  • It's a digital signal, people.

    By A1K9G0UZJMWIF5 on 2006-05-12
As an audio engineer, I understand the importance of good cables. I saw HDMI cables for over a hundred dollars, and I began to wonder why I should truly spend that much.

With other A/V equipment that I've hooked up, the signals have been (mostly) analog. Analog signals are prone to outside interference in a much more obvious way than digital, mainly because most digital signals (including DVI and HDMI) include some sort of error correction and/or signal reconstitution technology.

I spent MUCH less on this particular cable, and I have to say that I'm completely satisfied. The cable is short enough and shielded thickly enough that even my inexpensive TV is able to produce a clean, artifact-free image 100% of the time.

  • Dont be fooled by Retail Salesmen.

    By A3OIJKGYJ33MUB on 2006-03-10
I wish there was some way for me to tell everyone about buying cables online. When I shopped around for cables to hook up my home theatre I was disgusted by the price retail stores such as Tweeter and Fry's were charging for this and other high end A/V cables. Some places had this conversion cable listed for $100. Its should be considered consumer fraud. But this cable works great and My Star Wars Movies never looked better!

  • Excellent product

    By AF6A0DDUVY3DL on 2007-06-12
I record HDTV off the air onto my computer and had been viewing the recorded video using the standard S-Video output on my graphics card. I bought this cable to connect the graphics card's high definition DVI output to the HDMI input on my plasma TV to get better video quality. It dramatically improved the video quality of the video on my screen to HD quality.

I was somewhat skeptical that this would be so, given the fact that this item cost only $12 and I had seen them priced at $40 and up at electronics stores.

I am extremely pleased with this product.

  • From Apple Powerbook to Sharp 32" LCD HDTV

    By A3MFYS464AORSY on 2006-07-05
I use this cable to connect my Powerbook with HDTV. I use my TV for iPhoto slideshow.
    Work perfectly.

  • Why spend $100?

    By AQQBK2P0NZZRO on 2006-04-30
Similar situation. Wanted to hook up DVI output from my PC's new video card to the HDMI slot on my new TV. I shopped online to get a better price for the video card, but figured I'd just drop by Fry's or Best Buy for the adapter cable. Both places were selling it for $100! At best Fry's had a shorter one for $80. I promptly ordered this one instead, and it's been working great.

  • does not work for DVI to HDMI
    By A4IN4T9IONZSN on 2007-03-20
I bought this cable to hook up my new HDTV (HDMI inputs) from my cable box. Unfortunately my cable box has DVI outputs (not HDMI). This cable would NOT work for a DVI to HDMI connection - I assume it would work properly for a HDMI to DVI connection although I have no way of verifying that. Note that I had been successfully utilizing this DVI output from the cable box previously (so I am sure that the problem was not with the DVI output of the cable box). Buyer beware that "HDMI to DVI" means just that. I have since researched other cables and noticed that some cables describe the connections as successful in either direction ("vice-versa") and there are others that specifically say "DVI to HDMI". My bad, I guess!!!

  • does the job
    By A3OY392HOV7P03 on 2007-04-01
Great price and works as advertised. We use this cable with our SONY Bravia 40 inch HDTV and it works fine. We have used it to go from the TV to the Comcast cable box as well as from our Mac mini computer to the TV. There is no need to pay ten times as much for other name brand cables. Shipping was fast and we were happy with the entire purchase experience.

  • great cable, great price
    By A1TN1PX6UKP8WW on 2006-12-17
I am glad I did not buy the expensive Monster Cable, it would have been a waste of money. The only surprise was when I hooked it up to my cable box and the back of my tv, I got a picture, but no sound, called Cablevision, they could not figure it out, so I went to a cable forum on the internet and there was the answer, you still need the audio (RCA cables-red and white) for the audio. The cable is HDMI to DVI, for this you need the other cables described above. If both are HDMI, then the audio is is through the cable and you do not need the separate audio cables. But I was able to eliminate some cables. Not sure the picture is better than component, looks about the same.

