Great price By A3LY7OIIWTV14F on 2005-06-08
The price as the time writing this review is $23 for 2 months, that gives you about $11.50 per month. The cheapest you can get from WoW official website is $12.99/month, only IF you pre-paid for 6 months.
So pre-paid for 2 months at $11.50/month vs pre-paid 6 months at $12.99/month, you do the math.
I had to say I was a little bit turn off by what Blizzard did to me few minutes ago, I posted on their forums the link to this Amazon deal, it was deleted in 3 minutes. I know they're trying to protect their monthly fee, but it's kind of childish and immature, IMO. Just let you guys know here, you're the judge.
Listen People, I'll tell you why WoW costs money.... By A17WUZZ6RPK117 on 2005-01-19
In order to run the servers which hold thousands of people at any given time takes up a ton of power & bandwidth and can hit the server pretty hard, while this also calls for maintence, it's not enough for Blizzard to keep the server free to everyone, so that is why (pretty much all) MMO (Massive Multiplayer Online) games have a monthly fee, its incredibly expensive to run these things all year round, your company would run into the ground if the servers were free. Plus Blizzard is always making new content FOR FREE to the addition of the game, like the recent 1.11 patch which has Naxxramas and in the future for 1.12 World PvP, so don't think you're just paying for the basics, you are paying for the long future of WoW.
World of Warcraft is a fantasic game for this genre and I'm willing to pay for it. For those who keep complaining, its not going to change, Blizzard still has other free games such as Warcraft 3 , Diablo II and Starcraft.
But as for the 60-day pre paid card, I like the option because some people may not want to use a credit card or go into thier accounts, or even younger people who don't have access to their banking account and only have allowences to purchase the game with. Literally every MMO has done this, so Blizzard continues with the tradition.
What the heck, Blizzard?!?!? By AUXRL7S73ACI4 on 2004-11-30
Ok...so upon getting my shiny copy of W.O.W. Collector's Edition...I find that to access my 30 Day "Free" trial, I have to have in my posession the 60 Day, 30 dollar Pre-Paid Game Card...? WHAT?!?!?! Sooooo...by wanting to not hand my credit card numbers over to Blizzard I have to pay for my "FREE" trial and am not eligible for any discounted rates like anyone using other payment methods can get (i.e. pay 6 months in advance with your credit card and only pay $12.99 per month total). Does anyone else think this is insanely stupid? I played the beta, bought the COLLECTOR'S edition, and am now being punished for not wanting to hand out a credit card number to another MMORPG. Sorry Blizzard, but you guys really dropped the ball on this one. Great game...bad financial department. Maybe you should rethink your payment schemes. Oh, and incidentally, as of me writing this, Pay Pal doesn't work, either...even though it should. It's good to know the game is bug free...too bad the payment options aren't.
Game is good, but you don't need to buy this pack By A32OUAS2HPSE9Y on 2005-04-05
WOW is a great game to play, but you don't need to buy this package. It is cheaper to pay online for the subscription.
Addictive By AOPOZNA0IOXV3 on 2005-09-13
This game is very addictive. There are many character selection each with different abilities/skills to learn. When venturing in a party, the dynamic changes with different people. Graphics are great.
I do NOT recommend this to students. You grades will go down because of the time it eats up.
BTW, I ordered the 60 days prepaid because I do not want to be locked into any long term agreement. You do need a break once in a while and 60 days is a bargain if you find the right price. Your character will be kept in storage during "breaks". Besides, if I subscribe online, there is TAX! Order the prepaid card by mail and avoid tax.
- What gives?
     By AOTLGDJZCCNVZ on 2005-01-15
The pre-paid 60 day game card costs $30 which is the same as the regular cost of 2 months(if u use a credit card) and YOU WONT HAVE TO PAY SHIPING COSTS if u just pay at home. So dont bother...
