  • Well Worth Having

    By A3V6Z4RCDGRC44 on 2005-06-12
A PSP screen is clear and large - and is almost a magnet for fingerprints, dust and scratches. This filter helps to protect it from damage.

In essence it's a clear plastic layer that you place down with a sticky substance on your PSP screen. You need to clean your screen VERY well to start with. We have eyeglass cleaner in the house and it worked perfectly - not a speck of dust or lint was left when we began.

Then we carefully followed their instructions to lay down the screen. It went down without any problem at all, and was crystal clear once it was down. Playing through it did not present any issue, and it really does a good job of keeping oils and dust away from the actual screen surface.

    Highly recommended!

  • Excellent Product for an Excellent Price - Make sure to follow the directions

    By A4AJEM576CYBZ on 2005-08-20
This is an excellent screen filter/protector for the Sony PSP. It reduces the glare on the screen, it's scratch resistant and doesn't show finger prints as easily as the PSP screen. The instructions aren't 100% clear and I can see how this product has gotten some negative reviews on other sites. However, the key is to understand that filter/protector is in between the sheet with the red tab and the sheet with the clear tab. For those that say they have bubbles or the filter is too thin, they probably applied the sheet with the red tab (which is what I did initially). After noticing the filter was stuck to the sheet with the clear tab, I removed it and applied it to the PSP. No bubbles or anything. Also the filter comes with with a cloth to clean both the screen and the filter.

My one complaint would be that Hori should have made the two sheets with a color (not clear like the filter) so you could tell the different between the sheets and the actual filter. Other than that, top notch product for an extremely good price.

  • The secret of applying this filter

    By A31JPGXWIG0RIY on 2008-07-13
Many people have problem applying the filter. If you just peel off and apply the sticker directly, you will face the following 3 major problem:

    1. Dust particles
    2. air bubbles (or known as air pockets, caused by air or dust)
    3. Sticker orientation accuracy

To solve the above problems, here is the secret and the correct steps, not limited to this PSP filter, in fact, this secret applied to all stickers application.

Do the following steps, and you will be amazed with the result.
    Ingredients:
    a. The screen protector filter
    b. Bowl
    c. hand soap, body shampoo (lotion, etc.. anything alcaline based will do)
    d. water
    e. plastic paper credit card sized or smaller which act as your lifter. Optional, use the front/back plastic cover for the sticker will do as well.
    f. tissue paper

    Step

    1. Wipe the PSP screen clean
    2. Fill the bowl with one or two teaspoon amount of hand soap and dilute it with half bowl of water.
    3. scoop out the bubbles in the bowl as many as possible.
    4. Remove both front and back side of the filter. (remember the up-side)
    5. Soak the filter into the bowl and take it out with your plastic paper. (try not to use finger)
    6. Apply the filter gently (while it is still little wet)

    7. Adjust the filter to the correct position desired.
    8. Push the liquid out with a credit card from middle to outside.
    9. Wipe any water that squeezed out from the corner of the sticker as soon as soon you see it.
    10. If you see dust particle (a small air pocket with a little dust dot in the middle) inside the sticker, lift it up with a plaster paper, remove the dust, and close it back.

    11. repeat step 7 to 10 until it is completely dry and up to your desire.

If application is not as your desired, remove the sticker, soak it back to the same bowl, clean the sticker to make sure no dust particles with the same way you lean your contact lens, and reapply. (No, you don't have to throw your filter!)

Finally you got yourself a perfect application of filter and air bubble-less.

This is the same technique as applying tinted film/stickers on glass windows, car windows and wind screen by the car assessories professionals. The only difference is they spray soap water on the filter instead of using a bowl (coz PSP filter is so small compared with filter for tinted glass application)

Try it, you will be amazed by the result instead of apply directly without soap water.

  • The best I've seen on the market

    By A3RDYB3228QXDA on 2005-11-17
I had no problems with this product. I tried a few other similar screen lenses from different manufacturers previously and was disappointed with all of them.

This product was easy to use, the instructions were helpful, and the screen is just as clear as before with less glare. I highly recommend the product to anyone looking to protect their investment. It is a small price relative to an irremovable scratch across the screen.

