Bosch 4410L 15-Amp 10-Inch Dual Bevel Sliding Compound Miter Sawx$498.98
    (81 reviews)
Best Price: $498.98
10", Dual Bevel Slide Miter Saw With Up Front Controls & Laser Tracking, 15A Motor, 4,800 RPM, Up Front Bevel Lock Lever & Range Selector Knob, Easily Accessed Controls For Quick & Acccurate Bevel Settings, Arbor Mounting Laser Tracking, Provides Accurate Laser Lines For Precision Cuttting, Multi Positioned Main Handle, Easily Locks Into Any Of 4 Positions For Optimum Comfort & Control, Crown Miter Detents, Exclusive Wedge & Slot Miter Detent Sysytem. This is what a miter saw ought to be: accurate, sturdy, powerful, versatile, user-friendly and packed full of cool features. If we had to choose a favorite aspect, it would have to be the handle. It’s vertical. It’s horizontal. And it’s a couple of other things in between. It locks quickly and easily into any of four positions, so both lefties and righties have complete comfort and control. This saw is beefy -- it weighs in at 55 pounds and it’s got a nice, wide footprint that promises the ultimate stability, and sliding extensions bring your support area to 37-1/4 inches. If you’re in the market for a stand for this saw as well, we like both the Bosch TracRac as well as the DeWalt DW723. The dual bevel is a great feature, swinging 47 degrees left and 46 degrees right, with positive bevel stops at 31.6 and 33.9 degrees for flawless crown molding cuts. For miter cuts, the blade swings an impressive 52 degrees left and 60 degrees to the right. There’s even a micro-fine adjustment here, letting you override a detent by as much as 2 degrees. Now that’s precision. We absolutely love the fence on this saw – Bosch calls it a Speed-track sliding fence – because it’s a full 4 inches tall and has a beautifully readable inch-scale on it. It’s perfect for crown molding, handling pieces up to 6 inches wide when angled against the fence. We’re suddenly rethinking our earlier statement about our favorite feature on this saw; on second thought, it might well be that all the controls – including the bevel lever – are up front. We’re pretty tired of reaching around a saw body to set a bevel, so this is a most welcome upgrade. Adjustments are so much faster and easier, and all the scales are right up front, too. Capacities are generous, thanks to the slide, with a max cut of a 2-by-12 at a 45-degree bevel and 3-5/8 by 12 inches when the blade is upright. And yes, this saw has a laser cutting guide, but unless you really want one, we wouldn’t let that sway a decision on this saw one way or the other. It’s a nice feature if you’re likely to use it, but most of us woodworkers prefer to get a visual on exactly where that blade meets the wood. In all, this is a beauty of a saw, with features you aren’t going to find on other saws in its class. And we still can’t pick our favorite between the handle and the up-front controls. It’s all good. -- Kris Jensen-Van Heste

My Experience with the Bosch 4410L By A35I083U6H5J05 on 2005-05-24
For starters, please pay close attention to several reviews of the Bosch 4410 (which is essentially the same saw minus the laser) by professional finish carpenters. It is true that everybody has biases, but overall, if the pros don't like it, chances are you won't in the long run.
I picked up my Bosch 4410L at the freight depot on the way to the job-site one morning a couple weeks ago. It arrived in great condition - thanks Amazon! I was excited to try out my new saw. Well, I have to say that despite all the great design concepts that the Bosch has, its actual performance fell far short of expecations. This 500.00 saw was not nearly as accurate as my 199.00 RIDGID chop saw! The cuts were wavy, probably due to the issues noted in some of the other reviews. For fine trim work, this saw is unacceptable, which is a shame because I really liked some of the features. I sent the Bosch back the next day and got a Hitachi C10FSH. I'm glad I did.
'ACCURACY' is a missing word for this saw ! By AC6S8GBD5GKXE on 2005-03-16
Well, I was all excited that Bosch came with Laser on their new saw but this saw is something you want to avoid if you want perfection and accuracy. I checked the cuts/angles with Incra angles / squares and found that this saw needs major Quality control.
No matter what you do, blade does not cut straight and then you will realize that all the gadgets, this saw comes with it, are worthless since you cannot make this saw make True 90 degree cuts.
I have spent almost 2 days trying to figure out what can be wrong and then I realized that there was a problem with arbor. Fence had some issues to make true 90 degrees cuts.
Laser on this saw is a joke !. It is mounted on arbor on left side so you have to guess where it will cut. There will be always a gap of 0.1" or more between actual cut and laser line.
Why the heck then I need a laser ????.
In short, Avoid this saw and I am very disappointed with this Bosch machine. Do not read reviews in magazines since first look and feel is very impressing but check the angles and you will realize that this machine needs Quality control.
Dust bag is another issue since it accumulates only 20% dust and 80% dust is out of bag.
