  • Perfect Small Room Heater!

    By A1ZV7WALPB92CL on 2006-10-15
I bought this heater after seeing how highly rated it is- and you guys were right! This is the best little heater ever. I bought it to keep me warm in the bathroom (I have one of those awful new house designs where the master bathroom is completely open to the master bedroom.) It works great. Gets very hot or just warm thanks to the dial. The only down side is that there is no off switch- but it is just as easy to pull the cord out of the wall as it is to turn a switch off! Portable and can be taken from room to room in one hand.

  • Great Heater for Office or Bath Room!

    By A2162LF84TJDAQ on 2006-09-30
I love this heater. I use it all the time at work and it keeps me warm and toasty. I love that it has a dial so that if you get too hot you can turn it down. It heats up super quick and turns itself on and off to keep the right temperature. Its nice and small and has a nice look to it too. I like it so much that I'm buying another one to keep my bathroom warm for when I take showers. Oh, and for the people that say there is no on/off switch, you just turn the dial all the way down to turn it off. The light stays on, but the heater will not come on if you have the dial all the way down. Trust me, I have it plugged in at work all the time.

  • Chose another brand

    By A2HM7XVOGMX10Z on 2007-01-11
    1. When I open the box. Found there is a loose screw in the heater.
Meaning the product quality control has problem.
    2. There is no handle to hold the heater.
    3. There is no second heat temperature selection.

  • ultra portable, fast heat !!

    By A233DNRHBZVKWI on 2006-09-30
We ordered it urgently since our living room was getting cooler.
-The HoneyWell heater is light and portable, it can be conveniently moved to different rooms.
-It's good for heating small room and perfect for heating up a cozy corner when you are reading a book.
-However the temperature dial is not calibrated (in C/F)
-It heats up ultra-fast. The iron-mesh get very hot & can be a hazard for kids.
    -Little loud
-Perfect for wifes/husband who feel cold even in a heated room

  • 3 Honeywells, 3 horrible experiences

    By A387TZRZLK8A8 on 2006-11-28
This heater was the best of my 3 experiences with Honeywell. The heater actually worked for almost a year before dying. Below is my review of my Honeywell experiences:

    Honeywell HZ2800BW Turbo Heater Fan
Enough is enough. I bought this heater and it failed within two weeks. When it fails, the light will come on but neither the heating element or the fan will work. Thankfully Amazon is awesome at returning products and they had another one in the mail before I even put this one in the mail to ship it back. The new one arrived and it ran for about a month before stopping. When it failed it failed in the same way as the first one. Since it was Spring, I just threw it away and took the loss.

Convinced that it must have just been a defective model of Honeywell, I ordered the HZ-315 Quick Heat Ceramic Heater. This one actually worked for almost one whole year before dying last night in the exact way the other two did. The moral to the story is this: Honeywell heaters are garbage. Unfortunately, I begin this whole Honeywell nightmare only after my Holmes heater died after 5+ years of it running night and day during the winter. SPEND THE EXTRA FEW DOLLARS AND BUY QUALITY WHICH IS NOT HONEYWELL.

  • You get what you pay for
    By A1636L9WAKK2D6 on 2007-05-12
I'm basically happy with this space heater.

    Pros: Cheap and it works.

Cons: It's loud and it turns on intermittently according to your thermostat setting so it's constantly: OFF (quite) - ON (loud) - OFF (quiet) - ON (loud) ... etc and so it can be a little annoying if you don't have any other background noise going on.

  • Awesome little heater! Works like a charm!
    By A3B4T4YD12U1R8 on 2006-10-24
This is the perfect little heater and I know space heaters as I own about 3 of them already. I use this one at work. We aren't supposted to have space heaters but it is soooo cold at work that I would be absolutely miserable without it. Because of the size, it's easy for me to keep this one out of sight. I keep it plugged in to its own surge protecting power strip so it doesn't ever disturb the other computers in the area. When I leave for the day, I can lock it up in one of my filing cabinets. I can't say enough good things about it. I love the thermostat feature, if I get too warm, it's easy to turn down. I just ordered a second one for my bathroom. If you need a tiny space heater that really warms you up, then this is the one!