  • Hori SONY PSP Screen Protector

    By AR31MYYDVW53L on 2005-09-06
The Hori screen protector is far superior to other brands I have tried. I really didn't think there would be a difference in screen protectors but the Hori protectors are amazing. Other protectors I have used cause the screen look blurred and fuzzy. I thought this was something I would have to live with if I wanted to keep my PSP screen from becoming scratched. The Hori protector is so clear it almost looks as if there is not a protector on my PSP. It was also much easier to install than other brands I have tried. I would highly recommend the Hori screen protector to anyone. The only drawback I have found is that they are not sold in any stores in my local area. The only way I could get one is by ordering it over the internet.

  • Filter works just fine
    By A361BRUY0U9BB on 2005-09-16
I just installed this Hori filter on my Sony PSP and proceeded to win Need for Speed by my greatest time margin ever. Clearly a superior product!
No adult should have difficulty applying this product to the PSP screen.

  • Bad experience
    By A1RE2702M2L98M on 2006-08-09
I looked over the Internet for several screen protectors for my new PSP, and I found this one as the best option.(The screen protector from Sony it's only available in Japan). I follow all the instructions and I have bubbles everywhere. I take it away, put it again, and I can manage to have less bubbles, very little and tiny ones, but still have them. It looks good for protecting the screen, but terrible for admiring this amazing screen.

  • Better than the others
    By A21SUC9JPTNMNB on 2006-12-12
This is a great screen protector!
Here are some pros and cons of this product.

    pros

    1. glare resistent(with a psp's screen its hard to see if your outside so that is one of the grand things about it)

    2. reuseable (alot of other protectors can only be appled once and there is no room for mistakes. With this protector it can be used over and over again)

    3. No bubbles (if applyed correctly there should be no bubbles at all but if you do, Just run your finger lightly over the screen and it should come off. If that doesn't work just reapply)

    Cons.

    1. the directions are kinda hard to understand but its well worth the confusion.

    2. you have to be really carefull not to get your fingers on the screen when applying. (make sure you have clean hands and a clean screen)

overall I think this is a great protector so great infact I told my friend about it and he got it for himself.

  • The best one out there.
    By A2GUF1575GL2IJ on 2007-05-13
Amazon has this listed as a game instead of an accessory, and that's a shame since it is a great accessory.

I tried a couple of the cheaper screen protectors you can pick up anywhere, and they all left much to be desired. I came across a review for one of these and it looked better than the others so I ordered one. I'm glad I did. The Hori filter is easily the best one I have ever seen.

It is thicker than other brands, which makes it much easier to apply cleanly. With some of the others it is just about impossible to get it on there cleanly and one particle of dust makes a rather large bubble under the filter. The Hori filter is thick enough to re-apply more than once so if a mote of dust gets in there you can peel it back and use a bit of tape to pull the dust off. You can then press the filter back down with no problems. I wouldn't recommend trying the tape trick on those cheaper and thinner screen protectors. You will mangle them.

Also, since the Hori screen filter is thicker, it protects better. If you get it on there right after getting a PSP, it will remain scratch free indefinitely. I have used three of these so far. Not because they needed to be replaced, but because I put a new silver faceplate on my first PSP, and then later I got a Ceramic White PSP. In both cases, I made sure I had a Hori filter ready to go. When I get one of those gold PSPs I will make sure I have another one ready to install.

  • Wouldn't pay more than 50 cents for this
    By A3A3BA55H4LFJG on 2008-01-06
I bought the product from the great reviews, but this is by far the worst product I've bought from Amazon.

It is way over-priced for a thin sheet that failed to "function". It is a huge hassle to apply onto your PSP. I read the directions closely and made an attempt to put it on.

First, it did not cover the whole screen
Second, many many air bubbles appeared
Third, I tried to re-apply, but MORE bubbles appeared

After 30 mins of patience, more and more bubbles appeared each time I took it off. I trashed the filter and bought a case that covers my screen

  • Excellent... does what it's supposed to do!
    By A3490RQO55J27R on 2005-05-15
An outstanding product. I completely agree with the other reviewer- while it may be hard to get all the dust out, once the PSP is on, you can't see it at all. As far as applying it- DO NOT GET CONFUSED. The instructions are backwards. The sticky film is on the red sticker, not the blue one. Anyways, once it's on, I can hardly tell that it's there. It does a tremendous job of protecting the screen as well. For $5, it's definitely worth it.

  • Wow.
    By A16G1ZKOOH0DDU on 2006-08-26
I absolutely love this sceen protector. As long as you put it on right (like I didn't do the first time I tried it, and like the reviewer from Mexico City didn't do (he put on one of the two protective covers for the screen instead of the filter itself)) it goes on so easily and stays crystal clear and scratch and glare free. If you have a PSP, buy this now. It may cost slightly more than the others on the market, but it truly is the best.

