Affordable, High-Quality Headset with Microphone By A33VTJLP5VFAQI on 2006-05-14
I bought this device for recording podcasts and chatting with my friends on Skype, Gizmo, and Paltalk. I have been extremely impressed with the quality of the headphones and microphone.
First, about the headphones: They are quite comfortable (for me at least), and produce a nice, bass-rich sound. The volume control is nice, because the last set I bought produced sound that was way too loud, and I would get a shock if I didn't lower the volume greatly when switching from speakers to headphones. This set produces a more even sound.
Second, about the microphone: I am very pleased. This microphone puts my older microphone (a Labtec microphone from 2001) to shame, and saves me from having to clean up my recordings in Audacity to get rid of excess hum and noise. I was impressed that the noise-canceling feature really works well. Also, I can talk using a normal, conversational voice and the microphone picks it up clearly. The microphone can be adjusted up and down, and toward and away from your mouth, making it very easy to find the best location for the microphone in relation to your mouth. The sound quality is so excellent that as soon as my friends heard me talk with this microphone, they wanted one. I gave them a link to this product and they will order it soon.
Overall, I couldn't be more pleased. While I haven't compared this headset with other headsets, I can tell you that for the price, the quality is excellent, and I will be recommending it to all my friends as an affordable, high-quality headset with microphone.
uncomfortable to wear By ATJCYF6915M14 on 2005-08-15
I thought by the picture these would be more comfortable than other headsets I've owned, but no, they're almost as bad. The padding is minimal, the ear piece is way too small, and the piece that touches your ear is very hard. I like the in-line volume control but that's about it. I don't use the mouth piece for anything so won't comment on that. I bought them to listen to audio on my PC hoping they'd be comfortable for at least an hour's worth of wear, but they're not.
Yet another electronic gadget to add to my junk box.
Not Very Durable By A3FIHI1504HRI2 on 2007-03-03
I purchased this headset for use flying online with MS Flight Simulator. It was a good headset to start with and had very good sound, however I noticed a problem with it right away. The earpieces are fairly hard and pretty small making it uncomfortable to wear after about an hour of use. I was constantly having to rub my ears, but that problem didn't bother me all that much.
What bothered me is the extremely short lifespan of the microphone. I purchased this headset in January and the mic died at the end of February. Not a good product by my standards. It seems to be a flaw with the boom joint as it seems to have a loose connection in it. I wiggled it and was able to get the mic back for a few hours, but it once again died on me and I haven't been able to recover it since. I've given up on it. Time to purchase a better one!
do not buy this if you have only a "line-in" port (as on a Mac) By A3UYGYZGKXX1HK on 2006-06-27
The reason so many people are having problems with the microphone is that they are plugging the microphone jack into their computer's line-in port. A line-in and a microphone-in port are different, even though they look the same. The mic-in sends a lot more power over the cable, the kind of power required to power a microphone that is not self-powered--like this one. Yet Many computers, including all Apple computers, have a line-in but not a mic-in port. This means you will need an adapter that provides power via usb, like an iMic--but for that price, you'd be better off getting a usb headset in the first place.
Bottom line: check your tech specs. If you have a line-in and not a microphone-in port, DO NOT BUY THESE HEADPHONES. YOU ARE WASTING YOUR MONEY. If you have a mic-in port (many PCs do), you'll be fine.
Besides, they're uncomfortable.
Good Audio - Very Uncomfortable By A24GWTKI38LU6K on 2007-06-15
My husband bought two pairs of these, one for each of us. Before opening the second package he had me try his on since he felt they were uncomfortable after a short time. At first it seemed alright except the ear pieces didn't fit quite right on my ears. The sound put my regular speakers to shame and I was very impressed by the tiny details I've been missing in my World of Warcraft music. However, after wearing them for a short time, they became uncomfortable on my ears and also where the band sits on top of my head. Although the audio quality is excellent, I would not recommend these for any hardcore gamers that plan on wearing headphones for extended periods of time for voice chat.
