  The built-in bag bit is fantastic, but the leash wasn't retracting properly almost from the get-go, and after getting some sand in the mix, it was almost useless.

  Well, this is the second Bags on Board retractable where the inner spring
  has broken, difficult to repair. The case is very sturdy and takes a beating
  when chasing fido down the sidewalk. We use the broken leash as straps on
  the luggage rack. I haven't tried another manufacturer.

  The locking mechanism doesn't work flawlessly. Sometimes it is sticky, requiring several tries to make it work. After some time, mine actually broke. I took it apart to see if I could fix it and found the sliding lock part has a relatively small plastic nipple that broke. Why didn't they make it out of tougher, unbreakable plastic?
  
  Otherwise the case is fairly sturdy. I've dropped mine several times and the dog ran some distance. Fewer scratch marks appeared on the case than I expected. And, the leash has been strong enough (as indicated on the container) to hold back my fairly strong, 50 pound dog . . . without any concern for breaking.

  I think it's a great price. The only thing that I'm concerned about is that sometimes the hold button doesn't catch right away. It's like when you catch a fish and he runs with it. This concerns me because my dog weights 90lbs and I'm a little nervous when cars go by that one time it might not hold.

  i have a chihuahua. and while it's nice to have a handy bag dispenser, it's much more than i really need. would be great if this item came in different sizes. i usually just clip a small plastic film cannister of sandwich bags onto my leash when i'm not using this one.

  I already had on dog reel lease for a chocolate lab so this was for my smaller mix-breed dog. I'm using one reel in each hand and find it quite good and relatively easy to do. I am concerned with a fraying of the pull cord about two feet from the snap end. The bags dispense pretty well but are sometimes hard to separate---especially while tending two dogs.

  I bought this based on positive reviews on here by people who claimed it lasted a long time with even destructive dogs. Since there's nothing more dangerous than a retractable leash that fails to work, I bought this 'oversized' leash rated for up to 110 lb. dogs for use with my new 20 lb. Basenji figuring that it should pretty much last forever. However, our second time out to the park yesterday, the stop button broke and let the leash extend to maximum... thank goodness we weren't anywhere near traffic.
  
  Honestly, with less than 2 hours of use by a 20 lb. dog before failure, I'd hate to imagine what would happen if you used this on a larger dog. What a piece of garbage. It's probably too much hassle to try and get my $17 dollars back to even be worth it. I'm not sure if all the positive reviews on here are real or not, but based on my experience... I kind of doubt it.

  When you add the bag compartment to a leash, it makes it bulkier than normal. But it is so so nice to have bags easily accessible. Good for the price.

  I liked the concept but the rewind broke within a couple weeks of receiving the product. With all the warnings about the hazards of the coiled spring I don't dare try to open the compartment. It feels like I wasted $17.99*

  Well this product is great. A lot more parks and places are forcing pet owners to clean up after their dogs, which I think they should and this leash is a very nice way of doing that. The bags are already there and makes it so much easier then trying to find a bag or stuffing them in your pock for future use. I highly recommend this leash for any dog owner.

  Love it! Love it! Love it! This leash totally outdoes the simple BOB attachment that you already have on your old leash. It's open on both sides so it's really easy to roll up the bags if the come unrolled, a problem that often happens when you have an anxious dog pulling at your leash. The grip is comfy and it still fits in my back pocket when walking off leash. Don't expect the hook to actually hold onto a bag though, maybe if you're standing still, but then what's the point?

  Purchased this one to replace an older one that finally broke. This one, the large one, is much sturdier than the last one... my dog is 60 pounds and the last one was not 'beefy' enough.
  
  These are the best, since they have the bags attached. I wish everyone would use one ... then they would at least 'clean up' after their pet.

  very handy that it holds the bags. tip - i got over 400 replacement bags for this on ebay for about $15. dont pay the high petco prices.

  We got this when our dog was a puppy. It's great. Yes, on occasion, the reel-in mechanism sticks, but we just rinse of the sand/dirt and we're good to go. We love the fact that the bags are already there, and we don't have to have something dangle off the leash or packed separately. I can't recommend this highly enough! we love it-