  • Perfectly Fine
    By A36DSZZST9T1RQ on 2007-08-04
I am using this cable to go from a PPC Mac mini to my Sharp 1080p HDTV. When I first hooked it up there was no signal, and I thought it might have been that the Mini needed a dual link DVI-I cable. After talking with a guy at the local Mac store, however, I realized that I just needed to adjust the output resolution. Turning off the "TV Overscan" in the System Preferences allowed a few different resolutions to show on the TV. The cable currently is giving me a pretty darn good picture. No noise, no dropping of picture. Really, any HDMI cable under 25 feet (maybe even 50) should never give you any problems if they are up to HDMI spec.

This particular cable is pretty beefy, but does seem to have a fairly cheap quality to it, though for under $15 who can really expect any different? In short, it is a cable, it does what it needs to do, works as it should, and nothing more. In this day and age, that is sometimes a lot to ask.

  • Why pay for a monster??
    By A3IPKLXRI65CWI on 2006-05-25
Had this one for a while and i actually had my friend bring his monster cable just to compare. Il have you judge which one is which, and i bet you, you cannot even tell the difference at all. This does the job...Picture wise, its a monster. Superb picture! Then why the hell would you pay for a $100 dollar cable when you spent so much for the tv itself?? Settle for this one. You won't be disappointed.

  • works great, why spend more
    By A2O5YW3UCTGP2C on 2006-06-26
I recently got a Motorola QIP6416 HD cable decoder box that has an HDMI output, but my Samsung TV has a DVI input. I did not want to spend $100 for an over priced cable at Best Buy, so I bought this cable. It works great.

  • Works fine
    By A523Y3LMTBY5Y on 2007-06-07
Perfectly adequate, cheap (at time of purchase) cable. Works well to connect my MacBook to the HDTV. No complaints. 4 stars only because there is nothing outstanding about it... it's just a cable.

  • Works as well as Monster
    By A2J0D8EHQBF4KM on 2007-07-13
I had the opportunity to put this up against the Monster version of this cable, and there wasn't any noticable difference, other than being 10X cheaper at the time. My conversion is HDMI from a Scientific Atlanta HD Cable Box to DVI-D on a Sony Plasma. No issues.

You should also know that you will also have to buy some audio cables, as DVI is a video 'only' cable.

  • Works for DVI ouput to HDMI input
    By A1BJ50MKH4WVXH on 2007-07-15
I was hesitant to purchase this at first because some of the reviews stated the product did not work for "DVI output to HDMI input."

After researching this on google and writing the manufacturer, this cable does work for "DVI output to HDMI input."

I did have to reboot my HD cable box after attaching the cable because it displayed the error message "your HDTV does not support HDCP."

No noticeable difference between this cable and the component cables though (I just needed to free up a component input for my PS2).

    $11.99 and does the job.

  • Works but, you need another cable for SOUND
    By A34UVV757IKPVB on 2008-01-14
Would someone please explain to me, why this cable, which is the HD cable for computers, STILL needs another cable to put out audio!? I thought the whole point of HD cables, which this one is as seen by the HDMI port for your TV, is to include both sound and video information in ONE cable! Not so! So if, like me, you want to view movies on your PC on your TV, you STILL need to plug in a wire from your headphone jack to the audio-in on the TV! What a joke! If you want video from your laptop to the TV, this will work, and it does look amazingly amazing, but be warned - you'll need another cable for sound.

  • Works great, nice price.
    By A2PXOP8AOGXQCO on 2007-03-21
I'm so glad I shopped around for these cables. If I had bought them at a local electronics "big box" store, I would have spent more than five times as much for exactly the same result. There's no reason to spent megabucks on a short digital cable like this.

Works great from my FIOS TV box to my Toshiba HDTV, recommended to all.

  • But remember, no sound
    By A3LEKQ961X10O6 on 2007-08-09
Great price for the cable. Just remember HDMI is backward compatible with DVI, but DVI does not have a sound signal, so you still need the audio connection. (But that's okay because I send the audio through my stereo anyway.)

