Best Price: $45.00
Fleece is one of the most popular fabrics for cold weather protection because it insulates, dries quickly and requires little care. That's why Columbia Sportswear offers a broad collection of performance fleece fabrics that address every outdoor enthusiast's needs. Rugged looks combined with a soft and comfortable feel describes the Steens Mountain Sweater by Columbia Sportswear. The polyester MTR (Maximum Thermal Retention) fleece means it's easy to clean, quick drying, and pill resistant. All in all, a lightweight zip-front sweater that's designed to pack away in a corner of your suitcase for weekends or entire weeks in the snow and elements. With radial sleeves and a drawcord hem, you won't be afraid to give it your all on a snowboard or the slalom course. Layer it under a windbreaker for cool evening strolls. About Columbia Sportswear Founded in 1938, Columbia Sportswear Company has grown from a small family-owned hat distributor to one of the world's largest outerwear brands and the leading seller of ski-wear in the United States. Columbia's extensive product line includes a wide variety of outerwear, sportswear, rugged footwear and accessories. Columbia specializes in developing innovative products that are functional yet stylish and offer great value. Eighty-year-old matriarch Gert Boyle, Chairman of the Board, and her son, Tim Boyle, President and CEO, lead the company. Columbia's history starts with Gert's parents, Paul and Marie Lamfrom, when they fled Germany in 1937. They bought a small hat distributorship in Portland, Oregon, and named it Columbia Hat Company, after the river bordering the city. Soon frustrated by poor deliveries from suppliers, the Lamfroms decided to start manufacturing products themselves. In 1948, Gert married college sweetheart Neal Boyle, who joined the family business and later took the helm of the growing company. When Neal suddenly died of a heart attack in 1970, Gert enlisted help from Tim, then a college senior. After that, it wasn't long before business really started to take off. Columbia was one of the first companies to make jackets from waterproof/breathable fabric. They introduced the breakthrough technology called the Columbia Interchange System, in which a shell and liner combine for multiple wearing options. In the early 1980s, then 60-year-old Gert began her role as "Mother Boyle" in Columbia's successful and popular advertising campaign. The company went public in 1998 and moved into a new era as a world leader in the active outdoor apparel industry. Today, Columbia Sportswear employs more than 1,800 people around the world and distributes and sells products in more than 50 countries and to more than 12,000 retailers internationally.

great value By A21EP2X3WKZ2EA on 2006-02-18
This is a really nice jacket for $18. However, the sizing is huge. Columbia size small is similar to a size medium in most other brands.
Great Quality! By AQLXWK9YF2X66 on 2007-03-15
Great quality jacket. I purchased this for my husband and a similar product at a local Dept.Store for myself, My husband is still wearing his everyday, mine fell apart the first time I washed it. I would definitely recommend buying from Colmbia Sportswear!
And the color is .... ? By A1RRMZKOMZ2M7J on 2007-04-17
My husband really likes these, and I usually purchase them when I can. I picked one up for twenty-three, which is an OK price.
I chose the gremlin, which appears to be a gray color on my screen. However, it's really a forest green and not the color I would have chosen.
This is a really nice sweater By A2MOD50IHEDH3G on 2006-03-21
This is a great deal for $25. It is a little warm to wear in the house, but will help you survive outdoor temps as low as 40 degrees. The quality is really excellent, and I highly recommend this sweater from Columbia.
THESE JACKETS ARE THE BEST!!! ... By A16PFHPDKSJKOS on 2006-10-26
Dudes I love these Columbia Sportswear jackets! ... I must have like six of 'em in different colors ... They feel good (actually soft), loose fitting (ease of movement), and just the right warmth for my favorite time of year (Fall) ... Three things I really like about them is the draw cords at the bottom, the way the collars zip up to turtle neck to ward off wind, and the fact that my teenaged grands think their ole GrandDad looks cool in 'em '0)
- Comfortable and good looking
     By AUCDDVXWALDOB on 2007-01-12
Very comfortable, well built and good looking. Good value for money. It is warm, but it does let wind through though, so you need a shell over it if it is cold and windy outside.
- Well made jacket
     By A1S9LVOH82IDA4 on 2007-02-13
I have own Columbia clothing before but never a jacket. I bought this one because of the great price ($22.50) and I wanted something a little warmer than a windbreaker. Once it arrived I have worn this jacket about everyday. I live in the Bay Area where it is a little warmer than the East Coast and this jacket is just enough to keep you warm on a cool morning. This jacket is well made of very soft materials. I have worn it with jeans and casual dress. Highly recommended.
- Just Right
     By A3P9BGDDR3LFJD on 2007-04-06
This jacket was exactly what I was looking for - constructed with high quality workmanship and good materials, making it warm enough to wear on those brisk morning walks, yet lightweight enough to wear indoors or while shopping at the mall without overheating.
- Great Sweater.
     By A2WAGXFRREMY8G on 2007-08-28
This is a really comfortable and nice sweater. The size its huge, I will normally buy M size, but in this case the S size its almost the same as M.
- Great Quality, low price
     By A1CFWVKR0YWTMD on 2007-09-14
I bought one of these last year and wore it almost everyday. It still looks good after many washings and such so I just bought another one for this winter but in a different color. I saw other name brand sweaters for twice the price but can not believe they could be better than the Columbia brand. I would suggest buying early to get best color/size choice as they sell out fast.
