  • Tonic for Horsemania !

    By A6Y3JOD9I639R on 2004-10-08
This highly addictive game is super fun! My horse crazy daughter loves taking care of her own (virtual) horses - and hey, I'm off the hot seat because it sure beats having a real horse in our yard! This game is outstanding because it promotes friendship between the player and the virtual horses. The game installs easily and runs perfectly on our xp pc. The interface is easy-EASY, I haven't had to come to the rescue at all!

  • My Horse Farm is the best PC Game!!!!!

    By A20Y3CWNK5BOJO on 2005-04-16
(...)I got the My Horse Farm PC game for my birthday. It's really fun! It taught me about spending money wisely and how to make a living. In the game, you start off with $4000.00. That may seem like alot at the beginning of the game, but it's not enough to have your own farm, so a thing I do is sell my horse and increase the money on my guest house, and then I can buy two horses when I have enough money, and I get to breed a foal. You have to exercise your horse each round (a round is like a day. There is a button to make it a new day). I would not give it to kids under 8 years old. This game is a great game to play! Especially if you like horses! I recommend it highly! *****

  • A really AWESOME Horse Game

    By A1R1050ABE19GA on 2005-01-31
This game has it all and it is really addicting and offers a lot of variety. This is great for younger kids it's but it is also interesting and a lot of fun even for adults. You build and develop your own horse farm in a really nice sim. You buy and sell horses, groom, feed, pet and train them and extend your farm. You build stables, breed until you get the racehorse and try to attract customers to stay your inn/farm.

The tournaments are tons of fun. You have to train quite so you can get good enough and advance to the next level. At the horse dealer you can buy great stallions and also trade horses. You always have to try to have enough cash so you can advertise your farm and make more money and further extend your farm.

The cross-country trail is fun and since there are levels you can choose from - it's easy, medium or advanced. You can choose different trails and ride around a lot. The graphics are great and you can even change you clothes for an upcoming tournament and then change back into your stable gear when you take care of your horses.

I totally recommend it for horse lovers -- kids & grown-ups alike.

  • What a Horse Farm!

    By on 2005-04-25
This is an awesome game!!! It's so worth the money! You actually TRAIN your horses (not like other games where you just ride), and the cartoonish graphics actually make the game more fun. It teaches a lot of math and how to spend money wisely. Anyone could play this game and see it as fun!

  • A Great Game for all Horse Lovers

    By A26RM22MTNSO0K on 2005-02-24
Do not let the lack of graphics put you off. This is a very fine game for all ages. Great for the child (or adult) who always wants a horse, this game involves daily horse care like grooming and feeding (and do not forget the daily petting) and horse expenses (like trips to the vet and feed). The horse training is done in an arcade style steeplechase situation of varying levels of difficulty, which will prepare you for the inevitable competition in the horse shows. This will bring you to the question, is my horse not good enough or is it my ineptitude? There also is the upgrading to your farm, to bring in more income to keep your horse breeding and showing activities going. Then, throw in the opportunity to buy, train and/or breed your own horses to obtain the Champion. Each horse has it's own personality, interaction with the rider and jumping abilities. My age is far into adulthood and I am able to extract a lot of fun and excitement from this game and I am still learning more about it as I continue to play.

  • Somewhat fun but frustrating
    By A3A4VK2VYFVGB5 on 2006-01-28
Our 8 year old has played with the game and had fun. However, she always runs out of money. She tries different things on her own. I've tried different methods -- selling the horse as soon as possible, breeding a horse, selling both, following the game objective exactly, etc., and always run out. It gets old.

Riding was also a bit boring. Especially when one doesn't do everything quite right and the horse starts going backwards. It's a side scroller too. Dated. I payed less for FarCry and that is vastly superior in complexity and depth of levels. If only a top publisher would produce a decent horse game. I bet there are millions of parents who would buy it even for a Call of Duty 2 type price of $50.

Aside: I play FPS games -- single and multiplayer -- such as Farcry, Call of Duty, etc. and I'm pretty good. I found controlling the horse action more difficult than those at first. Until one gets a horse with decent power.

