Timex Men's Ironman 50-Lap Combo Analog Digital Dress Watch #T5E351x$46.22

(34 reviews)

Best Price: $79.95 $46.22

The Timex T5E351 blends its signature Ironman Triathlon multi-function, performance sport digital watch with an analog read-out. The dual-tech feature enables you to turn the digital screen off for just an analog watch display, with its luminous hands and red seconds hand. The large, rounded watch case has a dark gray resin body with a silver stainless steel top ring with 10-minute marks printed on the bezel. It offers a top pusher for easy access to lap and split times, 100-hour chronograph with lap or split option, 50-lap memory recall, 99-lap counter, 24-hour countdown timer with countdown/stop and countdown/repeat functions. It also features built-in reminder settings, forward/backward setting, and water resistance to 100 meters (330 feet).

The Indiglo night-light uniformly lights the surface of the watch dial using patented blue electroluminescent lighting technology. It uses less battery power than most other watch illumination systems, enabling your watch battery to last longer. The Night Mode feature allows you to illuminate the Indiglo night-light for 3 seconds with any button press, regardless of the mode or function. MPN: T5E3519J - UPC: 753048134830

  • Love it

    By A3RE8IL5PCI70F on 2006-01-29
It completely serves its purpose and all functions work well. I also really like the look.

  • Not Scratch Resistant

    By A119HWR3ZUN1FQ on 2007-04-27
I've owned it for a few months. The crystal scratches easily. Mine has a dozen or more serious scratches which makes the face hard to read. Not a good buy.

  • Great Digital features, that can be hidden for classier analog look

    By A2UJ848434CI3I on 2006-11-19
Nicely designed, holds up well, and exceeded my expectations

  • Large and ugly

    By A1MX3TCTZ9NWRG on 2007-03-30
I would not purchase this watch, infact i returned mine. The silver surrounding the crystal looks like tin foil. Its very large. Overall it looks cheap, feels cheap, it is cheap. The only thing I liked was the black background.

  • Non replaceable band is show stopper.

    By A1NXYQPK2A5K92 on 2008-03-09
I like the watch. I like the huge digital display. I like having the analog dial (I am old school). I like indiglo. I like the easy dual time zone swap. I like the ease of setting the time.

If only they had a replaceable band...or a better one. (like the new stainless model sold here on amazon)

My first band died at about 10 months...first the little strap that keeps the band in place broke off...yes broke the plastic turned brittle and it shattered.

The band itself broke off at the buckle part within a month. (I even used a rubber band to keep the strap secure till that point). I tried to get a replacement band...no dice.

Luckily it was under warrantee...so I sent it back, and they sent me a refurbished watch that looked new.

Well here I am again...11 months later that retainer strap became brittle and broke off...and the band is showing cracks near the buckle area. So within the month this band will break off also...but it is out of warrantee now...

I did not use this watch in chlorine or salt water. I did not expose the band to any kind of chemicals (fuel, cleaners etc)...unless my skin is dangerous...the band is simply faulty.

I will get the stainless one next...hopefully THAT one doesn't fall apart.

  • Great watch imprisoned in a cheap band
    By AOS5D5IPLX3OU on 2008-05-21
I love using this watch and I love that you can turn the digital display on and off. It has all the functions I want and none that I don't. This is definitely the best blend of tasteful and sporty I could find for the money. It goes with any kind of attire.

Unfortunately, it has a fatal flaw. The band is disintegrating and I can no longer wear it. The band is a soft rubber - actually a really nice matte texture. But it started tearing near a bend point at the clasp. Since then, I lost the race between new tears and my tape and glue repairs. It lasted me about 18 months until that started happening. If only the band was made out of a lasting material, I would have kept this for many years. Curse you Timex!!

If anyone figured out a way to hack the band with something that lasts, please post a follow up. I loved it while it lasted.... For the low cost, maybe I'll replace it every 18 months.

(This is my second watch from Timex and they have each lasted me about this long. Maybe that tells us something. Timex, are you listening? Good.)

  • Nice watch
    By A2BC7AW4X8SMCP on 2006-08-28
Timex Ironman has been my kind of watch for long time now. Great watch to wear anytime.

