  • A good way to store a large CD collection

    By A2U49LUUY4IKQQ on 2003-01-01
I have yet to find an ideal CD storage system, but this is better than most. It means you don't have to keep all those jewel cases. It is well-made and ideal for home storage. If you want to take your favorite CD's on your travels, you might prefer to buy a smaller version that will hold just enough CD's to keep you entertained while you are away from home. This case, when full, might be too heavy and bulky for travel convenience.

A major disadvantage is that it does not hold any of the paper so it is necessary to store the booklet and backing separately. Also, because the rings holding the wallets are sealed, you cannot rearrange the wallets as you expand your collection. This makes it difficult to organise your CD's so that they are easy to find. Everybody can find their way round that problem, but it would be handy to have rings that open like normal ring files.

I am still hoping that somebody will produce a really good storage system that caters for large CD collection at an affordable price. In the meantime, this will do.

  • Very well made, but CD sleeves are tight and dividers rough

    By A3NOBH42C7UI5M on 2004-05-28
I have this bag and just ordered another. It is really made well. The zipper is steel and I have no trouble opening and closing my year old bag and the handle is excellent. The pages are securely attached and I don't worry about them falling out when I carry the bag around even if it isn't zipped closed, or opening it on my lap. It opens easily and completely, even completely full. There is plenty of room to flip through all the pages to look through the book. There is even room in the very back of the bag to hold a couple of my CDs that I need to keep in the jewl case. I do have a bag by mainstays that I like better but they don't hold this many discs and the bags are hard to find anymore. The only things I don't like about this bag are the pockets that hold the CDs or DVDs are real tight so you have to slide the CD, on the rough service, in and out. I'm always concerned I'm going to scratch the disc. (The mainstays sleeves are larger with a flat that goes over the top of the CD to keep them from ever falling out so you don't have to slide the disc against the back service to get it in and out.) Also, the matterial that divides the CDs front to back, seem rough to me, instead of soft and protective, though I've never damaged a CD yet, but I worry about sliding my CDs in and out too often. I think it's a good buy and the bag is so well made that it makes up for the draw backs.

  • Excellent quality

    By on 2003-06-08
I've got several kinds of CD-Wallets from differing brands and this CASE LOGIC is by far the best quality. This is basically a sort of binder with large plastic bands that function as the "rings." These bands are quite sturdy and better than other CD-Wallets that I've used. The bands hold the pages of the CD-Wallet. Each of the 33 pages has 8 pockets (4 pockets on each side of a page). The pockets are made of a woven fiber material that is smooth and won't scratch CDs. Furthermore, the pockets can also fit liner notes. (While most liner notes should fit, thick ones maybe more difficult to insert because the pockets are rather tight.) A zipper on the outside of the wallet closes it neatly. There's also a handle on the outside for easy carrying. I bought this product to store my DVD-Rs and CD-Rs (which were cluttering my work space). It works great. CASE LOGIC tends to be a bit more expensive than other brands, but it's worth it. They're products tend to be consistenty strong and worry free, and this one is no exception. Other, cheaper brands are often made of cheap material; and fall apart with the shear weight of the CDs. If you plan on storing a lot of media (CDs, DVDs, CD-R, DVD-R), then this 264 capacity CASE LOGIC should be on the top of your shopping list. It's strong, can hold a lot of media, and you can carry it easily.

  • This large CD Wallet is excellent.

    By A15447PSN3C8ZP on 2003-10-03
There are cheaper brands out there, but in my experience, quality is the true measure of any product. This is especially true when it comes to large CD wallets like Case Logic's CDW-264. As you can imply by the name, this wallet stores up to 264 CDs. I've seen cheaper products that store about the same amount of media, but they aren't as sturdy as this one. This CD wallet uses 2 large plastic slats to hold the each of the 33 pages. (Each page holds 8 CDs.) Other large CD wallets often use flimsy binder-type plastic rings, or the pages are held to the wallet by stitching. Flimsy binder rings can break with age, and stitching can come apart when put under the weight of so many CDs. The CDW-264's flat plastic slats are large and strong enough withstand the wieght of 264 cds easily. I've filled it almost completely with CD-Rs, and it's still sturdy enough to carry by-the-handle (the handle is attached to the spine of the wallet). Even when unzipped, you could easily carry this large CD wallet around without fear of the pages breaking loose. And naturally, the CD pages are smooth and won't cause scratches. What's more, its a great online-buy because it's typically 10-20% less when compared to most retail stores. My only complaint is that the zipper can be difficult to "start" since it rests along the spine. This is where the zipper can make contact with the pages, and you often have to make sure it's clear before zipping the wallet closed. Of course, most people shouldn't find this much of a problem as the over all quality of the CDW-264 wallet is excellent. If you're looking to store a large amount of CD or DVD media, this is should be on the top of your list. It holds a lot of media, it's very sturdy, and it's usually much cheaper online.

