Beyond AWESOME!!! By A7SK91SE8UZE6 on 2008-05-01
I ordered Godiva, Amendi and Leonidas Chocolates to try a variety. Leonidas made me a customer for life. Not only is their choclate above and beyond the other two by leaps and bounds. The company and it's customer service is beyond amazing. They shipped the next day after I ordered and got my order within 24 hours. AMAZING!!
I have since purchased several of thier offered chocolates on Amazon. I highly recommend this product as a place to start so you get a good idea of the different varities offered.
One of my orders the DHL did not deliver on time. Mistakes happen, but the way that they handled the mistake made me more impressed of the company and it's product than I already was, if that is possible. If you can't tell I highly recommend any product sold by this seller. I've since ordered more for friends.
The Choice of Chocolate Connoisseurs By A281NPSIMI1C2R on 2006-12-24
These chocolate are named after Leonidas Kestekidis, who definitely knew how to create chocolates for the true chocolate connoisseur. When he moved back to Belgium he not only married his true love, he created chocolates the world now adores. When you taste these chocolates, your taste buds will also finally know true chocolate happiness. Whether you try one of these with a cup of coffee or tea or enjoy one as a daily indulgence, these will impress.
Each chocolate has a unique design and after you sample the variety of chocolates, specific flavors will stand out as favorites.
Here are my favorite creamy fillings (ganache and buttercream) which come in dark, white and milk chocolate depending on the selection:
Antoinette - A smooth Brandy flavored ganache
Lingoit Lait - Absolutely delicious vanilla flavored fresh butter cream filling. Time definitely stopped while tasting this chocolate.
For ever - If you love coffee this may be one of the most delicious milk or dark chocolate chocolates ever made as it is filled with a special coffee cream that has hints of caramel. I will be ordering an entire box of these sometime in the future.
Merveilleux - Milk or dark chocolate filled with coffee ganache.
Europe - Dark or milk chocolate filled with rum filling.
Ganache - Milk or dark chocolate with pure ganache.
Tosca - Milk chocolate with a special ganache.
Antoinette - Delicate caramel hints in the milk chocolate coating mingle nicely with the vanilla filling.
Eve - Milk chocolate and banana filling.
Alexandre le grand - A milk or dark chocolate with caramel cream.
Also Recommended:
If you wish to also try the Napolitains, I'd suggest the 1 pound sampler Ballotin with six varieties. You may also want to look for the new Palet d'Or. A deeply delicious and strong bitter chocolate filled with ganache. The center is made with butter, cream and chocolate and the outer coating is a masterpiece with gold decorations.
Leonidas now has over 1700 stores and sales locations worldwide and they offer over 80 varieties of fresh chocolates. The chocolates are air freighted weekly from Brussels so you will always find the quality to be superior.
My chocolates arrived fast and were as fresh as if I had purchased them in Belgium. I can say this because I first tasted them in Belgium. They were carefully packaged in the famous gold boxes with signature/seasonal wrapping and a ribbon. The boxes were then placed in protective Styrofoam containers to protect the chocolates during shipping. The expedited shipping is recommended from May to early September.
If you want to introduce your friends and family to
the Leonidas Chocolates, this a perfect way to order
them and then give them out during the holidays.

Belgian chocolates..mmmm... and Leonidas is the best...., By A206U97FPE48UV on 2008-08-23
This is a review I wrote awhile back for Leonidas from another supplier who no longer sells it here on Amazon:
Well, I could not believe I found Leonidas chocolates on [...]. For 4 years btwn 2000-2004 I lived half time in Belgium with native Belgians and half time in the US. SO I got to learn Belgian culture form the inside, not as a tourist. Throughout the north part (the Dutch part) of Belgium, one finds family owned chocolate shops everywhere. There are also the chains. One chain was Leonidas, and it was their chocolates I loved the most. The Belgians did not consider them the elite -- more "rough: and middle-class, Godiva was consider more "elegant." But in truth it was pretty standard when you were invited to someone's home for dinner or whatever, you almost always brought a box of Leonidas chocolates with you to give to the host.
I would make several trips back to the US each year and I was always lugging boxes and boxes of Leonidas chocolates with me. Usually about 20 lobs or more -- to give as gifts to people. People just died for them.
You couldn't get them over here in the US, you could get their competitors. When you get chocolates on Belgium, they do not have preservatives as they have to have to come over here. The chocolates would literally spoil in about 10 days (which meant you had to eat them right away :-) ) But to get them over here in the US, the chocolates had to have preservatives in them SO Godiva in the US tasted no where near as good as Godiva in Europe. Leonidas, at the time, did not export their products. So even though I do not know the particular product here, though I am sure it is great, it also has to have preservatives in it or it would not survive.
But regardless, Leonidas is really the best, even though the Belgians don't want to admit it. (Belgians have an incredible inferiority complex -- people in Europe make jokes about Belgians the way people in the US make slurrish jokes about various immigrant minorities.) Godiva I believe is French... And I am sure that is why the Belgians think it superior to their own product... shame...

I sent these chocolates to some good friends in Nebraska. They said they never tasted anything better. They also tried to make them last out a week, though it was hard to do. It made me so glad that I bought the product for them. I would recommend these to anyone who loves chocolates.
- Yummy!

I love chocolate and I adore Leonidas. My family and everyone where I work enjoy this most delicious 'Belgian Brand', in comparison with all the rest of kinds we have ever tasted. Previously, I was convinced the Swiss chocolates were the best. But after I first tasted Leonidas, I must admit: I stand corrected. Each one is a symphony in your mouth - the most satisfying taste possible. In the last two years I have purchased, in stores or on line, dozens of times, the whole abc...xyz of Leonidas chocolates. I have tried them all, and believe me, they have a wide variety to chose from. I am lucky to live close to two of their stores, and in the last twelve months the employees greet me like Norm on the show 'Cheers'. I buy them for myself, for my family, for my friends, for birthdays... I give them a grade of 10+
For lack of time in my daily routine, I must still buy online, from Amazon, because my job takes the most part of my day. Amazon has the best service, and sometimes offers specials that I cannot pass. With friendship, Sergio.
- mmmm... chocolate!

This is my guilty pleasure. I was surprised to find food on Amazon and when I came across these chocolates, I couldn't resists trying them. Now I regret that because I've ordered 3 boxes of them now. I sit and sew and eat chocolate. It's so bad, yet so good. I have to hide them from my kids because they'll attack and eat them all! There also great to take for dinner parties. Chocolate lovers beware, you won't be able to resist!
- mmmmmmmm

I grew up on Leonidas. I would go visit family overseas and always had to bring a kilo back for my mother (this was back when you couldnt order it online, let alone find it in a shop in the US). And I have to say - they have yet to decline in quality. They are as superb now as they were then! I highly recommend all them.
