Swaddling Soothes Newborns and Reduces Symptoms of Colic by recreating the familiar, comforting snugness of the womb. Swaddling also reduces the incidence of the startle reflex, which can upset babies and increase the frequency of waking and crying. Swaddling Can Reduce the Risk of SIDS and help babies sleep through the night. New research shows that swaddling can help reduce the risk of SIDS by promoting better sleep when infants are on their backs. Pediatricians Have Long Recommended Swaddling to soothe and comfort newborns, but loose blankets do not stay securely in place. The SwaddleMe provides the simplest, most effective way to swaddle newborns. Swaddling Can Reduce the Risk of SIDS and help babies sleep through the night. • Swaddling simplified

    By A12C0UER29529W on 2005-05-16
This wrap really does make it easier to swaddle your baby - moreover, it makes it harder for the swaddling to come undone, saving you time and effort. At such a reasonable price, it's worth getting two so you'll always have a clean one on hand. One thing to note about size: We have both a fleece wrap and a cotton wrap. Even though they're both the same size, the fleece wrap is a bit smaller than the cotton wrap, especially in terms of the "wings." We use the fleece wrap at the very end of the velcro tabs on my daughter now (she weighs 11 pounds), while with the cotton wrap there is still plenty of room for when she gets bigger. Lengthwise, though, they're about the same, and at 22 1/2 inches, she can now kick her legs out of the wraps if she really tries.

  • Protect The Velcro

    By A3NZF19UWLZA76 on 2006-10-04
When my daughter was born, I didn't know about swaddling, and it would take me HOURS to get her to sleep! I would feed or rock her in my arms until she falls asleep, then put her in her crib... and she'd flail her arms, wake up and cry, and I had to start all over! What a nightmare!

Then I figured out that since her arms wake her, it would make sense to wrap her in something so she couldn't move them as much... so I started wrapping her in regular receiving blankets. It worked! It became much easier to get her to sleep. But then she wiggled out of those receiving blankets and wake up again.

When she was a little over a month old, somehow I came across SwaddleMe blankets on the Internet and immediately bought it. It worked like a charm! It was so easy to wrap my daughter in it, and it stayed put. My daughter started sleeping so much better!

I wish I found those blankets sooner - it would've saved me from so many sleepless nights!

Some reviewers mentioned that the velcro doesn't work well - they probably dried it in a dryer... I did it with one of those blankets, and the velcro started coming undone more easily. To protect the velcro, you need to hang them to dry instead of using the dryer.

I consider this blanket one of the most important baby items you could buy. It should be a must for a new mother who wants to get some sleep!

  • Great Product

Was very useful the first 3 months of age after that she broke free wothout any trouble.

  • Snug as a Bug in a Rug

    By ADLZJAODZKPO5 on 2005-05-09
What will they think of next? I absolutely love this product. The lightweight, soft, 100% cotton material is a great alternative to the heavier fleece for the warmer months. The neutral green color is wonderful for both boys and girls. It is easy to use and baby stays snuggly wrapped much better than the traditional recieving blanket. Mom and Dad can rest assured that your precious little one will feel safe and secure in the "swaddle me".

  • Don't fall for this cheap knockoff

    By A133S2FHNKK2O9 on 2006-01-10
This product is a cheap knockoff of the Miracle Blanket, and is not worth the savings! Let me tell you why.

I bought and used this product for my newborn daughter. As soon as we brought her home, we found out that she liked to be swaddled, like most newborns. BUT this product did not swaddle her even close to tightly enough. The point of swaddling is it immobilizes their arms and hugs them snuggly. This product loosely wrapped her so her arms were flailing about inside, and eventually she worked her hands and arms out. So I wrapped her tighter with it, but then the fabric stretched way beyond the velcro. So, I had to use safety pins to keep the thing around her! Talk about freaky with those sharp pins around my baby. (This is a normal-sized baby, born at 7 1/2 lbs., and I was using the newborn size.) By the time she grew to where the velcro was getting even CLOSE to where I needed it to be, she had outgrown the thing height-wise!

So I bought a Miracle Blanket, which is over twice as expensive, and it is AWESOME. Worth every penny. This thing wraps your baby up nice and tight at any size, never any need for safety pins, and they stay wrapped up tight until you unwrap them. Plus, you don't have to buy 2 or 3 different sizes like you do with the SwaddleMe, so think about that when comparing prices.

Bottom line is, you get what you pay for. I am a firm believer in swaddling because when our daughter is swaddled, she sleeps like a rock in between feedings, and when she is not swaddled she fusses a lot at night. Every parent of a newborn should have a Miracle Blanket, and no one should waste their money on this cheap knockoff that is sure to disappoint.