Blade is OK but I changed it to Freud Ultra fine finish and was getting much much better cuts.
I am not sure why some magazines gave such a good review but take my advise, stick with makita or dewalt and don't get impressed by reviews or all the gadgets this saw has since 'ACCURACY' is a missing word here with this saw .
Avoid this Saw !
very very nice By A3NMWWDZ62ZLYV on 2006-01-08
I consider myself to be an intermediate woodworker. Using various joints including dovetails, mitres, and other multifaced joints in my work. I bought the 4410l to do a house full of baseboard and some crown moulding and am very pleased with the performance of this saw. Right out of the box, which arrived in only 4 days, the saw produced machinist square cuts and absolutely "light tight" crown cuts. ALL angles came dead accurate from the factory. The laser is just a wow factor and the dust collection isn't the greatest but the cuts this slider makes are a thing of beauty and ease, even with the supplied blade. I honestly don't understand the negative reviews about accuracy with this unit. I have the 10" Bosch contractors saw and its performance was what led me to this sliding mitre saw, Bosch was up to the task again. Fit,finish, upfront controls, the micro fine adjustment was wonerful on the crown cuts,...all great. This is good saw and I recommend it highly.
dont believe the negative reviews - this is one excellent tool By A3LGME5AAFPZUY on 2006-02-22
i was dissapointed to read the negative reviews by others regarding this great tool. i am replacing a makita ls 1013 saw with this one, i have been using the makita brutally for about five years (finish work, cabinets, framing) - it has been great but i was never satisfied with how difficult it was to square the fence to the blade - the adjustment always needed to re re-adjusted; the dual slides became very dirty and difficult to operate and the miter pivot got clogged a lot.
i am impressed with the quality of features and the thoughtfulness of the levers, guages, etc. on the bosch 4410. i really like the way the motor is placed up behind the blade, keeping it out of the way. the saw has tons of power - scary power really. i had heard that there was a lot of plastic on the bosch saws - not so. there is of course some - but most everything is quality machined aluminum - very nice. most of the knobs and pins are coated with a plastic or rubber. all the controls are up front and very intuitive. i really like the operational instructions on a sticker on the saw - very easy to follow. the fact that the two extension wings slide out from the base of the saw is really nice - i was always hunting for those bar supports on the makita.
the saw came securely boxed wrapped in a durable plastic sheet. cut perfectly the first time. i love the high level of visability to either side of the blade and the pivoting top handle is a nice addition.
in short, i could not be more pleased with the quality, function, accuracy and finish of this saw. i tested the squareness of the blade - it was dead on right out of the box. I love the micro adjust feature as well - beats a hammer and a block of wood.
the folks at bosch have really produced a quality machine that i am sure will last for years to come.
if i could give it six stars i would. again, dont be swayed by the negative reviews - i am not sure where that came from...
Too Much Hype for a Low Quality Product By A1USQWKLCDVL46 on 2006-02-24
Before purchasing my Makita LS1013 and LS1013L sliders, I did do a lot of research on what saw I was going to buy. I did purchase the dw718, it has a nice concept, but falls way short of what it is supposed to be! This saw was another contender for my pocket book. Anyway, after borrowing a new one from my friend to try out I have to say, I am glad I NEVER purchased this saw!
Why? Well here is the why! Out of the box the bevels were out, so I fixed that in a hour or so with no issues (one should never be afraid to recalibrate their saw-even if you spend 500 dollars or more, they are made by man and nothing is perfect! If is isn't out, hurray; if it is, take the time to fix it!) Firstly, as compared to proven saws out there (ls1013, c10fsh, dw708), the head slop is just too much. Dewalt and Bosch must have worked together on this part, they both (de718 / 4410L) suffer too much head slop. The four position handle (by the way, Bosch, prides itself on making ergonomic tools) while nice, is too plasticy and needs to be better attached to the powerhead. The buttons used to move the (four position) handle are easily broken, and if broken the repair bill will be too much. The fact that I have all the controls up front seems nice, but with too many moving parts it is bound to fail. Note the bevel lock lever had to be adjusted so it wasn't so tight to operate, once the tool cover was off (behind the saw), I adjusted it properly! Ever wonder why DeWalt, Makita, or Hitachi have not done the same type of non-sense. It is not due to patent issues, they realized long ago that a saw is proven thru simplicity, not hype and gadgets! They are smart enough to realize that simple will simply outlast complex mechanics. Too many moving parts is just more money to spent in the long run when it breaks down!
