  • Great companion for your iPod Shuffle

    By AGHZXQL9F94T9 on 2005-03-19
This is an excellent way to recharge your Shuffle away from the computer in a hassle free manner. Just plug it into the wall and you are done, no wires. The plug also folds in for easy storage, just like any other Apple or Canon Elph charger.

Say you ran out charge in the gym or in a non-tech-savvy friend's house, just pull this out of your bag and ready to go in a few minutes!

It can also be used to charge any other device which has a USB recharging capability. I have tested in on Palmone's Zire PDA so far and it works great. I am already looking for a USB cable for my Sony Ericsson phone. A possible to solution to mutiple chargers on your next trip.

Maybe a little bit overpriced but it still is affordably priced. Nice addition to your iPod Shuffle!

  • Charges my Nano Just Fine!

    By A242IFN64X6R4E on 2005-10-26

I use this to charge my Apple Nano Ipod.

    There's no problems using it.

The nano seems to charge quickly using this adapter!

There's nothing else to buy, just plug in the usb 2 cable that comes with the nano into this and the other end of the cable into the nano, and then the adapter into your electrical outlet.

I think it is a shame the Nano does not come with this included!

Anyway, this seems to be a very good charging adapter. It's just way too pricey -- even for the high-quality construction of it.

  • Because it's white?

    By ATFH6GCJPSJ8X on 2005-10-10
Almost all the reviews concertrated on how useful this thing is - no question about that. I give it one star becuse you can buy similar products for up to 1/6 the price.

  • iPod is near useless without it. Holiday makers need it!

    By AD0J5KK4WQXNS on 2005-10-05
APPLE REALLY SHOULD BE SHIPPING THIS ADAPTOR WITH THE IPOD. THE IPOD CAN NOT BE CHARGED FROM A POWER MAINS WITHOUT IT! iPod is designed to go places. However it is only designed to live if it has a computer with a USB interface that it can recharge from. For this reason you need to own a computer if you want to use your iPod or there needs to be a computer at your destination. This is the one major flaw with the iPod that can only be overcome with this device - a very simple, albeit very expensive, USB to mains adaptor. This means you can recharge your iPod at any point that has a power mains, so you can in theory charge it anywhere, however you will need to find another adaptor if the mains standard changes but this is just the case of finding a local power adaptor from an electrical store which costs next to nothing when compared to this USB to mains which is a unique and rare adaptor and is not something I would count on the local tourist destination to have in stock. So if you want to take your iPod abroad, get this. If you really want to go all kitted out for the most extreme then you can consider the "World Travel Kit" that has six variations in the actual mains adaptor, but you still need this USB adaptor item if you get the World Travel Kit because it is the main USB connection that the World Travel Kit does not come with. The USB adaptor has a slot to change these mains. It comes with one mains connection depending on where you buy the adaptor (it ships with the local standard). It slips in and out easily enough. The USB connection is a little stiff and requires a good push or pull to get it in or out. To be honest I would not bother with the World Travel Kit and just find a local supplier who can find a mains adaptor that fits onto your USB mains adaptor type. It will probably be cheaper because Apple charge another $40 for the World Travel Kit. So it costs $70 for the USB to Mains and World Travel Kit in total. Those prices are almost criminal. I can understand paying for the World Travel Kit, maybe, but the fact that this needed adaptor is not with the iPod when you buy it just goes to show that Apple is still notoriously bad at providing customers with a full product. Discovering that you need a component is not funny. Lots of people get their MP3 players loaded up using another person's computer and library. The iPod is absolutely useless for these people unless they have this adaptor. Five star product though. It looks good and works. Has a nice mains changeable feature for those who want to go with the World Travel Kit. APPLE really need to advertise the fact that the iPod has NO MAINS CONNECTION.

  • DONT BUY!!! ITS A RIP OFF

    By A1BOH1RT9AVL0M on 2006-04-26
Don't let apple continue ripping you off, don't buy their products. Search for other USP power adaptors. Search under "iPod USB travel adapter. Apple doesn't have a right to rip you off after you paid hundreds of dollars for your iPod.

  • Overpriced - do some research!
    By A1CM0FAJN57MXA on 2005-12-30
Don't waste $30 on this adapter. You can get an aftermarket one on Amazon for under $10! Just search by "USB Power Adapter." Apple is famous for this - selling add ons that are triple the price of something you can get elsewhere. They used to be able to do this before Ipod's became so popular and companies started making copies of their docks, chargers, cases, etc....