  • Good Watch
    By A32G4KNHLQLKR6 on 2006-11-07
I use this watch everyday at work and working out. Looks great. Very comfortable and no problems so far. Would definitely recommend this watch if you're looking for a watch to wear while exercising and while going out on a friday night.

  • poor band quality limits life of watch
    By AW34Q5QMC0DQ2 on 2008-04-20
The watch itself is great but after only a year the band starting tearing in muliple places until it completely broke apart...and not from extreme use - I work in an office setting and am by no means an "ironman". The band is permanently connected to the watch so there is no option of replacing the band. Very disappointing. I've tried superglueing it but I have to re-glue every month or so. If you are going to go with an Ironman watch go with one that has either a replaceable band or one of different design.

  • Reset button
    By A3GKTV6CKDBPAJ on 2007-04-27
I had this watch only for few days
    Pros: Looks sturdy
Big display and easy to see.
Cons: The red rest button is hard to press, therefore can be a challenge during runs. As I bought this one for its stopwatch function and its hard to press the reset button for the stopwatch, therefore only 3 stars.
The clock hands don't illuminate at night, as compared to few other Timex models.

  • Didn't stand test of time.
    By AH5X0340J855C on 2008-08-07
Purchased this watch in Jan. of 2007. It is now Aug. 2008 and the band has already broken. The design of the watch prevents a new band to replace it, so I am stuck purchasing a whole new watch. This watch wasn't worn in hard environments and not daily. Disappointed in the short life span. Would not recommend.

  • Good for the money
    By A2VM04HLGH3CCJ on 2006-11-10
Fair quality, design and look for the money.
What is not so good is that the back light lasts only 2 sec.

  • Great watch!
    By A2ELJNRNLR07AF on 2007-01-11
I use this watch both as a daily timepiece and for timing my runs. The ability to turn off the digital display gives it a refined look, even for an Ironman series. I like the catch incorporated into the watch band so it doesn't pull out of the guide (something that used to drive me crazy with my other watches). If you're looking for a sports watch that you can wear out on the town, this fits the bill.

  • A Solid Watch.
    By A1L3J6AMC4BP81 on 2007-09-19
I've had this watch a few weeks now, and I've been very happy. It shows a lot of information on the face, and I do like the ability to turn off the digital display. It has been accurate, reliable, and durable, and the 2nd time zone feature that I didn't notice when I ordered it has been a nice feature. The watch band is molded plastic/rubber, and part of the watch, so there is no way to replace the band if you want to.

  • Functional
    By A34TF8ZI5A891A on 2007-12-17
I had hoped this would be a watch that would "cross over," i.e., work well as a casual, everyday watch as well as one that could be worn to work and out on the town. In the latter regard, I was somewhat disappointed because the watch ended up looking pretty plastic and Timex-y. It's certainly an aesthetic improvement over earlier Timexes, but it won't outclass anybody. For the price, though, it's a great watch. It's durable and has more features than I will ever get around to using. I'm tempted to time my laps back and forth between my desk and the copy machine at work, just for the hell of it.

  • Digital clock setting doesn't work and not for diving
    By ASA02R40EU62Y on 2007-12-26
Following the instructions, three of us could not get the digital time to ever set. Then the website was a bit misleading in that it says it's good for a DEPTH of 100 meters. We searched Amazon for a "dive watch" and this watch came up. Once we got it, the instructions state not for diving. What good is 100 meters DEPTH if you're not DIVING to that DEPTH? NOT A DIVE WATCH. Am returning product.

  • Horrible Watch Band
    By A6AGN1U1BDB0V on 2008-01-09
I've noticed that lots of the reviewers have only owned the watch for a couple of months to weeks. I've owned my watch for over a year. I LOVE the watch but I HATE the band. It has already broken TWICE. I took it to a watch repair place and the guy told me it was impossible to fix the band because it is integrated into the watch itself. Thus I actually have duct tape keeping the band together (along with some staples). I could go online and order a total band which a jewelrer can replace, but that will cost almost as much as a new watch. So I am giving the watch a one star rating just because the band is useless. I think a lot of people will change their mind about their watch once the band breaks. They make a total metal band and I will go with that the next time around. As I said above, I love the watch itself for its features and ability to display both analog and digital time simultaneously.

