• Very comfortable; very useful. Perfect for laptops!

  Something I didn't know when I ordered this online: The pocket behind the Jansport logo has inner pockets for pens, phone, calculator, small book, rocks, old socks... whatever you want. My other Jansport had the bottomless pit of pockets that was a nightmare to dig through to find a pen or change for that horrible Starbuck's coffee I keep buying.
  
  The straps are thick and harder than the previous Jansport straps. ALMOST too stiff, but they should soften up with use. The nice part about them is that 65 pounds (of books) with these S-shaped straps doesn't feel as bad as it did with my other straight Jansport straps.
  
  The "Chocolate Cherry" color is realy burgundy, or better yet, a nice cabernet. I don't know about the other colors, but Jansport is pretty good about the color in the picture matching the product.

  I am very happy with my purchase of this backpack. The color is great, and it has plenty of compartments but not so many that you don't know what to put in them. I especially like the mesh holder on the side, I put my water bottle in there so I don't have to carry it around. I'm a graduate student so I have a lot of materials I have to lug around, and this backpack is perfect for it. The straps are very sturdy and don't cut into my shoulders. It is very comfortable to wear.

  This backpack is a great tote for a high school honor student with lots of books. My son could use one even slightly larger than this, but it was the largest we could find. The pack has one large pocket big enough for a laptop, and two texts and a second pocket with a space big enough for a couple of 1 1/2 inch binders. No other bells and whistles, which really is a good thing as it serves its purpose- school. The straps are comfortable. Wish it came in more colors. The cherry chocolate is really a dark burgundy.

  I really like that it can carry alot of books, calculator, and multiple pen cases. The front pouches are really roomy. I dislike that the straps required breaking in. They were extremely stiff and not nearly as padded as some of my former backpacks. Although I can carry what I need, when fully loaded it cuts into my shoulders because the design doesn't distribute the weight like my former pack did. It could be better with more padding in the shoulders and back and a more ergonomic strap design. My first preference would have been to find another of my old backpack but since that proved impossible, this was a good second choice.
  
  
• Just Ordered My Second Bag of This Style

  In 2001 (It's now 2005) I bought one of these bags. It endured heavy usage for an engineering student including books, binders, and lab tools with no signs of wear. Recently my bag was stolen. I didn't hesitate to replace it with the same item. I knew it would meet my hauling needs and last me as long as I needed it. Provided it wasn't stolen again.

• Great Pack w/ Lots of Storage

  The pack is designed well with lots of storage room. The color and pattern design is very non-traditional which makes it easy to recognize. Thus, avoiding the dilemma created when a child accidentally takes a bag which might resemble theirs. The material is a durable corduroy which is a great alternative to the traditional nylon type back packs.
  
  The only draw back is that it is somewhat large. My child is seven and the pack is a little big on her (even when adjusted). I believe the pack would be better suited to anyone over the age of eight.

  My nephew loved the daypack! He is a Freshman in high school and has to carry all his books with him all day since he doesn't have time to hit his locker in between classes. It's big enough to allow him to carry them as comfortably as possible! Thanks for the great product and the great price!

  Jansport is THE brand in the backpack business. This backpack will not disappoint you. I have used this pack for months, and I am amazed by the durability of the fabric and zippers. Just overall good quality from Jansport. Not much of a surprise.
  
  I particularly like the outside zippers, great for pens/pencils, my iPod, and cell phone. Well designed.
  
  
• Wide, stiff straps don't work on small bodies

  The straps on this backpack are very wide and very stiff. I find this uncomfortable. It might work better for somewone with a larger body, but I think that women and children would find the straps very uncomfortable.
  
  On the other hand, the backpack seems to be made with quality materials. The color is pretty.

• Great Choice for the Money

  This is a good backpack. It is very sturdy. I got it for my high school son because he ripped through his first backpack for the year in less than a week. We paid about the same for that backpack as we did for this JanSport backpack. He has had it now for a couple of months and his holding together just fine. When he first got the backpack he said the shoulder pads were very hard but now he says they don't bother him anymore. Maybe he has broken them in or just gotten use to them. If you are looking for a good and roomy no frills backpack for school, this one has worked out great for my son. I had a JanSport years ago when I was in college and I remember it being a good choice back then too. This Big Student Backpack is a great choice for the money.

  I think this backpack is the perfect size. It is big enough to fit all my books, and small enough to fit into my school locker. I like all the pockets, which helps to keep my things organized. It is comfortable to wear; not too heavy; and the color is really pretty.

  I have ridiculously large books and a half hour walk to and from the train station each day. Unlike every other backpack I've tried, the straps of this one have yet to start ripping or fraying apart from the bag. The only feature I miss is a buckle connecting the two straps across the front of the chest, so they don't pull apart at the shoulders. However, the bag is heavy-duty and roomy, and I'm easily able to fit my laptop, Con Law book (maybe the largest book ever made), Crim Law book (2nd largest ever), and pocket dictionary. Overall, if you can get as good a price as I paid for it, I would recommend it to any student or other user...

  My middle school daughter was always struggling to fit her books in her old backpack which, up until this year worked fine. I went on-line to find the roomiest one I could, and still get style, color choices and outside pockets. We were amazed at how much room this had inside. Now all her books fit nicely, and she loves the extra pockets so she can easily find her lunch, pens & pencils, her cell phone and other 'extras'.

  This back pack is the perfect size for elementary school kids that have more than one item to pack. I would not recommend it for the littler students but more for the 2 graders and up. It fits my sons binder, some books and his lunch box. It has nice adjustable straps that are padded to help ease some strain on his shoulders. If I had to complain about anything it would be that the shoulder straps are a bit stiff but I am sure they will "break in" with continued use.

  I got this for my 8-year-old son. It is just the perfect size to carry all of his work and whatever other things he needs. The pockets help him organize things so he knows where they are. He has had problems with the straps of other backpacks breaking, but this one is very sturdy and has not had any problems.
