  • Superior Quality with Excessive Padding

    By A33ZYFE8XMKKR1 on 2006-11-12
The suitability of these gloves depends on what type of lifting you enjoy. With padding on the palm and fingers, your entire gripping surface is cushioned. Such padding is common on bicycling gloves where hours of continuous pressure and vibration can cause numbness and pain. Yet, most serious lifters would probably forgo comfort for better control provided by unpadded gloves.

Traditional weight lifting gloves are made from durable but supple leather to prevent calluses and improve grip. The latter becomes critically important when perspiring. In my experience, having no padding is best - especially when lifting heavier weight. Basically, the compliance of the padding reduces your level of control. At the same time, there is an undesirable absorption of energy, albeit a miniscule amount.

The quality of the materials and construction of the Harbinger 1250 gloves is the best I have seen. Clearly, the expense in making these gloves is significantly higher than in other products I have owned by Nike and Gold's. Unfortunately, the generous use of thick split leather and padding provides insulation that causes excessive heat buildup. With heat comes sweat. I find myself taking these gloves off multiple times during my workout to let the sweat evaporate. It would be nice if there were perforations or large vents on the back to mitigate this problem.

While these gloves might be ideal for certain lifters who prefer comfort over control, I would counsel gym rats to purchase other gloves with less or no padding. Kudos to Harbinger for making a quality product, but these gloves aren't for everyone.

    Pros
    Superior materials
    Excellent double stitching
    Comfortable wrist wrap

    Cons
    Expensive
    Excessive padding
No perforations to dissipate heat and perspiration

  • Great gloves!

    By A2LMSPS4AN9EEA on 2006-08-15
I am very satisfied with this product.

These are my first gloves with extended finger length, which I find now as a big plus especially when doing wrist curls. Wrist wrap works great for me with weak wrists. Padding is very good as well, without it interfering with normal hand fold. I read some reviews commenting on how uncomfortably warm they would get when used; I personally have not felt it; what I do agree with is that taking gloves off is not easy. I found that pulling fingers out first is the less difficult way. I actually wanted to buy the newer model which allows for machine wash, but Amazon did not have L size in stock.

These minor details do not demerit the 5 star rating though.

  • Hardbinger Gloves

    By A39IKXTSEMWRCM on 2005-09-10
This is an excellent product, made for my training needs. Is not the first time I weard this glove brand and I just have to say that I am very satified with the performance.

  • Good Gloves

    By A2H0AKG2ZYR0Y5 on 2005-09-23
These gloves are comfortable, but I didn't realize that they were 3/4 fingers and that was a little hard to get used to. They are also really warm. But I would buy them again.

  • Durable and comfortable

    By A1DWJXKLP0SU97 on 2007-06-19
Great gloves. I'm not a heavy lifter, but use my gloves on average 3 times a week and these have held up great for about a year. I recently ordered a second pair from Amazon as the others were starting to wear out, but they held up a lot longer than other gloves I've used. The wrist strap gives extra support and I can't imagine lifting with out it now. Great gloves.

  • Good Grip
    By A68W2SEF5G52B on 2007-08-23
For serious weight lifters that want a glove that is beefy enough to last tough work outs for a long time, don't settle for junk you get at Wal-Mart (I tried, and was disappointed).

  • Pleased not quite satisified...
    By A344R0WQMF1ZKB on 2006-01-30
It seems as if the palms were sewn on backwards to the wrong hands, the seller probally had no way of telling. The product is still Quality, But I am concerned about long term performance now. I wold have returned the item at the shippers cost, but I did not notice until the end the work day. Fair is fair I would not want someone to send me back a pair of used sweaty gloves. Could be better...Still not bad...

  • An overall good product
    By A2WUIMI8DWRNPS on 2007-03-26
The gloves have a tight, solid feel, and are made of good materials. The manufacturer describes a new feature, "Innovative curved finger design that offers a natural, flexible and comfortable fit". That sounds good, but does not add any real comfort to the glove. You still have the excess padding when making a fist that makes it more difficult to grab the bar.

