  • This is THE MOUSEPAD for today mousing technologies

    By A3RX68KZGX1IS5 on 2006-01-25
I bought the RAZER ExactMat and been testing it for almost a month. I wanted to be absolutely sure on every aspect before I share any thoughts. I'm a gamer. No doubt about it. So, I got tired of using all the traditional mousing surfaces. I tried them all. From the traditional "freebie" to what I thought was the best I could find a t the time: the 3M Presicion Mousing Surface. Good stuff. Its only drawback is it starts showing degraded performance around a year of use.
After some research, I found the Razer ExacMat. It got the looks. But the real question is: Does it got the guts? How well does it performs?

I tested the ExactMat with a Logitech MX1000 laser mouse. My first impression wasn't that positive. My mouse showed some erratic behavior. So, I was starting to fell a little disapointed. Especially after reading a previous review pointing how this pad wasn't very laser technology friendly. Or so this reviewer thought.

Guess what,...The problem was not with the ExactMat by itself. After some more testing I discovered that the mousepad is SO BIG, the mouse wireless sensor wasn't able to send it's signal to the far corner of the ExactMat. Funny thing!

I repositioned the sensor. NO problems no more. The MX1000 really FLOATS over any of the two surfaces of the ExactMat. One for CONTROL. One for SPEED. Both surfaces gives you a very fine control over every movement.

Worth mentionning: you won't notice any performance difference between using the ExactMat and any "1 buck mousepad" if you don't try it with a optical or laser mouse.

    In Conclusion:

    - Highly recommended for FPS fans!! Recommended for any gamer.
    - Works like a charm with my MX1000 laser mouse
    - Be sure to have your wireless sensor positioned as close as you can to your mousepad. This thing is really big.

a little pricey, but bought two of these for my kids, two sided one for control the other for speed. very durable and secure. built in wrist pad. really a top notch product from razer. used with razer mice. they love them.

  • Wow!

    By A19GJQJVUGMO84 on 2005-08-26
I purchased this mouse pad along with a Razer Diamondback Plasma mouse. Even before I switched mice, I noticed a difference in response and control. In conjunction with my Diamondback, I get unbelievable performance. HIGHLY recommend this mouse pad. It so amazing that I cringe every time I use another computer without it. What are you waiting for?! Buy it NOW! =)

  • DOES NOT WORK WITH LASER MICE!!!

    By A3JEDH132UYZ07 on 2005-12-09
When I bought this product I had an optical mouse, it worked perfectly with the optical mouse. Both sides the speed and control worked very well (with an optical mouse). Then about a week later I got a Laser Mouse. The control side doesn't even work with the laser mouse and there is no difference with the speed side (Comparing the met and a hard desk.) The largeness of the mat and the gel pad are great. The gel pad is very soft. Everything about this mat is excellent, but IT DOESNT WORK WITH LASER MICE!!! So if you have an optical mouse this is a great choice. IF YOU HAVE A LASER MOUSE, DONT GET IT!!!

  • "A mousepad by any other name...."

    By A11QEYGR4K4PA7 on 2005-09-14
Although the ExactMat is great for its large area and gel wrist rest, its surface which is touted as being ultra responsive and slick is no better than your average neoprene 'freebie' mat you can find for less than $10. If its a status symbol for gaming your looking for, you've found a great mat. However, if its actual performance you are worried about, then keep looking.

  • WARNING: No Razer mouse, you better test before you buy.
    By A893NKZGHUGQP on 2007-01-20
I was looking at this mouse pad already at CompUSA where it was far higher prized but I wanted it. As soon as I came home I ordered in and waited at the door. As soon as I got it in my hand all kind of things started flying of my desk to make room for it, but well worth it!

The first mouse I tested was a Microsoft laser mouse and it miserably failed! I could not get it to work at all (PANIC) but once I tested my Razer Copperhead everything work fine and (no surprise here) my Logitech Mouse also worked great! WARNING: In case you do not plan to use a Razer mouse you may want to test your mouse before you buy.