  • For 6' it is all the $ you need to spend
    By A2VH2MY566WPX2 on 2007-02-22
The cable includes a (read Monster Cable) LIFETIME WARRANTY. At 6 feet, a big dollar Monster Cable will not provide a picture any better in my opinion. The price is outstanding.

However, even more impressive than the price is the fact that Cables Unlimited with standard shipping (in fact I did "super saver") ships out faster than ANY other Amazon purchase I have made or heard of --- and this was for all intents and purposes shipped cross country.

If you need HDMI to DVI-D--- or perhaps anything else these guys sell--- you might be very hard pressed to do better than this.

  • Excellent product

I use this cable to connect my Desktop with My LCD TV with HDTV.It look great.

  • Dead after only 2 weeks
    By A33KWV1TN2CRJX on 2008-01-27
This cable worked wonderfully for two weeks, then it stopped working. I thought it was the cable box from my cable company. Replaced the box, same problem.

  • Cables Unlimited

Did the job connecting my new Directv set top box to my older DLP TV with no problems.

  • No need to pay tons of money.
    By A3DC7O2OOEZOUX on 2007-01-12
A digital signal is a digital signal. I've seen cables like this in major retail chains for up to $78. This is a digital signal, not an analog signal. With analog, you need to look into high grade cables to ensure a minimum of signal degradation. That just isn't a factor when you're talking about a digital signal that needs to travel 6 ft. VERY happy with my purchase. Was delivered within working days. A good experience overall.

  • Digital Signal: Great Quality Cheap!
    By A2L03C7TTO9FQ3 on 2007-03-01
This cable is just as good as any 5 times the price. I just installed it and it's way better than the component cables I was using before. Fantastic, crisp picture quality and detail.
As other reviews have noted, no need to spring for the big name brands. This is 100% as good as any other cable that will carry the digital signal.

  • Invisible Perfection
    By A21F6G8D70FNBC on 2007-03-27
Sometimes a thing works so well as to seem to be not there at all. As I write this, it occurrs to me that all my breathing so far today has carried on so flawlessly that until now, I've not even noticed.

Such is the case with this cable. It came, I installed it, it worked. My thanks to all who had anything to do with the creation of this "plain-ole" cable. It is definitely part of the solution and not a part of the problems in my life.

  • Good product no need to spend more.
    By A5Z3TBPYP9NTI on 2007-03-28
Good product no need to spend more. This worked great for going from new DVR to hdmi on the tv.

  • Good quality for Good price
    By A1AHVERESQE7YI on 2007-05-13
a Quality product, for a low price. Stores like Best Buy make a killing selling these Hi-Def cables, but in reality I found a 60+ dollar HDMI cable for about 8 bucks online.

  • Works great!
    By AJXE4N3QQ6W83 on 2007-08-24
I use these cables to connect my laptop and cable box to my HDTV, and they work great. And for a minuscule fraction of the price of an equivalent cable in a retail store, too.

  • Works Great
    By A3EECTVUWXR6Y1 on 2007-09-24
These cables worked great for my son's PS3 can't understand why people think the expensive cables are so much better.

  • Good cable, good price
    By A1M3D1SZU7C7EX on 2008-03-27
I recently purchased a new laptop, which has VGA and HDMI outputs. My secondary monitor is nice, but older, and does DVI-D but not HDMI. VGA is VGA, you can only get so good a picture through it, and it was a bit painful to go back to the older, fuzzier picture when I'd been using DVI-D with a desktop for quite some time.

This cable has solved my problems. Compared to the insanity of other HDMI cable prices, this was very affordable, and the HDMI to DVI-D conversion was exactly what I needed. I'm back to a sharp picture on my external monitor and very happy with it.

  • Does exactly what you'd expect it to do
    By A22MAQ5U2I2MU1 on 2008-04-19
Well, not much to say about cables... this one does exactly what you'd expect it would do. I used it to display my computer desktop (for Vista Media Center) onto a 37" LCD flat screen. DVI output on the PC to HDMI input on the TV. It produces a great picture, which is all I wanted.

You can go to Fry's and pick it up for about the same price, but it's worth it to pay shipping costs and not have to go to Fry's.
