My 4 year old son got this for Christmas and absolutely LOVES it. He'll play with it for hours and the batteries last long.
One thing I will say is that the instructions for adding batteries do not say to pull down the wheels it says only to squeeze sides and pull upwards. You must pull down the wheels, squeeze sides and pull upwards.

I wanted to get my 2 yr old son his 1st train set. He loves Thomas the train,so this was perfect. It is a great "starter" set I would say. Not to big, but not to small either. The tracks are easy enough for my son to put together himself. Even his 7 yr old sister enjoys it. My son has many Thomas the train take along trains, he will even put them on the track and push them around on it.

My husband bought this toy for my two-year old son last Christmas and he just loved playing with it. It was a big hit, and he played with it every day. I had it packed away when we moved, and just got it back out again for him. He still enjoys playing with it, and it's like a new toy for him. The pieces come apart easily, so Thomas derails quite often, but they are just as easy to put back together, so that is not a problem, and he can fix it by himself which helps too. Overall, this was a fun toy for the whole family, and has lasted for over a year already. Good investment for your money, and great fun!
Great fun and good price

My 2-year-old son became a "Thomas and Friends'" fan recently. And this toy set just has everything he wants: Thomas the tank engine, tunnel, bridge, and a station. He had a lot of fun. And it's less than $27 including shipping at etoy which is much cheaper than the wooden Thomas sets.
