  • Stunning photos with this Matte Paper

    By A35GINRA49VWTG on 2006-11-05
I recently purchased a new canon printer and knew I wanted to order some paper along with the purchace of the printer. I love matte finish and had always selected this for my film photos. I ordered this paper with some trepidation because of the one reviewer that thought this paper was such poor quality. There have been some who have said it is difficult to tell which side of the paper to use, and this is true. There is no "Canon" written across the back of this paper. If you do select the 'wrong' side of the paper and didn't realize it, anyone would be dissapointed and I do hope the one reviewer will return here and try the other side of her paper. To use the right side of the paper, hold two pieces of the paper up to each other. The right side to print on is the brighter white and has a very lightly textured surface. The wrong side of the paper is more yellowish and is very smooth. When printing on the right side of the paper the photos come out absolutely stunning. My printer came with samples of the photo paper pro (glossy) which is probably quite nice if you are a glossy paper person. It wasn't until I could see my photos printed on this 4 x 6 matte paper that I could really appreciate the quality of my printer. If you are a lover of Matte finish, you will love this paper. It lets the photo grab the attention rather than the shiny finish.

  • Ecxelent paper

    By A1E8PWW106DRBE on 2005-11-30
I guess some people presume that photograph should look shiny and glossy all over. Non for everyone. I like matte finish. Also it's has much more longevity-if you touch it with your sweat fingers it won't smudge as gloosy prints. To anyone who hates matte appearence I will recomend to visit museum with picture gallery. Do you see lots of shine there? No. Glossy print may appear to be sharper-but it's only appearence. Do take your picture in good focus and you'll have exelent results no matter what paper matte or glossy. This paper is not waste of money-as a matter of fact, you save bunch of it buying this paper over glossy. Higly reccomend.

  • If you like matte finish photos, you'll love this product!

    By A25SPMKOPNCTVA on 2005-06-24
I am extremely satisfied with my purchase! I've never really cared for glossy finish photos and was happy to find this matte finish photo paper in the 4x6 size. It makes printing my digital photos easy and fun! Especially easy with my Canon PIXMA MP750 All-In-One Printer!

  • Great Pictures - but which side is which?

    By AIWRNSDISR3XE on 2006-01-13
After much research and shopping around, I bought an i9900 last month. I have been extremely happy with the picture quality and the speed of the printer. I learned with my last printer the value of using original equipment manufacturer supplies - the picture quality is so much better on Canon paper/ink in the Canon printer. This was my first foray into the matte finish, and my only complaint is that I have a HARD time determining the print side of this paper. The printed pictures are outstanding nonetheless.

  • Smudge-Free Pictures!

    By A1L3S3FGGASY2R on 2006-04-07
I've used Canon Matte Photo paper for years in my Canon S900 printer. The pictures are stunning! One of the best features is that the pictures are easy to view because they are completely flat finish yet retain all the resolution your digital image can provide. Using Canon's Easy-Photo printing program with the Matte Paper presets makes printing a breeze. Water will still smudge the print but fingerprints do not show and my oldest prints retain their excellent colors.

  • highly recommend
    By A3O7RNJ8IFH1BU on 2007-03-08
I highly recommend this paper. I managed a high end pro photo lab for 10 years and now that I am a hobbyist and like to print at home this is my favorite paper to use. Just be sure to load it in the printer correctly. If you print on the wrong side it looks very bad.

  • waste of money
    By A30IGUDWPUPMGZ on 2005-07-28
I thought I could save money by printing some photos on this less expensive matte photo paper. Big mistake. Quality is so poor that I'm ready to just dump it. Can't figure what else to use it for.

  • Great for invitations, and photos under glass
    By A93X7IROCAHK6 on 2007-02-08
I use this paper for my sons parties invitations and is great, pictures look good, colors are strong. The paper looks and feel like just paper, but the results are great. I have printed some pictures for framing under glass and the results great.

Just don't print on the wrong side of the paper.

  • Not much better than plain paper
    By A3UIHLVN4MHPY9 on 2006-12-20
Most Canon photo paper is very high quality. I print to the photo paper (glossy) and photo paper plus all the time and am very happy with the results. So I was surprised that this paper is so dull. It is hard to tell which side is the printable side and the printouts are 2-dimensional and not very bright.

  • Matte 4x6 Canon Photo Paper disappointed me big time
    By A1E7LUHHQFLWCL on 2007-08-01
I expected the matte style to be similar to that I received at the Fotomat where I paid for prints. This is much more like printing on cardboard. As my wife said when she first viewed, "it looks like you printed on the back of a legal tablet. It looks that flat, dull, unappealing, even with a beautiful color image to print.