  • Must Have
    By A2U2M4SBLIMS42 on 2005-10-07
I found this extremely useful because before, when I went on vacation my ipod would run out of batteries and I wouldn't have any music for a few days because I couldn't get to a computer. You just have to plug it into the wall and put in it the cord that you put into your computer to charge it. You can use it while using the itrip or any other accesories. I would recomend this to all people expecially if you travel or are away from a computer for awhile. It is well worth the money.

  • It is what it is.
    By A15OES03L4TKUO on 2006-02-25
Let's cut to the chase: what you're buying here is a shiny, well-constructed white brick that comes in a fancy package, which will inevitably be thrown away. It does exactly one thing and one thing only - it charges iPods.

Though it's sold as an accessory, the Apple iPod USB Power Adapter doesn't really strike me as something that should be an à la carte option. There are simply times when it isn't convenient to charge one's iPod(s) from a computer. So, from a value standpoint, making the consumer pay 30 bucks for something that a) should be standard and b) probably costs less than a couple dollars to make is a little absurd. Sure, the businessman in me is laughing with Apple all the way to the bank, but the consumer side of me questions exactly what it is they're trying to achieve.

  • Accessories is where the money is!!!
    By A3C1GV89DSSCEB on 2005-12-13
This is 30 dollar too expensive for something that should have been included on a 300 dollar Ipod!!!!

  • Great Idea
    By on 2005-03-08
This is a great thing for when you are traveling without your laptop. You can just plug it in at the nearest outlet, and charge your ipod (or whatever).
    Great Idea

  • Fair Enough...
    By ALVVV1F6HJI5T on 2005-07-29

The iPod USB Power Adapter is a handy device for easily charging your iPod when in a hotel, or any where that doesn't have a computer.

The packaging is quite simple. Slide off the seal, take the adapter out, plug it in a wall. You're all set. The prongs can collapse into the adapter so that it is easier to store.

It's a simple product. No negatives in sight...

    5/5

  • No
    By AE3ZAVDR50N3M on 2006-03-16
I refuse to purchase this for my iPod. This should of been included with it! Now, I can see not including cases, speakers, docks and all the other iPod accessories with an iPod... those aren't necessarily essential parts, but, an AC adapter? Come on! This is such a rip off! You pay for the device, now your supposed to have to pay to charge it away from a computer? No, bad Apple.

  • Good but
    By A1NYYB0LQI9KPT on 2006-04-06
This is ok but they have a charger for the Nano (Not sure about the Mini) thatis 4.99 which is a lot better than this. So search Ipod Nano and you'll find it :)

  • needed
    By on 2005-06-25
u know i think this is a must have if u wanna charge any ipod, so this should be a needed item for a ipod, ipod mini, ipod u2, ipod photo, and a ipod shuffle. This is WAY better then chargin in the comp.

  • Price gouging!
    By ACTYEF1NSLBHL on 2005-07-02
Altough most people will be able to charge their iPods through USB, some people may not have USB ports, or they're only 500mA, or they simply want to charge from the wall. Its only a transformer used to step down your wall outlet (110-125V, 1.5A) to USB2 (5V, someA, so its seems grossly overpriced in typical apple fashion.

  • Official APPLE brand
    By A1I1OR5F9QROZQ on 2005-07-25
Although this charger is no doubt expensive, it is definitely worth it if you bought an iPod mini or an iPod shuffle that did not come with one. With this charger, you can now charge your iPod, or shuffle, without being near a computer.

The AC charger charges much faster than attaching the iPod to a computer via firewire or USB. To charge an iPod, all you have to do is plug your USB cable to the charger, and then attach your iPod. With the shuffle, all you have to do is plug it in (no wires to mess around with).

For those who do not know, when you plug in the iPod to the adapter, you can listen to it without losing power. Great feature.

Another advantage of this charger is that if you happen to travel outside the US to other countries, you can buy an adapter pack which will enable you to plug this charger into foreign outlets.

There are third party chargers that are probably cheaper but not only will those void your warranty, but furthermore, they might even mess up your iPod/shuffle permanently.

  • You Want This
    By AJK5WHV1GW941 on 2006-05-12
IPod Owners: Once you realize that the battery life of an iPod is between 8 and 12 hours and you are no where near your PC, you are going to want this, trust me. This is a convient way for one to charge their iPod using just their USB cable and the adapter. It charges just as quickly as your computer and get this...if you have your songs on shuffle, by charging it from the adapter, it won't start the songs over. It picks up right where shuffle left off. That is its best feature by far! I can say nothing but positive things about this adapter. Its worth every penny. Pick yours up today!

  • But really,
    By AN8S0QRB8I3Y6 on 2006-09-27
...this should be included in the box when you buy the iPod. Shame on you, Apple.

