  • This is the protection your PSP needs.

    By A3OMPSEVL59ZDK on 2005-05-09
This is the best case out there for the PSP.

1)It's protected both on the inside and the outside. The package says that the case is indestructable. The inside contains rubber that will take the impact of any drop leaving your PSP safe and scratch free.

2)The cover is customizable. So you can personalize this case with any picture of your choosing.

3)You can play while it's in the case, so there is no tedious taking in and out of your PSP.

4)It can charge in the case as well.

5)Over all it's worth the price and it beats every other case out there on the market.

  • Protecting While Serving

    By A37ZXCGMXBSYFG on 2005-05-16
This is a very cleanly designed and sturdy system case for the Sony PSP handheld. The clear polycarbonate shell fits the general shape of the PSP with access holes for power, headphone/remote jack, wi-fi, and on/hold switches. The inside of the PlayGear is lined with a rigid, rubber-like compartment that provides a snug fit for the unit itself. You can play your PSP without having to remove it from the case, which is neat, and it feels pretty good in doing so. The hinged top can be folded up to act as a glare screen or almost all the way back to allow you to "stand" the case on a flat surface for viewing UMDs as well.

Initially, I had some difficulty getting the case opened and closed. The latch button is of the pressure-sensitive style, and is molded in as part of the case. I suspect I just need to "break it in", so to speak, but it is worth noting.

Also, despite being designed to protect the unit while it is being used, it lacks a belt clip or other attachment that would make it easier to carry and thus even more portable.

Overall, though, I'm pretty happy with this product. The case is really intended to protect the PSP while you are using it, and in this respect, it does the job well. Those folks looking for a good travel case to store your PSP and accessories while going on a trip might be better served by the Pelican Road Pak kit, or other type of carry bag.

    Here's the quick rundown:

    Pros:
    Clean lines/attractive styling
    Lightweight
    Sturdy
Access holes for charging, controlling the unit, or listening to MP3s while closed
Case doubles as a glare screen or viewing stand

    Cons:
Latch is a little difficult to open
No additional compartments for extra storage
No belt clip or carry strap attachments
Still need a separate transparent overlay or monifilm guard for screen protection

  • Not for PSP Slim & Light (PSP-2000)

    By AY5IL05TZPIZO on 2007-12-04
The ordering process and delivery was as smooth as possible (thanks, Amazon.com), but this product is not designed for the new PSP Slim & Light (PSP-2000), which is what I have. I wish the product description made that clear. The new PSP sits loose in the case, and the earphone socket is covered by the case while the unit is inside the case. Luckily, Amazon.com took it back, no hassle, and even paid for the return shipping. Can't beat the service.

I had to rate it in order to leave this review, so I'm giving it four stars. It looks like a superbly made and sturdy product, and enough people seem to be happy with it.

  • At Last! A Case That Makes Sense!

    By A298TTGJ598XKA on 2005-07-02
There is probably nothing more annoying to me than having to plunk down a chunk of change for a case for an already expensive portable gaming system. I mean, why not just make the system with the proper protection straight out of the box, right? The PSP is awfully cool to play and to just look at, but it's prone to any myriad of scratches or scuffs - not the sort of thing you want to see happen to your new, pretty little piece of tech. The "case" (if you want to call it that) that comes with the PSP "Value Pack" is nothing more than a padded slipcover - not very practical in any sense of the word. I've also tried the Intec metal hard case. It does its job, certainly, but it's basically only good for transporting the PSP. It offers no protection while playing, which is exactly why Logitech's new case is vastly superior to anything I've come across.

Sleek and cool, the Logitech Playgear Pocket matches in style and substance the stylish form factor of the PSP. Just slip your PSP into the clear polycarbonate case and you're done. The clamshell case closes to fully protect the system, while allowing full access to powerports and more. The interior of the case features rubberized padding, so it seems more than plausible that it can protect the PSP from substantial falls onto hard surfaces like concrete.

But the coolest thing about the Playgear Pocket is that once you place your PSP inside it, you never need to remove it. The Playgear allows access to the shoulder buttons on the PSP even from within its protective casing. The flip top also serves as a handy sun shield if you're playing outside, and it flips all the way back to create a stand if you want to watch a movie on the PSP without holding the system the entire time (I suppose this could be handy on a long flight, but it's at best a marginal benefit - especially considering the short battery life of the PSP).