- One word: Ouch
     By A2KSV4Z6VUD2QG on 2005-12-19
Wearing these for more than 30 minutes makes my ears hurt so bad I have to take them off.
Sound and mic performance doesn't matter one bit if you can't wear the darn thing.
- You get what you paid for
     By AK1D2YF0PU3XC on 2007-06-12
Since several reviewers reported this head set as uncomfortable I decided to wait a few weeks before posting my review. At first they did squeeze my head very tight and were as uncomfortable as others have said. However, I find them fairly comfortable now. You could buy a $300 Bose set, but now that these have loosened up, I'm happy with this bargain purchase.
The audio quality on my recordings has been excellent, and since my IBM Think Pad speakers are so weak, I'm now able to listen to even the lowest of audio files as loudly as I choose thanks to the volume control button the wire of the head set. It will take a few hours of wearing to break it in... but then you're set.
- Headache Set
     By AODZU5EE5L6M8 on 2005-12-20
This headset is super uncomfortable! The 'band' between the earpieces creates strain and pressure on a person's head. Furthermore the band is not contured to a person's head shape, so more pressure is concentrated at smaller area. Horrible comfort DESIGN! NO ultra thick foam below the band unlike Altec's 40mm headsets!
Logitech's headsets got more distortion than Altec Lansing's too! However this headset's sound quality is pretty good and the bass is solid but I returned this headset for Altec Lansing AHS302i. Altec's driver is only 36mm and has less bass than this Logitech headset but I would trade in headaches for super comfort anytime.
- Avoid this model if you want to use it with an Apple laptop
     By A2MXI2VDI38Z30 on 2006-08-22
Originally when I got this headset from Amazon I thought it arrived with a defective microphone, i.e. when it was plugged into my Mac G4 PowerBook's audio in line there was ZERO sound.
What Amazon and Logitech don't bother to tell you is that though there is a Mac compatible logo on the product, it won't work with most Apple computers since the computer's audio line-in plug needs to have an amplifier built in to work with this product.
For Skype or Internet Phone use, get the Logitech USB model instead. I bought the Logitech basic USB headset and it works great for Skyping with my laptop.
- Decent, but the Mic could be longer...
     By A2AH3UAF98YXK0 on 2005-07-04
The headphones have great sound quality, but they are a little uncomfortable if worn for long periods of time. My main gripe is that the microphone is waay too far away from my face. I have to mess with it most of the time that I want to use it.
- Great!!!
     By A1UHAMHI5Q88OE on 2006-01-30
Everyone complains about how uncomfortable these are, I don't agree at all. The head piece is adjustable, so how could it press on your head. The mic is great, the sound comes out loud and clear, if you've configured the settings correctly. This is probably why people complain about the mic, configure correctly. The sound in the phones is also great. It's a steal at this price. I bought my in Sweden. Here they are about $35, which is a more appropriate price for such a good headset.
- Decent headset for Price
     By A1GQS3Q3J8CS2N on 2006-07-11
You get what you pay for, and you're getting what you pay for with this headset, which by the way only has a noise canceling microphone, not the headphones. Anyways, the padding on the phones isn't great, but it is fine for a couple of hours. While I wouldn't buy these exclusively for music listening, they do fine for talking to people or listening to music casually. For all of the people complaining about the microphone sound levels you need to look under your sound properties in the control panel, and under voice and the microphone control there is an 'advanced' tab which has a check box for a +20dB sound boost. I've been talking to my friend over the internet for a several days now without any problems, he can hear me fine.
SO is this the best headset on the market? NO, but its a really great one for $13.
- absolutely horrible- an utter regret
     By AF2BNRI1EXECV on 2006-08-25
my mother bought me this headset at circuit city for $50. this piece of junk wasn't worth even the gas money to get her to the store.
i use this headset for laying in bed and making online phone calls. if you plan to EVER be laying down while using this product do your ears a favor and just don't. laying on your side is BRUTAL, and even laying on your back will make your ears throb. sadly sitting up doesnt feel much different. within a week of getting it the speaker covers fell off and will NOT stay in, which causes my ears to rub against plastic and glue in the middle of a late night phone call.
the sound adjuster is worthless. the cords coming out of either end wiggle loose and cause UNBEARABLE static for the person on the other end of the call. the microphone is skippy and cuts out most of the sentences spoken. if the cord becomes twisted in the slightest way the horrible static returns, and WILL NOT STOP until you climb to the top of a set of stairs and let the cord dangle and unravel- and even then it doesn't always fix the problem.
the sound quality is horrible. just, ugh, i can't even describe how much i regret ever putting this stupid thing on my head.