Again, the 8 year old was having fun to an extent. She'd play for an hour or so trying different things. Then give up. She wanted to build the farm she saw in the manual. I didn't think it was ever going to happen. Not with the $4000 that one starts with. But then I found the cheat. Type "idkfa" (no quotes) at the farm screen (you might need to hit enter after it). You'll hear an acknowledgement. Now hold the Tab key down and hit M to add money to your account. I just gave her a bundle just to build up the farm. She's loving it.

Later, I'll start her with $10,000 or so to give her a better chance. You can also add buildings by holding the Tab key down and hitting the one of the number keys: 1, 2, 3,...

Caveat: The instructions for the cheat state: "...using them may cause errors in the game and the only way to correct this is to uninstall the game and start over again." We haven't had any problems and it's made the game much more fun for her.

Also, my main machine is a Windows XP Home Edition 2.8GhZ Pentium 4, 1 GB RAM, BFG 6800GT video card, all the latest drivers installed. Not the most powerful system, but I can play most games out there... except this one. The game locks up at various times on this system. I've tried running it in Windows 95 and 98 emulation mode with various options selected to no avail. I've disabled my virus protection. Nothing works.

Luckily we still have a Win98 machine running. It runs fine on it.

Finally, the publisher is useless when it comes to support. Very little on their website. I've e-mailed two addresses that I've found and gotten no response. I sent these e-mails a month ago.

In conclusion, the game is fun(and frustrating) but not great. The side-scrolling riding is dated. You'll get no support from the company (certainly don't expect a patch to be offered). It might not run on an XP machine. At least the cheat will allow you to start with a reasonable amount of money. Good luck.

(and write the major gaming publishers like Activision, Microsoft, Ubisoft, etc., and ask for a good horse game. If enough parents and kids write, maybe they'll finally publish one.)

  • fun,fun,and more fun!
    By on 2006-10-22
At first I didnt like this game because of the graphics but once I learned how to play I really thought it was fun one time I was so interested that I woke up at 8:00am and played the whole game to 11:00pm
If you are a horse lover and know some amount about horses you will love this game if you do NOT like horses you might still like it but I dont know because I am a major horse lover so here are some things in the game-

-feed and groom your horse every day.

-keep practicing your riding skills you could make it to the championships

-they will giveyou tasks to do for instance "breed a horse".

    - you can go to the breeders office to breed a horse or you can own a stallion and a mare and buy the breeding pasture and breed them yourselves

If you buy this item I hope you have fun with it and hope my review was helpful to you.

  • The Game is Fantastic
    By A2GJ58L4BXDKE8 on 2005-05-17
I bought this for my 8 yr old grand daughter for Christmas. She is an avid horse lover. It is amazing what she is capable of figuring out on her own. On the game, she has been saving up money to purchase stud fees. She has even figured out if you take things back to the store you purchased for the horse, that they return money.
At first she was a little stumped, but after she caught on what was going on the computer hasnt shut off since then.
Highly recommend this game for a learning experience.

  • Love Horses? Then you'll love "My Horse Farm".
    By AH9J0GWVU2GB7 on 2005-09-30
My daughter loves "My Horse Farm". She spends hours playing, her fingers literally fly as she goes through the daily process of caring for her horses -- feeding, watering, pasturing, and all.

The program does have some minor bugs, (when she rides her horse is often invisible for example) but they don't seem to affect her enjoyment of the program.

  • My girls love it!
    By A1F7PQX4DLVA1G on 2005-02-28
My two daughters (ages 6 and 11), both experienced game players, enjoy "My Horse Farm" tremendously. My 6-year old does need occasional help from her older sister, but can play without assistance most of the time. My 11-year old also plays on her own without being bored. I do think its a great accomplishment for the game's creators that both girls like it! I recommend it highly!