The mitre scale is physically cast into the base, just looking at it and you wonder how can one finely adjust odd mitres, when the mitre lines are literally a 16th of an inch wide! That means that lines are too thick. The micro works but, for the time it takes to dial-in the correct mitre, it is just easier to use the main mitre lock knob and dial it in yourself! The detents (also machined into the based are nice and large, but the large mitre pin that engages the aluminum, is made of PLASTIC! While I used the saw, it was very accurate on the mitres (but since the main mitre pin is plastic, how can it hold accuracy in the longterm?--steel is better!) Again, such ingenuity questions quality. The detent override feature works flawlessly. Yet, what is more weird is why the main mitre pin is plastic, and the micro-adjust knob is steel. The one you use more is cheaper made than the one you use the least; the more used should be made better (am I wrong for thinking too logically here!) More to wear out and gradually and replace! Why does only Bosch use plastic for their mitre pin? Hmmmmmm..........
Bosch has seemed to fix their arbour issue with newer generations of this model, however, the laser marker that came with mine, only lights up the left kerf of the blade. This is true for all models, now what if I want to bring the laser on the other side; well you can't! Every other major laser system allows left and right, not Bosch. As a note, Bosch and Ridgid use the same style of laser system (a mercury centrifugal force switch). The tool less, built-in saw extensions are nice, but compared to Makita, are too shallow! At least Makita makes their 7 inches deep (from the fence); no one has that feature except Makita!
Since the RPM is 4800, Makita is like 3700, the Bosch noise is deafening; but, the power is nice for a belt driven saw. Direct drives are still more powerful. The slides are nice and smooth and the fence is high. I do really like the high fence and the built in ruler (it is cast into the fence); this is nice to help measure rough pieces for framing for example! They slide nice and provide ideal support for crown moulding. The mitre swing is huge, more than 110 degrees (52 left, 60 right). I really like how there are many handles by which to grab and carry the saw; the cord wrap on the slides is handy too. Dust collection is good, but not great; way better than the dw718 that's for sure! The blade that comes with it is good enough for most tasks. Put a Ridge Carbide rs-1000 (80 tooth) blade on your saw, and see how well your saw will perform!
Overall, nicely thought out machine, but the for the fact that it has too much plastic; and Bosch forgot the little things that allow a slider to be consistent, it is a saw that I would not purchase. I will give Bosch credit, there saw's mitre scale and bevel are very accurate (just keep checking it for accuracy)! For those who own it, take care of it, and keep checking the saws accuracy on a consistent basis (bevels and mitres). Even if yours is fine out of the box, one should still check it. My Makita is checked weekly (I make furniture part time), and I find that it holds its accuracy impeccably, but I guess I am too fussy! Which is good in some respects because the saw does not need to be recalibrated a 10th of what the Bosch needs to. So the Bosch does have some features, but for the long term it will NOT hold up. Take care!!!...
- Bosch 4410L 10" Dual Bevel Slide Miter Saw with Laser Tracking
     By A14GTN2B6GN0ZC on 2005-11-12
For every one out there, the Bosch 4410L is a great saw.
Pro
-On board tool storage for adjustments and blade change
-Up front release for bevel/compound cuts and a max bevel override that does not require you to true it 45 degrees afterward, like the Hitachi C10FSH
-Quick and fine adjustment for depth of cut
-Standard adjustable table extension
-Adjustable trigger handle
-Miter scale is cast (not a sticker like Hitachi C10FSH
-When truing the saw use machinist squares/triangles or a quality combination square and the settings will REMAIN TRUE by far longer than the Hitachi 10" or the Dewalt 12" slide compound
-ect........
Con
-the laser is a 1/32 away from the actual cut and is only active while the blade is spinning
-dust collection is ok but, what slide compound has great dust collection?
-Read the instructions before using the micro adjustment knob
-6 pounds heavier than the Hitachi C10FSH
-you will have to replace the blade
I've owned the Dewalt 12", Hitachi 10" and recently the Bosch 10" slide compound and it is by far the best saw out of the three I've used.
In general the saw is a little complicated but read the directions and you'll be happy.
- Very impressive saw
     By A2MCDQZL9EZ43W on 2006-09-03
I had a 10 inch Delta dual bevel compound miter saw for several years, but wanted to buy a slider to increase the cross cut capacity. I also did a bit of research like others who have reviewed this saw. It seems a few years ago many saws had trouble with play in the sliding mechanism, but that seems to have been resolved for the most part in the new saws. Some of the negative reviews here scared me a bit, but I was convinced to buy this saw after reading a saw to saw comparison of six sliding compound miter saws (SCMS) in Fine Woodworking (October 2006). This saw was their top pick so, I decided to purchase from Amazon. If you are considering buying a 10 inch SCMS, I highly recommend reading the review in Fine Woodworking. The review gives a detailed comparison of the saws using identical cutting tests.