The one gripe I have about the Playgear (and the reason this review gives it four stars rather than five) is that it provides no space for carrying games or other accessories (such as the large, unweildy power cord). But the Playgear is designed for maximum protection, not maximum storage space, so I can certainly live with the limitation.

Now - if only Logitech could make something similar for the Nintendo DS................... :)

  • not really for the psp2k

    By A1YVBLIJAWZ1QQ on 2007-10-14
i just bought a piano black psp2k (mostly for movies while travelling) and thought this case would offer good protection while in my bag, which it does. the reason that i gave it 2 stars is that one of the best features for my intended purpose was the 270 degree hinge to make a stand while watching movies. unfortunately the psp2k headphone jack is in a place that's covered (just barely) so there's no way to use this a stand and have your headphones plugged in. the wireless on/off is also covered so that's useless as well.

i think it should be noted in the product description that this item doesn't work well (other than protection) for the psp2k. unfortunate.

  • Good, stylish protection
    By A1N3GNCJWXQ1ZP on 2005-07-12
Several other people already touched on some of the aspects of the PlayGear Pocket for PSP, so I'll try to add a few details.

The PlayGear Pocket is made of a tough, highly-polished transparent material. The inside of the case is lined with black rubberized padding. The effect is visually beautiful. The sleek high-tech black look, encased in an almost-glass-quality shell is just stunning.

The PSP is held quite securely in it. The lid is hinged and opened by pressing on the panel on the front. The lid can swing all the way back so that the unit can "stand" to make it easier to watch movies or video. It's a very nice design!

    Now for the negatives.

    1) The case itself, while lightweight, still adds some weight and size to the unit. This is not really a bad thing since any kind of case offering any kind of real protection would do the same (there's no way around that). Since there's a noticeable size and weight increase while the PSP is in the case, it definitely becomes a bit more unweildy to operate the PSP while it's in the case, possibly increasing the chance to drop the unit. I'm not saying it's uncomfortable to operate the unit, just that it's larger and heavier and not nearly as ergonomic to use.

    2) Yes, you can operate the PSP while it's in the case. But unlike some of the other reviews here would suggest, your system isn't really "protected" if you're operating it while the lid is open (and outside of playing music, anything you do would require the lid to be open). While it's a secure, snug fit, nothing actually "holds" the PSP in the case. If you're playing a game and drop it, since the lid is open, the PSP can very easily pop out upon impact. In that regard, one of the rubberized slipcovers that are available may offer better protection.

    3) I haven't had the unit for very long, but I imagine over time the beautiful clear finish will get marred with minor scratches and scuffs. Such is the price to pay for something so stylish though.

    4) Since it only acts as a very stylish, rugged cover, it has no capability of allowing you to carry games, the charger, headphones, or any other peripherals.

In spite of the negatives, the case is quite wonderful. It's an incredibly stylish and attractive way to store your PSP. It's perfect for keeping your PSP protected while it's not in use (it looks great even when it's just laying around!), and a great way to transport your PSP. Don't mistake it for one of the rubberized slipcovers that protects it while in use. Instead, think of it as an incredibly well-designed cross between a carrying case and a protection slipcover.

I have no regrets at all over buying it.

  • Not compatible with psp 2000
    By A37KJ2VBOD2W92 on 2007-10-05
The openings do not allow access to the headphone jack. Meaning if you wanted to use headphones with this case you would have to take the psp out. Kinda defeats the purpose. Also the switch for wifi in the psp 2000 is on top and there is no access hole for that either. Functional only for old psp edition.

  • NOT MADE FOR NEW MODELS
    By A2YTXGGSBSGRXY on 2007-11-17
This case will not allow the earphone to be plugged in when using the NEW models. (Silver and Star Wars)

  • NOT FOR PSP SLIM! BUT>........
    By A3AGYFHNUQX2EN on 2008-01-04
This case is NOT for the psp slim... But for anyone that is going to or already has the case, you can make adjustments for it psp to fit. When I got
the case I thought that the thing would never fit...But I was wrong, If you put some Styrofoam at the bottom of the case, that way the psp will be lifted so it won't jiggle around so much. Next I used my drill on the side so the ear buds would fit in the hole.

