Winchester 22-01347 Small Wood Handle Toolx$7.15
    (13 reviews)
Best Price: $7.15
Small Wood Multi-Tool made of surgical stainless steel with wood inlays. 12 Features in one. Sheath included. Packed with ten handy implements, the Winchester multi-tool from Gerber slices oranges, drives screws, cuts wires, clamps down on work pieces, and opens refreshments on the fly. The Winchester is constructed of surgical stainless steel for optimal durability and corrosion resistance. Handsomely-stained, wood handles smack of heirloom quality and are ergonomically designed to ensure comfort and control. Implements snap crisply into place for steadfast performance and safety. Now for the guts: The tool’s stainless steel needle nose pliers are precisely forged with jaws perfectly aligned, so their full surface areas make contact with work pieces offering optimal gripping power. The pliers have integrated wire cutters for flush cuts through a wide variety of gauges. A fine-edge blade with a pinpoint tip, uncommon in most multi-tools, ensures long-lasting sharpness and is great for detailed cutting applications. Where most multi-tool drivers tend to loosen up over time, the Winchester’s cross-head screwdriver stands up to plenty of torque for driving larger screws. A medium-size, flathead screwdriver with bottle opener easily cracks open refreshments on the go. As though these fine implements weren’t enough, the Winchester also includes: a serrated knife, a large flat head screwdriver, a can opener, a small flat head screwdriver, and an awl with a file—an impressive array that’d normally require packing along a second multi-tool, but one that’s organized and easily accessible with this single, lightweight unit. --Brian D. Nice pliers, poor other tools. Good looking By A1TXRF98SLKL2O on 2005-11-26
I got this tool for free with another (Gerber) multi-tool. I would not buy this tool for much money.
If you want a folding pair of small needle-nose pliers, this is a pretty good choice. The motion is smooth, the machining is fairly precise, and the spring-loaded action is really handy. The pliers are indeed small; they are suitable for items no more than 1/4 inch (8mm) wide. The handles are an adequate 2.5 inches long, and while they are not quite level with one another, it's no big deal. Pliers feel quite strong, with minimal flexing.
The large straight screwdriver is poorly made, with a rounded-off instead of perfectly straight shape. The can and bottle openers are abnormally shallow. The serrated blade is very thick but not very sharp. The straight blade is tiny and not sharp. The cross-head screwdriver is tiny, like a sub-#1 Philips but more vaguely shaped. The nail file looks and feels like a student project. In short, none of the fold-out tools is of a quality to match the pliers and handles -- they say "made by the lowest bidder in China".
The wood accents on the handles are attractive and feel good, but they do make the handles surpringly thick -- about 18mm at the thickest point.
For the pliers and appearance, I would give 4 stars. For the other built-in tools, I would give 1 star (a failing grade).
Simply put... By A2EAK08LRX8JLK on 2006-04-11
...I ended up purchasing a total of 5 of these. It's something to carry around in my pocket, not for major surgery. And the other 4 people that I passed them on to enjoy owning theirs, too. At under $5.00, I think it was a fantastic purchase.
Winchester 22-41347 Small Wood Tool By A2QI375CDTKRXC on 2006-04-05
Well, it all depends what you paid for this tool. I got it from Amazon for $4.20, free shipping. And for me the price/quality ratio is just fine. My screwdrivers are OK, pliers are fine for a small tool. The only complaint is that knife is not easy to open sometimes, but it is because my nail is very short. I also like the belt holster, the total size and weight of this tool is just right for me to have it on it the whole day at work. Sure, for $15 I would go with a Gerber tool. But for the money it works for me.
Handy and Well Made By AE4KKWFWJQ0PV on 2006-12-03
For the price a great deal. All the tools I found to be functional, especially the pliers. My son and daughter have many piercings and the pliers really come in handy changing them. This is a compact tool with a nice pouch that never seems to get in the way. I bought one for myself and ended up going back for 10 more as presents. So far I have had only positive comments from the recipients.
Nice knockoff By A2FVD05Z2FYW1P on 2007-01-09
This turned out to be a great knockoff of the leatherman/swiss army knife type of thing, for a really great price. I'd buy more.
- Beautifully crafted

Ugh, you're thinking, not another darn Leatherman-type tool. Ah, but this one is truly gorgeous. The wood handle makes it a great executive gift. It's very well made and looks quite rich, but won't break the bank.
- Great Tool for the Price!
     By A3G5ZEFHYJOINH on 2007-01-18
I recently bought 33 of these tools. I'm climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro in early Feb, and plan to use the tools for gifts to our porters. I was looking for a small, high quality, inexpensive gift, that a African can use. Looking forward to presenting them!
- Tiny!
     By AAK8MSLH2ANDZ on 2007-09-21
This seems like a decent tool, bought it as a gift. It is a LOT smaller than I figured it'd be though.
- Not the best, but does a fine job

The greatest assets of this little tool are three-fold: small size, decent pliers, and good grips. Consider carrying one on your outings.
I concur with another reviewer who did not like most of the tools that are nested in the handle. I'll state it this way: they work, but they're nothing spectacular. But I don't mind that--and neither will you if you keep one thing in mind: it's not an everyday tool--it's a JUST IN CASE tool.
I always carry a nice pocket knife, so this tool is with me for those other odd needs--a pliers to help remove the Rapala that got hooked in the back of a head (true story!), the mini phillips head screwdriver to remove a miniscule screw from a battery cover, the can opener (in a pinch). Overall, if you carry it for those "just in case" moments, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
If you would rather carry only a multi-tool as your sole blade and tool in the wilderness, you will want to buy a higher-end model. Otherwise, this is a fine item to carry along. I've given them as gifts to a number of teens who canoe or fish with me (especially the lad who hooked his head), and they've been well received and used regularly.
- Handy little tool

This is a handy tool that is small but has a lot of features that the more expensive stuff has. Again great for travel.