The saw arrived via UPS without any problems. I checked all angles for accuracy with set up, and everything was dead on right out of the box. No adjustments for my saw! The blade is high quality - about the level of a CMT blade, but probably not up to Forrest blade standards. Yes, the dust collection is about average, but I have not seen a saw that collects anywhere near all the dust produced. The one negative is the laser. It is not accurate, so do not expect it to be. If you need a saw that has an accurate laser, this is not it. However, I have read the only saw that does have an accurate laser is the Delta 12 inch chop saw. Delta no longer makes a SCMS. So, it seems right now no one offers a SCMS with an accurate laser.
So, bottom line, this is a great saw, that easily has 12 inch crosscut capacity (my old delta was only about 4.5 inch capacity. Another great feature to keep in mind is the up front bevel lock, rather than the lock being placed in the back of the saw table as most brands do. My saw was ready out of the box.
- Accuracy, Ease of use - A definate saw to have!
     By AJ06GQCV5973K on 2005-04-12
I give this saw 5 stars!
*Accuracy
*Ease of use
*Power
*Versatility
*Portability
Out of the box, this saw has exceeded all my expectations. The accuracy and adjustability is only topped by the addition of a laser guide line. The saw is easy to use and maintain, and has more than enough power to cut what you need cut. Sandpaper soft cuts in 3x oak is not usually the story with most saws, but this saw had power to spare! This saw is extremely versatile, easily changing from a chop saw to a sliding saw - from a miter saw to a bevel saw. This saw even does things I did not expect, like cut grooves in boards, because of the adjustable depth stop. Although it would not be a bad idea to have a helper to carry the saw, it was not too bulky to be handled and moved.
I highly recommend this saw. I am not usually this easily swayed (especially at items that cost so much) but this saw is a lifesaver and is worth every penny!
- great ergonomics, great cutting right out of the box
     By A3KDRW7K8WP1PM on 2006-11-08
Bosch spent a good bit of time making this saw ease to use and adjust, and as a left-hander, this is the first in recent memory that makes the cut easy to do with the left hand _without_ a vertical handle. In fact, the main handle can be oriented just about however you like.
Cutting and accuracy were very good right out of the box. I was within a half degree of square and plumb according to my Starrett, and the instructions with the saw made it easy to adjust. Common miter and bevel angles are accurate.
The upfront controls for the bevel are a little bit soft - a multiposition knob feels a little vague when setting, but that is a relatively minor nit. The laser sight is decent, but it is only really accurate at a given height above the piece - I rely on it only for initial sighting.
The enclosed blade works well - I would recommend a Forrest blade or ther comprable replacement made for the saw as an upgrade. Definitely takes the cut to a new level of smoothness.
I have had this saw several months now, and their hasn't been a letdown in the quality of the cuts.
- Buyers Remorse?
     By A238CFWQTG6L1O on 2007-07-01
Let me start off by saying I'm not a cabinet maker of 20 years nor a sun tanned construction worker on my sixth miter saw. I can't tell you about cut comparisons and won't try to sway you on accessories I know nothing about. This is my first miter saw and I thought I might be able to help someone in the same boat. I knew nothing about miter saws so I started a two month long search that included the internet, magazines, and local store visits. Like most (all) items everyone has a favorite but like cream some names always rise to the top. The majority of the tool reviews put Makita and Bosch at the top of the miter saw list. Many customer reviews also found favorites in DeWalt, Delta, Hitachi, Milwaukee and, Ridgid. I don't really care about the names since I own products from many of the above. My only criteria for this selection was to avoid my greatest fear "Buyers Remorse".
After doing my homework I sat down with the information gathered and had to decide what type of saw met my needs.
-My table saw has a 10 inch blade so why not stick with this size? - cut capacity
-Can cut capacity be increased without going to a larger blade? - slider
-How about a laser? - why not?
-Dual bevel? - almost standard
-Ease of use? - proper adjustment location with precision movement. good manual
So it was going to be a 10 inch dual bevel compound slider with laser.
This combination pretty much left me with the Hitachi, the Makita and, the Bosch. From my review reading I narrowed the selection down to Makita or Bosch but I wanted to see all three in person first. I could not find the 10 inch Bosch in my area so I checked out the 12 inch in its place. If price and availability were not an issue the Bosch would win hands down. I may not have know anything about miters but I knew quality when I saw it. The Bosch appeared to be better built, certainly had a better layout and had a smoother action than the other two. My choice seemed to be a no brainer until Amazon offered the Makita at a very hard to pass up price the same day I was going to make my move. I ran back to the store to take another look at the Makita, thought about "Buyers Remorse" and ordered the Bosch. I ordered it from Amazon because of the price and it was not available locally. It arrived in good shape and thank god it had a good manual because I didn't have a clue as to what to do with it. After much reading, I mounted the saw on a Delta miter saw stand, nice stand, good price at Lowe's. I had to make a small blade adjustment to get it plumb and I was up and running. The included Bosch blade is decent but I replaced it with an Infinity "Miter Max" and all is well (I'll keep the Bosch blade for back-up).