  • Dissapointing... Worst is the noise
    By A9HU5MUJISVWL on 2006-01-16
The unit is disappointing in that it sells at approx. $30 and provides only one speed and a very unreliable (basically not functioning) thermostat. It also creates much more noise than other similar units I have seen. Over all I would recommend a different buy. It got two stars because like any other comparable heater, it heats a medium room quite fast.

  • Morning Delight on a Cold Winter's Day
    By A3KKM0T1KY42HA on 2008-01-16
C'mere, baby. Put me right there. Yeah, that's it. Now plug me in. Oooo you can fell my warmth right away, can't you, baby? Turn it up a little...my button's right there. Higher. Higher. Yes. Yes. Yes!

Yep, that's me and my Honeywell HZ-315 Quick Heat Ceramic Heater almost every day this winter. After I get my Honeywell started, I take a nice hot shower. She waits for me in the bathroom in a safe place away from the water; she hates water. She'd fry me if I got her...um...wet.

Truth be told, it is indeed my bathroom exclusively where I like to use the Honeywell HZ-315 Quick Heat Ceramic Heater. And she lives up to her name: "Quick Heat." I have a pretty big bathroom, but the house's heating rails are on one side of the bathroom, and the shower and the "his" sink/vanity are on the other. So it gets a wee bit chilly on my side of the bathroom in the mornings. Not a problem anymore.

I just get the Honeywell HZ-315 going before my shower, and she takes goooood care of me when I get out. Seriously though...keep her where she won't get wet and don't forget to shut her down immediately after use, and she won't burn ya.

I always unplug too as soon as I'm done. She cools down immediately, in fact she never gets too hot while in use...well, maybe the front a little bit.

So don't you wish you were hot like me? You know you want it now. Put this Honey in your cart.

  • Keeps my office warm and comfy
    By A19CLQ7RMQKJDH on 2006-01-30
I purchased this heater to add a little heat to my office, which luckily for me has a window, but unluckily for me, also has a draft. I've been very happy with the results! The built-in thermostat keeps the office at a steady temperature, which is perfect. It doesn't take up much space, which is also a bonus. Downsides: There is no off-switch, so I have to unplug it at the end of the day. That's not so great, because occasionally I forget if the blower is not actively running when I'm getting ready to leave. The noise level from the machine is reasonable, though certainly not silent. In summary, this model perfectly meets my needs. For the price and convenience, it is worth tolerating the minor downsides. And it was affordable. I'd definitely purchase this model again.
Update 11/26/06: I said I'd purchase this again, and now that I have a new drafty bedroom, I have just ordered this product again. I anxiously await its arrival this week.

  • Perfection
    By A2OBA7YKU07DPN on 2006-02-09
I bought this heater for our upstairs bathroom that we really don't use except for showers and baths. We closed off the heat in that room and wanted something that would heat up fast and be able to keep us warm this winter while taking our showers. It was wonderful! It even had a frost watch feature on it so I bought one (at Wally World) for my dad who has troubles with his upstairs pipes freezing. I bought this on a Friday sale and was glad I did, but if I needed another one this is the exact one I would get - it's small but it is mighty!

  • Fast, compact heat
    By A1IU7S4HCK1XK0 on 2006-09-23
This is a very compact heater that we use to either heat up under a chilly desk in the basement, or move into the bathroom for removing excess moisture on a cool day when the house heat isn't turned on.

It goes up to the camping cabin, down to the shore, to the office, and is easy to carry. The appearance is nice; white and clean. It heats up quickly. The price is reasonable.

  • The mouse that roared
    By A2CRZD2HMPFUEG on 2007-01-04
I have never had an electric heater before so I wasn't sure what to expect. Especially when I heard so many horror stories about electric heaters starting home fires. However, I wanted a small heater to use on my legs and feet when I am sitting at my computer. Being that the heater is a Honeywell, I figued I couldn't gone wrong with it and I bought it on sale so the price was cheap.
I can not raved highly enough about this heater. It is so small and yet it heats up my whole bedroom, which I was not expecting. I can pick it up and take it to any room or place where I need it. It truely is the mouse that roared.
When I read others who reviewed this heater, their biggest complaint was that there is no off and on switch. This is true. But, I wouldn't want to leave it plugged in when I am not using it anyway...just to be on the safe side. Buy it you won't regret it.