  • The Best!!!!
    By on 2006-03-10
I give this game 5 billion stars, I love it sooooo much!! I know, it's really hard to start with $4000, but me and my friend did it, and now we've bought a horse that was $7650! And we earned it fair and square, no cheat codes or anyhting. Anyway, I have a few tips:
~When you have a foal, spend as much time as you can petting and brushing it. That way, when he/she's older, you won't have to spend endless rounds patting it until it finally looks at you. Just like with real foals, it's good to get them used to human touch early on!
~Also like real foals, the foals will come at any time, so always be on the lookout. I've had one foal (on the game) come the round after the mare was bred, and one about 15 rounds later!
~When you start out, I suggest buying the land and building the guest house, and buying the parking lot. Work on building your horse's trust early on, and you'll get $1,500 for it. When the guest house is built, advertise!!! Sometimes, you might run low on cash and your ad might not be able to be placed, but work with it!
~Hiring a groom is really good too. I always hire Kathy. They (despite their name) don't groom your horse, but they feed and muck out. Also, that way you can get some boarded horses.
~When your horse is injured with a contusion (which WILL happen), don't drag her to the vet. Instead, brush her, feed her, sponge her legs, and then go to the vet - by yourself - and click on the 'pharmacy(sp?)' button. Then click on long term medicences or whatever it's called. Then, buy the medicene that's in the little tube. Go home, and click on the first aid thing, and put it on your horse. A message should pop up that says "[horse's name] is reacting well to your treatment! After a few rounds, the resaults will show." Also, I recommend buying the hoof gaiters to help prevent injuries.
~The riding hall is a good source of income! It may be expensive to build, but it's worth it if you hire an instructor. Your farm has to be at level '2' to be able to build it. That just means your stable and house have to be upgraded once. Then go in and hire 'Max Mcjumper'. He's the best.
~NOTE: If a groom or instructor quits, just go back to your house and hire them again!
Happy playing! Come back and ask for more tips if you want, I'd be happy to help!

I have played games from all over, the Sims, all the zoo tycoon games, Nacy Drew, and a billion horse games but this game is one of the best!!!!
In the begining it is hard, really hard. However once you get going it is so much fun. Even My friend who hates computer games like's it. The grapics are animated but cute and you get rare colors like white once in a great while.

  • Horse Farm is a hit!
    By A4LVI76VLHCU5 on 2005-09-07
My 8-year old daughter has been crazy about horses for about a year now. We gave her this game because it's about as close to owning a horse as she is likely to get! She's having a ball with it, but I don't really know much about the quality of the game myself as I haven't played it. I've seen her playing it though, and the only reason I don't give it 5 stars is I think the graphics might have been better, but they are pretty good anyway, plenty good enough for an 8-year old to enjoy. What matters is SHE loves it!

  • I have a tip
    By on 2006-03-21
Let me start by saying I LOVE this game!!! Anyway, when your horse gets injured with a contusion, go to the vet alone, click long term medication, and buy the medicene that's in little tablets. Then go home, click on grooming, click on the first aid kit, click on the medicene and wah lah! Your horse is cured! (almost)

  • I AM 15 AND LOVE THIS GAME!
    By A2IQIY5NUO2P74 on 2005-01-29
This game is full of challenges. I think younger kids can learn a ton about horses and caring for them. If it get too hard, they can just go out to the trails to ride and jump. Teens like me are going to have to really think about running a farm. I am always thinking about my next steps and how to make my business grow. I guess I am addicted. The most important thing is that it's fun.

  • A Great Horse Game
    By on 2005-11-22
I'm 12 years old, and I thought this game was great! If you think that the cartoonish graphics look bad, they really aren't, because the game is still REALLY fun and cool with them. The game is very challenging; it teaches you how to manage a business during the ups and downs of money managment. I found this game challenging, as sometimes I was bankrupt, but other times I had well over 50,000 dollars. The game progresses in levels- your farm starts on level one, and the more you upgrade, the higher the levels it becomes. It is very hard to get started. You start with 4,000 dollars, but don't take it for granted. I start upgrading my farm gradually instead of spending my money recklessly. Overall, a very rewarding game. You get to train the horses which is very fun. Many other horse games "claim" that you get to train them, but this one actually works. Your horses start off as being not very good for riding, but you care for them and teach them how to jump and pace themselves. You also get to build up their strength and endurance, as well as sell and breed your horses. The game is fantastic! Once you get the hang of it, your business will be booming! 5 out of 5 stars! *****