Its wrist support and unique dual sided design works very well for me, one of the guys that sit thousands of hours a year in front of my computer. In addition I switched over to using my Razer Copperhead as my full time mouse for both gaming and my actual job writing code. Because of it size I never had to lift the mouse of the mouse pad, even while running dual 20" wide screen LCD monitors.

Looking at its price it may be overkill for a thin, stamped-out sheet of aluminum with two different surface codlings, 8 rubber feel and a wrist rest. Looking at the price maybe, but I love it and would buy it again!

  • A huge mousepad!!
    By A13G57IHYX7CAP on 2007-08-07
Boy is this thing big. But it's nice. I didn't realize how it was made till it arrived, and even then it took a few minutes to figure it out. So I'll tell you this: what you get is two pieces. One is a metal mousing surface, which you can flip over to use one of two different surfaces. Each surface is marked. One is "speed", the other is "control." The "control" side is too bumpy for me, so I use the speed side. This lays ON TOP OF a rubber pad that has a gel wrist pad attached to it. This arrangement works very well. The mouse pad does not move at all, and the wrist pad is perfectly shaped.

An expensive, but worthwhile, investment. Works great with my G5.

    By A29O0STUAG1NJR on 2006-06-08
I just got this pad today and its a good pad from what i have experienced. I am happy with it and it does the job with 2 surfaces to choose from. I flip it over to speed side for gaming and back to slower side for graphic design and image editing. Of course it's your preference, but the option is nice to have. I might even get another of these when I setup my office. 30 bux aint a bad investment in somethin that reeks in increasing mouse productivity. I have reviewed many products on the market and this is another one of those quality items. Razer is a very good name. If you know anything about computer products and quality, then you ought to have a good mouse pad. For the average joe, who aint computer inclined...probably a hard surface pad wouldnt mean anything much.

june 27th 2006 edit: This mouse pad has performed excellent unlike another pad (forgot the name) i used 1 year ago. My only real advice is to get a good mouse and a good gel wrist pad to go with this and yur set. I recommend the razer diamond back or a logitech mx518.

  • Excellent Mousepad
    By AZWJEOUR7PW89 on 2007-02-15
Having used a variety of books for mouse pads to try and fully utilize my Razer Copperhead, the Razer eXactMat with the eXactRest is an incredible bundle. The eXactMat is the epitome of all mousepads, from it's aluminum construction to it's massive surface area and differently textured sides. The eXactRest is made just for the eXactMat, and it's contour-gel and slight dip in the middle for wrist placement is darn near perfect. Whereas I find my Copperhead mouse to be lacking in places, this mouse pad bundle is simply the best one may purchase. The only realistic problem that I foresee (given that the mouse pad can be bought alone) is the mouse pad being bent while taking it to wherever (presumably LANs). But that really revolves more around the follies of the user and less around this near-perfectly designed mouse pad.

    Highly Recommended

  • Great pad, great wrist rest
    By A1WFXQA84DOC5F on 2007-03-21
On the mousepad side of things, this double-sided mat is high quality all the way around. It has aluminum surfaces attached to each side of a thin, but sturdy aluminum plate. I use the speed side since it is smoother, with a Razer DeathAdder that I also recently purchased. Amazon was sold out of these-- the razer store has them.

The wrist rest is also just as high quality. It actually uses a memory foam cushion which is much more comfortable than the cheap gel material typically found in mouse wrist rests. It also has a dip in the middle making it very comfortable for long gaming sessions. Keep this in mind if you're considering another gaming mousepad. The wrist rest is optional, but it adds stability (it is a large rubber mat + rest, the mousepad sits on top of the mat part).

  • Highly reccomended!
    By A3SOR1E6IC4QE5 on 2007-04-02
I've had this mouse pad for about a year now and I love it! I log a ~lot~ of hours on my computer playing games like BF2142, DAoC, Guild Wars, and others, and after a year of heavy abuse it shows zero signs of wear. The mousepad is like a dream for my Logitech G5 laser mouse, I'm certain I wouldn't get the amount of performance I do out of the mouse without a quality mousing surface.