I am so disappointed I try to give it away to a couple of friends who have their own printers. When I showed them my results, without telling them first what I thought of it, they simply declined saying they preferred the glossy look. When I told them I hated the look, they breathed a sigh of relief and told me how horrible they too thought they looked. I also showed them some semi-gloss and glossy Canon prints from my PIXMA Pro9000, they thought they were marvelous.

Don't buy unless you see an example first in person, otherwise, you too might have wasted good money. I still have one more pack let and am debating to send it back to Amazon or not, as I am not the type to often complain or ask for a refund.

One last negative comment, and believe me, I have no positive comments to make about this paper, is that you can't even tel which side is the correct side to print. Other Canon paper has the words Canon written all over the back of the paper, but you don't need it as the glossy really stands out, but on this paper, where you really have a difficult time telling front from back, their is no writing to help you. I actually had to print on the back of one paper and then the other side in order to tell, and then there was very little difference, thus showing just how bad this paper is!

  • High Quality Matte Photo Paper
    By A3VVMIMMTYQV5F on 2007-12-29
These bad boys are thick and sturdy, very bright, and contains the printed image beautifully.
High Gloss Ultra Premium Professional Photo Paper (or any other of its 10,000 other names) might be the fashion trend with the status quo nowadays, but for me I prefer printing on matte paper any day.
The ink dries instantaneously, and the colors, contrast, etc. pop out like no other - no more waiting forever for glossy prints to dry, no more smudgy fingers!
I'm not a professional printer, but in my experience nothing beats printing on matte paper, and these Canon papers are simply awesome.

BTW - I live in Hawaii and all the big local office supply stores (Office Max, Office Depot, CompUSA, Walmart, etc.) simply don't carry 4x6 matte photo paper anymore. The answers I get are like, "oh, they just don't send us anymore so we don't carry them."
I don't even know who else besides Canon makes them, but it will be a very sad day if they ever decide to cease producing them.
Don't let 4x6 matte photo paper go into extinction!

  • Terrible Product
    By A3IE6WTWW9LLVD on 2007-01-22
I thought I was getting matte photo paper. Inside was the equivalent of large index cards with no "matte" finish on them. I thought it was my fault and so I kept trying to print a good matte photo with my new Canon printer but they were flat and dull.

  • looks just like a piece of cardboard
    By A3NAGUVDRJ13JR on 2007-01-30
I thought that this paper would be similar to the matte finish at local photo places, but it looks and prints just like a piece of cardboard. Very disappointed

  • Not for Pro's...
    By A2HMGAF1E292KH on 2007-11-27
Well, it's genuine Canon... It's all dependes what you expect from this paper. If you used to "matte" in meaning of Ilford or Kodak or HP you will be disappointed because this paper looks and feels like heavy weight high resolution paper-definately not "photo" paper. I personally recommend Ilford...

  • Great quality IF YOU USE THE RIGHT SIDE
    By A84Q144K56EC0 on 2008-03-16
This photo paper makes excellent quality matte photos ONLY if you use the right side of the paper. I mistakenly used the wrong side and the photo was terrible. I redid the photo on the right side and the results were wonderful!
You must be sure you are printing on the BRITE WHITE side of the paper and not the yellower side as already stated in an earlier review.
If you like matte photos you should really like this paper if you use it properly.

  • Not For Photo Printing
    By A2V6VQZSQB4CWI on 2007-08-06
This paper is only good for printing invitations or test pictures. It feels flimsy and the pictures quality is poor. It is like using good quality letter paper for pictures. I have used other photo paper (Epson & Kodak) which have been far superior and would recommend if you want beautiful quality, long lasting pics. Buy this only if you want a quick post card, invitation, cheap holiday pictures, etc.

  • okay
    By A362GKXQ0QIADH on 2007-10-29
when i think matte i think professional pictures, but that is not what this is at all. it is a very dull photo paper.

  • overpriced cardstock
    By A1F9V7CSDOC0YS on 2008-01-11
Save yourself the money and buy cardstock. This does not look like a professionally printed matte photo. It's just a bunch of cardstock. Way overpriced!

  • This is not Photo Paper! This is cardstock!!
    By A1QMVMQ1GZIP57 on 2008-03-23
I purchased this paper with the assumption that this would be photo paper - that is what it says in the description after all. I just opened this and what do I find, not photo paper, but cardstock. Do not buy this product. It is not what it says it is. Shame on you Canon!

  • Not photo paper.
    By A37PQ5LWWO7GVG on 2008-05-26
I should have believed the plethora of reviews stating that this is cardstock, not photo paper. I thought "Canon can't be deceiving loyal customers who just spent hundreds of dollars on a new printer." I was wrong.