  • Awesome from the very beginning
    By on 2005-12-30
Well, here I am! Back after Christmas like I said. Anyway, I just started playing My Horse Farm about an hour ago, and I am totally addicted! At First, the barn, the house, and the pasture are shabby, and they're the only pieces of land that you own. But you can buy all of the land around you and make it into a riding hall, a parking lot (once you make the parking lot, you automaticly get a trailer), an exercise ring, etc. I didn't realize how hard it was to start with only $4000! Here, I'll list some things I've picked up in the short while I've been playing:
*When you go into the horse's stall, she doesn't even look at you until you feed her because she doesn't trust you. Pet her a lot and groom her to earn her trust.
*Do the first level practice twice without over-heating or going to fast and falling, and then you can advance to the second level (although you have to set up obsticles)
*When flys start buzzing around your horse when she's in the stall, it's time to clean it.
*If you click the tack to put it on, it doesn't appear on the horse, but it's still on.
*If you upgrade you barn a little, your horse will stay healthier. My horse needed shots because she was eating hay from the ground, and when I upgraded the barn, the hay was in a hay rack.
*You don't need to upgrade the pastures first thing; I would start by building the guest house, and then the parking lot. Also, as I said, upgrading the barn is really good too.
*It takes a good few rounds to have a foal. You can breed your horse, and then take her to the vet to have a pregnancy test done, and she'll tell you if she's pregnat. Also, by upgrading you barn, you'll get another stall to keep the foal in when she/he's old enough.
*Your saddles will work for a while; I would get the insect repellant blanket, the clippers, and the least expensive pad before anything else.
*When your mare is pregnat, be sure to get her the mare and foal food. I forgot about that, and that was why my mare didn't seem pregnat at all.
Well, if I pick up anymore useful tips, I'll be back!

  • Sounds Like A Nice Game... For Horse Lovers
    By on 2006-07-25
I have forever looked for a game where you can breed your horse. I have found ones that you can breed your horse and race them, but that was not what I was thinking. This game sounds like it rocks. And I'm sure it does. So far, I have a list of good and bad like this:
    GOOD THINGS:
    *You can breed your horses.
*You take care of them and earn trust.
*Your horses get sick(Amazingly, this is not a bad thing! I like it!)
    BAD THINGS:
*To breed mares to the breeder's stallion, you have to pay a high stud fee.
*The horses must have a VERY high price if you want to buy them.
*Must be very hard, sounds like not many directions.

I bought this for my five year old on her birthday. I could not find an age recommendation on the description of the product. This is definately a game for a child that can read well. On the package it says eight and up. I wish I had known. I play it with her. I have had a hard time figuring it out, but that is the fun right?

My daughter has enjoyed this game very much and finds it be very realistic.

  • A GREAT horse game
    By on 2006-06-24
This game is great for learning responsibility and how to buget your money. The Gaphics might stink, but you really get used to them after a while. This game shows the real expenses of having a horse. It is really challenging starting with $4,000, but it is so much fun. At the very begining upgrade your stables. Also don't spend all of your money first thing.Plus I found that if breed your mare before you sell it, it will sell for more money. This game is great for horse lovers everywhere.

  • Pretty Good Game
    By A38A9QNS5CHZPB on 2006-09-01
In this game, you have a horse farm/resort. You have a horse that you take care of, ride, and breed. Eventually, you can show, too, but it is hard to win. Also, you have a resort on your farm, and you have to renovate and advertise. You have to keep up with your finaces all through the game.

I reccomend this game tothose who like horses, and are also interested in the bsiness side of horses.

  • This is livin' like i want to be livin'!!!!

Man is this game cool! I love it so much! It is tough but rewarding. I fall in love with the horses. I recomend this game for horse freaks like me!!!!!! Cool graphics too!