SAVE YOUR MONEY. I DON'T CARE HOW CHEAP IT IS. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.
i really hope this review helped, because seriously, this product is absolutely ridiculous.
- terrible headset
     By A14VOXAT5X842Q on 2007-04-17
These headphones are very uncomfortable to wear, pressing at the ears if you wear them for too long. the microphone isnt very adjustable and mine broke in like 2 months
- Don't buy this
     By A3O96WV705Z8KZ on 2006-03-13
I thought this headset was with noise-cancelling function to cancel out ambient noises; after I got it I found out that only referred to the microphone, which was not what I had wanted. Although it does not hurt paying 15USD for a nice headphone, this product is super-uncomfortable. The "band" is so tight that I cannot wear this stupid headset for 15 minute without getting an ear-pain. Sound quality is pretty good though.
- Total Class
     By A36NS34TNLB8YW on 2007-02-17
I was looking for a low Cost head Phone for use with my Laptop and My Instant messenger and at this price my expectation was minimal. How wrong was I. The Sound quality is superlative. So is the microphone, it doesnt give those cracking noises that comes with the other small microphones. At this price, it is a MUST BUY.
- Fantastci Headphones for online games
     By A1Y1262VI93CDW on 2005-11-19
These are fantastic headphones for online gaming. Sound quality is acceptable for games like Battlefield 2.
Only 2 complaints. The Volume contol is unweildy and the microphone mute switch is easy to forget that you have it on.
Very comfortable I can wear my headphones for hours without getting hot ears. They are lightweight and well constucted.
The microphone is very good it is out of your way so you can have a drink without moving the mic boom. AND it has very good sound quality so you can hear it quite well.
a steal at a 20 dollar pricepoint.
- Great Headset
     By AXA5MSKO141LQ on 2006-01-30
This is a great headset for the price. My first pair was great but not cheap, this price is a steal. Thanks Amazon! I use these for gaming BF2 and I have no complaints. With any headset if you wear them snug on your head it will eventually pinch your ears. So adjust to a snug/loose fit, give it some room on you head and you should be ok. Everybodies ears are different so you have to adjust to your ears. I have to bring them slightly forward a little and they fit comfortable where I can play for HOURS without piched ears and still get great quality sound. These will be my second headset cause my other ones were falling apart that I had for so long.
- Excellent Headphones
     By AH1GN6T7Z4RIJ on 2006-09-09
Note: This product is actually 'Premium Stereo Headset' with Noise-canceling Mic.
Quality is excellent.
- Average Headset
     By A2WOLKK5FYQ07U on 2006-09-30
The quality of sound in the headphone is good but the mic sucks. One really can't do a voice chat comfortably using this headset. If you wear it normally and try to chat, other person could not hear your voice at all. So you have to every time take it off and bring mic very close to your mouth and then speak in order to get your voice pass through successfully.
- Uncomfortable
     By AM1OWOLQ092EZ on 2006-10-06
I tried this out and almost immediately decided to return it. The headband is made of plastic, and so cannot be banned or otherwise adjusted. I wear an average hat size, so I know my head is not that big, but this thing really hurt to wear. As others have noted, the padding is very thin and not very soft. Also, the padding rests on the ear itself, rather than forming a seal around it. The result is a tight fitting headset with minimal padding crushing your ears. The only redeeming quality of this product is that the microphone worked pretty well with my voice recognition software. It didn't matter though, as I couldn't manage to wear it for any length of time that made it worth keeping.