- Great way to pay for WoW
     By AHCVWPLA1O4X8 on 2006-06-09
Okay, this is pretty straightforward. By paying for WoW using these prepaid game cards you get the game cheaper than if you pay month to month using a credit card. On top of that you get the added security of not having to give your credit card info for your subscription. For parents of young people who play the game this is even better, ensuring that your personal information will stay hidden in case the account is hacked. And remember, these cards ship free if you buy over $25 worth, so keep that in mind. Overall this is just a great value, and a cheaper way to feed your MMORPG craving.
- World of Warcraft 60 Day Pre-Paid CD
     By A1EWQO0GSNNW0D on 2005-08-27
This is NOT a CD like the description read. It is only internet game server time to add to the game you are already supposed to have prior to purchasing this item. We assumed we were buying the actual game with a 60 day free period to connect and play online (since it was described as a CD). I was very unhappy with this purchase. My son, who was to receive the actual game for his birthday present, is the victim. I am still unhappy about that.
- Payment Method a Scam?
     By A1GQX35RFE3ZUZ on 2004-12-21
All over the world, where WOW is released the pre-paid cards (that you can supposedly buy from a shop) are not available until a month after release. This is forcing people to use the credit card method of payment which of course suits Blizzard to ensure a steady supply of $$$. Also, when you sign up, there is no info. on how you can stop the credit card debits. I suggest don't buy the game until the pre-paid cards are out.
- silly children.. mmorpgs are for gamers
     By AQOCGSZDGTXA9 on 2005-07-09
One thing people need to relize is that computer entertainment is an industry. People dont get payed to make games so that you can have fun, rather, they get payed to make games so that the corporation (blizz in this case) can make money off it. You cant expect to go to putt-putt and not pay extra to pay the bumper cars. They need gas, maintaining, tires, ect. this is the same principal that applies to the mmorpg pay as you go.Just think what your electric bill would be if you had enough servers to accomidate over 500k people..all their items.. all their info... ect. not to mention they have a team that gets payed to stay behind with wow and keep working on it even after its release. think of it this way...
YES you pay 50 dollers for world of warcraft...but it never stops growing..ever..
so that 15 dollers a month is not paying for the same game you already bought. think of it as paying for an expansion.
with that said i would also like to point out that if you are some kid mooching mommys money for the game and have a complaint because she is tired of paying for it, play on a t/p or i/p... i mean really. play with your freinds in your own connection.. dont pay extra..and enjoy the same thing over and over again once youve seen it all.
As for me .. I get bored far too easy.. that extra 15 you pay is what makes the game worth the 50 you payed in the first place..
after all.. you did buy wow because it is ever growing.. and ther will ALWAYS be somthing new to do.
- You'll spend a lot of time trying to get to the fun part
     By A1TLQOGN6IO8GI on 2006-08-28
This game takes time, a lot of time! It takes 350-700 hours to get to 60th lvl if your a pro, 700 hours to get your battle ground gear. It takes about 40 hours for each for the easy professions to get 300th level. Then it gets to be fun, you will need 20 and 40 equally commited players to help you work your way up thru the tier gear sets and other stuff you'll need to reenchant your gear after you replace it with the next step up. Unfortunately, each instance run takes maybe 5 hours and you will have a 1 in 20 or 1 in 40 chance to pickup that gear you need, so you'll be doing the instance runs over and over with those people. Typically the people doing well in the game are logged on 8-14 hours a every day.
At level 10 the quests become geared for multiple people. If you die while doing a quest, it doubles how long that quest is going to take do to the ghost walk back to you body. And if the quest was a difficult one, you may find yourself dead again as soon as you come back to life. Unfortunately the only help available is other players, not any bot like NPC's to help. Finding someone that is on the same sequence of quest you are on, at anytime one in the game isn't gonna happen. You'll see other players in the same area, but their doing a different quest, and usually won't even talk to you let alone help out.
Having your freind's play:
There a few problems with this. You need to create characters on the same server and in the same faction to play together. You also need to be the same level and have worked the same area's in the past. You'll even have to pick the same race if you new to the game. Basically the only way to quest with a freind is to start characters all at the same time and never play when the other isn't online. If one of you plays more than the other, the other can never catch up. The game doesn't allow high level characters to help lower level characters level up fast, like in Diablo.