After a lot of playing and a few home projects you may ask about "buyers Remorse" - Not here - not with this saw!
Update: After a full year of use and many projects later I'm still very happy with this purchase. I do agree that dust collection additions are a must and the laser site is only to be used for quick rough cuts, but I think this is true on all miter saws. You should also invest in a top-notch quality blade. Great saw!
- Great saw
     By A2PUA4912CK2XP on 2006-05-02
I am amazed there is such a difference of opinion about this saw. In my case, it required only minor adjustment right out of the box. After several months of use, the saw still cuts dead-on 90 degrees without any adjustment. I especially like the micro adjustment feature and use it frequently. Some complaints such as dust collection and less than premium saw blade are common to most saw brands. Really, to effectively collect fine dust from a miter saw you need to fit a dust hood behind the saw hooked to a very powerful dust collector. I agree with most of the positive comments other reviewers have made about the saw and would certainly buy it again.
- Top dog miter saw
     By AIVFFUG69HCH6 on 2006-02-12
I have never owned a Bosch tool before but was looking to upgrade my 10" miter saw with a slider. I struggled with the decision to get a 10 or 12 inch and settled on this 10. I chose it over the 12 for several reasons. It's lighter, blades are cheaper, the saw is cheaper, smaller blades have less deflection, not a huge cutting advantage in the larger 12". The saw definitely a quality piece of machinery and cuts extremely well. Other reviewers hacked on the stock blade and accuracy but I found both exceptional. The sliding mechanism is smooth and slop free, the blade has no bearing movement as older versions had a concern with. I love the laser for many cuts but don't use it if I am looking to be within 1/32nd. The switch handle is 3 position adjustable for different grips, table is smooth with solid detents, well written owners manual, up front controls, nice fence and extensions, onboard tool storage, nice quick clamp system, well positioned carry handles, the saw is well marked with how to stickers. I didn't find anything on this saw that didn't work the way it was suppose to or felt cheaply made. I almost went with the Makita because some of the "pros" didn't like this saw, I'll never look back.
- Great Saw
     By A12ITR12QSWTWQ on 2006-04-05
After a whole lot of research on a lot of different brands of dual bevel miter saws Bosch came out on top for a number of reasons. The quality is top notch, it came out of the box staight and dialed in and needed no adjustments. I put it on a Craftsman stand and put it right to work. The saw performed perfectly and with out any problems I cut and installed all of my case mouldings. being that not all angles are created equal the fine adjustment feature came in very handy. The only complaint I have is the dust bag is not very useful...so I attached my shop vac to the dust bag port and solved almost all the dust problems. Bosch really delivered on the 4410L and I want to thank all of the folks that reviewed it.
- I ordered a saw and got a Lemon.
     By A2X0Y0FBUUGNBN on 2007-02-22
I want to think I got a lemon because I would hate to think that Bosch would mass produce a saw like the one I got. The problem was in the casting of the cast-iron base of the saw. All of the detents for the angle stops are cast right into the metal base and are not adjustable.
When I got the saw, the fence needed adjusting to bring it to square... not a big deal. The left miter was dead on (sort of, I'll explain below), but the right was out by over a full degree, which is fine... unless you take pride in your work and want it to look good. Bosch put in a fine adjustment knob to make up for casting errors but when you're trying to make a living, speed is as important as accuracy and consistency and you don't have time to fine adjust every 45 you have to cut.
The "sort of" above was because of the way the catch fits into the detent. There is a lot of slop. It's not a tight fit. Don't get me wrong, the saw has a lot of great features, but it's nothing without accuracy. I guess thats the risk you take when you get a tool over the internet. Bosch makes great tools. I have their circ saw, sawsall, colt palm router, jigsaw, and impacter and love all of them. I'm going to check the floor models at local tool stores and see if I got a lemon or if all of the saws are that sloppy.
- wonder saw
     By A27WOKAJVHO0LQ on 2005-09-26
I have used this saw extensively since purchasing it several months ago, and it is a dream. Easy to set up, easy to make alignment adjustments, and has relatively good dust control. I didn't particularly care for the Bosch blade (comes standard), and replaced it with a Forrest; it makes very clean cuts and requires no jointing, planing or sanding.
The only feature I disliked was the miter scale; its a piece of plastic that is not fastened permanently to the except by two screws. Very flimsy and cheap. Should be covered by a piece of clear formed plastic. I still give the 4410L a 5-star rating, its all I could want or ask for in a miter saw and then some!
Dust collection on this miter saw, as in all others, is horrible. Bosch engineers could easily improve this by making a rubber boot that attaches to the back of the blade housing, which would divert the dust & chips into the dust chute. I made on from a bicycle tire; works great! If the blade hit it, the rubber would cut away and not be a safety hazard, and I don;t breathe the dust.