  • Daughter Loves It
    By ARAFFI1HL7XKO on 2005-08-29
My daughter loves this game. The game centers around making money and buying just the right items to keep the horse healthy as well as building a business. The instructions are as useless as the paper they are written on. The entire game is guess work. My daughter loves it and after playing it for several days she taught herself how to use it. Support for the program is non existent on the manufacturer's website. If you have trouble installing the program do not look for updates or help on the site.

  • Awesome game
    By A333QRDV180P0C on 2006-02-21
I wish that I could have given it 10 stars, but too bad. It is really fun and you can own up to five horses. They have many colors of horse, and you start out with a chestnut mare. Overall, this game is really easy and you get to have fun and bond with your horses. It is REALLY fun and I HIGHLY recommend it to horse lovers everywhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • THE BEST GAME EVER!!!!!!!!
    By on 2006-03-26
This is the best game in the universe!!! There are so many things to do, I can't even list them all!!!
But I have a tip about getting money: get a guest house! If you have a guest house, you'll get money almost everyday!
You can also breed your horses!!! If you have two horses, you can buy the Breeding Pasture and breed your horses in it.
If you have one horse, then you can put your horse in the horse trailer and bring it to the breeders'. There you can choose the horse you want to breed with.
Having foals is really fun! But so is buying horses, if you have the money.
Another thing that I love about this game is that there's a button where you can make it a new day in the game! (then yuo don't have to wait a REAL day).
The exercise trails are fun, but it's hard to finish levels 2 and 3 on time.
    BUT...
if you finish 2 you can go on long trail rides called "Ride Outs." IF you finish 3 you can go to the First Compitition!!!
I don't know just how you get qualified for the other competitions, but good luck!

  • An Awesome Game!
    By on 2006-05-18
This is greatest game! There's so many things to do--I never get bored when I'm playing this game!

You start out with $4000, but you can get a lot more by selling your horse. IF you have enough money, you can buy ANOTHER HORSE! You can have five horses at a time, but each one's price is pretty high.

Riding is fun, too. There are tons of fun riding courses--three exercise ones and nine trail rides called ride outs, but you have to finish exercise course # 2 before you can go on any ride outs.

There are three different levels for three different places in the ride outs. You can ride in the forest, at the beach, or in the city.

They're really fun, but hard, too.

Plus, you can up-grade your stable and get a guest house.

The five things you should do (called "Aim of the Game"), are: Have your horse's trust in you go to at least 95%, Breed a Foal, Complete All Three Exercise Courses, Have your Guest House money be high (upgrade the guest house), and Win the Champion Competition. On all of them (I think), you only get the money for them once (if you get another horse, and its trust goes up, but your first horse's trust was at at least 95% first, you won get the money for the trust again).

This is a really fun game--I recommend it totally!

  • This Game Looks Kool!

This game looks really cool. i thing they could of done a little better on the horses frum what i saw in the pictures frum the game. even so it looks like a bunch of fun. im deffinately gettin' it for the holidays!

  • wow
    By on 2005-09-05
this game is just............limited on what you can do. sure dressing up, having the horse of your dreams but their is the installing thing-like i had to use my parents 2000 computer. it wont work on my 98. and there is the gameplay, i personally spend 30 minutes on the computer and then get bored. but its fun to own a horse and have horses in love. the replay is realy bad because i dont know if youd want to play it again.the graphics are worse. take my word its fun yet boring. make sure you have a 2000 and also make sure you have a child that acually WILL stay entertained!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Counting down...
    By on 2005-11-15
I can't rate the game, yet, cuz I don't have it, but I am counting the days until Christmas, when I'll be ripping open the package to find it. So I'll rate it on how I think I'll like it. At first I thought the graphics were...well, weird, but it was a horse game, so I liked it, but now I'm in love the cartoonish horses!!! And I've been reading about how you can feed, really exercise the horses, go to the vet and farrier!!! I'll be back with a reveiw after Christmas!!!