- A Bad Experience
     By ARUNAP78HMG94 on 2007-05-15
Technically, this is quite a good headset - sound is okay, convenient localized control, microphone seems to work fine. However, I have owned this headset less than a month and now the microphone no longer works, despite me taking the utmost care with it. Heck if I'm buying another one of these, and I suggest going for something sturdier.
- Excellent
     By A37JNUJSVAJKYN on 2007-05-28
The sound clarity of these headphone is GREAT, and the price is very reasonable! They are very clear, and you do not get the crackling you sometimes get in headphones when you turn the volume up - this might be do to the volume limit on the headphones. I like the fact that you can adjust the volume on the headseat instead of always having to go to your computer, however they could have a better design for the control of the volume. Another annoying thing is the two lines, they do not divide far enough apart, I don't have a microphone input on the front of my PC, and I want to plug the headphones in the front of my speakers or PC, instead I am forced to unplug my speakers to hook these up if I want to use the microphone and headseat for chat.
- Awesome for the price...
     By A23ONYW9G7VSU9 on 2005-12-11
I got these headphones to chat online with my friends...these r simply awesome...the mic is very gud, but def dont know if the noice cancelling is happening wat they claim, but the sound output is seriously good. You could also get the thump from the headphones...certainly gud for something of this size. Me fell in luv with these the moment me tried them, now my frnd who tried these has also got one with another one going for it.
These r definitely gud for the price u pay for them.
- Nice Headphones and mic
     By A240UXMF688I5Y on 2006-08-26
I purchased this item so that I can talk over yahoo messenger and skype with my friends. In short, this item is really worth the price. the headphones have good quality sound, mic works fine too and can be adjusted when not using it. The best thing is the long chord, many headphones come with a short cord, limiting you to stay close to your pc while using it. This one has enough length to sit back and relax while talking and has a nice volume control knob to ajust the headphone volume without reaching for your pc. Overall, I will definitely recommed this item to anyone who is looking for a low price yet quality headphone/mic.
- Poor quality. Really poor quality. Overal ok for the price
     By A3HX8FNMEP00XA on 2006-10-18
I have seen the reviews on Amazon and it is the first time I ignore them. I said to myself - how bad can it be considering the fact that is a Logitech product. The first time I have touch the headset, I try to adjust it and I broke one side, the cable from the left speaker went out, the volume control doesn't work at the high setings, the ergonomics are realy bad, the cable is cheap. It is painful to keep them on your head. The good part it is that it looks ok, it sounds ok, the microphone is ok and after some time you no longer feel the pain. For the price they are ok as functionality, but realy realy bad in ergonomics and quality.
- Hurts my ears, Mic quality is bad
     By AJRPMK1NZGBC3 on 2006-10-24
First of all let me say, you get what you pay for. It was a cheap headset and thats why I bought it.
I have a small head but after 30 mintues i cant wear it, it hurts way too much. And had I read the reviews before ordering it, I would've never bought it but I decided to read after I bought it and felt the pain to make sure I wasnt the only one with this complain.
People complain that they cant hear me well, the mic quality is really bad.
Its not even worth my time to return it for what its worth.
If you really hate someone, gift it to them. :)
- Not for Mac and Not for BIG Heads
     By A38YMBLNIKM7X3 on 2007-01-18
1. This doesn't work with most Macs. You need a MIC IN not a LINE IN plug. Get a USB mic and save yourself the hassle.
2. This are REALLY uncomfortable if you have a large head. When you see a one size fits all cap do you not even bother to try it on? Well, these are the one size fits all cap of the headphone world. They don't rest on your ears properly if your head is big or wide and they crimp your ear lobes. Not fun.
- Yeah......
     By A38IWCW17QMNI9 on 2007-01-24
DO NOT wear this thing for more than half an hour. It kills your ears. And the microphone doesn't work. The sound quality is the same as any headphones. Would not buy this product.
- It's great for voice chat
     By A31CXA9QM3IGTG on 2007-01-24
I really liked it as the voice quality is great and even the sound output is fantastic. The only drawback is that you can't use it for long time as it becomes uncomfortable. It can adjusted in proper position in your ears and can be used for long period.