- Well made. Well Thought Out. Works Well
     By A35S6Z1UG2K60A on 2007-08-07
I'm an Engineer who does woodworking as hobby. But I didn't buy this saw to use it for my hobby. I got it, because I'm adding an addition to my house and plan to use it for the trim carpentry (that I'm going to do). I needed a miter saw that could be moved from room to room (my tablesaw is just plain to big to be moved around). So I looked at the 12 inch miter saws, and when you look at how much they cut vs a sliding compound, it just seemed stupid to not spend the extra $100 to $150 and get a 10" sliding compound - you get more cutting capacity for your money. Plus I think if I use the saw enough I'll save the extra dollars purely on using my current 10" saw blades from my tablesaw.
Anyway, the saw came ok (it's a big box - about 3 x 2 x 2). Mine came UPS, and the box was somewhat frayed on the edges, but otherwise ok. Be carefull taking it out of the box, as the recomended way to carry it is not the easy way to get it out of the box (I recommend you download the users manual from the Bosch website to see how to carry it). Its a heavy sucker - 44lbs, but the heaviness helps you when you use the saw - it tends to stay where put (if you take reasonable care not to jerk the blade head around.)
I like a lot of people seem to be able to figure out how to put together a tool without the manual. Not this one. Even though there's not much to do to put it together, the different parts and gizmos aren't easy to find and/or figure out just by looking at. If you used a compound miter saw I think it would be easy. This is my first one, so alot of the terminology I'm not familiar with. The Bosch manual is top notch. They use simple line drawings and have a clearly written step by step procedure on how to do the adjustments and use the saw.
The saw did not cut a straight 90 degrees. It was off, I guess about 1 degree. You'd think thats not much, but on a 1 inch x 1 inch, the eye can pick it up - and using a square it stands out. The adjustment to make it square took me about 20 minutes and required me to go from back to the front several times. Also, when I "calibrated" (bosch's term for tunning) it, and then tightened up the various set screws and bolts, it was still off. So I did that twice, and it was still off, so I finally over adjusted and it was real close after tightening it up. Now the adjustments impressed me as they are several 1/2" bolts and a big set screw- so they seem to be extremely 'well engineered'. I put the "well engineered" in quotes to point out that only time will tell.
My base on the saw didn't sit flush on the table, one of the legs was off about 1/8 inch - so I just put a piece of wood to level it out.
Another adjustment I had to do, was the miter lock. It took too much force to lock it in. I had to hold the miter saw with my other hand to steady it when locking it in (pushing it down). I believe it should be tight, but that was too much. But amazingly the Bosch 4410l had a adjustment for that - on many saws that degree of adjustment just doesn't exist.
After the above adjustments the saw checked out on all other ajustments. Now, you might think because it needed adjustment that this might be a negative. When I think about all the possible things that can happen to a package that ships by air and then by truck, I don't think its that all unlikely that it might arrive needing adjustment. In fact doing the adjustments is a good introduction to the saw for one that's not familiar in using a miter saw.
In use, I've yet to use it for any real work. But I cut about twenty pieces at 90 degree and left/right 45 degree and they check out perfectly with a Starret square. I've yet to do any compound cut tests, but I don't think I'll find any problem.
One of the doodads that's hard for me to figure out, is the compound left/right knob. It seems to want to detent for the left ok, but the detent for the right needs you to tilt the saw to the right slightly before the detent catch's. A minor problem, but kind of frustrating if you aren't aware of it - to be honest I'm wouldn't be surprised if the manual explains that.
Now to go over the rest of the stuff. Its fit and finish is excellent, much metal where it needs to be, much soft plastic for easy on the hands, and many neat extras (like a good sturdy hold down clamp and nice adjustable tall fence). The up front controls as mentioned by others I've almost overlooked. The question is why would you put the controls anywhere else? One more thing, the laser was packed seperately and took about 5 minutes to put on (you have to wedge it under the safety shield to get it on).
All in all its a 4 star rating I'm giving, not so much for the minor challenges that I described above but because I can't tell you how it works day in day out on a weekend (or longer) job. This is where the true testing starts. The stuff I did, is sort of just getting off of the starting line. However, knowing Bosch I bet it'll get that last star.
I appreciated the other reviews, I hope my 2cents answers any questions you might still have. Good luck and be safe when you get yours.
- Cadillac of miter saws

I had my eye on this saw for awhile and finally decided to spend the money. It was well worth it. This is an extremely high quality product. Every aspect of this saw is adjustable to give you accuracy. Setup was time consuming but worth the effort. I had a hard time deciding on this saw or a non sliding miter saw and im glad i bought this one. The larger capacity is nice to have as i dont have to use my table saw as much. I use this saw for finish work as well as more accurate work like furniture. Works great for both. The free jig saw is nice too!!