There's way to much travel time in doing anyting. You have to travel time in real time City to city can be a 10 minitute flight of nothingness going on. Quests are repetitive. Area are repetitive. I've seen the same caves with different textures through the whole game.
PvP combat is ackward at best, the game wasn't made with it in mind. The hud/minimap is useless. Target selection is very difficult to manage, even with addons. The battle grounds have 10-40 people, but you can only target/watch 5 in your sub party. You going to have to click select the other targets to heal them. There's a limited number of macro's, which get used up quick when you start making "flag spot here" sayings.
After months of play, you starting noticing annoyances in the game that exsist only slow you down and keep you paying month to month. The 1-50 quest rewards for playing the game are insignificant and not entertaining, a movie or even a tada noise after 5 hours in a instance would be welcome addition. I find the in game community unfreindly, impatient and not very chatty unless their insulting each other. I keep playing the game knowing that it will get fun later on, but that point never comes. It's gotta be fun right? Everyone plays it. When does it get fun?
- Disappointed
     By A23IYW8CMEA52D on 2006-03-23
This card right now is higher priced after shipping ($26.45 + $6.25 = $32.70) than the monthly fee Blizzard is charging which is $14.99/month.
- 2 MONTHS !!!!
     By A1C5NG2AZ8LB4P on 2004-10-05
Wow 2 months for less than normal WOW= World of Warcraft
- Pre-Paid Card versus Subscription
     By A2SQFH1N7101O5 on 2005-06-08
Currently a subscription to WoW costs:
$15 a month on the per month plan, $14 a month on a 3 month plan, $12 a month on a 6 month plan, this 60 day prepaid at $23 (23% off on sale) works out to: $11.50 per month!
Other then being cheaper (at the moment) if you go with one of the extended (3 and 6 month plans) and decide to quit the game there is no refund for unspent time. On the 3 month plan you're going to be out $28 (for 2 months) at worst and on the 6 month plan you could be out $60 (for 5 months) if you quit in the month of the billing cycle.
So your costs are less, and so is your exposure. The only drawback is: you'll need to get another card in 60 days or sign up for the month to month plan while you wait for your next card to arrive.
It turns out, month to month is cheaper then anything, except the 60 day card, if you count money lost when you decide to quit the game but have a couple of months outstanding.
- No point in ordering if it costs the same as a sub...
     By A3VKFS6DONI00A on 2006-11-06
This has been a consistently good deal at 24.99 with the free super saver shipping by adding to an order or buying two. Now the price has gone up and honestly, theres no reason to get this if it isn't 25 or less. Adding time from the Blizzard website is instant for .01 more. Game cards were actually on sale for 19.99 locally and I stocked up. Maybe Amazon will follow suit.
- Industry: HA... I call them thieves
     By A2GNALLBWE7JN7 on 2005-08-06
Listen, I'm not sure how many people up to now have tried to justify WoW's excessive need of 15$ per month. They say it's for maintenance and the employement... but what I'm REAALLLYY unable to understand is that how GUILD WARS (not as great a game as WoW, I understand) is able to keep-up without punishing their players with a monthly fee of $15. For sure, it ain't as huge as WoW, but they could still surely make that same excuse of needing to maintain and (bla bla bla bla blaaaaaa....)
And if another excuse is that the inventors must be payed for their invention (which is obviously WoW), they're payed the lowest wage out of the whole group, just as the factory worker is payed in a factory!!! So I'm basically asking myself how such people have the nerve to defend this 15$ per month of which this company is making MILLIONS out of! I believe this is exploitation, and no other adjective could describe it. That is why game consoles like PS2 or X-Box have boomed the piracy community!! Only because they charge 60$ (Can) for a DVD that costs only about 50c at most. Greed leads to the black market...!
- Great game, but overpackaged game card
     By A18X10N7ZSKDYL on 2008-02-08
I love the game, World of Warcraft, and the fact that I can but gift cards for my friends, but come on... Who needs all of that packaging? It's completely useless! Why not just give someone a code that would work instantly, instead of pasting the plastic card onto a piece of paperboard, then putting it into a box, sealing it with stickers, then sealing that onto a piece of cardboard with plastic, wrapping it in another cardboard box, and shipping it all off to someone??? So much waste, when all it does is give someone the code on the back of the card. Completely useless, unless you are of the mind that packaging makes a good gift. I, however, am not. I prefer less trash and more fun. The code is all I need.