The mousepad has two sides, one for speed and one for control. The difference between the two is the texture of the surface. The control side boasts its friction so your mouse doesn't slide any farther than you want it too. The speed side has just enough of a texture for your laser or optical mouse to pick up a reading, but is smooth enough to allow your mouse to simply glide along the surface with zero resistance.

When I first decided to upgrade from the cheap Allsop $3 mousepads, I went for some thing for comfort and tried a few mousepads with gel wrist rests attached. Then I wanted something with more of a performance feel, and something that looked good on my desk. I tried the Icemat and SteelPad, and finally came to the eXactMat and found the best of both worlds!

I love this mousepad and you will too!

  • Great Mouse pad
    By A2WUDPK412E83I on 2006-03-22
The Razer eXactMat is worth every penny! The two surfaces are perfect for gaming and are 100% better with my Razer Copperhead mouse. I had a regular mousepad before this one and didn't have nearly the control.

If you are a gamer, shell out the extra few bucks for this pad.

  • A mouse pad for gaming
    By A1Y4KXR9LZI7X0 on 2006-01-16
The precision is vital to get competitive skils on First Person Shooter games. Not is just the choice of a great mouse, if you don't have a great mouse pad.
This mouse pad provide all that you need for gaming, precision, size (area to move you mouse) and confort ( a wirst band of gel).
I'm totally recommend this mouspad. Great Job Razer!!!

  • Excellent Mat

Well, I totally agree with the last review...
Excellent Mouse Pad for Optical Mouse...
Huge!!!, 2 sides!(I normally use the fast side and feels great)
The best damn pad I ever had...
First time feels little weird though...

  • Does NOT work reliably with an optical mouse
    By A3JZL0AEQ008VY on 2007-02-07
I can occasionally get my Logitech cordless MouseMan optical mouse to work on this pad, but before long, it just stops tracking. Not surprising, since the pad is a smooth, solid black surface. It's also quite large and rigid, so I had a hard time fitting it into my desk's tray alongside my keyboard... had to ditch the wrist pad and turn it sideways. I've given up on it. I guess if you have the space and the right mouse, it would be a nice mousepad, but it was not the right purchase for me.

  • Amazing mouse surface, but problem with Logitech G5 Mouse!
    By A1X78DZZ68OLPM on 2006-09-20
Bought this pad because it was the best and I do a lot of graphic work. The pad is amazing and larger than I thought...but the control side of the pad does not work with my wired Logitech G5 mouse :( The speed side of the pad works fine and is alright, but disappointed that the control side did not work.

  • nice mat
    By A2AVI8FXYAMMPZ on 2007-01-23
I like this mouse mat's two different sides. I don't really notice a difference in mouse performance on one side then the other, but they do feel different, so you can choose the side you like better. One side is smoother then the other. I guess for high end gamers the smooth side may allow for faster mouse movements. The Razer Copperhead mouse does track perfectly with no jumping. The size of the mat is my only real problem. It is just too big to fit nicely on my desk. I don't need that much mouse space. I ended up having to put my keyboard up on the mouse mat ~3in.

  • Wow, nice pad
    By A2OPB6J78GU2DY on 2007-03-24
I love this pad, durable, extremely accurate, and the wrist wrest is the most comfortable one i have ever had. size is just right, extremely comfortable, and responds wonderfully.

If you are looking for a mouse pad, and you are a serious gamer...this is the one to get. If you are looking for a computer to game with: Ichtus Computers is the way to go.

By the way, the price is not really bad compared to some pads that dont come wth the rest. To me, it is worth it.

  • great...
    By A1FAO88P9SVGMP on 2007-04-10
great product - large surface area - unlike other reviews no issues at all with laser mouse - wireless mouse will work fine if you position receiver correctly

  • Great Performance, Great Value
    By A15KUJW1UUK02R on 2007-05-28
This is a really great mouse pad. The speed side is super slick and the control side gives you that extra friction for precision work. The wrist pad is extremely comfortable. This thing is a great value for what you get, compared to similar priced products. One warning, make sure you have space for it. This thing is huge, which is a large plus for me. I highly recommend this mouse pad.

