Accurate, but LCD is NOT as bright as you see here By AM7BCX3ZCQ70V on 2005-05-13
The accuracy and features of this were just what we wanted, but we were no prepared for how poor the LCD display was. You must mount this in a very well lit area to see it.
Note to Amazon: The photo above is misleading. The LCD is NOWHERE NEAR as bright and high contrast as the product photo above. I think I'll post a customer photo that shows it a little more accurately.
I'm wishing I'd have spent a little more for a nicer unit, but not dissatisfied enough to go through the return hassles.

Did you try changing the contrast? It is adjustable. See Page 13 of the manual for instructions.
What's the weather? By A1IU7S4HCK1XK0 on 2006-09-13
We have one of these in our entrance; the outdoor probe is by the front door, an indoor probe in the room and we look at it all the time. I always check the indoor temp to see how the AC needs to be adjusted (we like no more than 10 degrees below outdoor temp) and I look to see what it's doing outdoors. It's right by our stairs and I can't even imagine not having it. I use it all the time.
Nice no-frills temperature station, but inaccurate clock By AH8OFZWSG0N1W on 2007-03-12
This base station is a nice basic unit with a un-cluttered display that is easily read when external light is present. The sensor has held up for at least two months mounted under an eve in the rainy Pacific Northwest and the readings agree well with local public temperature reports. Living approximately 1000 miles from the Boulder CO signal, I have found the weather station clock will only synchronize with the atomic clock signal if left overnight within 2 feet of an outside wall facing Boulder. The clock loses about 1 second/day (3-5 minutes over the daylight savings time period (Mar-Nov)) unless it is in a location that can receive the synchronization signal. For comparison of clock accuracy, my $7 Wal-mart wrist watch (non-atomic) will lose 5-10 seconds over the same 8 month period.
UPDATE: After 14 months the sensor is still going strong on the original battery. I use 1 temperature sensor with 3 receivers (base stations) with no problem. However, it is not possible to use multiple sensors with multiple receivers. The receivers become confused. I still wish the clock was inherently accurate, and didn't depend so much on getting regularly synchronized with the atomic clock signal.
Best Deal for Temps By A13JVVD5Z2UT4A on 2006-12-05
Inexpensive, works well. Previous people noted that their outdoor sensors died on them. I have mines wrapped in plastic wrap inside a ziplock bag. Has been raining so much in Michigan, and just started snowing. Temp has been very accurate inside and outside. Just make sure to protect the outdoor sensor from water. It might look cheesy wrapped in plastic, but that's better than it breaking.

We had a remote thermometer. Some of us live far enough North that the temp drops to -20deg.. This thermometer stops reading at that temp. When I ask what could be done they said we were on our own .don't bother with them there not worth it.
- Good value
     By A39Q0LE0OJ5PMF on 2006-11-09
The automatic-set clock is a very nice feature. If you change the batteries, it takes a few minutes to set itself, assuming it can get a signal from the Ft. Collins broadcast station. That's no problem in Colorado, but it might be a problem in, say, Florida. You may need to take it outside to get a signal.
The central unit has channels for three outside sensors. Mine gets three signals, but I only have two sensors. Maybe a neighbor has one, but it's a little mystifying.
You have to manually reset the max/min values for each channel. Personally, I'd prefer a "last 24 hours" reading, but others might disagree. No big deal either way.
The date reads day.month and is not configurable, unless I read the manual wrong and missed an option somewhere.
The double-stick mounting tape is weak. Use the screws.
Adding another sensor - or changing the batteries in one you already have - means taking the batteries out of the main unit and letting it reset. Give it 15 minutes to find the sensor and reset the clock. Then you have to go through the configuration process again to set time zone, DST, etc.
Figure on precision in the +/- 3-5 degree range. My two sensors read a couple of degrees different even when sitting in the same place. I haven't used a calibrated thermometer to measure accuracy. They seem close enough - within 2-8 degrees of the weather stations in my area.
For the price, this is a bargain. I bought two of them, each coming with one outside sensor and both units see both sensors.