Another thing I hate is the edge on the left side, so I sanded it down.
It's to big too, but it makes you feel like you have something(for only psp slims).
If you have it and want to send it back, it costs more for for shipping then what you payed for.
I only rate this item for 3 stars because it would be great with the core.

IF YOU HAVE A SLIM, DO NOT GET THIS ITEM!

  • Logitech Play Gear Pocket for the PSP
    By A2Y1MZMU7M8N0P on 2005-07-19
I love this PSP protector. It's sweet looking right from the package Great protection for your PSP and you can customize it by placing pictures behind the rubber padding. You can go to http://www.modmypsp.com to download images to put into your Playgear pocket. I reccommend going to kinkos with these and getting them to print up a few of them on high quailty photo paper, they even cut them out for you.

  • Best case for a handheld!
    By A2RII0V3IITEML on 2005-11-03
This is one of the best cases for the psp out there, it does what it does, PROTECTS YOUR PSP! It is virtually indestructible and its small and fits your psp perfectly, so its not like the GBA cases that you use to save games and everything, nono waste of space, this case is the best case out there, GET IT if you have a psp and you dont want it to get scratched

  • Great quality, very sturdy, intelligent design, looks great!
    By AQBBP5TR3KAQ5 on 2005-05-23
I wasn't sure the cost was warranted for this case... until I held it in my hands.

I noticed the quality in it's weight. It feels very solid. The lid opens with a "friction hinge" so it stays put where you leave it. There are openings in the sides for access to the power, WiFi, and shoulder buttons, and more openings for the power cord, headset, and wrist-carrying strap, so that the PSP is playable from inside the case.

The case consists of two distinct layers including a thick clear plastic outer shell and a thick hardened rubber lining on the interior. The look is very sleek and resembles deep black glass or black marble. The PSP fits perfectly inside and is actually easier to play with the slightly larger dimensions. I noticed that the warmth from the battery was insulated from my hands which was nice and the lid could be propped upright to block light or help balance the weight while I was holding it. This may not seem like much but I was very grateful for the added comfort during long gaming sessions. I also noticed that the concave shape of the lid provided tremendous amplification of the modest PSP stereo speakers really adding depth to the bass tones and subtle stereo effects. Excellent!

The lid also opens up to a right angle behind it so that you can prop it up on a table or desk for watching movies. Amazing!

I completely charged the PSP while it was inside the case closed tight and there was absolutely no heat build-up, so it's safe at all times under all circumstances.

In fact I haven't taken it out of the case and can't imagine ever needing to (save leaning it forward to change UMD's). The portable power of the PSP is greatly enhanced by the intelligent protection of this Logitech case. A "must"!

  • If you own a PSP, you need one of these
    By A1L1MOPWAYPKJU on 2005-07-18
The Logitech Playgear Pocket is the best PSP peripheral to be released yet. The nearly indestructable polycarbonate is suitable armor for the fragile PSP. You can also play the PSP while it is still in the playgear, a great feature. It is a little bulky, and makes the PSP have quite a footprint in a pocket. Other than that slight flaw, this armor is perfect

  • Best PSP case on the market.
    By A9P9JHT09XWKS on 2006-11-12
I was really tired of Sony's little soft case in my pocket, keeping me worried all the time that if something hit it, my psp would be damaged. After seeing my friend have one of these Logitech Playgear Pocket cases, I had to get one and it was worth every penny.

First off, security. This case is near indestructable, and you'll feel comfortable with this case on your PSP. The insides are made with a hard rubber that fits the PSP snugly inside to prevent any damage and the clasp is really strong.

Now moving on to style. The four corners of the PSP (L button, R button, Headphone jack and AC jack) have a small opening on this case so you can listen to music with the case still closed! There's also an opening for the Power/Hold switch and WLAN switch as well... though I don't see as big of a point to it. If all that wasn't fun enough, the rubber can come out on the top side of the case and you can print out your own custom insert or have a picture of your favorite game on the case! The PSP is also still playable in the case when it is flipped open, so you don't have to mess with taking it out every single time.

