part comes off so it is great when she mixes water and flour in there I can just take it out and wash it when she is done instead of wiping it all the time. Great buy.

  • multi do-it all kitchen

My daughter loves this kitchen set. She feels like shes has a real kitchen because it has all of the appliances a real kitchen has. She plays with everyday. It was by far a great investment.

  • Not only wood - particle board & MDF
    By A2JNN0EIRC293 on 2007-12-27
I had to return this kitchen upon arrival. If you are looking for a wood kitchen, look elsewhere as most of the parts in this kitchen are MDF and particle board. Due to formaldehyde emissions, I don't think MDF is ideally suited for children furniture or toys. If you don't really care however, the kitchen colors are very pretty and the build looks quite sturdy.

  • Dinner is FINALLY served!
    By A18AGJPOX8IOXK on 2007-01-09
This kitchen is wonderful for the price. Our toddler loves it. However...we did not love putting it together. The main piece you start with was backwards from the written instructions..so we had to take it apart and come up with a different route. Everything is marked though and has plain, easy to read instructions. Just hope things are marked correctly!

  • Excellent product

My girls love this kitchen. They play with it everyday. It has a lot of storage so you can store play food, dishes, etc.

  • kitchen
    By A3DKEBQOKW3P09 on 2006-11-10
It is a beautiful kitchen - my 3yo loves it - I bought
a lot of food and stuff to go with it and she gets a total kick out of it.
The microwave plastic came cracked and it was so involved putting it together
that we didn't bother un assembling it and sending it back.

  • Grat, but a lot of pieces!!
    By A2KGBBHNNI05EK on 2006-11-11
My daughter LOVES this kitchen, however, it takes some time to put together and there are so many pieces! Definitely a 2 person project!

  • Fabulous Quality-Pain Free Assembly
    By A3C1XYEA7HLX3X on 2007-01-13
After reading all the reviews, I went out on a limb and ordered this item, without having seen it before, for my children from Santa Claus. I warned my husband that the reviews said that it was a real pain to put together, but worth it. My husband assembled it in 2 hours without any help. He was also very impressed at the quality of the product. He said that it was as if the item had been assembled and then disassembled before shipping. Every piece fit exactly, every screw went in perfectly. My kids absolutely love it.

  • Encouraging Imagination
    By A17O87OL3GGGTG on 2007-01-25
Of all the kitchens I looked at I wanted to ensure that it was one that would last a while. My daughter is two and just starting to play "make believe" She LOVES the kitchen. While it doesn't have computerized parts she can do all the things that mom does in the kitchen. It is just like a piece of furniture in the room so make sure you have the space. When she gets older I'll use for storage of linens or some such. Don't be put off by all the small pieces, it takes some time to put together but can be done by a novice.

  • Kitchen is the best
    By A38MFLVV18L22A on 2007-06-27
I bought this kitchen after having had a plastic one break. I thought it looked very rich and sturdy. I was not disappointed. It looks like a real piece of furniture in my family room...no gaudy colors and no worry of anything breaking. My 2 and 3 year old play with it for hours! It is pretty to look at and is made very well. It was a little pricey, but it was the best investment I've made for them all year. They'll have it forever!

  • Extremely happy with this purchase!
    By A2PAVBLKILWSCC on 2006-12-26
I could not be more pleased with this kitchen. It is simply wonderful! It is undeniably one of the most visibly appealing play kitchens out there. It is the perfect size and easily accomodates two children playing at a time. Most importantly it is very durable. I can tell that it will last for many years in our home. The finish allows it to be easily cleaned. No need to fret if a little one colors on it as it will wipe right off!
While the assembly is a bit tedious (many screws) it is surprisingly easy. We had it together in about an hour and a half. My two year old son and four year old daughter absolutely love this kitchen and I am confident any child would.

  • LOVE IT!!!
    By A7747GB62R49L on 2007-01-05
Got this for my 2 1/2 yr old after looking at many other kitchen sets. Very sturdy and solid with tons of storage, not to mention very attractive. Much better than the plastic ones that are out there and w/o all of the lights and sounds that can be so annoying. Highly recommended & fabulous for the imagination. My daughter plays with it ALL of the time!

  • Large Kitchen
    By AFK77869T1VL6 on 2007-01-15
Excellent quality! It took some time to put together, but we were very impressed by the quality. We have a big playroom so the size works great for us. My daughter is 3 1/2 and my son 2 and they both really love it. They got it for Christamas and they Thanked us over and over the the kicthen. It will be something that will last thru their childhood and can be passed on to their children.

  • very good but...
    By A16SMXYVTAMWSO on 2007-12-07
Its a very good product overall. BUT, when I moved it from one location to another, the rounded corners broke at the bottom. You would think for something this heavy, the base would be well designed.

  • Excellent Entertainment!
    By AVT4DT6YGDR8N on 2007-12-12
We got this kitchen for my 1.5yr old. It was really easy to put together (good instructions and everything was labeled well and color coded) and it is in our living room. It makes a great play place but also still looks really classy in our main living room. My daughter has LOVED it from day one and will spend almost an hour by herself just playing in her kitchen.