- Inconsistent and Inaccurate
     By A1MFNIZO9K2WVV on 2007-05-13
The remote feature works well. Even through a couple of walls. However the units are not accurate or even consistently inaccurate. When co-located outdoors, they (very) occasionally agree within a couple of tenths of a degree. Mostly they vary by 2 or more degrees. Often they vary by up to 4.9 degrees. You can't even just figure on adding or subtracting a certain amount, or even percentage. The variations are all over the place!
Customer service responded quickly, but I certainly didn't like the answer. They said that behavior is normal and to be expected, stataing "All electronic devices have similar tolerances." (I wonder if the health care industry is aware of that!)
If you just want a generalized idea of temperature, the product is fine; if you want anything like a real reading, look elsewhere.
- Stopped working after one day
     By A23A3FEXAMBOIJ on 2006-11-09
I had the remote unit outside and under my garage roof overhang. It may have gotten a litle wet but it wouldnt have been much. Whats the point of putting it outside if it cant withstand the elements. I would not recommend this purchase. Put an outdoor analog type theromometer out instead. Not recommended.
- Excellent Wireless Temperature Station
     By A1TE1928BI3953 on 2006-03-08
Received the unit in excellent condition at the expected time. Following the instructions, the unit is easy to setup. I had the unit functioning in less than 10 minutes, excluding mounting. We are very pleased with the operation and accuracy of the unit.
- I don't have this model but do have WS7212 and love it!
     By A3P45WRDDCNLWT on 2006-05-19
I have had my model for a couple of years and other than a battery change, it has been great. Mine has 2 stations, one that I keep in the kitchen and one in the family room. My only advice is to find a place for your outdoor sensor so that it is out of the direct sun or that will skew your outdoor readings severely. Love it and would buy again in a second.
- I love this thing! Easy, cheap, and it works great.
     By A35KZX39O1IHUE on 2006-12-20
I bought this in June along with the TX3U (wireless waterproof probe) to use with my hot tub. It's worked out really well; it allows me to see the indoor temperature and the hot tub temperature at a glance, and one press of the button to view the outside temperature. The atomic clock feature is great especially at this price point, it's always right and I don't have to worry about keeping it set. I've had no issues at all with contrast or readability, and all 3 items (the station, the outdoor sensor, and the probe sensor) are still going strong on the same batteries after 6 months.
I know people who spent 3 times as much on setups to get the same functionality with atomic clock, 3 temperature monitoring points, etc. There's no weather prediction on this model, but for covering all the basics, there's just no way to beat this unit.

- Great temperature station
     By APOG7D40A499S on 2006-08-29
I ordered this from Amazon for just over $13. If you follow the manual that comes with the temperature station you shouldn't have any problem (batteries in wireless sensor first, put devices within 5 feet of each other to initialize, etc). I rushed ahead and the station didn't read the wireless sensor at first. Someone previously wrote the display is hard to see. There is an option to change the contrast of the display on a scale from 1 to 7. I put mine on 7 and can read it from 20 feet away. The station is a little over 5 1/2" high by 3" wide. My wireless sensor is mounted outside from about 25 feet away and the station picks up the signal without any problems. Overall I'm very satisfied.
- Good idea - poor product
     By A21V0NVGW70HU7 on 2007-01-07
I ordered this product and with usual Amazon speed it arrived in a few days. The product was as ordered and worked well for a about a week. Unfortunately, the outside temperature stopped working. I tried new batteries, etc, etc, but after determining that I could not get it to start working again, I contacted Amazon who replaced the unit within two days.
The replacement unit worked for less than 3 days exhibiting the same problem with the outside remote sensor.
I have replaced this unit with a different model from a different manufacturer.
Amazon was very responsive and refunded my purchase price and paid for the return shipping.