I'd highly recommend this to anyone worried about damage to their PSP. This will put all their worries to rest and it looks attractive to boot.

  • The best PSP protector!! A MUST-BUY for PSP owners...
    By A1LIKAELX3DZ68 on 2006-12-09
I love my Sony PSP and so i wanted to protect it from scratches and cracks.. Well then i found this on Amazon and read its reviews.. The price was not much so i thought i would got for it.. Then when i seated my PSP in it, WooW, it fitted perfectly and believe me the elegance of the PSP is also retained the design is awesome and allows you to play while its in the case, Its top cover can be inclined to the desired extent, it also helps to keep direct sunshine away from your psp screen.. The inside is this case is cushioned so as to take all the impact in the event of you dropping it..
The design is so good that charging port and the On-Off/Hold switch is not covered and so you can charge, switch on/off/hold while the PSP is seated in the case..
Well the price is awesome and is a MUST-BUY for all PSP owners to protect their valuable possession.. So its not a recommendation to buy, its a suggestion of must-buy..

    Value for money - 5/5
    Protection - 5/5
    Design - 5/5
    Overall - 5/5

    Awesome product Logitech !!

  • Quite a gem
    By A3EK57ZHMA55G5 on 2005-06-22
By now, you'd have read many reviews on Logitech's PlayGear Pocket, so I'll try to keep this short. With $20 to spare, you'll find that this offering from Logitech is perhaps the best that you can find in a sea of PSP protection cases released by several companies.

The key selling point of the PlayGear Pocket is its functionality. When you buy a case to protect something, the attribute that most concerns you would be how well it actually protects. The PlayGear Pocket does this well. Made of clear polycarbonate, the case looks, and most importantly, feels tough. The inner walls of the case are clothed in rubber, providing a firm grip that holds your console nicely in place. If you're justifying your purchase soley in terms of its ability to offer protection, it's pretty obvious that the PlayGear Pocket will serve your requirement. The case also has several cut-outs that allow you to access the "L" and "R" buttons, the power and WI-FI switches, and the earphones and charger jacks at the four corners of your PSP. This means that you can essentially use your PSP without removing it from the case. That's pretty useful, I think. But yet, the PlayGear Pocket is more than just that.

Still on the area of functionality, the PlayGear Pocket also provides good value by providing a makeshift visor and transforming into a cradle for holding your PSP. These are made possible with a friction hinge, which allows the cover of the case to stay in place in any angle up to 270 degrees. Lifting the cover up slightly allows it to filter off glare, and pushing it all the way back turns the case into a stand, which is ideal for purposes such as movie-watching. Now, that sounds like some good multi-tasking.

Apart from satisfying your need for functionality, the PlayGear Pocket is also nicely designed. Despite having a thick outer layer, the case is designed to fit the shape of your PSP, making the size of it is just slightly bigger than the console itself. This will please buyers who want a cool-looking case without too much excess baggage. The combination of clear plastic and black rubber also makes the PlayGear Pocket appears sleek and stylish. If you're easily appealed by appearance, you'll fall in love with this product. What's more? The case is also customizable, so you can even make your own skin for the cover. This should please gamers who prefer to have their own unique identity.

The down side of the PlayGear Pocket is obviously its weight. It adds considerable package to an already heavy PSP, making it quite like holding a brick at times. Also, despite allowing access to your buttons and switches, the design of the case also means that it's impossible to attach a USB cable from your computer to your PSP when it's in the case. These are not major issues though, and should not be seen as forms of deterrence.

So, eventually, I didn't manage to keep this short. Nevertheless, I hope that I've done enough to impress you to get this product. The PlayGear Pocket is streets ahead of most, if not all its competitor, and having it with allows you to finally kiss the dodgy sleeve that came with your PSP Value Pack goodbye. It didn't take me a long time to buy this, and I think you should too.

