  Going from a two-channel RCA signal (the white and red wires from your console) into a converter does not convey true DISCREET surround sound. Yes, you are "surrounded" by sound, but discreet surround sound means that the game/DVD's 5 independent sound signals are preserved when passed through to their respective speakers. All this adapter does is take a two-channel signal and allow it to be re-mixed and ported into a fake 5.1 surround sound signal. It does not create true surround sound. This adapter only allows for an emulated 5.1 experience, not a true 5.1 experience.
  
  And yes, most Logitech speaker systems already come with this adapter, so be sure you check on the back of the box or in the online item description before you buy this.

  I got this game adapter to hook up my big screen TV to my Logitech X-530 surround speakers. I work third shift and live in a house that is divided into three apartments and I wanted to listen to the TV with headphones (the main speaker has a headphone jack). With the TV hooked up to the speakers (via the adapter) I can watch a movie or TV show and tune out the world at the same time while I sleep. This works great. The adapter is a hefty little black square with two RCA plugs on one side (for your TV) and three plugs on the other (green, black, and orange for your speakers). Just hook it up and you're good to go.

  Be aware that if you are using a stereo source (two channels, red/white), you can butter it up all you want, but you are not getting surround sound. The closest you can physically get to true non-stereo sound with a stereo source is using Dolby Pro-Logic and Pro-Logic II. But to achieve that, you need a Dolby Pro-Logic/II receiver which would cost a pretty penny. This clearly does not do this.
  
  What this adapter does, is the same thing you would achieve by splicing the rear left, front left, and center speaker wire together and connecting it to a single-channel plug (a white RCA plug). Then the same thing being repeated for the right channel with front right, rear right, and center.
  
  Using this adapter, the sound will be all around you, but it won't be surround sound. You won't hear space ships and laser blasts flying around you, you won't hear dialog coming directly from the TV, music from the left and right, and special effects from behind you, nor will you hear any of the other advantages of a real surround sound system. It recreates two really big stereo speakers. That is all. You will hear one set of sounds on the left speakers, and another set of sounds on the right speakers. The same sound that is in your FRONT left speaker will be coming out of your REAR left speaker. Your center speaker just outputs the sound from both front left and front right speaker. The exact same thing can be accomplished by just running a speaker wire from your left speaker to another speaker behind you. What you will hear is two distinctive channels (left and right), but duplicated and sent to the back speakers. Actual 5.1 surround consists of 6 individual channels, one per speaker, plus the subwoofer.
  
  This device does not allow 5.1 surround sound. If you buy an expensive 5.1 speaker set, you are selling yourself short.
  
  Now if you don't care about this and you are just trying to utilize your 5.1 setup on a stereo source, by all means, the product works great. But if you are trying to avoid buying an AV receiver, you will be strongly disappointed.

  No existen dispositivos como estos disponibles en tiendas electronicas, pero para muchos de nosotros que tenemos juegos de parlantes 5.1 para la computadora es una necesidad cuando queremos ponerlo a nuestros dvd player. Primero por la comodidad de ser un dispositivo pequeño y luego por la ventaja de poder utilizarlo con los parlantes y un dvd player, consola de juego, etc. Creo que las mismas ventas lo dicen por si solo que es un producto muy buscado, ya que dura muy pocos dias disponible y luego se agota. Como siempre Logitech pensando en sus clientes.

  No problems at all with this. I used this with my Harmon Kardon computer speakers (1 sub with amp and 2 satellites) to connect to the Wii. Worked flawlessly. Definitely solid construction as well.

  I purchased this item because I needed it to go with the 5.1 computer speakers I had just purchased from Amazon. Amazon will try to sell it to you as a "combo" with the Logitech 5.1 speakers - EVEN THOUGH IT ALREADY COMES WITH THE SPEAKERS.
  
  My 1 star rating is not of the product, but to warn: BUYER BEWARE
  It is $10 once you add on s&h, so keep your money if you are trying to buy it as a combo with the Logitech 5.1 speakers.

  I needed something to connect my 5.1 surround sound speaker system to video game systems and dvd players, because they only have computer plugs. I went to several retail stores like Best Buy, Radioshack, and circuit city, but none of them had one. The closest thing they had to it were plugs that cost 50$. When i saw this on Amazon for 5$ I wasn't quite sure whether it would be good quality, but it turned out to be exactly what I was looking for. It works just fine, and to top it off they delivered it to me in less than half the estimated delivery time. This is a great product to get.

  I use this with my Xbox 360 for a direct connection to my headphones. I play on a computer monitor that has no sound input/output. The video goes into the DVI connection and sound straight to headphones. I control the sound via inline volume control or game settings. That why I don't have to dominate the Plasma, but I can still get a better then TV picture.

  K so I bought the Logitech x-530 5.1 speakers with full intent of having awesome surround sound on my xbox 360...problem: this adapter that came with the speakers DOES NOT give you full surround sound. If you already have it, you can know this by running a game's surround sound test like the Halo 3 one, when the grunt says "speaker behind you over there" it is not solely coming from the back speakers, it still comes from the front speakers, and the center speaker does not get it's dedicated Dialog channel. :( It made me sad.

  I bought this adapter to listen to Playstation 3 audio directly though a pair of headphones. Granted, that isn't what it was designed for, but it works great for this purpose. You get full stereo audio from the green plug and the volume level is good. Exactly what I needed, and for $5, you can't expect more.

  This amazing little coupler allowed me to take my Logitech X-540 5.1 speaker sytem, generally used for video games and computers, and turn it into a complete surround sound system for my TV. You'll be happy that you only spent a few dollars for this coupler, instead of spending $100's on a surround sound system designed for your multimedia system. You really can't tell the difference!

  I was very pleased to receive this adapter quite promptly, in brand-new packaging, never having been opened. For such a low price, this adapter seemed to be the perfect answer to a problem I had been facing for a long while, only to find that when I tried to hook it up for the first time, one of the bands wasn't making a connection. I tried the same jack in every other plug and it worked fine, but the one plug only made connection with one of the two bands on the jack, leaving me with no front-right sound. A defective product delivered blindingly fast is still no solution to my problem. I guess I continue to search elsewhere for a cheap, effective means of surround sound....

  This is a great item but so obscure that it just didnt get put into the box with the speakers that they go to. It is a necessary part for those that have normal plugs for their entertainment system. Otherwise those of you that have every imaginable plug for their systems you may not need this. Sometimes this item is hard to find and I have never seen it in a store. But hands down no one beats the deals you can get here.

  Nice small adaptor. I juse it between my laptop and my Logitech z-5500 speakers i just got. for the price it's great. i've had the other adaptor for 4 years, but it didnt include a plug for the yellow (subwoofer) cable, so i got this one.

  It works as advertised. No problems so far. The product is just the little black box that converts 5.1 systems from your standard AV cables. No cables included. I wish this item just came with the logitech z-5300 speakers that I bought. Even though the z-5300's come with its own game adapter, it only converter 2.1 to the standard AV. But thats another story.

  This will be a pretty short review since this item is so basic. It allowed me to hook my logitech 5.1 speakers up to a computer that does not support the "3-wire output" that the speakers are expecting.