- trouble with setting
     By A2FEGF03NGJA0A on 2007-02-19
having trouble getting it set - the outdoor temperature is off by about 5 degrees and can't get it to reset - nice looking unit - easy to read - difficult to get set up
- Not very accurate
     By A31EINJ9SROZM1 on 2008-01-18
The wireless thermometer gives a reading 3-6 degrees higher than other thermometers I have (which I believe are accurate). When other thermometers read 0F, this one reads 6F, at 32F, this one reads 36F and when other ones read 60F, this one reads 63F.
I wrote a note to the manufacturer, and was told that there is no way to calibrate the unit. They told me that I could return it if I was unhappy.
- LIGHT DISPLAY

BUT OTHERWISE FINE. DISTANCE OF THE SENSOR NOT A PROBLEM. LIKE IT A LOT.
- Highly Recommended
     By A2LQSQCGPPE9HJ on 2006-01-13
Very accurate and easy to set up. I would definitely recommend this item.
My only "complaints" are that it takes 5 minutes for the outdoor temperature to update and it's a bit slow responding to sudden changes in temperature.
- So far, so good
     By AZLYIET1TXBK2 on 2006-09-11
I purchased two WS-9013U wireless stations. I put one remote sensor outside and have the two inside stations in different rooms displaying the information from the one remote sensor. So I have have a spare sensor if anything ever happens to the first one. Everything works great and the display is very readable, up close or from a distance.
- Outside Temp Stopped Working
     By AMU84EBCH1HI2 on 2006-11-27
I recieved 2 temp gauges for Xmas last year. I gave this one to my neighbors I kept the other one (Oregon Scien). Mine still works great, my friends does not do outside temp anymore. We replaced the batteries, cleaned the sensors but nothing work. I guess you get what you pay for with this product.
- Very Easy To Set Up
     By A10D3ZJ7KSJV42 on 2006-12-31
Can't be any easier that placing batteries in the transmitter first then the Wireless monitor and through "magic" the date/time sets itself and calibrated to the wireless transmitter. (Make sure you put the batteries in the transmitter first!!). I also bought a second transmitter to place on on the front and one at the back of the house.
I also followed one of the other review's advice and place the transmitter in a zip lock bag (actually 2) and hid it in an inconspicuous place outside. My old transmitter got rained on no matter where I placed it and I think it evenutally died out.
Large display but remember there is no backlight. But even without it you can see the numbers very clearly.
- Wireless Temperature Station by LaCrosse
     By A64SJRWA188G1 on 2007-01-05
The price was good. The unit seems to work well. The outside monitor does not have a separate temperature screen. This is ok with me since I am usually looking at the main unit. The numbers are large. There is no backlight which makes for difficult reading in dark situations.
- Works Well
     By A2WHQZXGP0DOYS on 2007-11-15
This "temperature station" was easy to set up and seems to display accurate temperatures. During set-up, the base unit automatically picked up the correct date and time within 30 minutes from the time batteries were installed. The time displayed is accurate and the time also automatically updated for the change from daylight savings to standard time.
The remote sensor (which measures the outside temperature) is installed in my carport on the north side of my house. I have placed the base unit at several different locations in my home. The most distant location from the remote sensor was about 40-45 feet. The remote transmitted the correct outside temperature to the base unit at each location, even though several walls and one floor separated the two devices at the most distant location.
I have had this temperature station for about two weeks and, of course, do not know whether this level of performance will continue as the batteries wear down or, for that matter, how long the batteries will last. But at this point, I am very satisfied.
Update 11/15/2008: It has more than one year since this Temperature Station was set up and it has operated continuously without any problems. While the Amazon Product Description states to change batteries annually for "best results," the original batteries are still installed and I have noticed no decline in performance.
- Great Product! Slightly Finicky Setup Procedure......
     By A6CAYJIV2Z9B2 on 2007-11-30
Overall, I am very pleased with the temperature station. The setup procedure is a little finicky and I think this is where many people are having problems because if the setup instructions are not followed correctly it will NOT work with the remote sensor. The key is to establish an initial communications link between the remote sensor(s) and the base station. Here's how:
1. Make sure all batteries are out of the remote sensor(s) and base station.
2. Install batteries "first" in the remote sensor (being very careful to observe proper battery polarity) and place it on a table.