- Is Blizzard out of thier minds???
     By A3NEABHYCL9Y3N on 2005-01-11
Blizzard finally caved. I have been a HUGE fan of all the titles that Blizzard has released - until now. I have always admired how Blizzard has always offered free server access (Battlenet) once you have purchased their games. What gives??? I basically have to pay for the game every month that I play instead of buying the game once and for all. This is a major bummer for those of us on tight budgets. If this is a sign of future gaming practices - count me out.
- Shipping Problems
     By A1WQG255HRW8RB on 2006-04-13
I purchase these cards for my kids who are hooked on the game. However, buying these cards through Amazon is frustrating due to their extremely long shipping delays. I've ordered three of these cards so far and the first two (ordered months apart) took two weeks to arrive. My most recent purchase was on 2 April and it still hasn't arrived over 10 days later. It always takes at least 5 days just to ship from their warehouse, though their web-page says that it is in-stock and usually ships in 24 hours. The trackng number is never valid so you can't track it, and once it ships you have another 10 days before it arrives via USPS. Therefore, if you want to buy this card from Amazon, plan ahead.
- Great For the RPGamer.

- World of Warcraft 60 Day Pre-Paid Time Card
     By A38SJAGREC0I6A on 2006-07-31
I only wish they made cards for longer than 60 days so you didn't have to keep purchasing.
- DON'T GET RIPPED OFF
     By A34S7XQ5ZJ0BV4 on 2005-09-08
English/French game card are NOT COMPATIBLE. French version of the game need FRENCH prepaid cards. The online cost (with direct credit card payment throught Blizzard website) it's a much better deal, here is the prices (Sept. 8, 2005) : 1 months = 14,99$US / 17,91$CA 3 months = 41,99$US / 49,64$CA (16,55$CA/month) 6 months = 77,94$US / 92,14$CA (15,36$CA/month) So, if you take the 3 or 6 months package, you get a lot more for your money. World Of Warcraft prepaid cards are only good for gifts or for people who don't have access to credit card payment.
- Re: Clearing things up
     By A2ETC5RMGYUEMJ on 2005-09-02
Just wanted to clear up a few of your points that are false.
1. "In guild wars you start out in the world "alone". You are connected to a small server that allows you to chat but not interact (a lot like Battlenet)"
Thats not really true. You can interact with other people in any town. It is true that once you leave town, you are in an isolated environment and you can only interact with enemies and other players in your party.
2. "When you find a group from chatting one of the persons in the group acts as a host mini server. So really whoever makes guild wars doesn't have to pay heavy for huge servers since everyone is in mini games on their own servers."
Absolutely not true. At all times, whether in town or in an isolated zone, you are connected to the guild wars server, and the environment is hosted there. No single person is hosting for anyone else. If this were the case, then when that "host" disconnected, everyone else would as well. This doesn't happen. Guild wars has to pay for as big of servers as they need to serve all the players that are on at a given time. Argument invalid.
3. "So what does all this mean what can you do in WoW that u can't in GW?
Basicly you can't have everyone together at the same time and you can't "bump" into people while you quest, although this seems little it can really take out the fun of being in a huge interactive world seeing everybody instead of a find a group and have 4 other people quest w/ me in this huge world."
Indeed this is a potential shortcoming of Guild Wars that you dont have in WoW. There are plusses and minuses to being isolated when questing and doing missions though, so its really all up to preference
- Buy Game Cards at Amazon!

Buying 2 game cards and getting Free shipping is cheaper then paying for 4 months at $15/mo
- Worthless Card, Great Game!
     By A1YBJWESYNANTG on 2006-10-11
Amazon used to charge less which was a good deal and worth buying. Now the charge is the SAME as the monthly charge at WOW. This card is no longer worth buying. It doesn't save you money or time. I am very disappointed. (Rating is for the card!)