- Nice saw but required many adjustments
     By A1354DP07F0WYJ on 2006-03-11
I have owned this saw for about a month and so far I am pleased with its performance. The saw did require quite a bit of adjusting right out of the box as the bevel settings, and squareness to blade had to be tweaked. The upfront features are very handy and easy to use. Although many of the knobs and levers are made of plastic you do not get the impression that this saw is cheaply made. The stock blade is OK. The parallel sliding mechanism glides smoothly and is very steady. The bevel/angle markings are raised and easy to read. Dust collection was futile with the standard bag that came with the saw. Collection is much improved with the unit now connected to a central dust collector. All in all I am pleased with this saw. Setups for various cuts are quick and convenient and to date the adjustments have held up and the cuts are very accurate.
- Great saw

After deciding on the 10" instead of the 12", I was very pleased with the weight difference and don't think I'm going to miss the larger capacity. I will be using this saw on site and found it easy to transport. The accuracy seems to be fine as we were installing some large crown molding in a Kitchen and other trim work. I haven't found any drawbacks yet but had to get used to all of the controls. The versatility is truly remarkable. After trying some other saws, I'm very pleased with this selection.
- Great Saw
     By AF6P3VHRXJUEP on 2007-01-12
I bought this saw a few months ago and just finally got to really use it. I installed crown molding in my dining room and living room and the saw worked great. Nice smooth and clean cuts. Even with the stock blade. I did spend about 1/2 hour checking to make sure everything was true. I did have to make a few small adjustments but for the most part it was dead on. I didn't give 5 stars because I did have a problem cutting the 3 5/8" crown molding at a 45deg R/H angle. The motor would hit the molding and not allow the saw to fully penetrate the wood. I ended up cutting each piece a little longer then my final cut and went back for the 45Deg cut. Not a big issue but is worth noting. I imagine this is a common problem with most 10" saws. The additional cost of a 12" saw in conjunction with the extra cost of blades would not be worth the slight inconvenience of the problem I encountered.

I LOVE this saw! It's a dream. Extremly accurate, reliable and the laser feature is a wonderful addition. I dabble in cabinet making and at first thought I had overindulged by buying way too much saw for my use, but I'm glad I did! The only draw back is the poor dust collection feature, but I'm working on ideas to enhance the function. Otherwise I don't think many would be unhappy with the purchase!
- Best of the best
     By ASVNX8INOUZQ0 on 2007-01-11
I had been considering a new miter saw for some time. I not only do some fine woodworking as a hobby, but I do quite a bit of yacht remodeling as a profession, so the compound saw with an extended range of angle cuts and the compound feature were very attractive. I suppose the decision process was finalized by the article in Fine Woodworking magazine, who rated this saw the best buy.
The saw arrived from Amazon.com when they said it would. The size of the box was intimidating, but it proved to be very well packaged. I removed the saw and began checking the accuracy of the settings. It was necessary to re-position the fence to be perfectly square to the travel of the blade, but it is easy to do, and ALL the tools you need to keep the saw adjusted are included, and they stow onboard the saw - just good design. I have used it from the moment it arrived. It is a joy. The blade that is supplied is a very good one, by the way - so you can check off at least [..]to [..] worth of value in the price of the tool, compared to having to purchase a new one had they not seen fit to supply a good blade as standard equipment. All the other settings were spot on, so there was no delay. I especially like the taller fence, the outboard supports that hide out of the way. If you work with crown moulding, there are special markings and detents for making all the needed cuts. For me, being able to miter up to 60 degrees right, and 50 plus to the left is a great time saver when working on boats. The ability to cut off more than 12" is an advantage, and I am able to cut 24" by turning the workpiece around.
This is a hefty tool, by the way, so if portability is high on your list, something lighter might be considered. All that weight does make a very stable cutting tool, of course.
I am glad I own it.

- Most Used Saw in My Shop

I bought the Bosch 4410L because I wanted a high-quality cross cutting saw. I figure about 80% of my cuts are crosscuts of 12" or less. So I set up the saw right next to my assembly bench where I can just swing over and make the cut. It's much faster to set up and safer than a table saw for these cuts.
This saw has proved to be a great cross-cutter. It was set-up for perfect right angles right out of the box. Cross and miter cuts are easy to set up and can be made very accurately.
I advise watching the video by Gary Katz called, "Mastering the Miter Saw", if you haven't had a lot of experience with this tool. The saw has a lot of potential that can only be realized after some instruction.
The user will also want to make a base extension so that repetitive cuts can be made on long pieces. Katz has plans for one and there are others available from Wood Magazine.
Further improvements include upgrading to a 80T blade for even better performance. This is a high-quality saw and one of the best power tool investments I've made.