  • We couldn't sleep without it!
    By A1587AYHAW9NVK on 2005-10-09
This is by far the best baby item I received and it is only $10. I read Dr. Karp's book and adapted his swaddling method to help my colicky son sleep. We started using the swaddle me and the 5 s's at about 3 weeks. After about two nights, we were convinced that this is a great product. It made swaddling much easier. I am convinced that it helped my son sleep through the night at a very early stage. He started sleeping from 10-6 at 8 weeks! He's now 5 months and we weened him from the swaddle me at about 3 1/2 months, but (knock on wood) he's a still a great sleeper now. I believe the swaddle me should be on every new mother's list. I am buying them for all my friends' baby showers now.

  • An easy way to swaddle
    By ARPST902K1MF2 on 2005-08-11
This is a great product. Because I had a large baby, I was only able to swaddle my baby a few weeks with the traditional blanket wrap. This wrap easily accommodates him and does not come undone like the blanket. He sleeps better when swaddled and I do not have to worry about loose bedding covering his face should he wiggle free. I tried another brand (First Years) and the shoulder opening is too large and he was able to wiggle both arms out as soon as I laid him down. This brand is by far the best. I purchased three of them so one is always ready.

  • Better and longer sleep for baby and you!
    By A267FGMFS742IM on 2005-10-29
Buy one if you don't already have one! I really can't stop singing the praises of the SwaddleMe. We received 1 SwaddleMe as a baby shower gift and within 2 days of my son's birth had to go out and get 2 more so that we always had a clean one on hand. Swaddling is so much easier and so much more secure with this, compared to a receiving blanket. At about 3 weeks our son began to kick and swirm in the SwaddleMe so we stopped using it because we thought he didn't like it anymore. Big mistake! After trial and error and talking to the pediatrician we learned his kicking and squirming was due to fussying about going to bed not the SwaddleMe. Once we resumed using it at around 6 weeks, he slept longer and better because he wouldn't wake himself up with his startling movements, which most if not all babies do at that age. Needless to say once we started using it again he was quickly sleeping 8-9 hours straight at night, about 2 hours more than he was without the SwaddleMe.

The cotton SwaddleMe is not as warm as the fleece one, so depending on the temperature outside and in the house, we use whichever one is most appropriate.

  • Warning!!!
    By A38787NSUQAWOM on 2006-02-21
We bought this item and could not wait to use it on our newborn daughter. Luckily, she was laying right next to me in her bouncy chair at the time because within 5 minutes, I looked over at her and the blanket had covered her whole face. When I lowered it, the skin around her mouth was blue.

We tried it again 3 weeks later, when she was a bit bigger. Initially, it seemed fine but within a few minutes, it slid up to cover her mouth and nose again.

I would not recommend this product. I will throw mine away because I am afraid to give it or sell it to anyone!

    Buyer beware!!!!

  • Absolutely a must
    By A356JAJSFPFB5P on 2007-12-11
Let's face it, you have a newborn and tons of dresses, etc. Do you really need them? Don't think so, as mostly it's a wrap you will be having, etc. Now, the problem with wraps is that invariably the legs "shoot" out, sooner or later, the blankets get tangled and there's a pronounced risk of SIDS due to suffocation. On these aspects, this product is a life-saver. The velcro tags get attached wonderfully and tucks the legs in too. The baby also loves it as there's no creases, etc. which is pitching him/her somewhere. A HIGHLY recommended product.

There are 2 sizes - big and small. They do have a difference. I think the small suffices till 3 or 4 months. The big's not required much since by that time you'll need to figure out if your baby likes/dislikes such wraps, or prefers clothes, etc. etc. Don't try to use the big on a newborn though. It's too big and the newborn will effectively "swim" inside!! Finally, the velcro tabs won't fit and thus you'll have troble attaching them.

  • Baby all Bundled In
    By ARL9GAMD67946 on 2005-07-20
Great product for the infants. I don't know how to swaddle the babies. Everytime I try it just comes all lose. I'm so glad that I found this product for my infant. Not only is it soft but, the my daughter looks so cozy in it.

  • absolute necessity!
    By A1UQRAYZI1MB81 on 2005-11-21
This is an absolute must have for parents that decide to swaddle their babies. It is easy to use and you don't have to worry about it coming undone while the baby is sleeping. Buy at least 2 or 3 of these so you don't have to go without if one is dirty.

