Best Price: $19.99

A train, a stacking toy, and a learning system, this toy comes with five cars and an engine that displays different numbers of objects, which match to the number on the car, further reinforcing the number/object correlation. However, the magic really begins when toddlers can attach each of the cars in any order and get a different response. With three modes of play, toddlers are introduced to numbers, colors, animal names, animal sounds, music and other fun sounds. For example, in counting mode, attach the number two car and hear, "Two bells! Ding! Ding! Tickets please!" In colors mode, attach the number three car and hear, "Yellow car! Ready to go! Toot! Toot!" In music mode, attach any of the cars to add a different verse to the train song. Toddlers can press down on conductor Leap to hear three different songs based on the learning mode they have selected. Then for quiet play, toddlers can stack each of the cars from largest to smallest to help build their hand-eye coordination. Requires 3 "AA" batteries (included). Measures 30" x 8" x 15.5".

Connect the cars and leap aboard this lively and engaging learning train. Friendly Leap the frog waves from the engine of this cute and colorful train, which provides an introduction to numbers, colors, animals, and music. The set includes five brightly colored cars in graduated sizes, each bearing a number: connect the cars to the engine to hear songs and fun train sounds. Slide the switches on the engine to control volume and choose one of three modes of play: counting, colors, and music. As little ones alter the order of the train cars, Leap helps them explore sequencing, colors, and sizes. Sturdy magnetic links hold the train together as it rolls over hill and dale. For more hands-on learning fun, head someplace trains rarely go--by stacking the cars skyward. Winner of an Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Gold Award, the Learning Connections Train introduces important early learning skills, from math to memory to motor skills and music. As a nod to its versatility, this link-and-stack toy can be run silently and still offer toddlers rewarding learning experiences. While three AA batteries (included) power the sounds of this little train, it’s up to kids to make it move. With no track required, the wheeled set rolls smoothly across any hard surface a little conductor would like to explore. --Heather Lyndon MPN: 010014 - UPC: 708431100145

  • Didn't strike her fancy

My 1 year old received this train as a first b-day gift. It wasn't nearly as exciting as the Sesame Street "Teach and Go" train we inherited from my brother's kids. It doesn't move unless you push it yourself, unlike the Teach and Go train that goes on its own. It mainly sings songs and you can stack it, but the parts of the attachable cars don't have any interactive parts. Boring!

  • Great for my 2 year old

I bought this for my daughter at 11 months. She hasn't played with it much because of my train crazy almost 3 year old son. I like this toy. The songs are pleasant sounding (nice) if repetitive) what kid's toy isn't? As you add trains it names off the number car and asks the child to add other color cars.

  • Great learning toy!

This train is a lot of fun. The songs are catchy and easy to sing along with. There are several different songs depending on the train mode so as a parent, it doesn't get too irritating.

The toy itself is built out of strong hard plastic which has survived the dog chewing on it and being thrown around the room. There is a switch that changes modes which includes an OFF mode for parents.

Learning motor skills, my kids easily hook up the different cars to the train engine and love hearing a new part of the song. Depending on the mode, they learn about colors or numbers.

Stacking the cars is another way to play with this toy. I've never seen a "train tower" in real life, but the kids love making these at home. The best part is always knocking it over!

  • better than expected

I bought this for my son when he was 10 months old. He loved trains and of course he loves this one too. When we brought it home we discovered that when you hook the cars onto the engine it recognizes which one you have put on and will tell the child (depending on the setting) what color or how many objects are on that train car. Each car attaches by magnet but is strong enough to hold when they pull it. The cars also stack together for a nesting toy. My son likes that it talks and he enjoys the bright colors and music (which can be turned off by the way)

  • TO THE CRITICS OF THIS TOY

First of all, I doubt much of the paint was even swallowed by your little one.

Second, WHERE have you been the last decade plus??? The paint used today in infant and childrens toys is generally non-toxic and LEAD FREE! Your child will not die from it any more than he will die from having the walls painted in his bedroom.

Third, you should probably find a new doctor, because your current one must think you are insane for making an appointment for a little paint chipping.

Fourth, you should call and apologize to whomever you chewed out at LeapFrog because they make exceptional infant, toddler, and children's products!

My son loves this toy train and it is completely safe or it would not still be on the market.

When my toddler gets tired of a toy, I put it away for a month or so. When I bring it back out, it's like a new toy all over again! It is great to have a toy rotation box, then you have two sets of toys that are well played with, but not all out at once.

  • Enjoyable for a month or so

My daughter likes this toy. She likes the songs, and she likes that she can take it apart and put it back together. When you put the train pieces together, it knows what car was added and sings the appropriate song. I think it helped her to learn colors, as well as learning the meaning of "It's backward, sweety." Like most tos, my daughter grew bored of it after a motnh or so and was ready for something new. I guess that's a good thing, but it's expensive!

  • Not safe, bad paintjob

The toy is great but they could have used colored plastic rather than cheap paint. Take a look at my customer photos and you will see why I had to give this toy 1 star. Imagine seeing that after your kid played with this toy. I took my son to the Dr. just in case and he suggested a lead test. Thank god nothing was wrong but the least Leapfrog could have done was use colored plastic for the head.

  • Great train, but VERY loud.
    By A3W3NZORR0HXZ7 on 2006-12-30
This train is really cool. My two and a half year old son loves it even though we bought it for the 8 month old. The songs are great and the interactivity with attaching cars is cool. The only problem is that it is too loud. The low setting is as loud as it should ever go, and the loud setting must be for playing with it inside a loud factory. Inside a house the loud setting is deafening. It would get 5 stars if I didn't wish I were wearing earplugs...

  • I got a great deal and the child loved it!

I bought this for a friends son. He loved it and I only paid about 1/4 of what I have seen it for at stores and even on tv shopping channels!

  • Fun

My son LOVES trains, so he likes this toy fine. He's two and he doesn't understand connecting the train it asks for, but the toy just sings a song about whatever train is connected. He also dropped the engine in the tub and it didn't work for a few days. Once it dried out though it worked fine.