  • Love it!
    By A20DDH4NT6Q1E8 on 2007-07-05
As a gamer, I've been looking for a quality mouse mat for a long time now, but was hesitant spending some $30 for one. I'm glad I finally took the plunge with the Razer eXactMat.

I teamed this with a new Logitech MX518 gaming mouse, and I have to say this is one sweet combo. My mouse floats across the slick side of the eXactMat like nothing I've ever experienced before. I have not tried the coarse side (precision) of this mat so I can't comment there, and will probably be using the slick side 99% of my time. Tip: Consider getting a new mouse of your preferred brand at the same time you purchase this mat.

The wrist rest that comes with it is detachable--it's a rubberized pad that the entire mat sits on without altering the height, with a gel wrist support on one end. It's a nice addition, but one you don't have to use if you don't want to.

Overall, I wish I'd bought this mouse mat years ago!

  • The best mouse pad ever!!!
    By A3SB8YQ0KC8Q26 on 2007-07-05
I got the ExactMat and ExactRest Bundle after thinking a lot if it is worth the money. I mean there are mouse pads for less than a buck. I can tell you one thing.... IT IS WORTH the money you are going to spend.
I use Razer Death Adder mouse and it just works great on the mouse pad. I use the smoother surface of both and there is definitely a great difference from all the other mouse pads i have used so far. There is only one thing that one might not like about the mouse pad. You have to keep it super clean to prevent scratches both on the mouse pad and on your mouse. Besides that Razer ExactMat and the Exactrest is one of the greatest budles I have ever bought so far.

  • Razer exact mat
    By A21M00NGV87R6O on 2007-07-06
The Razer Exact mat is a great mouse pad if your into fps shooter games. The big advantage with this mouse pad, is it's dual sides. You have a smooth surface on one side, and rougher surface on the other. I personally always use the rough side because it helps with accuracy. The pad is stabilized with four rubber pads on each corner. They do a very good job keeping the pad in place. Very durable, and the pad is large so you never run out of room for your mouse. Overall 4/5 Stars

  • Perfect match with my Razer Copperhead
    By A2HM64XUH9H1ZL on 2007-07-25
I started off with the first generation of the Icemat 2nd Edition (White), and as far as I knew (and read from various reviews) the only difference was the size, everything else was pretty much the same. Having said that, it didn't play nice with my Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop Elite. I didn't get to try it with my RAZER Copperhead Razor High Precision Gaming Mouse (Chaos Green) mouse before I got rid of it.

I figured that a mouse pad made by Razer would be honed to perfection when coupled with their brand of mice. I _LOVE_ the Razer Copperhead -- I've never owned a gaming mouse before, but I can't even begin to think what I'd do without an option for 1600 dpi (even 800 dpi is better than the standard 400 dpi sensors). I'm even planning to get another for the office because I can't stand the slowness!

Anyway... back to the mouse pad...

This was also my first serious mouse pad purchase, and for less than $30, I'd say this was definitely worth it. It comes with dual sided mousing surfaces made from hard plastic with aluminum edges and a soft wrist rest. I tried using the wrist rest for a few days before I gave up and tossed it aside and just kept the mouse pad. I have it on the "speed" side. The "control" side feels a little rough and might be a little annoying to move the base of your hand around. Besides, I didn't notice too big of a difference between the two sides. And although my mouse is on 1600 dpi while I work on the desktop, I tend to drop the sensitivity back down to 400 dpi or 800 dpi while working in Photoshop, or gaming. I've noticed that my mouse skips less often on the mouse pad than of my desk (which sometimes gets a little dusty if I reach the far corners of my reach); but with the mouse pad, since it's black, it's easy to see dust and get rid of it before it gets to be a nuisance. And the surface is HUGE, I think I'm only really using half the available space because my sensitivity is set so high!

Overall a great product and feels durable enough that it'll last a couple of years. A great gift for your mouse; I'm sure your hand and wrist will thank you!

