  • Cheap, solid, works well

    By A3JZ5L52FM318H on 2006-08-14
Like many others here, I use this gamepad for emulators. I am pleasantly surprised by the compatibility - it works with every emulator I've tried it with (MAME, SNES9x, Nester, Gens, VColeco, Stella). There are no drivers to install if you own Windows XP - detection is flawless.

The button action is good enough to accurately simulate the feel of, say, an SNES controller or a NES controller. The d-pad is just slightly inferior to those original controllers' pads, but only ever so (no one has truly gotten it right since the big N did in those days). The buttons have enough of a digital click to them, without going overboard. They strike a great balance between click and mushiness.

This gamepad is shaped comfortably, like a PS2 pad minus the dual analog sticks. While it is light, it is not flimsy - squeezing and twisting your hands on the plastic produces very little "give" on the thick plastic parts.

I also like the pad aesthetically. The dark blue plastic is handsome and the shape is pleasing to the eye. This might seem silly, but if you're going to look at the thing resting atop your PC for months or years, it's at least a minor factor.

If, as is currently the case, this pad is available for $10 with Super Saver Shipping, you should not hesitate. For $10 or under, this gamepad is a steal!

  • Great controller at a great price

    By ABSPNQOOFJVGZ on 2006-02-14
This is a great piece of equipment. I'm using it with RockNES (a Nintendo emulator) on my Macintosh in OSX 10.4.4 and it works great. I didn't need to run any software, it just worked from the minute I plugged it in. It's extremely comfortable, the buttons are all programmable, and the directional pad is very precise. I tried a $30 controller that was a cheap piece of junk compared to this one. Super serious gamers who need analog joysticks or more buttons than a Playstation 2 controller will need to find something more sophisticated, but everyone else will find this controller to be a fantastic value.

  • Perfect for SNES Games

    By A1JGCNJYLR2GKC on 2005-09-22
This controller is more comfortable than even an SNES controller, so this is a perfect accessory for playing SNES games on your computer.

I bought this controller for my parents so they could play their favorite SNES video games on the computer. They're fans of simple, old-school video games and don't have any interest in newer, more advanced games. I wanted to make sure the controller I bought for them felt and played like the original SNES controller. My parents seem to be satisfied with the controller, and I hear that my dad likes to spend too much time playing Dr. Mario on the computer.

Before buying this controller, I had bought several Nyko Technologies Airflow controllers. the Nyko Airflow controllers have more buttons and are more customizable, but they don't feel as comfortable as the Logitech Precision Gamepad. If you want to play simple games that don't require that many buttons, I would recommend this controller. If you're into advanced PC games or Playstation/Nintendo 64 emulators, then you'll need a more advanced controller, such as the Nyko controllers. The buttons aren't as soft as the buttons on the Logitech controller, however.

  • Best Gamepad I've ever used.

    By A2L0OPNG1DZVQD on 2005-10-25
My previous game pad was clunky and unresponsive. I'd play a game that I would normally do well in with no problem using a console controller, and get stomped because the pad was so bad. So I went online, and looked at other options for game pads and came across the Logitech Precision game pad. I read the reviews, and everyone said it was great. And at the low price of ten bucks, I decided to try it out. Let me tell you, this pad is a great way to spend ten bucks if you play games on your computer. The buttons are extremely responsive. In a section of a game I died at least 20 times in before giving up on with my old game pad, I completed it without dying once using the Logitech Precision.

In conclusion, this game pad is definitely worth every penny.

  • great feeling pad so long as you don't need analog!

    By A1SMHIPICUSIFP on 2006-01-18
This is a great gamepad - it's cheap, it's easy to use, and it works just fine with Macs and PCs (I've used it on both). As its name suggests, it's very precise, and I find it perfect for those arcade style games that don't necessarily require a precise analog controller. If you're wanting a gamepad for driving games though, the Logitech Dual Shock or Rumblepad is a better idea.