Reading all these five star reviews makes me jealous. I'm a professional carpenter and there's a lot I love about this saw: the upfront controls, the table extensions that are perfecly in plane with the table, the tall sliding fences, the smooth, quiet motor... I'll never be totally happy with a saw that doesn't have those features. But I'm sure not happy with mine. It has the dreaded wavy cut syndrome. It's not caused by sloppy sliders as some reviewers have speculated. The problem is when the plane of the blade is not perfecly in line with the direction of the slide. Everything on the saw can be adjusted except that. If you get one do some test cuts on some wide stock right away. Chop it close in, then fully extended. Do you see a sawtooth in your cut? When you slide cut do you get any burn marks on the sides of the cut or a wavy cut? I did, and I took mine to a factory service center. They said the put a lot of new parts in it and checked it out but guess what. It still won't cut right. If you get a good one you'll love it, if you don't, send it back!
- Perfectly Happy
     By A6CZHHC10QUVZ on 2007-02-08
Perfectly awesome straight out of the box. This saw was a real upgrade from my last saw, a Delta Sidekick (which did cut a lot of crown and other moulding - I'm going to miss her.) I used this saw first to cut wide base moulding. The cuts were perfectly accurate, which was especially helpful when "back-cutting" the straight section for coped joints. Worth every penny.
- Precision and Glass Smooth Cuts
     By A1EUNAUN0Z7DXX on 2007-02-16
This saw was a huge upgrade from my old Rigid chop saw. The saw is everything that I expected, and is solid. My favorite feature by far is the micro-adjustment knob to fine tune the setup. It really gives you true precision. I now use this saw whenever possible for any cross-cut up to 12". I bought a Freud 80 tooth blade for it, but the factory supplied blade was very close in performance, with glass smooth cuts. Very highly recommended !
- Smooth and powerful operator
     By A3MG6OPWEI3B7E on 2007-04-07
Five-star mark just does not make jusice for this miter saw. Every detail was taken into account when it was designed. Fence is high and dead square to table. Arbor run-out does not exist at all. Saw slides so smooth. Noise level is reduced. Handle with switch are perfectly located. Soft start is integrated, and it definitely contributes for accuracy. Bevel and miter setting were perfect and still perfect after 1-year of use. It so smooth and quite that somebody could think that the saw does not have power. Well, it cuts hard maple 12x2 board like hot knife through butter.
Two years ago I have been hesitant in buying 4410L. Eventually, I bought DeWalt703. There is no doubt that it is better to wait 1-6 months and buy 4410L.
- Amazing Saw
     By A3U2OPADT5XVXT on 2007-04-17
I bought this saw to install crown moulding, laminate flooring, and to finish my basement. I am a beginner to carpentry. Even though I am a beginner I was able to figure this saw out very quickly. I followed the instructions for setting up the saw and it went very smoothly. This saw is AWESOME!. Everything is so adjustable and easy to use. I looked through many reviews and specs before I purchased and I couldn't be more pleased. If you need a sliding mitre saw you will love this one.
- Amazon and Bosch
     By AJ6OETT1OP1JF on 2007-07-29
I feel that you never know the true value of a service until something goes wrong and then see how it's handled.
In mid June I ordered a Bosch 4410L compound sliding miter saw from Amazon as it was the best price I found when comparing the price/shipping cost totals. I elected standard delivery. It arrived 3 days later by UPS. The box was battered but the contents were OK.
Checking the alignments I found them to be close but were probably shifted during shipping. Going through the setup process in the Bosch manual I could not adjust the right bevel stop adjustment - the adjustment screw was missing.
I contacted Amazon customer service and they said to send it back and they are sending out another saw immediately. I returned the saw via UPS. The new saw arrived 4 days later (a weekend was involved). Again, the shipping box was pretty beat up.
The new saw set up as described by the manual (it required only a small amount of adjustment) and it performs quite accurately. It has the widest miter and bevel range of all the saws I've seen and used, and all the controls are accessably placed in front of the saw. All of the features Bosch provided seem to be well thought out and work quite well, except the laser cut marker - it is very dim and almost impossible to see, even when using it in shadows - it's almost useless. The blade cuts accurately and cleanly. The sliding motion is also very smooth and I made no attempt to adjust it. I am impressed with it's operation and the only question left to be answered is "longevity."
Through this whole episode, Amazon kept all of the billing straight, my credit card was not double charged for the second saw and I was reimbursed for the shipping within a couple of days. I have had other situations where I would be double charged and it would be lengthy process to eventually get it cleared up - it at all. Amazon is to be commended for their customer service processes - 5 star.
The only negative comment I have is the condition of the shipping boxes when I received them. The boxes were crunched, holes punctured in the sides and some of the internal foam was also crushed and torn. I makes one wonder how UPS physically handles things and you can envision the cartoon of gorillas working in the back room, loading the trucks.