  • fast but dissapointing!
    By AWWYALJV0Z8CJ on 2006-10-22
i recieved this product right on time...the only problem is, they sent me protective filter for nintendo DS instead of PSP..useless!

  • Nearly Perfect product to protect you PSP
    By A26ZPZMXQCM0NY on 2007-07-06
After having a Pelican protector that melted onto my screen....I decided...NO MORE JUNK....I get a Hori.

It is clear and doesn't effect the image at all. It helps protect from glare as well. It is nearly impossible to scratch the screen now. I only have 2 complains. One is the protect is about 2mm to small and the sides end up sticking out.The other is it is tinted slightly blue.It is most likely is the anti-glare layer.

Overall I am extremely happy an will now get a Hori protector for my DS.
Don't be fooled by cheap alternatives, Hori is the best an worth the pricey price and shipping.

  • This product is garbage. NOT FOR PSP 2000 MODELS.
    By A3AEOO3AKGCNH3 on 2007-12-29
This screen protector is NOT FOR PSP 2000 (Slim) MODELS!!

Don't bother with all of the good reviews for this product. This screen protector is GARBAGE. I followed the instructions and applied the protector as carefully as possible and my screen was still covered with air bubbles. Not only this, but it doesn't fit the entire PSP 2000 screen, leaving air bubbles and dust to easily get underneath. So I tried to reapply and it said to use clear tape to get it off and I had to try multiple times just to get it off.. and I got some fingerprint on the filter, and there's NO WAY to clean the fingerprint off the filter, so I applied a couple of more time but no matter what you do, the edges don't stick around the whole screen and not only were there still air bubbles, the filter was dirty so the screen looked absoulty horrible. My screen actually looked BETTER without the filter.

I ended up crunching everything up and tossing it in the garbage where this product belongs. AGAIN, DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT IF YOU OWN A PSP 2000 MODEL. A waste of money.

  • Just as advertised
    By A3VPMKT3IZCXK4 on 2008-01-06
I managed to put the filter on perfectly the first time, though it does not completely cover the screen (probably 99.5%). One millimeter more on the sides would have done it, though that's nitpicking.

Overall you don't really notice that the screen has a filter at all when it's on, but I do notice that the screen is perfect- not a scratch. Product tends to develop tiny bubbles around edges, though you can get them out with a credit card. The cloth it comes with is useful as well.

  • Works just fine
    By A1SRLYKIG36PEN on 2008-01-09
I read all the reviews before buying a protective cover for my PSP. I decided on this product because it seemed to have more positive than negs.
I am glad I did. It looks beautiful! There seemed to be some confusion as to application, but I found it as simple as can be. The secret is to have the screen as clean as possible. I laid down the cover and found a couple bubbles near the edge with some missed dust. I just lifted a corner with some scotch tape and removed the dust from the sticky side of filter with another piece of tape. VOILA! Worked like a charm. No bubbles or dust anymore. So try that if you have some bubbles.

  • Overpriced and Does Not Fit Slim PSP-2000
    By A3V9ZQ7GGN56VJ on 2008-03-21
I do not know if the screen size is the same for the PSP original and the PSP-2000 because I only have the slim. If they are the same size, then this HORI product does not fit either. There is going to be a wide gap between the screen edges with this protector with the slim.

The supplied cloth is junk. It is not microfibre and has so much lint and cloth particles on it you are better off using a t-shirt.

It is made of the static high quality screen material, and what it does cover it covers well, however. There are no air bubbles when applied correctly. It is VERY easy to mess this up when applying though, so be prepared to make a few expensive mistakes.

I know HORI also makes a PSP-2000 version of this screen, but this is not it. Maybe that fits better.

  • Super!
    By AWEEVOMJ7J4BL on 2006-02-07
Best of the Best! This is a great product, must have for PSP. If you dont like ugly rubber skins to protect your psp, get this! looks like nothings on the psp, and it has no effect on the visual. The most wonderful thing is that filter is exactly the size of the New video iPod 60GB i just got, so i'm buying one more to put it on my iPod ;)

  • Best PSP Screen Protector
    By AC5F028C6Y68S on 2006-02-12
Well aft er own this item for over 3 months I have to say that this is the best screen protector that you can buy for your psp. The instructions can be confusing but results are well worth it. It keeps in any scratches or fingerprints off of your pretty screen and when they get on the protector you can just wipe that stuff off. I've bought two more for my friends!