  • Logitech was very precise on their precision gamepad
    By A1WBKJDYB2NIE8 on 2005-12-21
One very big problem I have with every controller ever invented besides the regular nintendo controller is that the control pads are horrible. You'll press down and it'll move down diagonally right or they will be too small and when you go to press a direction you actually hit two directions.
The control pad on the Logitech Precision is state of the art and the controller design is remarkable. The controller has a slick, smooth design that fits comfortably in your hands.
You'd think that a controller with 10 buttons would be cluttered but the Precision has the buttons evenly distributed and allows for many options. I am very impressed by the response of the controller and the versatility it allows with all the buttons.
The Logitech Precision is one of the few complete controllers out there. If you are a fan of the SNES/PS controllers then this is definitly the controller for you.

  • Excellent Gamepad for $9.99
    By A2NE5C03LE6WWT on 2006-01-27
I purchased this for use with Star Wars Lego PC game. It's the right size for small hands and the controls are very responsive. The gamepad worked the instant I plugged it in to the USB port. I did have to assign each button using the game's controller set-up menu, but it was very easy. Could not be more pleased with this purchase.

  • Great product...
    By A39URY62IQK58 on 2005-09-10
I replaced 2 old school MS Sidewinders with these (the MS ones that used the gameport connection)... these are GREAT! More responsive, and a great pad for the price. I wish there was a way to daisy chain them like the old sidewinders, but a hub solves that problem. They seem a little small at first, but then mold to your hand nicely. Also, they just plan look cool (like in the pic)... not a cheap looking see-though blue... but a dark/rich blue. You won't be disappointed.

  • Great low-cost game pad
    By A3N76SQ3VXQEKK on 2005-09-15
It takes a few minutes to get used to how this game pad feels when you hold it in your hands, but it is a great USB game pad for how little it costs. Works right out of the box in Windows with no need to install drivers, and it worked perfectly in Linux too.

  • Excellent for SNES Games
    By A1I1DZE7QMRR1R on 2005-09-16
It's perfect for SNES games played on the computer, just like playing the original. Works perfectly. Easy install. Comfortable. Reasonable price.

  • Get what u paid for
    By A2NWUCVIZLX6WZ on 2006-07-06
For under $10 and free shipping you have had more than what you paid. For a budget-concern gamer, this is a must buy. I have had this thing over a month and I like it. It dosn't have any fancy stuff, but as a controller, it has advantage over your keyboard and also prevent several special keys of your keyboard being damaged. That is all what you would expect from an Entry level controller.

  • Works great once programmed.
    By A17761W82YC1TB on 2006-07-31
This controller is everything you need, but it requires some time to program it. The only problem is that it doesn't come with the programming software. You must go to the Logitech website and download it. Then you have to read the documentation and experiment with the game you'll be playing to make sure you are comfortable with all the presets. I got it for Half-Life 2 and it worked fine, but it took me about 30 min to program it.

  • Excellent Pad!
    By A13I5AEKK3RCG4 on 2006-04-07
I didn't have a good history with PC gamepads until I bought the Logitech Precision 2. I tried several different models, only to find that each of them dragged in a specific direction, the buttons didn't function properly, or they didn't work at all. With the Precision 2, I experienced none of this.

I'm not much for the high-end PC games, so I can't speak much for its effectiveness on that front. However, for emulators and other classic games, this is the best choice out there. I'm pleased to report that the name "Precision" was not a broken promise. The pad even performs effectively on fighting games, where you have to input ridiculously long combinations of motions in order to perform the best moves.

Great pad for a great price. I liked mine so much that I bought a second one for my fiancee. You won't go wrong here!

  • SNES games, this is perfect. No configuration needed.
    By A2ONQ06NT2WCE6 on 2006-05-17
Once plugged in, it was recoginized right away by Win XP. Playing SNES emulator games this one is perfect. Crisp control and good ergonomics. Nice looking gamepad has all the buttons needed for SNES.

  • Worth it
    By A2QZK7JKI1GQO9 on 2006-06-27
Does what it said it would do: Plug and play. I have an SNES rom simulator on my PC and this controller works very well. It's one of the best PC controllers out there and I recommend it.

  • Perfect
    By A1U4QUD3JKROLC on 2006-09-10
If you need a cheap PC controller to play systems on emulators like NES or SNES, then this is perfect. The buttons respond perfectly. The D-pad isn't perfect, but it's excellent. There's nothing wrong with this at all.