  • Make sure to choose the right material to purchase
    By A3EKW25V3IKV58 on 2005-12-21
I absolutely loved the SwaddleMe wraps. They are swaddling made simple-especially great for grandparents and baby sitters that might not know how to swaddle a baby really well. I purchased 2 of them, but encountered a problem with one of my SwaddleMe wraps. One was the cotton wrap and the other was the cotton flannel. The cotton wrap stretched out very easily, so my baby boy could get his arms out and would wake up. The cotton flannel was the best choice for us. This did not lose its shape and kept him snug through the night. Most nights, my 2.5 month old will sleep from 7pm to 5:30am w/ out waking up. He eats at 5:30am then goes right back to sleep, swaddled. This is a great thing to have, especially when the receiving blankets you've received are all the smaller size.

  • Great for Swaddling
    By A121J7M3OGD4S on 2006-03-23
This is the only way to swaddle our baby that she can't wiggle out of. She sleeps much better when she is swaddled (she doesn't startle herself). We loved this so much we had to buy 2 more so now we have 3 to rotate through the laundry.

  • Love this. Recommended for all newborns
    By A13M8IUWSLH335 on 2005-10-05
I started using this after our baby started "escaping" out of our swaddle. This keeps his arms from flailing and waking himself up. Right now (3months) we are swaddling his arms, letting his hands stick out on the top so he can pacify himself. I also created holes for his legs to stick out since he really doesn't like his legs wrapped up. Also recommend using the larger size.

  • Cotton
    By A1OP2Z86X5721F on 2005-12-25
When I received this item I realized it was the cotton wrap, not the microfleece. The cotton does not fit as snugly and is not very warm. So, I would recommend the microfleece if you want a warm, snug fit. Cotton might be good for summer or warm climates, and the cotton fits bigger babies beacuse it is not as snug.

  • Too large for newborn
    By A2PDA3UNW3AFWZ on 2006-03-12
Unless you have a newborn over 10 lbs., this blanket is too stretchy and the tabs are too far apart to truly wrap up the baby. But once the baby gets older, such as my son who is about 15 lbs. now, the blanket is pretty useful to swaddle during warm days. Another minor downfall is the tiny tab that holds the bottom piece together. It comes apart easily because of the velcro is so small.

  • Did not work for me
    By A3FXF3R2VBUDZ9 on 2006-06-08
I purchased this product because I liked the idea of being able to easily remove the leg pouch to change diapers. I purchased the small which is designed to fit 7 to 14 lbs. The first time I used it, I realized it did not fit my son. Although he weighs 9 1/2 lbs., the wing stretched far past the velcro fastener. My husband and I watched him wiggle his arm free in 15 minutes. I would suggest that you just purchase a regular receiving blanket. Just make sure it is large enough (about 30x40) so that you have enough fabric to effectively wrap your baby.

  • Buy the gingham instead!
    By A2JW55VZG0A1NC on 2006-12-02
I *LOVE* this product. It's a far better velcro swaddler than the other brands because it uses bigger patches of velcro. In comparison to a blanket, this is much easier to use and provides much more durable swaddles. I'm quite good with a blanket, but by six weeks of age, my son could wriggle out. On the other hand, at three months, he's never wriggled out of the cotton flannel Swaddleme.

However, even in cold weather, the microfleece is too hot. Several times I've felt under the blanket to find my son sweaty. It's even worse when we combine the swaddle with a sling. On the other hand, the cotton knit (solid colors) blankets are too stretchy - my son quickly converts his knit Swaddleme into a toga, leaving both arms flying free. The cotton flannel (gingham prints) has less stretch than the other two fabrics, and plenty enough cover to keep a baby warm at indoor temperatures. It is trickier to find, but worth the search.

The microfleece Swaddleme does, however, make a great non-swaddle blanket on cold days, particularly when the baby is in a front carrier. The velcro is quite versatile.

  • Not for Baby Houdinis!
    By A1S4S3ZCOXQRZP on 2006-02-15
I was reluctant to invest in a blanket specifically for swaddling, but after a few weeks of making due with regular blankets, I tried the SwaddleMe wrap. While it is reasonably priced, cute and easy to use, my little guy found it easy to "escape", both from the size-appropriate blanket, and from the smaller size. I just couldn't keep his arms secure or tightly wrapped. Swaddling at night makes all the difference for my baby, so I'll continue to do it, but I'm back to my low-tech system: receiving blanket and tape.