  • Wonderful filter that saved my PSP
    By A1L1MOPWAYPKJU on 2006-02-14
Put very simply, you need this protector for your PSP. Don't go for the bargin basement protectors that come 5 to a pack for $3. The Hori protector may be a little more expensive than the others, but you are getting your money's worth. The screen is easy to apply (as long as you're careful), and it is crystal clear. Also, it protects the PSP very well. I dropped my PSP on the ground, it came out of it's case and skidded across the floor, screen down. The Hori protector had some minor scratches on it, but my PSP's screen is still scratch-free. Awesome, awesome product. Must buy if you own a PSP

  • Did my sender mess up?
    By AF8AHGNOG8QX4 on 2006-12-28
The Hori Filter came with the sheets to protect the filter, but when seperated, there was no filter at all!

  • Fantastic Filter for the PSP - Goes on in Minutes!
    By A1MC87GI0NIO4Q on 2007-02-13
I just recently bought my PSP and quickly realized how dirty and scratched the screen can get. I went and looked for different screen protectors, but most were just plastic clip on's and really didn't protect the screen that well.

This may be a piece of plastic to the naked eye but it is far more effective than any other filter that I have seen. The instructions were rather clear to me (you just have to follow them carefully). The kit came with a cleaning cloth which was perfect for me to clean off my screen. It took me about 4 minutes from the time I opened it, read the instructions, cleaned the screen and removed the air bubbles to install this product.

I highly recommend this to any PSP owner it works just great with my PlayGear Pocket by Logitech!

  • Can barely see the protector! No bubbles!
    By ABKBX08QBY9RH on 2007-05-05
I seldom buy stuff online. This is one of my first few purchases because I decided I had to get something to protect my screen. I did alot of research on the internet and read through many reviews before I decided to purchase the hori screen filter. And it's perfect! There are absolutely no bubbles on the screen. I have applied screen protectors before and from my experience, they are extremely difficult to apply perfectly without air bubbles. But the hori filter is just so wonderful that the only bubble on my screen at the start was squeezed out without much effort! And the screen quality is as clear as before and you can barely see the protector on it! Definitely worth buying!

I've read through many other screen protector reviews and this is definitely the best rated so far!

  • 4.5 stars...great product only two minor complaints.
    By A2G2WQ7H75OCN5 on 2007-05-22
    Only gripes are

1.) filter could be just a scant bigger- all four edges of the PSP screen stick out from under the filter.

2.) more a recommendation than a complaint...the ONLY thing that will clean this filter off is a cloth of the same material as the one included...fingerprints are easily seen.

Other than that it does a great job of keeping the screen clean and reducing glare.

  • Needs to go on quick and stay on
    By A6WD7T199Z1XY on 2007-09-16
Great screen protector, but once you take off the film protecting the adhesive layer, you need to slap it on the screen ASAP. Once dust gets on the adhesive layer, it doesn't come off.

  • Disappointing
    By A36OY141A4OJD5 on 2007-10-25
I had purchased this for my original PSP and have been extremly pleased with it, so when I got my newer model PSP, I decided to get another. However, this protector doesn't fit the new PSP screen correctly - it is slighlty too small to completely cover the screen. Besides that, there was an eyelash pre-stuck to my protector (it wasn't mine, it was on the thing before I even took the protective sticker off it). Needless to say, I'm pretty disappointed. Great for the orginal PSP, assuming it doesnt come pre-packaged with someone elses body hair.

  • Works with the Slim
    By AIU5R82TF1ID2 on 2007-11-22
I bought this regardless of people saying it doesn't work well with the new PSP-2000 slim. But I've had no trouble. I recommend it.

  • HORI psp filter
    By A2YUI1NP6UIWSK on 2008-02-29
This filter is awesome. Easy to apply and crystal clear, you forget there is a filter on your psp. Much better than fellowes "universal" screens that create distorted rainbows.

  • Air bubbles and way too small for the screen
    By A13JOO1HKVA0H9 on 2008-03-24
I could not get rid of even most of the air bubbles and the screen protector itself is just too small for a proper fit to the screen anyway. I also purchased the JavoEdge JavoScreen PSP screen protector and was far happier with it. They make one for the both PSPs (original and slim) it fits the screen better and comes with an applicator to get out ALL the air bubbles. See my review on it if you like. I recommend the JavoEdge screen protector over the Hori.