- not happy
     By ANR1BXAODZFMO on 2007-01-26
It wa much too large and I returned it and am very disappointed that I had to pay postage for the return.
- Good Quaility Clothing
     By A37MBUOCHNKGZ1 on 2007-04-01
THIS IS A VERY GOOD FLEECE JACKET FOR THE PRICE. I ONCE PAID $117 FOR THE SAME QUALITY JACKET. THIS IS A BARGAIN COMPARED TO WHAT YOU WOULD PAY IN STORES.
- Warm!
     By A1OE8PVANUZWOA on 2007-02-17
This is without a doubt the warmest fleece that I have ever owned. The elastic on the wrists can get a bit tight, but that can be fixed with a few good stretches. I love this thing, and my wife 'borrows' it from me more than I wear it!
- Bargain
     By A3SKUMFUP6ZAQR on 2007-05-25
A columbia sweater for $21? that`s a bargain. And it is very useful, it lets your skin breathe and keeps you warm. Good looks and quality material, what else can you ask for in a sweater?
- Bad Fit - Bad Choice
     By A3X3FBKWR6YSU on 2007-11-13
Bad fit, but I like the Tusk color. I thought this was going to be a sweater. It's like a Hike Jacket. I'm 6'3" and normally don't require a tall size in extra large, but here I do. Then, an inside pocket is needed, since this really is a jacket. The zipper isn't lined up properly. That makes the fit even worse, when it's zipped up. I'll keep this one because I like the color and that's the only reason. I also ordered a grey, but it came with a broken zipper I couldn't get to zip. I returned it. This was a bad choice for me, since I'm taller, but I'll wear it around the house. It does provide warmth and I like the fleece feel.
- Warm, well made... Columbia
     By A2C264HY1HHZVX on 2007-12-10
Like most all of Columbia's products I've bought so far, this is another wonderful product. After buying the 3-in-1 parka jacket made by Columbia, I noticed I was wearing the inner lining (a fleece) for casual, everyday wear... Liking the fit, warmth of the lining, I went ahead and bought this product. Very warm, holds up wonderfully, available in a ton of different colors.

SOft and very well made, great garment for cool mornings walking the dog.
- Customer Service Run-Around
     By A3KE6B6ZW0ZOYS on 2007-02-11
The product was fine, but it took forever to receive my shipment, and did not come as promised even after talking with their customer service.
- $19.90 for a work jacket
     By AXO4PQU0XG3TG on 2007-06-15
I ordered these hoping they can be worn at work instead of dress sweaters that cost $9 to dry clean!
- amazingly warm fleece
     By A1LB7T22QLC7PG on 2007-10-25
I like all fleece coats but I have several Columbian jackets and they're better than any of the other fleece jackets I have. This was a perfect fleece to replace my old one.
- Great!
     By A2TVUWI5L0TOCZ on 2007-11-03
I purchased this jacket for my Dad for Christmas. He LOVES it! He wears it everywhere. The color has held up great, it looks awesome.
- Very nice........
     By A1ZWTNM9AFLYG5 on 2008-01-16
Ordered it for $26.00 and got the free shipping then it went on sale and received a $4.00 refund..... Item is very nice and comfortable. I like the fact that it is a FULL zip and not a pullover. The "intense red" color is not as vibrant as they say/show but that is not a problem for me. Easy to wear while driving and washes nicely....just remember that it is fleece and the collar points will curl up on you if you dry it too HIGH and too long........ best to air dry!!!!! all in all a 9/10
- Good, no. EXCELLENT, YES!
     By A3SLP45BY1QFAO on 2006-11-11
I LOVE this jacket to death. In fact, I'm going to order more of these. I've ordered the color Bruno and Black and I love wearing these. I purchased these for 21.90 and it was a bargain. I would definitely purchase this item! Feels so soft and the gals will be all over you when wearing one of these.
- On the bright side...
     By A3FPK5J1PKNIKL on 2007-01-18
The jacket was just what I was looking for, however the color was a little brighter than I thouhgt it would be.
- Columbia jacket
     By ASJGL3K5EP36H on 2007-02-27
The jacket was exactly as expected. The quality was what i expected from Columbia, the color chart was a little confusing, but was ok when received. It arrived within a few days, we were very satisified.
- Great fleece
     By A1BLQQEJ1TXVZ0 on 2007-12-08
I love the fleece I bought, the color too, all for a very good price.
- comfortable but not perfect
     By A2MCRKKPDDQR7E on 2007-01-10
I bought this kind of sweater in Oct. 2006, actually I bought two, one is black the other one is chrocoal. and they are really nice. It is comfortable if you use your hand to touch the cloth, I do like this kind of feel, my ex-girl friend, of course likes that 2.(that time she was not seperated to me).
But the problem is, it is not made of cotton. I hate to get statelectricity sometime especially in dry and wind-blowing winter.
- Comfy!
     By AWE98CMHS5NE5 on 2007-02-22
Great light weight jacket, super soft, nice just to throw on and go around town in. Girlfriend loves it...says I feel like a teddy bear. heh.
- Jacket/Sweater
     By A2H6NWK4V88TN5 on 2007-12-14
This was a birthday present for my son. He is very pleased with it. I had thought it was a jacket and sent it with this thought in mind. Then when I got this review I asked him about it. He said HE thought it was a jacket, too, and really liked it.
