  • Not the best tool for the job

    By A3E0R6ODIIYUMZ on 2006-01-21
I got it today. Its a real hassle to assemble, I was very persistent and managed to put it together in a concentrated effort. It actually may be impossible for some users to assemble.
The rubber tubes providing hand support and hold the central wheels in place are very difficult to put on. Also the central wheels are a little shaky since there is nothing really to hold them in place and their base is not very wide. This is a very strange design choice. I have seen other products that worked much better.
Other then that it seems to be working ok.

  • It works, but you've got to use it.

    By A1QEWGUL7NAW3I on 2006-01-06
I have a similar two-wheel roller, purchased back in the 1960's for about the same cost -- wheels a tad wider, but that doesn't affect how it works. This is a great aid for strengthening and toning back, abdomen, arms, and thighs, as you get down on your knees and roll the unit back and forth -- and you decide just how far back and forth you can go comfortably -- you still get the benefits. (And if you find yourself lying on the floor, it just means you went too far forward -- lighten up a little!)

P.S.: yes, my old one still works beautifully after 40-odd years, and this one should last years too.

  • nice

    By A3E32UI52HINBX on 2006-03-18
Got it at a great price. Nice burn from using it. I don't know that 2 wheels makes it better, but it does the job.
Only gripe was that it was almost impossible to put the foam handle on over the metal bar, that was a workout by itself, had to use all knowledge of physics and all brute strength in fingers to get job done.

  • Pretty Good Workout

    By A2SCJZ5HXSRNGX on 2006-01-25
Honestly I was surprised at the crappy quality of this thing; the only thing holding the wheels in place is the rubber handle, so it's a little floppy. It serves its purpose though, I guess.

The workout it provides is pretty good. Got this thing today, did a few sets with it, and can definitely feel it in my abs, though you have to watch your form carefully as it's easy to arch your back.

Works the shoulders and arms pretty hard, too.

  • This is a Demon!

    By A27IWOGNKLUEWO on 2007-04-22
everyone is right, it's very difficult to put together, and really may be impossible. My solution; Pam! I attempted to put the grips on and it wasnt working until I sprayed it with Pam. Then it went on pretty good.
Otherwise, it's working great, i've lost about 8 lbs in a week and a half from it, I've changed my eating habits a little bit, but ot a lot. I still drink coke and 151 every night, and have snacks. i just added salad to dinners, which we bar-b-que, and drink more water during the day. The first time i used it i was sore for days, probably because i did it for 15 minutes. You should only do it for like 3-5 a day.

well i hope this was helpful!
i reccommend it, just used Pam, and dont do it too long.

  • Extremely Effective
    By A36NVKRJ7ZASUD on 2006-08-28
The ab wheel is very well made and contrary to what others have said, if you take the time to snug the grips up tight, the wheels do not wobble at all. As for the workout, it's extremely difficult, but also extremely effective. 10 reps and you feel a burn that lasts for two days! After using 3 times a week for the last three weeks, I've noticed a great difference in the tighness in my abs. Recommended.

  • great!
    By A1ZNAHT6FB5ZSG on 2006-07-20
I really love this thing, I am not a typical excercising type of person, the extent of my workouts includes stretching, walking and jumprope. the abwheel is perfect for a low impact ab workout, and it even strengthens your back!! Great for me, since after a rough pregnancy I can't even do one situp!

  • Valeo Ab wheel
    By A3OXD1BWNLUX0A on 2006-04-17
this worked pretty well the first time I used it. And it was nearly impossible to put the rubber grips onto the handle. BUT I figured that if you coat the metal in some vaseline, it slides right on and will eventually stay after a few hours. The key is to put a LITTLE cream or else it wont dry and keep sliding off. GOOD PRODUCT THO jus learn how to use it cuz u can strain ur back!

  • Good product except for the assembly issue.
    By A1WYHYXYZCSZ3X on 2007-05-05
Like the other reviews, I had a bear of a time getting this thing assembled properly. A Tip: putting a bit of silicone spray on the bar allows the rubber tube to slide on quite easily. Other than that, it works great and was a pretty good price.

  • Gets the job done and good price
    By A1JIKP7MDXVC9O on 2007-08-03
Works great. The dual wheels add a little extra stability. As far as other reviews griping about the difficulty in putting the handles on, its no bid deal. Just rub a small amount of vasoline inside grip and it slides right on. No problem.

  • Caution required, but does the job
    By ALXPNINIOQPR0 on 2007-08-03
While I was hesitant due to the less than stellar reviews on here, I thought I'd try it. Assembly is the worst part of this product. I got a tremendous hand work-out trying to get the handle on in order to secure the wheels in place. Took a good 30 to 40 minutes of constant pressuring it on, millimeter by millimeter. Once it was on and I used it, I was amazed. I feel a difference after doing just 10 or 20 "rolling motions" back and forth. You do have to be careful of your back when extending too far forward, but this does a great job of toning the abs and arms. The Valeo white label on the handle should be better placed. After wrenching the handle on and using the piece, it continues to wear off quickly in your hand. Other than those challenges, I actually really like this alternative to the boring sit-up.