  • Great features, great price and very stylish
    By A1J97J7NVYKOA6 on 2008-01-31
The watch arrived yesterday and right out of the box I was amazed at two things. First, the watch band is a nice soft rubber that is very flexible, but it does not feel cheap. The second is the clarity of the watch face. Very easy to read. It took all about two minutes to set up the time with the digital face as well as two different time zones with the instructions provided. I also like the fact that you can hide the digital clock and date by holding down one button. The indiglo light is also bright enough for my needs. All in all, great buy for the price and I hope that it lasts for a long long time.

  • The band, and hence the watch, are short lived
    By A227EXM3SEKQBE on 2008-07-04
I loved the watch: Large display, good looking, excelent functionality. However, the band and the case are one piece of resin, and the band teats very easly after quite a short time. Unfortunately, it is unrepairable (I tried some ugly repair but than the band broke in another location soon after)

  • Hard to read
    By A2SOGGC3XTX2Y1 on 2008-10-01
Some sites show photos of this watch where the digital readout is bright white on a black background -- that's not what you'll see on the actual wach. The Amazon photo is more realistic. The digits are a dark grey on a black background. In some lights, this is easy to read, but most of the time, it is a challenge because the contrast is so low. As compared to the previous Timex I had with dark letters on a light background, this one is much harder to read. In a dark room with the backlight on, the contrast improves considerably.

The digital and analog time keeping is just fine, it's been spot-on for weeks. But you may well find that the digital display is almost useless unless you're in good lighting. And there seems to be a good chance you'll have the band tear, and this cannot be replaced. That's what spoiled my previous Timex, and many reviewers said that their built-in band Timexes also suffered the same fate.

On the upside, it looks very elegant when you turn off the digital display and just have the analog hands on a black background.

  • timex watch
    By A12ZVPU3VO7BN2 on 2007-01-03
Easy to use and see. both digital and analog or analog alone. My band broke and can't be replaced..Too bad..Now I have a pocket watch..The band should be replaceable.

  • Great Watch

I gave this watch to my fiance for christmas and he loves it. The digital and analog features are excellent and he just loves the indiglow.

  • All smiles
    By A1NJHX5UL341NY on 2007-05-30
This watch has made me very happy. I use it to run and mountain bike and haven't had any problems yet. Timex seems to have a very good rep. so I don't imagine I'll have any troubles.

  • Timex Quality
    By A2R474LGUC1CH1 on 2007-09-28
Timex = Innovation. This is an interesting little time piece the certainly doesn't resemble the "Ironman" series of old. Just as the Ironman of the comics evolved from klunky to elegant, so to has the Timex design team kept a finger on the pulse of it's fan base, as it were.

You get the best of both worlds. The intuitiveness of analog with the versatility of digital. After a few minutes reading the instructions, I had my watch (analog and digital) set to the proper time, set the day, date and alarm.

One of my favorite features is the countdown timer. Everyone else puts a chrono on their watches and calls it good, but some of us need to count down. Thanks, Timex.

Oh, and another thing. This watch is classy enough to wear out on the town. And if the digital display bothers you when you reach for the class of wine...? Turn it off. Ha! That's right! They even included the option to turn off the digital display leaving nothing but the elegance of the white hands on the black face.

I'm only going to use part of the features (probably none of the lap stuff) but it was a fantastic bargain for me.

  • Excellent watch!
    By A3B64AW7LJMLG8 on 2008-01-07
Very comfortable on the wrist, all functions work perfectly and the dual look (analog and digital) is very cool. Also, the ability to turn off the digital background is a neat effect.

This watch was perfect for our son who was training for the marathon. Works as promised and delived in time for his birthday.

  • Non-replaceable band! BEWARE!
    By A3PJEZJHMCA7IO on 2008-01-08
I don't own this watch but came very close to buying one when I got curious about the watchband. If you look closely it doesn't attach to the timepiece in the normal fashion using pins. It is integrated into the timepiece. I emailed Timex Customer Service about it and they replied that the band is NOT user-replaceable. If the band breaks the watch itself must be returned to Timex with $10 to have it replaced. They don't pay any shipping so those costs must be factored in. This, of course, eliminates replacing the band if you simply don't like the one it comes with or you have some skin problems related to rubber. I could not find any alternate material bands that would work with this watch. Also note that several other Ironman type watches have the same issue. Buyer beware!!
