  • Super Fun--Get Two For a Better Workout

    By ACG804LHU688Z on 2006-05-02
(This is the same review I wrote for the Bally Twist Board, but this product is identical except for the color.)

We had one of these when I was a kid too (1960s). All of us kids fought over it (that's probably why my parents made it disappear). Now I can have one of my own. In fact, I have two. You get a better workout with two--one for each foot.

I fell on the ice this winter (rats!) and these little twister boards have been excellent to help work out the pain that still lingers in my right hip. I stand on them while I read and twist gently. I use light weights and dance around on, and off of, them to music. I keep them handy, near the kitchen, so I can use them whenever. I love them.

If you're concerned about them slipping on the floor just use some that Rubbermaid squishy shelf liner stuff underneath them. Hold onto a countertop if you're concerned about balance and turn your legs all the way in and out, together and separatley. You can mess around with weight transfer too--stand on one leg and twist the other or put weight right on the leg and twist. Both ways are fun and good movement increasers. You'll enjoy working your hips, obliques, and lungs (if you really get going) this way. I even put them on my kitchen stool tops and sit on them sometimes.

They're so inexpensive and so fun they're really worthwhile.

  • It Twists!

    By A25G7AVWRE6RVO on 2005-10-14
It works great if you remember to use it. That's the main problem. I am 52 and remember having something like this when I was a kid. I used it then, for my waist size, but I use it now for to just twist to make my back feel good.

  • fun but very small

    By A2DESO9ETDR14D on 2006-05-15
This is a fun twist board, however it is only 10 inches, not alot of room to stand and twist if you are very big. I can do it, but would be more comfortable if they would add a couple of inches.

  • Prefers one side

    By A1P1IWNQZ444RH on 2006-11-13
This product was great the first month I owned it, but with continued use I saw that without even my trying to go in one direction, it would move on it's own. Much like how gravity has a tendency to pull your limbs and body in one direction...it felt like I all of a sudden was a lot heavier on my left side. Well, I can't say I really got much of an effective workout after I discovered I was working harder to not spin in a one directional circle, pretty much counter-productive. I guess I got what I paid for. Although since I had ordered two, I've modified my workout to incorporate the both which actually does work. I don't spin. Not a complete waste of money.

  • wouldn't buy it again

    By AI6VXZNRHKOA2 on 2007-01-14
The twist board is extremely tiny, though i guess for the price its not logical to expect something very large. It does work although i just got it a week ago and can now hear random part rolling around inside of it. It seems to be relatively poor quality, but its not like i expected anything else for the cost. You definitely get what you pay for.

  • Small board
    By A1T96R1TUKP58G on 2007-02-26
You can get a good twisting motion with this board for your waist. It is a fun and easy to travel with workout. However, the board itself is a bit small for a larger person. Unless you have cat-like balance and yoga poses, it is hard to put both feet on this board.

I suppose it makes for a better exercise. Flexing and working all your muscles to support yourself. Someone needs to make a board with a larger base.

  • Great for a skating spin trainer
    By A35488Y1ZGIF6Y on 2007-01-16
I got a tip to try this instead of the more expensive spin trainers that are used to improve spins in figure skating. While I've never tried the more expensive ones made specifically to practice spinning, this one seems to do the trick. It helps me get the feel of spinning around quickly, which should help me feel less dizzy when I try to spin on the ice. For the price, it's worth a shot.

  • excellent, small, portable aerobic exercise device
    By A2SPM6CZJQAVZ1 on 2007-10-24
I must do aerobic exercises daily, but since I live in a studio apartment, there is no room for aerobic equipment. Fast walking is great when the weather is good, but bad weather and traveling hobble my exercise efforts.

This little device is excellent and I've recommended it to friends. I recently brought it on a 3 day trip and was able to exercise several times daily without interrupting the flow of events. I wish I could bring it to the office with me! It's really easy to use anywhere.

I get my heart rate up to 125, which isn't super high, but does the trick. Note that I ordered a different make with a wider diameter from another company as I think more foot room would increase comfort and speed. That said, I'm very satisfied with this product and use it daily, which has been especially helpful as I'm recovering from a hip injury.

  • Love this little thing...
    By A1GJSLCUVDRQWA on 2007-09-14
After using this for a week or two my husband noticed my abs looked a little tighter. All you need is a little motivation & to combine it with other routines.

  • Nostalgic fun
    By A28OS6IZHFX6AO on 2008-06-01
My wife inquired whether or not they even built these anymore so much to our delight we went to Amazon and sure enough there's even more than one model. It seeemed small to us when we first got them, one each, but they perform perfectly and have been proven by my weight to be quite sturdy. We use ours while watching TV instead of just sitting there and getting bigger. The workout you get is low impact and gets you moving a little bit. We both had these when we were kids in th 50s and 60s and its still just as fun to use now. Highly recommended. The price is right too.

  • Twister - Take it and go!
    By AJFJQ7IIHKOQT on 2007-11-21
This product is a classic and still great! You can move it wherever you want and twist away - it's great in front of the tv. I use weights with it for added benefit.

  • Fun and functional
    By A34TVN6NL8X9MX on 2008-05-03
This thing is fun! But this silly, little disk also helps me work the kinks out of my hip and lower back like no other exercise I've found. And you can't beat the price. I keep mine at the office and take a few minutes to "do the Twist" after I've been sitting for hours. Two thumbs up!

  • Fantastic
    By A4EGJY7JVIZMU on 2008-07-14
I bought this product a month ago and I just love it. I get on this twist board everyday and since I bought it I have seen results in my waist. I use it every morning before I go to work and once in the evening before dinner. Always use it before you eat. I would purchase this item again and again. I will always have one. YOU HAVE TO GET ONE!

  • twisting again...
    By A14R9XMZVJ6INB on 2008-07-28
We love this twist board in our family. Everyone does it, but me especially. It's fun, easy to do in front of the television and you can really feel it afterwards, it's doing something!
And in terms of value for money, it's amazing! Unbelievably good value.
We'll probably get another one and then have twist offs. Suitable for everyone with some sense of balance - 5 years and up? Our 10 yo loves it.
It's really lots of fun, excellent value and genuinely aerobic - what more could you want!? Very happy and confident to recommend it.

  • Works Well
    By AVRVTCYJ2VBWZ on 2008-09-10
I've used this product for about 3 months now and it hasn't given me any problems. It works just as described. Great product for women.