  • Very cool.
    By A2OXXX9OVVFF3O on 2007-10-01
This mouse pad improves the performance of my mouse, looks really cool, is easy to clean and maintain, and provides a surface which a mouse slides effortlessly across. The construction is obviously of high quality and durability.

Make sure to check its dimensions to ensure you have the desk space for it.
(I am using it with the Logitech's G7)

  • Exactly as advertised
    By A2MA96CVJKS4BA on 2007-11-22
Each side does just as its supposed to. The Razer logo on the eXactRest wears off quickly, but once its gone it makes the most comfortable rest I've ever used. Only complaint would be that if food, liquids, or other things get into the crevices its a pain to get them out. So don't eat at your computer like me and you'll be fine. Oh and if you didn't already know, the thing is HUGE so have a lot of desk space. Works great with my Razer Tarantula keyboard too.

  • Nice pad.
    By A1LONZ38P800CE on 2007-12-01
Overall, I'm happy with the pad. It has a nice textured surface that's enough for optical mice to pick up precise movements, yet still smooth to the touch. The wrist rest I love, it's so squishy and comfy, I'd really like to find one that's pillow-sized haha.

My only real complaints, if you even want to call it that, is that I used the Ratpadz GS before this. That pad provided a bit more resistance to my mouse, which I grew used to and was comfortable with. This pad is much more slick than the Ratpadz GS, it feels like my mouse is sliding around instead of me pushing it around. Can be a plus or minus depending on personal preference, I suppose.

My other complaint is the funky shape. It's like a warped out weird and funky square.. thing.. No idea. I would've been much more happy if it was a simple square, it would've sat on my desk much nicer. I usually push the edge of my pad along a squared off wall on my desk. I can't do that with this one or it'll be lopsided. Due to this, my keyboard sits on the corner of the pad. I just don't have enough room due to the funky shape. Again, not an issue for most, different sized desks and all, it's just what I'm used to and doesn't work as well for me. I just really think it would've been better off as a simple square.

I also really like that it can be flipped over to the other side, so once this side gets worn down, I can simply flip it and use the other. Twice the life in one pad. Due to the less resistance and pressure against the pad itself, and the option to use both sides, I'm thinking this one will outlast my Ratpadz GS by quite a bit, and that one held up for around 4-5 years until I wore the surface down to a gloosy smooth surface which was unusable.

Summed up.. Happy with it, but a few adjustments and I would've been happier. In general a nice pad.

  • The best pad I've used, period
    By A8IRV370GT4JW on 2007-12-02
I've owned a fUnc 1080, Ratpadz GS, and Thunder 8. The eXactMat blows them all away. This is the first pad I've owners which doesn't slide around at all. Really, it doesn't move. The bottom of the surface is totally rubber. You're not working with a few cheesy pads here. The surface itself is more dirt resistant than any other I've used. The aluminum frame makes for a solid piece. I've noticed no warping over time as I have with previous mouse pads. It also seems easier on my mice. I don't want a pad which will act like sandpaper on the bottom of the mouse. The size is appropriate. Not too big, not too small. It doesn't look tacky sitting on your desk, which is always a bonus. Who wants a mouse pad which looks like it's designed for 12 year olds? The wrist rest is great. It fits the pad perfectly and is comfortable. It's also a boon for your arm posture if you're a heavy PC user. The indent in the middle is a nice touch. The fabric cover is easy to keep clean and comfortable.

    The bottom line:

If you're sick of mouse pads which seem like little more than glorified kitchen cutting boards with rubber knobs on the bottom, this is for you. You don't need to be some Mountain Dew-fueled gamer to appreciate a well designed mouse pad. The pad is gimmick-free and does what it is supposed to do very well.

  • Great GAMING mouse pad
    By AN1JRS665QPZV on 2007-12-22
I recently purchased this mouse pad and I really enjoy it. It does take up alot of room...more mouse space than I could ever use though. I believe the wrist rest is a bit high so it can sometimes be a little uncomfortable for me at my desk. But even though that may sound negative I don't regret the purchase in the least and I would recommend this mouse pad to anyone that is into gaming.