  • Perfect
    By on 2005-06-28
It's great since the ipod mini doesnt come with a wall charger. If you don't have this you'll have to leave your computer on all night long to charge it.I highly reccomend it!!!

  • big wow
    By AGJKOVM31WQN2 on 2005-12-24
yeah- works great, but for $30?! Well I guess Apple in in a position to charge that kind of money and if you don't schlep you laptop around how else are you going to recharge it.
btw - the firewire version I first bought by mistake came with the overseas adaptors.
I guess I shouldn't be suprised. These guys (Apple) have become real cocky since they've been doing so well as a company the last few years. If they keep ripping loyal customers off like this it won't last. Fu Jobs

  • Good deal, even if it should come with the iPod
    By A14R8HGDU7DPM4 on 2006-03-24
I was a bit annoyed when I opened up my brand new iPod to discover that I had no way of charging it if I was away from my computer. I had read previous posts regarding this fact and heard that a charger USED to be included with the iPod. Oh well.
Despite that, I was willing to pay the extra money for the convenience of being able to charge my iPod anywhere. It works with the USB cable the iPod comes with. You just plug the cable into the iPod and then plug the USB side into the USB port on the adapter. I would also suggest getting the car charger as well, if you frequently use your iPod in the car.

  • A definite must have for iPod owners!
    By A2Y1GABZ48P6E1 on 2006-08-26
When you use the video function on your iPod it depletes the battery pretty quick. I can keep this nifty little gadget with me and juice up my iPod anytime I want. Great product, I highly recommend it!

  • Very Useful!
    By A3PVRR1LGYHMEA on 2006-06-05
Recharging using your computer is very inconvienent when it comes to traveling or...there's no computer around. So this device is very useful because you can recharge your iPod using the wall outlets! Like many users have written, they should include this accessory when you buy iPod, because it feels like a complete ripoff! I bought this in Best Buy for $39.99 last year and now the price dropped to $30! So Apple is really consumer-unfriendly! What's next? Car charger?

  • Buy the Apple USB Power Adapter
    By A2WACD3CTPBFIT on 2006-10-30

Yes, Apple should include this thing -- with the higher end iPods, at least. But they don't.

The point of this post is to remind prospective USB-Power-Adapter buyers this: with electronics, you tend to get what you pay for.

So, you're tempted by those three-dollar, off-brand USB adapters? Stay away from them. You have, probably, a couple hundred bucks tied up in your iPod(s); it doesn't make sense to cheap-out now and take a risk with shoddy, fly-by-night electronics for your iPod....the same iPod that you scrupulously protect from scratches and such. Apple designed their USB Power Adapter to work with their iPods. And they do work. Very well.

Shame on Apple for fleecing us, though. But, shame on you if you damage the electronics of your iPod by using some third-rate, flea market power adapter.

    Just buy Apple's.

  • A must have!
    By A3PFOJV5VL2VPS on 2005-09-07
Not having to use the pc to charge up my I pod mini is fantastic! It charges it much faster. Packed it on my vacation but wound up not having to use it. The charge held more than one week and I used it a lot! It's quite compact, just tuck in those little prongs and off you go! Oh yeah, you do have to remember to bring the USB cable, it would be kinda useless without it.

  • Power adapter
    By AXE99N1MPPE2U on 2006-01-30
It works exactly as it's supposed to. The power tines even fold for easier travel. It's very useful if you ever travel.

  • Can't complain.
    By A2ART76MWF7ZYA on 2006-03-01
Gave this to my friend as a birthday present. Works great. Charges his video ipod in half an hour compared to 4 hours when plugged into a USB port. As the title states - can't complain.

  • What is wrong with Apple?
    By A23OBUD042MMX5 on 2006-03-09
I bought an ipod video and could not believe it did not come with a charger. I looked and looked inside the box thinking that I missed it, but unfortunately, I did not miss it, it was not there.

There are certain things that do not make sense. Apple selling an ipod without a charger is one of them. What is next, a Mac Book Pro without a hardrive because you can connect it to one of your external USB hard drives?

Come on Apple, you can do better than this!

  • no problems work great with Nano or Mini IPod
    By A2UGJNQ9EU9H77 on 2006-03-19
We have two different iPod in the family & this fits them both well.

  • Expensive But Useful
    By A3UMA00Z319GT0 on 2006-06-13
At first it seemed nice, how you just plugged your iPod into your computer and it would charge. But there are so many times when you're not around a computer when you will want your iPod charged. Vacations, for example.

I thought the iPod USB Power Adapter was a bit too expensive...but I bought it, because you're going to need it if you're ever away from a computer for a few days. A very big plus is that you can listen to your iPod while you're charging it - very useful.