  • Gets the job done...
    By A2LPBW1PFMXEQD on 2007-10-03
Assembly is a real work out my gosh i had to spray the handle with wd40 to get the foam grip on... my gosh it was difficult to put on... but after thats over its a pretty good concept... the workout does seem promising based on after effects... the wheel is a bit shaky but that can be dealt with... overall an okay buy...

  • Highly recommened
    By A34VZUDVYWQN3Q on 2007-03-09
You get a great ab, back and arm workout with this ab roller! I tried an ab roller with one wheel, but it was very difficult to maintain your balance. This ab roller provies you with more stability and gives you the same great workout! Definetly a must-have for bathing suit season!

  • Wheel on a stick
    By A2N7KGDEAB7XOC on 2007-06-14
Works like a wheel on a stick should work. Hard to put the one end of the handle on when you first assemble it, but rolls smoothly.

  • Sturdy, decent ab wheel
    By AWVFPXEH79YV2 on 2007-07-17
The dual wheels give this product more stability than the single wheel version I owned years ago. After spraying the metal rod with WD40, the rubber grip slid right on. The Valeo ab wheel is sturdy and I have no doubt it will last for a long while. Not much more to say about this; it's two plastic wheels, seperated by an inch long spacer, on a metal rod.

  • Ab Wheel....
    By A2X9G2K0HJWAEB on 2008-06-28
Bought this program after reading one of those "Get 6-pack" stuff online. And it gives a nice workout! Heard about it...wasn't too sure about it but it's worth it! As a person who works out regularly i recommend this equipment for any1. Easy to assemble! Have fun..hope this helped...

  • Works well, but largely unnecessary
    By A2XOCDETTAKRBB on 2007-10-07
This device certainly gives a good muscle burn, and actually works the lower back more than the abdominals. This is something to consider if you have back problems.

Now, while this device IS indeed effective at what it does, after having used it, (with other abdominal exercises,) for a number of months, I can say that a good number of bicycle crunches, reverse crunches, and plank exercises will just as effectively work your abdominal muscles, for free.

To get the flat tummy we all want, I am afraid no machine is going to be a magic bullet, (since you cannot spot-reduce,) and this is one more example of that.

  • Good Product
    By A3VF2SFMJYTDWW on 2008-01-08
This item does as advertised. Had absolutely no problem putting it together (just use a little liquid soap).

  • This is a nice addition to a home gym.
    By A1JPU6WD4IHHYQ on 2008-01-19
Inexpensive and challenging, but not the only thing one should do to improve abs. However, it is priced right and sturdy! Good buy!

  • Hard to put handle on
    By A1USRXU9PA6HME on 2008-02-13
In theory it is a great product and I am still able to use it. When you assemble it you have to slide the second handle on to metal bar to hold the wheels in place (it is similar to a rubber bike handle on an old school huffy). It is very hard to slide on all the way. My handle hangs off the bar by about an inch so this causes the wheels to shift position, not a huge deal, but would be better if it assembled properly.

  • Gives a Great Ab Exercise
    By A1V65GYFAC5HMH on 2008-03-27
I didn't have any problems putting it together mainly because I read the reviews here at Amazon before purchasing one and saw a review where someone used a small amount of petroleum jelly to help the grip slide in.
The wheels may seem a bit shaky but, when its being used and your weight is on it, it'll do its job. And don't worry the wheels won't slide off the sides.
I didn't have any experiences using an ab wheel before so at first I was wondering why a lot of people would have difficulty with this device when it seemed like a simple enough exercise. I was completely wrong! At first, It was really hard to do those full extensions and I could feel my abs burning (which for me, is a good sign which means its getting worked out pretty good) and I felt my back being toned too.
Overall, it does its job well. And its an exercise piece that's small enough to store easily and its absolutely worth the money. Its a great buy!

  • Defective by design
    By AZXX7L6ABGC06 on 2008-05-02
It was really hard to assemble. The handle cover was too tight and would not come in.

  • AB Workout
    By A1JJ7OYDZEE5WD on 2008-08-17
This machine really works your Abs. At first, you will have some back pain, but after that everything is okay!

  • Great Abdominal workout
    By A15JXA51RWGKWI on 2008-08-25
I purchased three wheels for family and friends. Not only is it a great gift for the hard to buy for, but also inexpensive. As my son is starting to workout, his friends became interested in how this wheel in his room worked. After showing them how to use the wheel, everyone wanted to try it! It started out to be a try it, which lead to a competition that had everyone trying to outdo the others. It made for a lot of fun and laughs. I suggest anyone that would like to do ab workouts to try this inexpensive wheel and see how well it truly works. It not only gave them something to do but was fun as well as physical. My son now has a great six pack going, and enjoys showing off his flat hard stomach!

  • Simple & Affordable
    By A37JPARDE19LFV on 2008-09-06
I read reviews on this product and had mixed feelings. The double wheel for stability sold me on it. People who claimed that it was challenging to build are wrong. Unless a defect, it was a very simple step to build it. It would be a 5-star if the handles were a made of foam, it hurts a bit when trying to get a grip after awhile. But with consisent practice, you will see results. You feel the burn. Start off from a wall, and slowly work your way back. Be cautious of lower back sufferers. Still a great and cheap AB product.
**I recently traveled, and the hotel I stayed in had this wheel in their gym, so its good enough**
