Perfect Product for Certain Shuffle Users By A1B9WX7HJ7LLMX on 2005-03-17
Here is the bottom line . . . if you have clear access to your USB ports on the side of your monitor or the front of your computer, then this is not the product for you. However, if you do not have a convenient port on the front of your computer, then this product is perfect. It is very well made and works exceptionally well. In addition, it just plain looks cool sitting in the corner of your desk (especially for Mac users where it complements all of the new Apple hardware especially well). I have the new G5 iMac and just got tired of fishing around behind the display to plug it in. In addition, the USB ports on the back of the iMac seem very tight, whereas the Shuffle slides right into this dock with a reassuring click. So there you have it . . . the perfect product for certain users. Not necessary for others.
Looks versus value By A39KIFR965H0CX on 2005-07-22
Like matching furniture? Suits? Socks? How about a USB extention just for your iPod Shuffle?
That's right, that is all this is: a USB extention cord. Admitedly, most of us need one. The USB ports are on the back of the machine, and reaching around to plug in the iPod is just too much of a pain.
The question is, why pay so much for just an extention cord? Looks. Style. That, and it is an Apple approved device for an Apple made iPod.
If you have the cash, fine. If not, no big deal. Just doesn't have that Apple look.
Do you really need one? By A2C8Y2Z946IOUX on 2005-01-21
The iPod Shuffle dock serves the same purpose as that of the Mini and the iPod 4G dock; easy charging and syncing. But since the Shuffle is already so small, there is no need to plug it up in a dock. It doesn't really need a stand, since it isn't made to look elegant. It's made to look compact and small. I have two USB port's in the front of my CPU casing, so there isn't any need for me to pay $30 to buy a dock. The dock may be a useful buy for those who have their USB ports tucked up behind their PC case, and find it to be pain to locate and plug in their iPod. Yes, the dock does look nice, but then again, does it really have a purpose?
Nice but overpriced By AR3AIL78GW9IV on 2005-04-09
Could not get my Shuffle to work with the front USB ports on my Dell computer. But it works just fine in a rear port.
This dock connector would be a great convenient solution. However I feel it is overpriced at $30.
Useful for Some People By A3PUTVW0XW4KI1 on 2005-02-14
The iPod shuffle dock might seem like a waste of money for those with easy accesable USB ports and the newest iBooks. But some people have computers with less accesability, and just plain can't plug the little Shuffle directly into their CPU. I have a 2000 Paris Edition LE iBook with plastic casings for the shiney white and stylish apple look. The iPod shuffle doesn't plug into it. Just plain doesn't. My friends have also had this problem with their iMacs and eMacs. I think that apple should consider the thousands of people that still have their older products and recognize one of my many mottos. "Just because a company evolves doesn't mean that all of their customers will upgrade." I am one of many people who was very frustrated after being excited about their new ipod shuffle because it would not plug into their computer. At least apple makes something so that it can still look decently nice and work. But it should either come, or be a bit cheaper (maybe 15.00 instead of 30). It's a good idea to keep it safe, and have this as an option, but it might not be necessary, so DO NOT BUY UNTIL YOU HAVE TRIED YOUR SHUFFLE ON YOUR COMPUTER WITHOUT! And you'll be fine.
- The Dock Connector does its job.
     By A3AZ6C22DL3FOG on 2005-09-12
I bought the iPod Shuffle Dock Connector to help my wife keep her iPod Shuffle battery charged. It is very convenient to pop the iPod into the dock whenever it is not in use. Formerly, my wife had some difficulty getting the iPod Shuffle correctly plugged into her iBook and sometimes it failed to charge the battery. Now, she always finds her iPod ready to use - fully charged. When she is finished using the iPod, she easily pops it into the dock. It is a great convenience.
- makes my life easier

This is great, my tower is on the floor so instead of bending down each time I need to charge or change songs I can just plug it in to the nice small dock sitting on my desk. I have had no problems whatsoever with it.
- it looks cool...

but you can get just a cable & it does the job too...
- Trouble with Dell?
     By APKQ6ICM38HOF on 2005-04-24
I bought an ipod shuffle and my Dell would not recognize the ipod when using the front USB ports ( I have a Dell 8400) and the screen went blue. I got so freaked I returned the ipod. I may try it again.
- it's a friggin' USB Extension Cable!!!
     By AYND66RUFELPH on 2005-08-23
How can they even call it a dock connector? It's just a mere usb extension cable, nothing more. u know what? just go and buy urself a USB hub for like $20, and u'll get not only the supposed dock connector, but also, u'll get a few more ports. They need to reduce the price of this thing, no way does this merit $30. If they had at least added a line out and made it a two headed usb cable, then, it might be worth it.
- What I really need...
     By AG71ISNRK2779 on 2005-03-10
is a way to charge the Shuffle while using it away from my home computer.
- To Mac Or Not To Mac
     By A365H2J7UFH5CS on 2005-09-03
Those of you who are pouting that this is an overprized Mac accessory aren't clearly not Mac people --- and for that reason, you probably don't own an Ipod, either (and another brand's comprable MP3 player).
You're either a Mac person or you're not --- Mac people tend to want good performance, good appearance... and they don't care what it costs.
From a technical standpoint, this thing works great. I also use it to plug in my USB mini-drives and it's flawless. If you want it and you care about the Mac-image, then don't 2nd guess and buy a knockoff or USB extension cord. There's no such thing as buyer's remorse for Mac addicts...
- What's the point?
     By APSO4U80018XO on 2005-04-25
What's the point of getting a dock for thirty dollars when you can just get a USB extension cord for (at most) 10 bucks?
- which shuffle do you have?
     By A337PVAGMONJRK on 2007-01-15
Be aware this is not compatable with the newest version of shuffle currently on the market - you need an old shuffle for this to be of any use.
- IPod shuffle Dock
     By A2Z426LLVYVDLB on 2007-02-19
I love it. I wish I had had it right from the beginning. Now is wish I had a connection for the car to hook up my IPod shuffle.