  • Lots of room, but still room to improve

    By A2OUI0T52PTL on 2003-08-17
I have owned this CD "wallet" for about a year and a half now. I purchased it in anticipation of my little daughter discovering my CD tower and the impending destruction that would follow.

I chose this one because at the time it had the combination of the largest capacity and the best rating. My one complaint with this product is the weak zipper broke within a month. I have a small CD wallet that holds 20-30 CDs with a zipper three times as burly as the one that came on this.

I suppose the zipper is not truly an essential part of the product, but it could be improved GREATLY by simply upgrading this one thing.

  • No Liner Notes
    By A1HD7LE1K8J7ND on 2003-03-04
I bought this trying to replace an old off-brand CD Wallet that I purchased many years ago which has a nasty tendency to rip the paint off of the CDs (not too healthy for CDs). Case Logic's CD slots are very gentle on CDs and a that's one of the strong points of this product.

What renders this product useless is that it doesn't hold the liner notes (album covers). They just plain do not fit into the slots. I have an older model of this same case that works perfectly fine, but none of the dozen or so covers that I've tried fits into this newer model. Am I the only one who like to have album covers?!?!? I called and complained to Case Logic but they didn't have anything useful to say.

In conclusion, if you don't want your album covers with your CDs, this is a fine product, but if you do want album covers with CDs, find another product -- I'm still looking.

  • Removable pages!!
    By A3SMFN6KBLMQ86 on 2004-09-11
As all the other reviewers have stated Caselogic makes some of the sturdiest wallets out there, so I won't repeat whats already been said. But the new features that CaseLogic added to the 264 wallet put them a cut above the competition. The Fast-File 16-CD storage feature is a nice addition and makes use of under utilized real estate. It's a convenient place to put frequently used discs or stuff your manuals. But by far their greatest innovation is the Quick Lock Moveable Page System. No more moving an entire collection just to make room for a few new discs. Now move pages around in any order you want. Just unlock the spine and the pages come out in breeze. About time someone's come out with this. About the only thing I'd improve on this wallet is adding a back pocket and lowering the price.

I like most everything about this product. No problem inserting CD/DVDs into the pockets. I like the fact that the binder holds the pages securely while allowing you the option to open the binder to move pages around. My complaint is that CaseLogic does not allow you to purchase additional pages for this product. While they sell ProSleeves for standard 3-ring binders, they do not offer the sleeves for this CD Wallet. I contacted customer service, and they could only apologize for the inconvenience. The rationale escapes me since they are willing to sell generic sleeves.

  • Great Case
    By A3A7NKSBX5V8QB on 2002-02-05
I own the 256 CD verison of this case.

Works great with only a few CDs in it, half-full, or completely full (that's the way I have it right now).

256 CDs get heavy, so the handle is welcome. No problems with the zipper either.

    Very nice, indeed!

  • Bring back the three-ring binders!
    By A1S8FJT0AQSF60 on 2006-06-02
Case Logic cases used to have 3-ring binders. When you wanted to remove a page of discs, you just popped it open and put it into another binder wherever you wanted. Now, with their ridiculous EZ-lock system (or whatever the name is that some bozo in marketing made up), if you want to move a page, you have to remove ALL THE PAGES THAT COME BEFORE IT! And these aren't holes in the pages, these are SLITS! It's made organizing my collection a miserable activity.

And why did they make this change? Because it's undoubtedly cheaper to make a binding system out of plastic than it is out of metal. And by boasting about the new system, they further insult our intelligence by pretending that it's more desirable and functional than their previous system. It's not. It's better than a case in which you can't remove the pages at all, but that's about it. Case Logic cases are otherwise well made, but this one flaw/change, especially after they'd gotten us used to the three-ring binders, is infuriating.

  • Great Product
    By A14EBGV6P88N5Y on 2002-08-12
If you are looking for something that will hold a lot of CD's...like say 264 of them then this is the gizmo you need. It is good for CD's or even DVD's...but does not work very well for storing monkeys. The little guys keep crawling out when I'm not looking and then when one of the them finds the keys to the car...look out! But seriously, the monkeys should be free I guess but you try to manage 264 monkeys running around your house! Shizam!