    Pros:

Solid feel; good padding; good materials, overall design and craftsmanship; the "No Sweat" wicking system seems to work and there is no dark residue left on the hands after the workout, which is not the case with most manufacturers using cheaper materials.

    Cons:

Excess inner padding affecting the grip; no "easy-off" feature offered by many other manufacturers; a wrist wrap that takes some tweaking to be comfortable.

  • Excellent weight training gloves
    By A1F4O8FA8I4LRY on 2008-02-15
I have bilateral carpal tunnel and I *love* these gloves. They really help keep the wrists straight and help you keep good form. I would thoroughly recommend them. I find the padding on the palm and fingers very comfortable. Definitely worth the money.

  • Great for wrist support.
    By A3L7I5XZ66WCK on 2008-03-02
I purchased these because my left wrist tends to hurt a little when i put a little weight on it. I can definetly tell the difference, my wrist is fine when i am wearing them and they are comfortable.

  • Best I've used
    By A376PZSL6E7GXD on 2008-04-21
I'm on my second pair (eventually you are going to tear them up depending on how hard you work out). Once I'm through these I'll buy them again, I have some wrist problems and these really help out a lot. The way the wrap is incorporated into the glove, IMHO, makes them more effective than just using a wrap.

  • Comfortable and Secure
    By A1TRFWHDM7RXWD on 2006-08-29
I have been using Harbinger wrist wrap gloves for inline skating for over a decade. The new gloves are more comfortable than the last pair. They were a little snug out of the box, but broke in within 3 uses.

  • High quality
    By A635EJI324B01 on 2007-03-11
Very high quality/durability. This glove works well as it should. Only complaint (splitting hairs here) is that it gets pretty hot pretty fast, and your hand will sweat. If you are an extreme sweater, you may want to sacrifice the quality construction of this glove for one that is more well ventilated.

  • Great Gloves
    By ABSVD5PT9SB21 on 2007-10-30
These gloves are very comfortable for tough workouts, they have very good protection for the palm of the hand, I recommend them

  • Gloves that can last over a decade!
    By AVJJ2D4G5I0Z4 on 2008-05-26
These are the greatest gloves EVER. They kept my hands soft for a decade before I lost them.

One note: look at the gloves carefully before accepting them. I had one pair come out of the bag where the stiching of the thumb cloth to the leather was just not stiched.

  • Saves hands and wrists
    By A2QNY7BI0SHK4J on 2008-06-11
These were just what they claim to be - - terrific protection for hands and added support for wrists.

  • Best
    By A2IXZKCYQYWAQF on 2008-08-04
This is the best pair of training gloves you'll ever buy. Wrist wrap gives excellent support and rubber padding is awesome...no slipping.

  • Feels great
    By AF89E25T30F5B on 2007-07-13
These gloves are by far the best I've ever owned. The gel takes up much of the pressure and the wrist straps are very comfortable. If you are looking for a new set of gloves, these are it. The gloves run a bit small so I had to order another set from Med to Lg. These gloves you can tell were built to last. Very well made and easy to clean. These gloves do not shrink like others I've had. But these and you won't be disappointed.

  • I FEEL GREAT WEARING THEM
    By A5GFFEWXNV7IG on 2007-09-25
I BOUGHT THESE AND THEY ARE GREAT...I FEEL MORE STRENGH IN MY HANDS USING THESE GLOVES!

  • BAD QUALITY GLOVES
    By AWH27C7JE3Z3W on 2007-09-28
I got these gloves as a gift in October of 2006 and started using them in November 2006. In September of 2007 with only 10 months of use they developed a hole by the seem where the thumb meets the palm of the hand. I used them 3 times a week on normal relatively new Olympic weight bars. Same usage with Valeo and they lasted me 3 years. When I contacted Harbinger they failed to respond to me basically telling me tough luck. I would STAY AWAY from their gloves since they don't last and they will not back them if they don't. YOU WILL LOSE MONEY ON THESE IF YOU BUY THEM!!!!!!