    Get it.

  • Very Precise
    By A372ABAMPKWWKK on 2006-10-28
    Good one, good price.
I do not play many fancy games, for me its more than enough to play some PC games with it.

  • A complete waste of money
    By AAAO80KHHOEY5 on 2007-11-30
I bought this for my mac to play a pangea game called Nanosaur and guess what ? It is not compatible even though the literature on the logitech says it works on Macs. What is doesn't say is that it doesn't work on this particular game .I am supposed to have figured that out before I bought the wretched thing. Now I could get the MacAlly ishock II which will work with my G4 but when I upgrade to an intel it will be useless. Like so many companies customer support is nonexistent . Ever noticed how hard it is just to find a phone number somewhere on so many of these sites? Frustrated !!!!!!

  • Basic gamepad that does the job
    By AMUPI7DSDCFJG on 2007-06-12
I have to admit that I went for this item because it was cheap and I generally regret paying top dollar for game controllers that break within months of being purchased. I've had this gamepad for a couple of months now and it's taken a fair amount of abuse, but best of all it still works!
Don't be deceived by its flimsy look and feel, it seems to be well made and stands up to aggressive use.
As you'd expect for a USB controller, you simply plug it into an available USB port and it is detected by the operating system automatically. It's ready to be used within seconds.
For those that require a gazillion buttons then this is not for you, it just has the four shoulder buttons (which I need), a directional pad with four buttons and two extra control buttons in the middle (for pausing games, starting games etc). There are no analog sticks or throttle controls.
I have given this product four stars simply because I wasn't blown away by it. It does feel a bit lightweight, like it's about to break, although that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Most of all, it does the job for which it was intended without any fuss, and no more and no less.

  • Cheap Perfection!
    By ABY7MC04AWPD4 on 2007-08-07
First of all, at 10 dollars, how could you not? I'm just taking a stab at this by saying that most people will be using this for Emulation software. Am I right? Well, I am using SNES9X, this works PERFECT, i got it mapped exactly like a SNES controller would, and having buttons 7 and 8 mapped to "Save game, and Load game". Perfect setup, perfect controller, perfect price!

Its very, very sleek, and really comfertable to hold.. dare i say, but it SLIGHTLY (lol) resembles the PS controller.. only slightly.

My only complaint, im not the biggest fan of the color, but thats not worth lowering the review to 4/5.. i mean its still a perfect controller!

  • Both a solid and economic buy!
    By A2JGVYTA5YAB8W on 2007-08-21
This controller is awesome! It solved all my problems with trying to fumble around on emulator games using my keypad. For $10, the price is right. If you are looking to play games on gametap or other emulator software, this is the perfect controller.

  • Quick and simple emulator controller
    By A16W7EC8C6DE7Q on 2007-09-08
If you are looking for something to play all of your SNES roms with, this is the controller, no question. I've been using it for a few weeks to play stuff like Chrono Trigger, or Yoshi's Island, and it feels and plays flawlessly. Highly Recommended.

  • looks sturdy, but it's not!
    By A187PLYUCV78Y9 on 2007-09-25
It seems like a standard playstation controller, other than the analogs right? WRONG! The dpad is real mushy and not too precise. The buttons are quite good though. If you are purchasing this for fighting games, you are making a huge mistake. The dpad broke after less than 2 weeks! If you got a PSX or PS2 controller, get a PS to PC converter, it's much better and cheaper.

  • Defective
    By A11P1E501HAQKB on 2007-11-15
The first controller we received was defective; two of the buttons didn't work. Amazon's customer service was wonderfully quick at sending a replacement. Unfortunately, the second one had the same problem. We ended up returning both and are waiting for a refund.

  • It does not work with iMac (Tiger)
    By A3FQOA5EY7VD97 on 2008-01-15
I have an iMac 10.4.11 (Tiger), I bought this item for my son. We installed this gamepad controller and it didn't work in any of the games that we have (Kickin'soccer, starwars (lego), call of duty). I got upset with it. Do not spend your time and money on it.