  • Probably the best option for storing a large number of cds
    By A2V40DTEZLBNKD on 2005-01-28
When I was attempting to transport my 300+ cd collection 1000 miles to school, I went looking for the largest case available, and this was it.

Overall, it's a good case. The cds have been well protected. They don't scratch and the pages are tight enough that they don't slip out if stored upside down. The handle is really strong, and I've had no ripping even carrying the case entirely filled.

The one problem I have come across is with the zipper. I put a lot of heavy wear on this case recently, so for normal use it will probably be okay. But the zipper on my case has recently started to seperate from material, making it really difficult to zip up. For storage around my room, it is still wonderful, but it does make it a lot more difficult to travel with.

  • Able to tame my wife's extensive CD collection!
    By A3GCP2VSB4731D on 2005-08-11
I purchased several of these CD Wallets, with a view of helping to tame my wife's extensive CD collection. She was thrilled with the wallets -- she spent some time organizing everything, with wallets organized according to the type of music. The wallet has removable pages, so when she adds additional CDs, she can move them around as needed. Additionally, the wallet has an innovative smaller wallet, which fits inside the cover and holds enough music for a day around town. The wallet is well built, unlike some other cheaper ones. I recommend it!

  • Quality product
    By AQY9NPQPYRWZ0 on 2003-04-13
Case Logic large-capacity cd wallets are, in fact, the best ones for protecting your cd. I have 4*264 and 3*96 and carry my cds with me a lot, do not baby them and I've never lost a single cd inside a case logic.
On the other hand, ergonomics and features are not the strongest selling points. Zipper gets stuck often in the widest open position, pages do not slide very fast on hoops. There is no place to put notes/inserts/etc.

  • Great Product
    By A3UMCP3U2JW26O on 2002-08-27
This product is great and it is defiantly a good buy here at Amazon.com the only flaw that I see in it is that it is kinda hard to open and close and so you can not look through it while driving. Other then that and it being really plain it is great I would have given it a 4.5 rating but I could only give sold star ratings. If you are looking into CD Wallets/Books CaseLogic is totaly the best product I have ever seen for this. I would definatly recomend buying this product.

  • WOW THIS THING IS GREAT
    By A1JD2GXVKK2VCW on 2003-07-01
I am too happy with this CD case. This thing is very sturdy, and excellent quality. The best part of the case is that the CD's never fall out of the pockets like WOAH. Past CD cases have scratched my CD's up real good just by sitting in there, but no matter how many times i take a cd out and put it back in, NO SCRATCHES. i love this thing

  • Ideal for those who need space for 200+ discs
    By A21519P9B7ACHJ on 2004-06-06
This cd wallet is huge...I mean it fits 264 discs. It's very bulky, not very stylish but hey it does the job. It stores my entire DVD collection which is growing every week. It will take me a long time to fill up all the pages, but it'll be done soon.

The pages inside keep the discs well intact without falling out. Case is sturdy and the zipper quality is good. All in all a decent cd wallet.

  • A Decent Product
    By A2J83QK0QU7I50 on 2002-12-28
A decent product for the price. My only serious complaint is it's difficult to open and close. The zipper is mounted a bit too close to the spine and I had a very hard time opening it with one hand.

At first glance I didn't like the sleeves but found that they held the disc securely yet were easy to get a disc into and out of. The plastic of the sleeves seems a bit thin and might not hold up over the long term. The pages are permanently attached to two thick and heavy plastic straps that seem very strong. The handle on the spine that you'll use to lug the binder around is very strong and attached to the spine very securely.

  • By far the best!
    By A1EIYVVJ2ZYUUF on 2004-03-11
I currently have three of these cases, one slightly older, and I plan to purchase another.

The "binder rings" are probably the best feature as compared to other higher end portable storage units.

The only problem I had was CD-booklet storage as the sleeves are just wide enough to hold the CD edge to edge with very little expansion room for the booklet to fit; This does tend to hold the CD itself better so the trade is probably worth the difficulty.

My older unit holds my CD-Rom discs and has been accessed quite frequently with no sign of wear and the zipper is fine.

If you need portable, hideable mass storage for CD-media this unit is perfect.

  • Holy Giant CD Case Batman
    By A2R7P0E2UGJEGS on 2003-07-14
This thing's freaking huge! Seriously though, you can't tell from the picture, but it's like 4 inches think and probably 20 inches height and widthwise.