  • Great Case
    By on 2005-07-12
This is a great case. It is all the protection you need for your psp. I dont even have a screen protector for it. You can play your psp even while it's in the case. The psp is easy to put in and take out. Dosen't work so well as a "sun visor" though

  • Logitech has major skills
    By A5UAIEDBQU9WD on 2005-12-28
The Playgear Pocket is simply THE best case you can possibly buy for your PSP. I have dropped mine many a time, and it has protected my PSP. One of the biggest features is the ability to customize. There are rubber inserts that can come out so you can put in, say, photos or art. The case also gives access to all of the ports except the USB port. It additionaly gives acces to the shoulder buttons while at the same time protecting them to a certain extent.

Bottom line: If you want your PSP to survive, you simply MUST have this case. It provides Protection, portability, and the ability to customize.

  • GRRRREAT CASE
    By AOUK668LZEX12 on 2006-04-08
This case really protected my PSP.I was playing on my psp on top of porch.I was sitting on the ledge. Then I accidently dropped my psp and I was so scared, because my lid was opened,so I jumped off the ledge(about 6 feet away from ground)and I kicked the lid close. But it was even worse when I landed,I accidently stepped on the case with my psp inside and it didn't BREAK!!!!!SOOOOO AMAZING!!!!!!

  • A wonderful Innovative Idea, with one big draw back for kids.
    By on 2006-10-08
I bought this case at Eb games for $20, now that may seem alot, but I knew i couldnt live with out a case. At school numerous of my friends have gone through many PSP's just because of simple drops that have broken the On/off switch or Jammed a button, even broken it in half! I did not want this happening to me.
Before i got this case i did alot of research, and this was the only case, ONLY case that had this good of a drop protection, First off The hard plastic case on the outside is almost indestructible, which is great if you drop it from a high drop, second is the rubber on the inside, this is the one thing that makes this case great, the rubber acts as a shock absorber because if you just had the plastic, like most cases do, the focre from the drop goes straight to the PSP, (plastic cases are only good for scratch resistant, NOT impact protection) so even when you drop it on a hard surface it is like the psp landing on a bunch of pillows. another thing great about the rubber insole is the fact that rubber doesnt scratch the screen or the PSP. this is a very innovative case.
As i said in the title there is one fairly big drawback to kids my age, kids my age, most of them carry their PSP's in their pockets, and even thought this case will stop your PSP from being scratched, the rubber and plastic add about 1/4 of an inch to the dimensions of your PSP in this case the PSP wont fit easily into all pockets. i suggest wearing cargo pants, or measuring your pockets BEFORE you buy this product! if you carry your PSP in a bag or in your hand, you will love this case because it's great protection and very lightweight!

    I hope this helps!

    A 14 year old.

  • Love it!
    By A1D0W55C9KY1N8 on 2006-11-07
The PlayGear Pocket is great. Perfectly protects my PSP while leaving access to the headphone jack and AC adapter jack. You can also play the PSP while its in the case. And, it can be opened up all the way to act as a stand for watching movies and videos on the PSP. Must have piece of gear.

  • Sweet!

This thing rules!!! It really protects ur PSP. I accidentally dropped my PSP down the stairs and the PlayGear Pocket kept it nice and safe :)

    By A21SUC9JPTNMNB on 2006-12-11
If your looking for a good review about this wonderful case than its your lucky day!

    Pros
    1. it's made with a strong plastic on the outside that they say is unbreakable.(did some drop tests and everything went smooth)

    2. You can change the style of the case by putting pictures.

    3. There are holes at the corners. two in the front where the L & R buttons are so you can play your psp while its in the case and two in the back so you can charge your psp while its in the case.

    4. There are 3 ways the case can be used. 1. as a case duh! 2. as a sun blocker and 3. a movie holder

    Now the cons

    5. There is no room 4 anything but the psp.

    6. After a few months (or depending how many times you dropped it) it gets all scratched up.

    7. you have to be carefull beacause all the corners are open.

Personally, i love this case and hopefully you will to.

  • This is the worst case you could buy
    By A2HZPJWY2UGR3Y on 2007-02-19
I bought this case when I got my PSP almost a year ago. I traded it back in within about 2 weeks. The design seems ok at first, but you're taking your chances. Luckily, I learned this a foot from a harder carpeted floor. If it accidentally falls, the latch fails--the case pops open, and your PSP goes sliding across the floor. It would have been worse for mine had it been an uncarpeted floor. I would suggest getting a zippered case instead--this design does not have sturdy enough protection for your system.