  • Inferior Product
    By AVXYRBOL4LNYK on 2006-08-13
The product failed in every respect - the velcro stopped sticking within a week (we bought three and had to throw each one away after a week of use because they no longer functioned). In addition, the non-microfleece version stretched, which means your baby can wrangle out of the swaddle - rendering it ineffective at best. They need to take this product off the shelves and rethink its design and the quality of materials used in its construction - very dissappointing,

  • Simply put - does not work
    By A1PQK9OTGHDY08 on 2006-12-17
I read Dr. Karp's book and decided to buy a swaddling blanket. After doing a lot of research and reading a ton of good reviews on this one, I decided not to spend the $30+shipping on the miracle blanket, but get this instead. Boy, was that a bad decision. We tried a few times, and my baby unswaddled herself within seconds! Granted, we had a big and healthy baby, who was strong, so maybe if your baby is tiny and/or weaker than an average newborn for whatever reason, it might work nicely for a while, but otherwise, don't waste your time with this. I ended up buying the miracle blanket, and that WORKED! Do yourself a favor, spend the extra $20 and buy the miracle blanket. I could have avoided many sleepless nights if I did that earlier!

  • love it!
    By A3P4DLZW75KVW5 on 2007-03-03
I think these are awesome! A must have for Newborns! I just had my 5th child and wish I had found these earlier! I didn't use this for long, about the first month. But it made things so much easier that I think it was worth every penny! One thing I really like is you can keep the top closed holding their arms in close while you change their diapers. They seem to not mind their diapers changed as much this way. They are also nice because they stay tightly swaddled unlike recieving blankets that loosen and move around.

  • Save your money
    By AP2RQF7PNKTBL on 2007-05-06
I expected great things from this blanket since Baby Bargains raved about it. Save your money and buy an Amazing Miracle Blanket instead. The velcro is annoying, and my daughter could wiggle out of this way too easily. She never got out of the Amazing Miracle Blanket, even at 6 months (I swaddled her when we were traveling and she had a hard time sleeping). Skip the swaddleme and get an Amazing Miracle Blanket. I swear I don't work for them--it's just that the blanket design is amazing and miraculous!

  • Miracle blanket!
    By A3F69HNLEEWH11 on 2007-05-23
We love this blanket so much, we've given it a name! My baby only stayed swaddled until she was about 2 weeks, then could wiggle out of even the tightest wrap and cried almost all night. Then of course would sleep all day... then would be wide awake at night again! It was frustrating! When she was about 6 weeks, I remembered that I had bought this Kiddopotamus blanket (it was just sitting in the closet) and thought I'd try swaddling again. That night, she slept 9 hours straight! Every night since, she sleeps at least 7 hours, and some days as much as 10! Unlike other swaddle blankets I have, this blanket is soft and stretchy so she can move a little if she is uncomfortable (but arms stay in there) and you can open the bottom easily for diaper changes or when the temp is warmer. We think it's a lifesaver for those who like to sleep at night. I think it has magic powers. ;) And, it's cheap!

  • 2 week old loves it. worth the $10
    By A1VXIY1511XQK2 on 2007-08-20
swaddles my daughter who is only 2 weeks old and not even 7lbs great. shes always very content while in it. i just took it out of the package, washed it, then tried it on her without having to look at directions, so its simple to use. no complaints here. definately worth the 10 bucks.

  • Every mother needs one
    By ANND0WTYE485D on 2005-09-12
I can't imagine what i did before I got this for my baby. I love that it comes in two sizes and that it is easy to bundle up even the wigglyest of babies nice and tight. I will buy one for everyone I know when they have a baby.

Note: I did find the description confusing on the website when given the choice between newborn and infant wrap, i chose infant thinking that I was getting the largest size. But I was immediately hooked anyway.

  • Best swaddler out there
    By A25Y1QNT72OG6C on 2005-11-18
This is the best swaddler you can find. It is so great that you can get it in a large size. It is also available in cotton material too, not just microfleece in the large. Worth every penny. Dont bother with any other brand.

  • Never Worked
    By A1XZJ29KK7O78S on 2006-01-17
My daughter is a strong little girl and though she needed to be swaddled in order to actually sleep...she fought it most of the time. I bought this item in hopes that it would be comfortable for her and easy to use. Needless to say she unswaddled herself easily and could not sleep as a result. Admittedly not all children make valiant attempts at getting out of their blankets, however my little girl was pretty intent. I never could use this item and had to revert to using larger blankets until she no longer needed to be swaddled.

  • Not Worth It
    By A3Q6WT6K3BVEPG on 2006-03-01
I bought this b/c my son is not able to sleep unswaddled and he gets tangled up in regular swaddling blankets (scary!). Unfortunately, it was a waste of money. The blanket is not designed to swaddle tightly (which is the point) and my son is 9 lbs, 7 oz (clearly within the 7 - 14 lb range). He got his arms loose and they flailed inside the blanket even after I stitched on additional velcro to make the swaddling tighter. Unless your child doesn't wiggle at all, don't bother with this blanket.