  • awesome
    By AZMMFF329QJ9W on 2008-02-20
i bought 3 of these; one for me and two for two of my friends. each one works great. The buttons are perfectly responsive and the D pad feels very similar to the old Nintendo/SuperNES/Sega controllers. Perfect controller for emulators. The only problem so far is that I cannot get it to work on any Mac emulators. I'm sure that this isn't a problem with the controller though. Anybody know how to make it work on a Mac??

  • It's precise. It's logical. It's the Logitech Precision.
    By AM4UVNWCW9NJE on 2008-03-01
You may need a hacksaw to free this PC gamepad from its prison of plastic packaging, but once you do you'll be delighted to find a well-constructed and user-friendly product. Just plug the cord on this attractive ultramarine blue controller into the USB slot on your computer (I'm using Windows XP) and start gaming. I bought this to play old-school games on GameTap and it works great. I've successfully used it with classics like Metal Slug; Prehistoric Isle; Captain Commando; Ghouls `N Ghosts; Vampire Savior; Colin McRae Rally; and Mutation Nation. Just click on "Edit Controllers," assign a button to each action and click "Apply."

The Logitech Precision is shaped exactly like a PlayStation controller, but without those little joystick things. It has a so-called "Advanced D-pad" on the left side, four round buttons on the right side and two small square buttons in between. Also, there are four additional buttons on the back. And each button is numbered for your convenience. This handy gaming gizmo sure beats having to fiddle with the arrow keys on your keyboard. Order yours today and get ready for some serious thumb-numbing fun!

  • Beware of bugs
    By A2E20TQHPD3WHT on 2008-06-22
i bought this controller to make gaming more fun, and was disappointed for two reasons.
    1. the "Blaster" or "Blow Stuff Up" type games i like really don't operate well with this controller. i should have purchased a Joystick, or a Gamepad. Lesson learned.
    2. THIS IS IMPORTANT: I BELIEVE THAT THIS GAMEPAD INFECTED MY COMPUTER. about a week or so after i plugged it in, my computer became noticeably SLOWER. i didn't know why, and it bothered me. i have two programs to protect my computer with no problems. then i heard a podcast interview of a government guy about Cyber Security. he noted an investigation into cheap digital picture frames made in China and sold all over this country. it seems that these picture frames, which rotated photos uploaded from your computer, were infected, no were actually MANUFACTURED, with a secret program which "took over" your computer and made it do things you never wanted them to do. like attack web-servers, or hack sensitive sites here or anywhere around the world. your computer becomes a "ZOMBIE", working in concert with thousands of other "zombie computers" to do malicious things. a slower computer was one of the warning signs. i had never heard of that, but it made sense. i removed the controller from my computer and will never use it again. i used my Windows Vista System Restore and haven't had any problems since. here's what i advise: beware any cheap gadgets made in china. think twice before you plug it in to your computer. i know china makes everything now, but if its a NEW product, and it hasn't been on the market long enough that i hasn't been thoroughly tested by others, and if its so cheap that its hard to see how anyone is making a good profit on it, except if the product has its own HIDDEN agenda, I WOULD STAY AWAY!!!

  • Meh... its alright.
    By A2NFLHENCYAXGD on 2006-01-23
What's with the "wingman" pic? I hate that sunk in d-pad. The one on the other pics looks alright though. Its got 2 L's and 2 R's, a start and select, and 4 action buttons, so its basically a PSX pad without the sticks. It looks very 'console' but alot of PC pad companies don't make stuff that lasts. If you really want console ruggedness on your PC, get a Lik-Sang adapter, download Joy2Key (its free) and dig any standard or aftermarket PS1 or PS2 pad out of your closet. You'll have a familiar controller, and loads of keyboard/mouse mapping options.

  • Great gamepad for the 8 and 16 bit games
    By A3EXIZUDLT9YZE on 2006-03-16
This is the third gamepad I've owned. The first two were not usb, but used the joystick interface on the back of the computer. Not a lot of slack left over when the computer is on the floor and to the side. Those gamepads were not as responsive as this one. I'm quite pleased with it. It was inexpensive and it's as responsive as my feeble old thumbs need. It works without an installation disk (at least in XP), it's comfortable, the cord is long enough, and it looks cool.