  • Don't leave home without it
    By AGGGAJQZXBWQY on 2005-06-09
I bought this at the same time as my PSP and to tell the truth I haven't even held the PSP without it. It fits perfectly, all the buttons and the charger are accessible and best of all you can play the PSP while in the case. I'm so used to it that the my PSP feels naked without it. And best of all it's very affordable and looks sleek too.

The only downfall is that the latch does not open easily, but that's probably a good thing.

do what the title says you wont be sorry this is the best case and it even flips over so you can see movies and videos with a great view and its virtually indestructable i have dropped my psp 4 times without this case my psp would be broken but instead it hasnt been harmed at all get this

  • Very convienient little thing
    By A9TMNU73G7XL8 on 2006-03-26
For anyone that has a PSP, this is your case, it allow you to do more than an average case would, and it does all of this exceptionally well.

First of all it can function as a normal case that just covers the PSP. It is very secure and is designed to fit the PSP with almost no room for it to move around inside. It has easily accessible opening that go to the PSP's recharge and earphone jacks. I find this really convenient because every night I put my PSP in my case and recharge it at the same time, and so the next day all I have to do is unplug my the recharge cord and Im all set. (even though the case has the earphone jack so that you can listen to music on the go, I never use it considering memory and that I have better ways to listen to music, so I'd doubt that you'd use it much.)

Second of all you can play the PSP while its in its case because of the openings for the shoulder buttons. I see how this can be useful, but I personally rarely use it. Though this case is good at protecting, its not good at keeping the PSP in while the lid is open. I found this out the night I got my PSP, but luckily it only fell a foot or so to my cushioned bed *sigh of relief*. So if you're planning on use the case for this be wary.

Third of all the case functions to prop the PSP so that you can watch movies without having to hold the PSP for the whole two hours you're going to watch the movie for. While this is really nice if you're sitting at a table, it can be very tiresome to find a way to keep it level if you're just trying to sit down and watch a movie. The trick is to find a comfortable place to rest your arms so that you can watch the movie without to much screen movement.

Overall this is a really good case, its sturdy, it has many uses, and it just does its job well, which is definitely worth the 13 bucks. Enjoy :-)

IT WILL SCRATCH YOUR SCREEN LIKE YOU WOULDNT BELIEVE... I GOT IT FOR XMAS FROM MY SISTER AND I THOUGHT IT WAS AWESOME BECAUSE IT DOUBLES AS A STAND FOR WHEN YOU ARE WATCHING MOVIES... BUT IF YOU HAVE YOUR PSP IN THIS CASE IT WILL GET SCRATCHED!!!! THERE ARE "CONVENIENCE" OPENINGS FOR AC AND HEADPHONES AND SAND AND GRIT WILL GET IN SIDE AND STICK TO THE RUBBER LINING AND SCRATCH YOUR SCREEN BEYOND REPAIR!!! DO NOT BUY THIS CASE!!!

  • The One To Get
    By A2X48XAIS788IW on 2006-05-17

I bought this the same day I purchased my PSP. Over the past several months it has saved my PSP from damage more than once. The best money I have ever spent on a protective case and I am glad I did.

The foam material inside the case fits perfectly around the PSP. It not only prevents damage and scratches, it's is a tight fit and won't shake around if you are carrying in a bag or backpack. The logitech case has done it's job on several falls from tables, and an attack by my dog, who dragged it around the house when I was gone. Besides a few scratches on the case, the PSP survived.

Great product, better than anything else on the market by a huge margin. The only thing you need to remember is push the latch down tightly, if you don't hear the click, the case can pop open.

  • Good investmernt
    By A1RNZ9GP0S8F4E on 2006-11-05
I bought this because of all the reviews I read regarding the protection of a PSP this one came out on top, and I cannot dissagree with them after having purchased and used this item. The case can be used as a stand for when you watch a movie and you don't want to hold the PSP. You can also play your Games while the case is open.

Bottom line is you will pay $200+ for a PSP, memory card, and games, so is it not worth protecting with a case?