If you have more than one remote sensor (up to 3), also install the batteries in those at this time and place them all on the table separated about 3 inches apart.
3. Next install the batteries in the base unit (again being careful to observe plus and minus) and place the unit 3 to 5 inches apart from the remote sensor(s) on the table. Be sure NOT to push any buttons on the base station for at least 15 minutes. During this time the base is establishing communications with the remote sensor(s).
4. After the 15 minute period, mount the remote sensor in the desired locations being careful to pick a spot that will not be too wet or the remote will become damaged by water.
(You would think they could make a sensor that was at least rainproof, wouldn't ya?)
It is very important to remember that when it is time to change the batteries, the entire setup procedure will have to be re-initiated all over again. This is also true if you add sensors at a later date; take all batteries out and go through all of the above steps again....
I would also add that I had no issues with the display being too dim as one reviewer wrote; I think maybe that particular unit may have been defective.
- Can be used by a simpleton
     By A3DJ5NK5NPOVOJ on 2007-01-29
I had done a reasonable amount of research in order to get something to satisfy my 'needs'. This is what I came up with. Being a simpleton, I put in the batteries w/o reading the operator's manual. I'd probably get more out of it if I did read. With the remote right next to the base station, it registered with no problem. Have yet to test its actual range. The remote's about 6 ft away at this time. It's doing mainly what I wanted it for: inside and outside temps. Being a wireless unit is nice. I didn't want to run wiring through the window frame or door. I have not compared to another thermometer, but the remote seems to transmit reasonably accurate. Down to 24°F so far. Please note: I rate things consertatively. I gave 4 stars when most others would give 5. As far as other negative reviews, I felt this is like any other mass produced product: there's a chance of getting a bad one (I've had my share). With electronic stuff, if it's ok for the first month, it'll probably last a long time. It's been about a month, and no problems so far...Enjoy!
- Maybe it's too cold for it in Maine
     By A1YBUGLWZMWXCA on 2007-03-31
I have yet to get it to work with the outside sensor. The one time it did work for a while, it was off the next morning. I have had another brand that worked for a number of years. I may have just gotten a dud. It happens. All of it works fine except for the outside sensor portion which is the chief reason I purchased it.
- Interesting Temperature Readings
     By A25EUIIQ523VU3 on 2007-09-26
I bought this because an older model's outdoor transmitter, which lasted for years, stopped working. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the older model pick up this model's signal, so now I have two display (receiver) units.
I got an interesting result after going through the setup (which worked as described and is pretty simple). With the outdoor transmitter sitting 3" from both receivers, both displays show the same outdoor temperature. However, the indoor temperature on the older model was a degree hotter while the indoor temperature on this model was 4 degrees cooler. There were just inches apart.
Other than that, it works as advertised. I really like the atomic clock feature, which resets the date and time automatically every night.
- Great Product!
     By A2G67RBXV0IQL2 on 2007-10-22
I purchased this for my doghouse (which is actually a 'pighouse' since my Pot Belly Pig uses it). I monitor the temperature inside the doghouse (which is far from my house), while still the display is inside my house. It is EXTREMELTY helpful to monitor the highs and lows daily, to make sure my little pig is comfortable (I love in Phx, which can get qutie cold, as well as HOT). I can see what the temperature is by looking that the remote display in my living room, without having to go all the way outside (and inside the doghouse) to see what the temperature is. The High\Low is very useful too! I can clearly read the large display, which was a concern in another review, so not sure how they had the display contrast set. The price is extremely affordable, for such a high-tech piece of equipment, and I have the sensor about 80 feet away from the display - and it has no problem transmitting that far (through the doghouse wall - and through our exterior wall. I highly recommend this product, and I am not easily impressed!
- Works very well
     By A2S9OBHX4F1RO9 on 2006-09-08
I haven't had this weather station very long. I really like the fact that it has large, easy to read numbers & that the clock/date are set by the automic clock.