  • Great Little Heater
    By A1SB8CXAUIKT8X on 2006-01-06
This Honeywell ceramic heater is by far the fastest heating ceramic I own. Heat output is very good and the fan is powerful enough to distribute the heat out into the room, unlike most ceramic heaters.
The only negative is the fan is a little noisy.
Great heater and highly recommended for heating bedrooms, bathrooms and other small rooms.

  • Great little heater!
    By A3MCTPQ6Y9NIMK on 2007-01-04
I use this heater in my 26' RV. I use it when we are at a campground or RV park that has electrical hookups so that I don't have to run the propane furnace. The furnace is so loud it will wake me at night, but this little heater is pretty much silent.

The thermostat works great! It allows me to keep the interior of the RV at about 40-45 degrees in the winter to avoid condensation and freezing. Fortunately, my RV is well insulated (for an RV), so it doesn't have to run very often.

I also use the heater to put a load on my backup generator (for the house). Every month, I start the generator, let it warm up, then plug in the heater and turn it on. This puts a nice load on it, which is what you are supposed to do when you excercise a generator.

We have been using this heater for about four years and have had absolutely no problems with it. Someone mentioned that there is no on/off switch, but if you turn the thermostat knob all the way down, it turns the heater off completely.

  • Good space heater
    By A1AP9L5OF4WDCP on 2007-01-09
The heater is quite good. My only complaint is that there is no real temperature control. It has an ON-OFF control. Whenever it is ON, it blasts the full heat. The ON period can be controlled (probably also the fan speed), nothing else. However, for its price, it is a good piece.

  • Not a good or even a safe product
    By A2JR2L1XGC2JCP on 2007-06-27
The first time we used the space heater it lasted for maybe an hour before something blew and some sparks flew out and blackened the front of it. I would NEVER order this product again.

  • Great little heater
    By A1WF0YWM89I74M on 2007-03-08
I use this heater to heat our sun porch turing the spring and fall, as well as take the chill out of the basement for my morning workouts during the winter - it does a great job, although it is kinda small. If you need to warm up a room-sized area (I'd say up to 16 x 16), this is a wonderful, reasonably priced unit.

  • Great little heater
    By ASRLVNXNEK5T8 on 2007-07-13
Nice little heater for the price. I use it at work where the a/c is always set too low ! It provides instant heat and is theromostatically controlled so it shuts off when it reaches the desired temperature.

  • Little heater.
    By A1ON1R3HYCLTE2 on 2007-01-10
The heater is much smaller than what I expected, but it really heat the room efficiently. And it has a good price which is easy to see. However, it causes a little bit noise and electricity unstable (1500W) while working.

  • Good, efficient heater, but a little noisy
    By A1YUZ5R5IHL77P on 2007-02-10
I bought this heater for my office, which being in an old turn-of-the-century building tends to have a hard time staying warm in Winter. I've got a few Honeywell air purifiers at home working, so I stuck with this manufacturer for this purchase. I'm glad I did. PROS: it heats my office (10x15) quickly and maintains the desired temperature; controls are easy to use; it's small and easily placed out of the way. CONS: the fan is a little noisy; wish it came in black like most of the other appliances and items in my office. I'd recommend this little space heater for anyone with similiar needs.

  • Good for limited use in strategic places.
    By A11ED8O95W2103 on 2008-01-04
Note: Since writing the review below I've returned this heater for a refund. I noticed other small ceramic space heaters had low settings, on/off switches, and carry handles built in, and I wanted a "do over". So there; I 'fessed up. I can't change the star rating or I would and I'd make it lower.

First of all, at the twenty dollar price point one should not expect to obtain the last word in space heaters. You do get what you pay for, and what I got is exactly what I wanted for my particular use.

What I wanted was an auxilliary heater for my office which is in the lower level of a house that has the thermostat on the upper level. Sometimes the office gets a bit of a chill before the main furnace decides it needs to turn on, so this little heater makes up for when the main isn't coming on and I'm starting to shiver downstairs.

