piece of junk By A1OBM5MTFO19QH on 2005-02-05
I purchased this at Wal Mart and within 6 months it was broken. The plastic is weak and the gismo that turns the frequently get fan gets stuck. The final time trying to straighten it caused a crack and the thing is worthless. Another made in China product gone to the trash.
Nice while it lasted... By A3AS4U168C6JJ3 on 2007-03-26
As with the reviewer above, I purchased this fan from another store and it worked well at first. The remote was a nice touch and the fan speeds and settings worked well. However within 4 months of owning it, when we tried to have it rotate, it turns slightly, gets stuck, and proceeds to just make a clicking sound until you stop it from rotating. Needless to say it no longer rotates, so it is now just a stationary fan. I even tried taking it apart to unjam it, but came to discover that the rotating gear was already worn down and that was the problem, so without new parts it could not be fixed. Buy another fan if you want it to last, I know I am.
Saved from the hot spell By A20IQPHVIHSIQU on 2007-05-04
When it came time to turn my neighbor on to this fan I was distressed to read the two reviews that were already published (both from purchasers who obtained theirs from other stores?). Last year I purchased two of these for my apartment in San Diego . . . and then the longest, hottest two weeks that we have seen in years hit. These two were operating 24/7, moved around a lot, etc. and worked flawlessly. They never got put away and I have used them to circulate air during the Winter as well and they are still cooking along flawlessly. That's not one, but two, and they work and last great!
Good While it Lasts... By A2OCPDN5GF1ZG9 on 2007-05-07
I received a model just like this as a gift last summer and it worked great. However, one day towards the end of summer it totally died on me. I didn't have a receipt to return it to the store, so I contacted Lasko. All they could do is tell me to blow into the fan with canned air to clean it out. It didn't work and I was out of luck because I didn't have a receipt. They would not honor the one-year warranty without a receipt, even though I'm sure they could determine the date it was made via the serial number. If you buy this, definitely hang on to your receipt.
Most Quiet Tower Fan By A26GDZVPK3OB0C on 2007-10-10
We purchased a Honeywell Tower Fan and this Lasko fan. We use the Lasko in the bedroom. What a difference it is from a box fan. It is very very quiet. The sleep setting is perfect because you can choose how long to have it running after you go to bed. Even if we keep it on all night, I wake up in the morning not feeling like I've listening to a fan roar all night long. We can't use it on ocillate - it makes a sound when it goes back and forth. Even so, it still gives us both (and 2 dogs!) plenty of direct air flow without the ocillation feature. I JUST bought another for my office.

I ordered the lasko fan and it came in six days. Although there were some adverse comments about the fan on the seller's site, I ordered it anyway. I have used it only for a month, but so far, it has worked great. It has saved using our window air conditioner numerous times.

I bought this item for my dorm room. So far I haven't been able to use it there for school doesnt start back for another 20 days but for the last month it has been a nice addition to my bed room at home. I run it every day and so far it hasnt let me down. For a girl it was a new experience to assemble the stand, but I got it done. I was surprised at how easy the assembling was!

We picked up this model early last fall at an end-of-season clearance sale. It has worked perfectly as a staionary and as an oscillating fan. This fan has defintely earned its keep this long, hot summer, and I'm picking up another one for additional cooling throughout the house next summer. Highly recommended.
- Decent product and good value.

I was disappointed to see the day after I purchased this, it went down almost 20.00. I called Amazon and they made it right and gave me the difference quite promptly. Now back to the product; this fan works excellent and cools even big areas. I love the remote control feature with timer as well. I plan to purchase another soon.
- A great fan!

The fan is quiet, works well and is unobtrusive. We particularly love the small footprint. A remote's even included, though we have no need.
- Perfect combination of size and performance

We got this fan for my wife's "snuggery," a converted porch that's long and narrow, and has a window AC at the far end. Even with a ceiling fan, the place gets warm in the summer sun (the unshaded end of the house, for sure), and the AC is too far away to really help much. The fan takes up so little space that we can place it midway from the AC to the loveseat where she sits to knit and watch TV, and the cooling effect is pronounced, all without giving up much space (or sacrificing another window to an AC).
It's perfect for what it's made for, quiet, efficient, and small in footprint. We like it a lot.

- bang for ur buck

this was the cheapest 40 inch fan I could find, when it arrived, the packaging weren't all that great, nor is the actual fan housing/base itself, but the fan works very well, nice n soft breeze, timer control and everything
- A good product that needs some tweaking

I am enjoying the Lasko Wind Tower. It is quiet and moves air quite well in a medium sized room. It would be even nicer if it had a little larger turn radius. My wife complains about the loud high pitched on/off button and that it hurts her ears but I don't find it that bad. The beepers at McDonald's are louder than that. I would buy another if I needed an additional unit.
- Good Buy.

Never had a tower fan before, but this was a treat to buy for the summer. The first one arrived damaged from shipping and the manufacturer stated that it is unusual for that to happen during shipping. Got my replacement in four days in great shape.
The fan is quiet for the most part, but can make a clicking noise when you first start it but quickly goes away. No noise on oscillation. Stirs the air enough to feel it across the room even on a low setting. This is great for an apartment, dorm or office.
Does not come with the 2 AAA batteries needed for the remote, but my apartment is small enough for me to easily walk over to it so I don't mind.