  • by far the best
    By A1JHQSXVFDDQ8V on 2004-05-18
i have had a number of cd cases and this is by far the best one i have bought. the binders have to be the best feature on this product, that and the 16 slots that are on the inside of the case as well. by the looks of the picture, you would never guess that this thing is HUGE. definatly worth the money however, if you're one of those types of people that need to have compact items then this isn't for you.

  • Great for SACD
    By A2Q34IYPAJNPF3 on 2004-12-07
Some one wrote a review claiming CDs are obsolete. Well they haven't listened to SACD or DVD audio. If you aren't particular how your "music" sounds then an i-plod will do just fine. But if you are a discerning listener the multi channel CD and DVD is the only option now. Anyway you can do a lot worse than the Case Logic Wallet, it is durable and won't mistreat your discs. Plus you can store a ton of discs in a space 1/8 of the area jewel cases would take up.

  • Pro-Junk - Sleeves scratches CD/DVD coating.
    By A17ZYKAI7G7MZZ on 2005-03-27
Pro-Junk should be more like it. The Pro-Sleeve damaged my Season 1 DVD of the X-Files with careful insertion and removal. WARNING AND CAUTION to those who buy this, try it in a retail store first with a blank CD-R/DVD-R and judge for yourself.

Your better off storing your CD/DVD's in Dupont Tyvek Sleeves (with no flaps that could cause abrasion.)

  • great case
    By A2CQR3593DJO3F on 2005-07-19
This CD case is great, it holds CD's easily and even comes with a detachable car CD carrier. Pages are detachable if you want to rearrange things. If there were a little more space for the CD so that the CD and the case cover would fit it'd be perfect, however I understand that most people don't do this.

  • Low quality product
    By A2FT2CWN9DX9EE on 2006-08-06
I have a 50 disk case logic wallet I got a few years ago and it is fairly sturdy. This thing just seems more flimsy to me. The case itself seems weak and the dvd pockets are made of a very thin plastic. My old one seems like a much better item.

  • very nice
    By A28GA9IEUV70U1 on 2005-08-21
I like the construction of this case. It's a little pricey but if you can get this on sale, it's worth it. Looks nice too.

  • Case Logic 280
    By A31DU01JO68TLQ on 2007-01-10
The product is well made but not as exceptional as the reviews I read would lead me to believe. My fault, I thought it would be great to have so many CDs in one place, but the truth is that 280 discs are heavy and the pages do not handle the weight idealy. You also have to have a large enough open surface to open it up on. I would opt for more "wallets" of a smaller size for my future storage needs.

  • I HATE IT!!
    By A2EXGR33SHRHA1 on 2007-01-29
anytime you put new cd sleeves in, they have to go on top of the filled ones. the cds always slip out. the plastic is way to slippery that if it is unzipped, the pages slide out the sides. i absolutely hate it.

  • Sterling from Oceanside
    By A2835G034LKUEX on 2002-11-23
I had a cd rack and orange slim cases from Costco, when I realized it was to messy, so I ordered a Case Logic CDW-264 CD Wallet and now everything is neat and sorted. High quality nylon, highley recommended by me, the tech geek of Oceanside

  • an case to hold an obsolete product
    By AMHL59GYIKYWT on 2004-12-04
don't spend another $25 to hold all your cd-s. if you really love music (and i assume that anyone is thinking about buying a 264 disc cd case does) then you should get an ipod. yes, you will have to pay more, but it's SO worth it. you would be able to fit all the cd's that would fit into this gigantic case on a 20gb ipod which weighs just six ounces. (you don't have to download from iTunes! you can just copy the cd's you already have onto your computer and then download the songs saved on your computer to your ipod, all using the most simple software you've ever used. if you can use microsoft word, you will be able to use iTunes.)

even if you don't want to listen to your music on just headphones, you have plenty of options. you can buy an fm transmitter (which plugs into your ipod and transmits the music to a slot on the radio that isn't being used.) although the sound quality will be lower, it's completely wireless. other options include cassete adapters (which work similarly, but have a wire) and also connecting directly to your car stereo, which can most likely be done at your local car dealership. for bmw owners, your car may be compatible with even more features, such as controlling your ipod from your steering wheel controls, etc.
for home stereos, you can buy a y-audio cable that goes from the headphone jack of your ipod to two outlets in the back of pretty much every stereo out there.

in 2004, there is really no reason to be lugging around a giant cd binder.