Now, I could just put on a sweater, but then the main furnace comes on and I'm taking off the sweater; then I'm putting it on, then taking it off, etc. all night. Nope, I needed a cheap auxilliary space heater.

I decided I didn't want anything with bright glowy orange wire in it (that's so 20th century) so I went with a ceramic heater. I don't need an oscillating heater (since when does a heater need to oscillate? I need to be warm, not have hot air blown on my body), just a little extra heat when I need it.

So, I bought this heater and followed the safety instructions. Now it sits there and turns on just for a few seconds at a time to provide that additional little amount of heat I need to even out the temperature fluctuations down here. If it just gets me through the rest of the winter, I'll be happy (or at least not mad). It beats going upstairs and pumping up the thermostat and heating the whole house several degrees just so I can use a little part of it.

Sure, the fan is a bit loud, but it's twenty bucks and it pumps out a lot of heat for it's size.

Of course, I unplug it when I'm away. I would never leave a cheap heater on it's own when I'm not around no matter how safe the manufacturer says it is.

So far so good, and so warm. If anything changes I'll update this review.

Postscript: I agree that the lack of a "low" setting is a design flaw. This thing draws 12 amps (1500 watts divided by 120 volts) so you'd better be careful where you plug it in or you're going to be blowing circuit breakers.

  • fast warming heater
    By A2763NBNW1IUFI on 2007-02-12
It's quick to heat up and heat is intense, perfect for small room/office. However, the temperature control doesn't work very well so it can get very hot and dry.

  • Great little heater
    By A2LAIG4KNPEFHV on 2007-12-17
    Pros:

    -Heats a small room fast
    -Fairly quiet
    -No strange smells
    -Thermostat works well
-Reliable - I've left it on for days with no problem

    Cons:

-No actual temperatures on the thermostat
    -No handle

  • Very good--most of the time
    By A2IS5XXOZDDWIM on 2007-01-09
The heater works very well--most of the time. I use it for extended periods to heat my small trailer and once in a while it seems to get overwhelmed and stops working. As per the directions, I unplug it for a while and after 10 minutes or so it starts working again--most of the time.... Sometimes it takes longer than 10 minutes.... I'm not sure why. All in all, I'm glad it's here--most of the time.

  • weird start up but then fine
    By A3NQI8PN2G7V8D on 2007-01-10
when I first plugged it in it had a problem and shut down. Something with it's saftey system I'm sure. After unplugging it and a five minute wait, it worked perfectly and seems to be fine.

  • Good heater for a small space
    By A309MZ79E0N522 on 2007-05-12
This heater heats up quickly and is good for smaller spaces. It's not powerful enough to heat a larger room, but is perfect for my small office.

  • I love this thing
    By A2QR31D5E7TE0T on 2007-05-23
I have a walk-out basement. It gets cold in the winter. Somebody recommended using a ceramic heater. I chose this one based on favorable online reviews. I was not disappointed. It's quite potent. Yes, the thermostat doesn't quite regulate as well as the product description claims. But the price is right, it's sturdy, and it keeps you warm in your cold basement.

  • Erratic heater
    By AU7VN0KQ958BK on 2007-07-31
This heater is unpredictable and works only 1/3 of the time. It was fine in the beginning, but the honeymoon lasted for less than 2 months. I would not recommend this heater.

  • less than expected
    By A3TSQVDK4TZ1VD on 2008-01-04
i lower my rating if it were allowed to ONE STAR!!!

i bght these (5 of them) to set by pipes during winter to keep them from freezing. this based on the ad saying they had a frost setting. when they arrived the manual said the frost setting came on at 74degrees ! well i never heard ever of any frost happening at 74 degrees. i called the company and they were inept...had not a clue and tried to give some song and dance skirting the issue. forget their customer service being any help.

so i tried an imperical study...wait til the thermometer came to 'frost temps' i set the thing out on the deck at 32, then 30, the 28 while on the frost setting...it never came on.

as for using it otherwise, i was quite disappointed in the heat output. the fan blowing diluted the heat. radiant would have been better than forced with such a high volume fan. i kept the heater by my desk, about 4 feet away and was still cold, mainly due to the fan's action.

all in all i would say these certainly to me are near to being useless as a heater and as a frost heater.
